His last book, "Automotive Atrocities", was published in 2004 by Motorbooks International. His newest book, "Road Hogs" is due out in 2010. Current fun stuff in the garage includes a Carousel Red 1976 Pontiac Trans-Am with a street/strip 455 V-8 under the hood - as well as a restored 1976 Kawasaki Kz900 with a 1015 cc big bore kit, an '03 Kawasaki ZRX1200R and an '00 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa. He has owned a number of old/odd machinery over the years, including a '64 Corvair Monza coupe, '73 VW Thing, '69 VW Squareback and rusted-out '78 Camaro with Gabriel hi-Jacker air shocks, peeling Keystone Classic mags and glasspack exhaust. He's been full-time freelance since the late '90s, lives in the boonies of rural Southwest Virginia with his wife and various animals, won't have a cell phone - and shuns anything that smacks of an office, a boss or involves having to wear a suit and tie. |
