John Walsh: Clover and Gun Grabber

Piers Morgan is gone from CNN, but new host John Walsh plans to continue his campaign for gun control.

Besides hosting “America’s Most Wanted” and advocating for victims’ rights, Walsh has been a longtime advocate of background checks and other safety measures. He said he would continue that fight now that he is joining CNN as the host of “The Hunt,” a new show about catching fugitives.

“I am the guy that has seen both sides of the issue,” Walsh told reporters Monday. “I own guns. I’m the father of a murdered child. I’ve done nothing but track violence in America since my son was murdered. We have a serious problem with guns in this country. And we refuse to address it. And the NRA solution to arm every grammar-school 80-year-old teacher with a gun is absolutely ludicrous,” he said.

Walsh said the NRA is so deeply in the pocket of the gun industry that “they’re not a lobbyist on Capitol Hill, they’re a gun manufacturer rep.” He also said Vice President Joe Biden recently agreed with him that politicians are “scared s—less” of the NRA.

“I said to Joe Biden, ’90 percent of Americans are for a responsible background check for a gun, and you know what this Congress has done? Not voted on it, not brought it to the floor, not introduced a bill,’” Walsh said. “I said, ‘They’re all scared shitless of the NRA, aren’t they?’”

Walsh said the vice president replied, “John, every one of them. Because the NRA will run a tea bagger against you. … They’ll put 5 million bucks against you.”

Walsh added: “I could name 15 first-world countries that check your mental state before you get a gun.”

Walsh said he has suggested that gun manufacturers put GPS tracking devices in every gun so stolen weapons could be easily recovered.

“Every one of us have a GPS chip in our cell phones. It’s not Big Brother,” he said.

CNN President Jeff Zucker noted that Walsh has spoken in favor of gun control “many, many, many times on CNN.” But Walsh said he didn’t know how much his gun-control efforts would be a part of his new show “The Hunt,” premiering July 13.

  1. If I recall correctly, years ago (when I still watched TV) Mr. Walsh ran an episode showcasing how the Soviet police handled “criminals.” There were scenes of various hit and run take- downs by cops on the street and other obvious police state tactics followed up with commentary about how much easier it was for cops to do their jobs in the USSR. All because they didn’t have the “constitution” (i.e. The Bill of Rights) interfering with them. Well now, one trip to copblock.org and even a Clover can plainly see that’s all changed here in the USSA.

And Mr. Walsh already knows that to purchase a firearm through a dealer that weapon will be registered…er…I meant “a background check will be performed” on the purchaser. His ilk’s push now is to register every private sale; another few feet down the slipeery slope to “Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in.” The thought that we still have the freedom to buy, sell and trade firearms amongst ourselves without government being party to the transaction is obviously abhorrent to him (and Bloomberg). They love to trot out the line that the NRA is nothing but a gun manufacturer’s lobbying group. They carefully omit that five million individual NRA members send in their money and tens of millions more Americans support the “embarassing” Second Amendment. Every time I read something like this I simply have to flip these statist scum the bird by sending the NRA and GOA a little more money.

  4. So Congress is afraid to do what “90%” of America wants. But they allow over a hundred thousand illegal immigrants to walk in and get a free paid for ride. The laws or public approval be damned. Something is not right with that propaganda BS picture.

All from a guy who has parlayed his kids death into a multimillionaire business for himself, and now says yes to more scripted entertainment and money at CNN. Shocker.

    • Yeah.

If “90 percent” (outside of NY City) agreed with Bloomberg then it stands to reason they’d vote for pols who would pursue and enact “sensible” gun control… right?

Apparently, Bloomberg, et al, dislike “democracy” when it does not give the desired result.

  5. RE: “Notice he HAD to imply that 80 year old school teachers either exist or that they have the inability to use firearms. What a douche.”

Yup. That jumped out at me, too.

He’s high-n-mighty, just never-mind with the facts, “How Do You Feel”?
Yeesh. He’s another one of those walking brain-dead.

    • Because Libertarians would love the thought teachers being armed. If a school shooting means the teacher gets shot then a gun for every child. Imagine a shooter who just shot a teacher dead faces 20-30 bullets coming at him a second later.Clover

Congress scared of NRA and private gun owners? Aw shucks isn’t that what the 2A for and means the People are doing their job right?

      • Clover,

Libertarians assert that every adult person has the right to self-defense; a teacher is a person; therefore, a teacher has the right to self defense.

So, yes. Libertarians assert that a teacher has every right to possess a gun for self defense.

You – being a Clover – believe that other people do not have the right to defend themselves; that it’s a great idea to forcibly disarm non-violent people via “the law” so that they’re at the mercy of people who do not obey “the law.”

But… but (sputters Clover in reply) “the law” would make sure no one has guns (except the state’s praetorians) and then we’d all be “safe”!

Except, Clover, it never works out that way, does it?

I’d love to see your Cloveritic self placed at the mercy of a violent thug. Perhaps your eructations regarding guns and self defense might change.

    • I admired him once upon a time for his dogged pursuit of criminals. But then discovered he’s a badge-licker who believes in victimless crimes.

      And now, this.

  6. Notice he HAD to imply that 80 year old school teachers either exist or that they have the inability to use firearms. What a douche.

It doesn’t take a long time before seeing a firearm at the hip of every teacher becomes “normalised” in the psyche of every school kid, just like our primary school (elementary to Amerikans) headmaster used to carry a belt around with him, lovingly called “the strap”. It was a clear sign of authority and of whom not to fuck with.

Most countries have a violent history, and it will always continue – with either firearms or sticks and stones. Far more people are killed with fists, knives and cars John Walsh, wanna ban them too?

Arming every school teacher might be a necessary evil and a reminder to every student of a violent history – and what’s coming to you if necessary.

Walsh is trying to find a cure for bullet holes long after the shots have been fired. This is typical of the progressive argument in every area. Why not ensure the shots aren’t fired in the first place John, or is that too forward thinking for you?

Shootings only happen in gun-free zones. Without an armed public “militia”, as written in your Constitution, then only the bad guys have guns and total control, including the police. Not a nice thought.

Mr. Walsh, just wait until your home gets invaded by either criminals or rogue cops. You’ll realise there’s no difference between the two and you’ll wish you had an M203 under your pillow.

    • ЯΞ√ΩLUT↑☼N,

Do you think John might look at the statistics in two countries (UK/Australia) that outlawed most (if not all) firearms?

Just to pick some articles from Australia:

      The Blaze

The free republic states: (bold emphasis mine)

In 2002–five years after enacting its gun ban–the Australian Bureau of Criminology acknowledged there is no correlation between gun control and the use of firearms in violent crime: “The percentage of homicides committed with a firearm continued its declining trend since 1969.”

Even the head of Australia’s Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, Don Weatherburn, acknowledged that the gun ban had no significant impact on the amount of gun-involved crime: There has been a drop in firearm-related crime, particularly in homicide, but it began long before the new laws and has continued on afterwards. I don’t think anyone really understands why. A lot of people assume that the tougher laws did it, but I would need more specific, convincing evidence …

While this doesn’t prove that more guns would impact crime rates, it does prove that gun control is a flawed policy.

Gun control is an emotional topic for some. It is hard for one not to be moved when many innocent people are killed. Fire arms can cause some gruesome images on TV. See war footage.

Yet many people die each year (as you point out) due to motor vehicles. Fortunately there is no such outcry to ban motor vehicles although that may change in the future.

      • Mith:

“Do you think John might look at the statistics in two countries (UK/Australia) that outlawed most (if not all) firearms?”

Of course and I bet he has many times, but he’d never mention it because that would blow his whole pretense, thereby losing his argument and his followers, including the fat payments from anti-gun lobby groups.

The fact remains that here in Oz firearms can still be gotten legally, although it’s still somewhat more difficult than the black market. People here still get shot, although far more rarely. If anyone’s doing all the shooting though, it’s the cops and robbers.

Our rights to defend ourselves have been slowly eroded to the point where if a burglar hurts himself in your home, or gad forbid you hurt him, expect a lawsuit coming at you.

        • Not only should you expect a lawsuit; you can expect the SOB to WIN.
Remember the three S’s: Shoot, Shovel, Shut up. (Alt: STAB, Shovel, Shut up.)

          • Walsh venerates “law and order.” He might be blissfully ignorant – never really considered the nature of “crime” (malum prohibitum? Or malum in se?) But his tub-thumping for “reasonable” violations of people’s rights is depressing and disappointing.

          • @Eric:
I think many people are “Law and Order” without realizing where that leads.
I grew up with a dictatorial father and a passive-aggressive mother. And Dad was “free with his hands,” if you follow.

But that’s where it all comes down to, an abusive (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) regime that is beyond reproach, and allows no “discussion” of policy.

I was thinking of only selecting a few quotes, but – read them all.
            http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four#Chapter_3_3
They all apply to such men.
            Tyranny, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

Like ABS, airbags, outrigger wheels, and then finally a roll cage on a motorcycle…. It’s still CALLED a motorcycle – but the essence of the vehicle, the freedom, power, mobility, agility, have all been subverted and perverted. The word no longer means what it meant. Freedom IS slavery. Slavery (9-5 with unpaid OT as well, plus hours of commuting, living in a noisy city with people up your @$$ all the time) is Freedom (no need to think, just go along all the time, stick with the routine, and do as you’re told….)

    • ЯΞ√ΩLUT↑☼N ,
It doesn’t take a long time before seeing a firearm at the hip of every teacher becomes “normalised” in the psyche of every school kid, just like our primary school (elementary to Amerikans) headmaster used to carry a belt around with him, lovingly called “the strap”. This actually struck a sudden chord with me – we’re still looking the wrong way, in a sense. It’s ALWAYS THE WORST option that is the intent…

Suddenly, this is clearly another example of STATE worship. The proles (sheeple: people + “learned helplessness”) are being INDOCTRINATED subtly to kowtow to THE STATE (Authority in the form of teachers and administrators quickly translates to worship of the real State apparatchiks- police, mayors, etc, the “Big People.”) If it has a gun on its hip, with the watchful State’s stamp of approval (via Teacher certificates – maybe even a pin or badge?), it’s OK. But that same gun would jump up and start killing people without the (almighty) teacher controlling and subduing it….

And a Lowly Student Prole is incapable of controlling himself, or the weapon, or stopping a massacre. Only the State’s Annointed can do that. (Disempowered, or maybe emasculated. But the latter omits women on its face, so I use the enemy’s terminology.)

Conditioning to ensure Cloverian mis-thought. It runs deeper than I ever believed. And the conditioning (with intent) is more subtle than I’d guessed. John Taylor Gatto is still only scratching the surface, with his lessons essay.

Humans seem predisposed towards fascism (pack-mentality, “Us vs. Them” sort of governance. “Dar as-Salam” and “Dar al-Harb” – The House of Islam and the House of War. In our Politics 101 class in college – “we” voted in Fascism. For me it was eye-opening. For “les enfants terriblé” in the class, well – they didn’t LIKE my responses. [Strong military, small military, limited government]. They wanted “what they wanted,” loosely set as, “Don’t hassle US, go hassle those niggers over there.” IE, It’s OK for ME to do drugs, I’m a COLLEGE STUDENT… Go hassle the blacks in the ghetto. US are the “good guys,” THEY are the “outsiders,” “others,” etc. Depressing. But most people are unable to “see beyond the tip of their own nose.” [To quote Mary Poppins – IN context, at that! ]
      😉 )

      Thoughts?

      • The lazy often seem to like being led, because the hard decisions are their leader’s problem, good or bad.

Sheeples are often seen shrugging “Meh.. wot can ya do eh?” when discussing bad political decisions. Dare them ever to take up a fight for something they feel strongly and hell tends to freeze over first.

One of the main reasons I left the Army after 7 years was simply because of the bad decisions by my leaders. Vast amounts of our valuable time was frittered away on senseless make-busy. Any activity or idea even closely resembling efficiency is ignored if not shunned.

Most of this centred around the Battalion’s budget. The vast majority being wasted on officer’s and sergeant’s quarters and their club rooms. The cost of almost constant renovation to cater for their corporatised luxury ideals (they consider themselves “special”) is ignored because the taxpayer foots the bill. Simply because of this invariably the price of the renovation gets jacked up by the civilian company doing the work. Imagine grabbermint excesses in light of this. Massive waste.

In my last few years I worked in a transport platoon. Often lowly sergeants would bitch and cry because they had to use a wagon instead of the “fast car” (sedan – same year and model though) that they wanted. I even had one drunken sergeant blasting me over the phone because he wanted to take a later flight so he could booze up some more. Then my sergeant (damn good bloke) took over the call and gave him what-for, telling him to take the original flight and stop fecking us and our tasking all around just so he can float his brain a bit longer – and threatening to take the argument to the commanding officer. Heh. Problem solved. Drunken sergeants don’t look good in the brig, that’s for us lowly privates. 🙂
