Eric Peters is an automotive columnist and author who has written for the Detroit News and Free Press, Investors Business Daily, the Chicago Tribune and Wall Street Journal. 

His last book, "Automotive Atrocities", was published in 2004 by Motorbooks International. His newest book, "Road Hogs" is due out in 2010.

Current fun stuff in the garage includes a Carousel Red 1976 Pontiac Trans-Am with a street/strip 455 V-8 under the hood - as well as a restored 1976 Kawasaki Kz900 with a 1015 cc big bore kit, an '03 Kawasaki ZRX1200R and an '00 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa. He has owned a number of old/odd machinery over the years, including a '64 Corvair Monza coupe, '73 VW Thing, '69 VW Squareback and rusted-out '78 Camaro with Gabriel hi-Jacker air shocks, peeling Keystone Classic mags and glasspack exhaust.

He's been full-time freelance since the late '90s, lives in the boonies of rural Southwest Virginia with his wife and various animals, won't have a cell phone - and shuns anything that smacks of an office, a boss or involves having to wear a suit and tie.
