“One issue that always boggles my mind is that the idea that a gun is a defensive weapon,” James said. “That is a myth. A gun is not a defensive weapon.”

    • Dear dom,

I’m not going to answer that. Instead, I’m going to underscore what this retard said.

      He said, and I quote,

“A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon, used to intimidate, and used to show power. Police officers do not carry a gun as a defensive weapon, to defend themselves or their other officers. They carry their gun to do their job in a safe and effective manner, and face any oppositions [sic] that we may come upon.”

Leave aside his Stallonisms for the moment, and concentrate on how he evaded the clear implication of his own logic.

“A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon, used to intimidate in a show of power. Police officers do not carry guns as a defensive weapons, to defend themselves or their fellow officers. They carry their guns to intimidate. They carry them as a show of power, to face down any opposition they may come upon.”

In other words, they want a monopoly on the ability to intimidate and show power, when they come upon us mere mundanes. And we are supposed to nod obediently and agree to such demands.

As William S. Burroughs, icon of the Beat Generation, one of the most politically trenchant, culturally influential, and innovative artists of the 20th century put it,

“After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn’t do it. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.”

      • In a freed market, a NAP pacifist like myself would be able to make or buy a purely defensive weapon. I see no need to terminate anyone’s life permanently, I only require a tool that remove and negates an aggressor’s threat to my existence and property.

        The false dialectic is…

A be utterly defenseless, with only your bare hands
B be overly offensive, having a tool which oftentimes kills your aggressor.

Where are all the options in the continuum from A to B?

In the near future, may such open source alternatives be uploaded to the RepRapWiki

Technology exists to build a shelter using 3D printers. Even better, if home owners can mix and match hand-crafted components with 3D printed components as desired.

        • 3D printing appears to have the potential to revolutionize certain segments of the economy.

It seems that it can reduce cost of production, minimize waste, and maintain a consistent level of quality.

          • It certainly seems that way. Desktop production would also cut out all the middle men and government parasites.

Ideally, the more accessible 3D printing becomes, the more accessible other types of production could also become. The InterNet frees our minds, the MakerNet could free our bodies and physical existence.

After alleviating basic individual wants and impoverishment, bigger problems could be undertaken.

A heavy duty diesel truck moves a 134 tons of freight a distance of 1 mile on a gallon of fuel.

Thus the train is 3.5 times more efficient. The route to a greener world would be one for trucks to have steel wheels. And for steel wheels which can morph into tractor tires or river based paddlewheels on demand.

This would greatly remove the need for so much flat concrete and asphalt, which causes more human and animal deaths and permanently destroys otherwise fertile land than any other technologies. Allow this to occur spontaneously and voluntarily would seem like a wise move.

Imagine high speed engineered grassways where you could drive 100 mph on durable living roads, thats seems like something worth inventing. This all happens when you get the government out of the road business and let property owners and free enterprise bring the innovations that are waiting to be created.

          • Not yet.
The parts aren’t very durable. The materials can break down over time. To make them look nice and/or work they require significant hand finishing.

    • What the cop said is B.S.!! It’s for both purposes! How stupid do these retards think we are?! Obama (Constutional Lawyer!) says: “I know how Americans won’t their guns so they can continue to hunt..” NOT!! We want our constitutional, God given right to have guns to protect ourselves from governments gone rogue… from leaders who turn into tyrants– who try to take our constitutional rights away from us… like him!!
