Meanwhile, we’re off to a slow start for the month. I’m still trying to figure out how to get that critical 10 percent or so of EPautos.com’s regular readers to regularly chip in $5 or so a month. It’d be ideal if we could get 20 percent to send $1 a month in – but this is a tough nut to crack and not just for EPautos. I’ve talked with other Libertarian and alternative media editors and writers about this, as most of you know already. It is extremely difficult for even a site with a big audience to keep its head above the waterline. People seem to want alternatives to the press kit media; but getting them to support those alternatives… well, that’s the walnut we’re all trying to figure out how to crack.
The only reason I’m able to do this is because of my “van down by the river” lifestyle, but that’s a tenuous existence. I mentioned before I’m doing all this on an almost eight-year-old Mac that’s becoming obviously senile. I’m also on my own, pretty much, tech support wise. The “staff” at EPautos is down to one. Me.
I’m hoping I’ll be able to at least put a Tech Guy on retainer, to be there to deal with future bugs (inevitable) and also to keep things running smoothly.
I’m also hoping I’ll be able to retire this poor old iMac in favor of one that doesn’t operate at dial-up speed and have to be unplugged and re-started 4-7 times a day to make it work.

It’s weird, I was just musing about AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil the other day. It seems to me it represents the pinnacle of lubrication science.

eric, what a difference a couple years make. I can remember being the guy you gave hell for continually referencing Amsoil. Did you read the results of all the tests, see what they’ve done in real world or just try it?
BTW, there seems to be a fair amount of Libertarians that, simply because of what they can stand and cannot stand, are doing that van by the river thing.
I could change employers and make more money, enough to warrant doing it….but the owners are my friends and they make few demands of the lockstep marching type. I’m grandfathered in so need no DOT “inspection”(bend over baby, here comes my BULLET). We have no surprise drug tests and beyond that, No drug tests…..ever. When things are slack for a few days due to any number of factors, I’m free to pick up jobs with the company truck as I see fit. I pull into the yard, almost always because of some problem I can’t fix myself, the boss meets me and hands me a cold one, knowing the day isn’t over but it’s been a long one for me already. We eat the same beef and pork and he raises the chickens, me the hogs and bofus the cattle. WTSHTF, we’ll be better off than nearly anyone.
While we’re not kin, we are family. It makes the van by the river much easier to bear.
Go Amsoil. I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t believe it. I had little faith it would stop the “tick” in the top of that 3.1 but that’s just what it did. I didn’t really believe it would make my diesel use a fraction of it’s previous oil use….but it did. By that time I fairly well believed when I changed transmission lube and everything was slicker and smoother. I had no idea it would make my boat seem like it had a larger engine…..and only after speaking with another guy who said he felt his engine has just been super-tuned after the first time he used it in his boat, I knew mine wasn’t a fluke. Amatuzio started the company to help save his own butt(in jet fighters) and it worked out well for everyone.
