Is that nicely preserved '88 Buick in your garage a "classic " - or just another old car? The answer depends on who you ask. Most states won't issue a "classic" (or "antique") vehicle license plate and registration until a vehicle is at least 21 years old. Some old car clubs (such as the Antique Automobile Club of America) consider the pa...
1976 Oldsmobile 98 Regency – Never to Be Repeated
Back when big cars were everywhere on American roads, Cadillac was the standard for what a large luxury automobile sought to be. Only one problem, buying a Cadillac was out of reach for most buyers.  By the time the fifth generation Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight (98) was released for the 1971 model year, Olds had carved out a nice niche of offerin...
If General Motors eventually goes bankrupt, it won't be for lack of imagination and innovation. Rather, it will be for lack of successful innovation - an altogether different thing. The Allante project is a case in point. It began with high hopes and an audacious plan. By the mid-1980s, Cadillac was still the "standard of the world" - if ...

Life in the Slow Lane....

I think the Flouride in the water is doing its thing...  Almost every time I go out, I come up on a car - or an SmooVee - that's doing either just barely the limit and often several MPH below it. The typical offender also likes to slow down and speed up for no apparent reason; the concept of maintaining a flow is beyond them. They'll wander across the double yellow - and not just in the curves. Then jerk the wheel to recover their lane.  And of course the limit itself is already ridiculous. On most roads, it is well below what a competent, alert driver can safely handle. So these slo' mo's doing 3-5 mph below what's posted are actually running (if that's the right word) 10-20 mph below a reasonable cruising along speed.  The main road through my county in rural Virginia is US 221. This is a broad, two-lane...
