Good old plausible personal responsibility mantra repetition. Smell the freedom. Held responsible to something 100s of times more expensive than the market would be? Well, too bad.
They maybe see it in a different, favorable to them light, not sure. I assume they showed up, did their thing, and put out the fire. They’re not the police who ticketed the homeowner after all.
