Mittens and the Media

Have you noticed that major media web sites like CNN no longer publish reader replies to their stories? Could it be that they realized the false consensus maintained by print media was being eroded by allowing people to openly disagree with and question the propaganda being peddled by them? Mittens

No question.

It wasn’t just that people disagreed. It was that thousands disagreed. Each MSM story typically had a tsunami of contrary reader responses so lopsided that it clearly indicated the public and the MSM are profoundly at loggerheads on major (and minor) issues. This public divergence encouraged individuals who, previously, felt very alone – that “everyone” agreed with the major media/party line about whatever the topic du jour happened to be.

Unlike the letters-to-the-editor page of a print newspaper, they had no control over what people wrote online in response to their dreck. And most of what the readers wrote radiated contempt for the “stories” published by the MSM, which typically left out critical facts and were (and still are) suffused with pro-state/pro-authority premises.

The people whacked the pinata – and the major media outlets began to be seen for what they were and still are: Propaganda organs for the nexus of corporate/crony capitalism and the warfare state. That is, for a tiny minority of interchangeable influence peddlers and job holders who have managed to get their hands on the levers of… everything.pinata

For the con to work, the illusion of consent and consensus was critically necessary. But the people clearly did not like the endless wars, the flowering police state; the flooding of the country with “immigrants” … the politically correct lecturing about What We Should Think… . The occasional shootings performed by some defective loon were not having their intended effect of galvanizing public opinion in favor of “sensible” gun control. The people saw through the sham of “free trade” deals with authoritarian regimes that benefitted the Wall Street Crowd at their expense.

Etc. Etc.

It was embarrassing – and becoming dangerous.

The manufactured consensus that made viable the illusion of consent was crumbling.

Something had to be done.

So, the comments sections have been taken down. Check around, see for yourself. The major organs realized they were losing the debate – so they’ve stifled the debate. They are doing the last thing they can do – short of having the government shut down contrarian media.

If necessary, that’s next.

What they want – what they must have – is a return to the days when they, the anointed, regally issued The Story – and the public dutifully walked between the lines. The System depends on it, cannot exist without it.

Right now, they are trying to quell the mortifying (to them) public enthusiasm for Trump but much more so, the incandescent hatred of a very large portion of the public for Beltway/Wall Street Republicans, the greedheads and chickenhawks who’ve systematically gang-raped the country and want to keep on doing it. Trump’s support – more so than Trump himself – is a mortal threat to them and theirs. A crisis moment is at hand.inbred

Jeb! was laughed off the national stage. Cruz, the oily and obvious tool of the same interests as The Chimp (whom he worked for) is despised. If Rubio fails, they will trot out … Mitt Romney.

But for that to succeed, they must – somehow – convey the impression that MIttens is desired by people other than the Wall Street banksters and Beltway warmongers (who never go to war themselves) and the only way to do this is by locking out and atomizing the public’s disgust such that it’s no longer so obvious.

To return to an Internet version of the Three Network days, when CBS and NBC and ABC (and their print analogs, The WashingtonPost and The New York Times) determined what was the news. Whatever they ignored was not news. Because no one saw it or read it, except for a few “kooks” on the margins.

There are – and always have been – many more “kooks” than the establishment media wants known. Especially to other “kooks.” A mass consciousness of kookiness spells real Trouble for the tiny elite that controls the country. Trump has tapped into this, opened a vein. Organs like CNN and the rest of them are doing their damnedest to triage the situation and staunch the flow.spark

This is not a paean to Trump. Whatever he is, he’s not a Libertarian. But he is a dagger aimed at the heart of the Republican Party – and they are screwed no matter what they do. If they thwart his nomination by backroom skullduggery, the puppet they trot out as his replacement – Mittens, for example – will be viewed as just that. A puppet. He will lose – epically.

Of course, the candidate they want will still win.

Hillary would be just fine with them. They have said so, openly.

But they play with fire and don’t even begin to realize it. There is gasoline all over the floor.

All it will take is a spark.

  1. Definitely noticed. And inevitably there will be fewer and fewer eyeballs visiting said faux news sites. Of course the very ones who manufacture the “stories” will have a story to explain why.

  2. Fuck you, minions of mittens. I own myself, you don’t own me. Yout political masters don’t own me. I have no obligation to obey the arbitrary garbage that they call, “law”.

I have no obligation to put up with it when you unthinkingly put on a silly costume and come to be a thug to force the politicians will on me.

Maybe you got that badge and joined up thinking you would be a force for law and order. If that’s the case, I commend you. You thought you were doing the right thing.

But here in Merricka, it turns out you were wrong. You’re not the good guy.

Your hat, your badge, your title, the law books – they don’t make you the good guy. Because morality doesn’t change just because politicians scribble it on paper.

So Mr. and Mrs. DEA agent, IRS agent, ATF, CIA, DHS, TSA, and all the rest of you alphabet soup nazis: you are the bad guys.

And the future is going to look back and recognize you as the bad guy. Just as we look back on Nazi Germany, and everybody says, “How on earth could people just follow those orders?”

The future is going to look back at you Mr. and Mrs. Federal or State cop and say, “Why on earth did they keep doing these things to innocent people just because they were told to?”.

So you have two choices Mr. and Mrs. Fascist: either you can think for yourself now, figure out you are the bad guy and become the good guy or until the end of time history will remember you as a stupid, unthinking, evil thug.

Now Mr. and Mrs. Fascist, why don’t you consider one thing while you’re trying to decide who’s the good guys. Do you see anyone here having shoot outs or blowing stuff up? Raiding people with their SWAT gear? We SAY things, we express ideas.

You spy on us. You invade houses. You put on your SWAT team and behave like fascists. Who do you think that kinda hints at as the good guy here? We say words and you violently attack us for it. You call us terrorists. Who do you actually think is the good guys?

At what point are you going to think outside the box enough to realize that your profession can be described as initiating violence against innocent people because politicians told you to. You are not law enforcers, you are politician mercenaries and that’s all.

Now, here’s the scary part, Mr. and Mrs. Fascist. Do you want to know what I want to have happen to you? I want you to put down your badge and join humanity.

Here’s the ironic part, while you are out there doing your thuggery, the people here, we don’t want to enforce our will on you. We don’t want you to spend your money on things we want. We don’t want you to force you to make choices that we want you to make.

We want you to be free. You’re attacking us because we want you to be free. How messed up is that? And you have the chance to be free because you, with the badge and the gun, you are the only thing that is making us unfree.

It’s not the politicians. They’re not kicking down peoples doors, they’re not enforcing their arbitrary, bogus lunacy. It’s you with the guns and badges.

If you do the right thing, the politicians have NO power. We want you to be free, you want us to be enslaved.

Now, in the future people will look back and say, “How could anybody of been so stupid, so insane, so irresponsible to work for the DEA, IRS, ATF, whatever…”.

What are you going to tell them if you’re still alive? “Well, it was my job.” Where have we heard that? Only under every evil regime in the history of the world has that been the excuse. Put down the badge. Get rid of the official title of authority and start taking responsibility for your own actions and we will defend YOUR freedom.

What government does is start fights. What people here want is peaceful coexistence. Is that why you have to fear us? Hate us? Spy on us? Because we want peaceful coexistence.

Look at yourself in the mirror, can you really tell yourself that you’re the good guy when you are spying on people who want to be left alone and want to leave other people alone? If that’s who you view as evil, then something is really messed up in your head.

  3. The great thing about Heinlein, is we could have all those new worlds right now. No need for FTL drives, just allow all them different folks to have their different strokes. Period.

And don’t be afraid of the TeeVee, just have a good time relentlessly heckling whatever kind of idiocy your buddies are trying to watch. Oh look, I’m a mechanic in world war two and I go out and kill Japs for a living. And then them murdering japs killed my son, and ruined my good times trying to murder japs for Uncle Sam. Who’d a thunk it. Don’t ya just hate when you’re trying to murder some innocent somebodies you don’t even know and then some of your innocent loved ones get murdered instead?

    “It Takes Diff’rent Strokes,”
Written by Alan Thicke, Gloria Loring and Al Burton | Performed by Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring

It really would be that easy. For example, things I overheard today while visiting Daryush Valizadeh’s Man Planet:

    1. Women are whores

“My default opinion of any girl I meet is ‘worthless dirty whore until proven otherwise’. When so many girls have opened their legs up for me so quickly and easily, it’s hard for me to respect them [and their opinions or ideas] like I would a family member or close friend.

“I do not feel any closer to a girl when I pump her, and most of the time I respect her less because my opinion of her as a worthless dirty whore who probably likes being choked was proven correct.”

    2. I don’t care about women

“Because I learned early on that talking to a girl about her problems or issues is the fastest way out of her pants, it’s become habit for me to simply nod or say ‘That sucks’ when a girl has a genuine problem, even one that I can help solve. I have no desire to help a girl out with her life, and I don’t care if she falls flat on her face.”

    3. I am a dictator, women are my bitches

“My ability to stay in a long-term relationship, putting up with its natural ups and downs, is evaporating as I adopt the mentality of a dictator, with my bitch the subservient who must attend to my needs without making any mistakes. Over the years my temper has greatly shortened.”

    4. You should fantasise about choking girls

“The more worthless you think of the female species and the less you fantasise about your dream girl, the more likely you will find and successfully game her. The fantasy you should have to get your ideal girl should be choking and butt-f*****g her, not having a romantic walk with her on a beautiful beach underneath a full moon.”

    5. Homosexuality is Nazism

Under a picture of a LGBT rainbow flag with a Nazi swastika, Roosh wrote: “Legalising gay marriage is one phase of a degenerate march to persecute heterosexuals, both legally and socially, while acclimating young children to the homosexual lifestyle.

“Gay marriage is part of a long war that will eventually criminalise or socially forbid certain aspects of heterosexual behaviour at the same time it oversexualises young children in order to introduce them to homosexuality.”

    6. Women shouldn’t work

“Women are not at all serving critical or important job functions at a level above men, and society is better of with them not participating full time in the labour force.”

    7. Men must make decisions on behalf of women

“Systems must now be put in place where a woman’s behaviour is monitored and her decisions subject to approval of a male relative or guardian who understands what’s in her best interests better than she does herself.

“For the bulk of human history, their behaviour was significantly controlled or subject to approval through mechanisms of tribe, family, church, law or stiff cultural precepts. The reason that women had their behaviour limited was for the simple reason that they are significantly less rational than men, in a way that impaired their ability to make good decisions concerning the future.”

    8. My future wife must not be black

“I would like to have kids that look like me, so I will not reproduce with a woman who is black, Asian, or Indian. Acceptable races are South American, Persian, Armenian, and European (non-Northern). The average Croatian or Romanian girl is more similar to my appearance than Spanish or Italian.”

    9. Women must stay at home and knit

“Once the kids arrive, she should have no desire to pursue a pointless office career in place of taking care of our growing brood. She may have some freedom to pursue hobbies like yoga or knitting, but her place will be in the home while I tirelessly work on my internet eBook hustle to bring home the bread that gives her everything she needs.”

    10. My life leaving the game

“The only way I see to reverse these consequences is to step out of the game completely and go through a massive cold streak that makes me value a woman again, to see her as something important that I need. Since I don’t see this happening, the odds that I will meet a new girl who I genuinely care for and maybe even love will be about the same as me winning the grand prize of a scratch ticket lottery game. And I’m fine with that. For now.”

Everybody’s got a special kind of story; Everybody finds a way to shine.
It don’t matter that you got not alot. So what?
They’ll have theirs, you’ll have yours, and I’ll have mine.
    And together we’ll be fine!

I mean really, is it really that hard to grok the free market. It has to be 100% free, no matter how detestable or unpleasant you might find some things. Shut your toothless or geezer maws and leave em be already. What might not be right for you, might be right for some.

    • I love Heinlein, but Phillip Dick’s stories and characters also appeal to me because of the humanity – the empathy – that characterizes them. For example, Mr. Tagomi in The Man in the High Castle. And Mr. Isidore in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

  4. The US already tried to start a nuclear war, but back than there was no one to shoot back.
I say, if Iran wants nukes (there is no solid evidence that they do), who can blame them? Let the Middle East fight it out amongst themselves and set all that oil on fire. Then we will find out inarguably about Global Warming. India and Pakistan could join in, but they might not go for the idea, since they are downwind.
And do you think China will let Kim whoever (Kardassian?) go mucking about with his nukes? Even against Japan, let alone the US? Too close to home.

    • If Iran wants nukes? Really? Tierra del Fuego wants nukes and everyone else for no other reason than to keep the US at bay. Hell, I want nukes….and if you’d been through what I have, you would to.

      • Okay, so maybe they want them. But that does not mean they are actively pursuing them. Even the National Intelligence Estimate, put together by the CIA et al, says that ‘if’ Iran had a nuclear weapon program, it ended no later than 2003. What advantage would they gain by lying about that?

  5. A glimpse of Trump America
    http://www.maralagoclub.com

America’s been under siege for fifty years now. I think with fracking making us number one in energy again, the Plutarchs are going to enjoy themselves a bit, and Trump is just the man to enable them to do comfortably do so.

He has funny hair like that Austrian fella, and he too will lock in our new emerging bleak normal for them for many generations to come. If he fails he’ll go takeover Florida and do a smaller version of the billionaires haven down there.

China doesn’t need a gimped America to compete any longer. India can power Britania all by themselves now, we’re redundant. The Kingdom of Fear will relocate in Mexico somewhere.

They’re pissing themselves silly about El Trumpo so badly the PTB are going to ride them for a while and put their white horse away wet.

  6. Dear Eric,

‘To return to an Internet version of the Three Network days, when CBS and NBC and ABC (and their print analogs, The Washington Post and The New York Times) determined what was the news. Whatever they ignored was not news. Because no one saw it or read it, except for a few “kooks” on the margins.’

Amen to that. Time to repost a few candid and revealing quotes, straight from the MSM’s mouth.

“The news is whatever I say is the news.”
    — David Brinkley, former NBC Anchorman and media industry icon

“What is news? You know what news is? News is what you news directors interpret it as. News is what we at CNN interpret it as. The people of this country see the news that we think they oughta see.”
    — Ted Turner, Founder of CNN

“We are going to impose our agenda on the coverage by dealing with issues and subjects that we choose to deal with.”
    — Richard M. Cohen, former Senior Producer of CBS News

“Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have.”
    — Richard Salant, former President of CBS News

  7. “Hillary would be just fine with them. They have said so, openly.”

Citation needed. Most beltway Republicans seem to be holding their nose and saying they profoundly disagree with everything Trump stands for — and they will support him if he wins.

  8. I don’t think that a GOP strategy of “Pauling” Trump would work. First off, he will get in their face and call them out. He will have the media on his side because he is a media animal. Second, it is widely known that Trump has won primaries, unlike Ron Paul who won none. This contest is about who comes in first, not who scores delegates to got to the convention.

I think it is laughable that they picked a 2 time loser to bitch about Trump’s candidacy. It’s even more funny than 4 years earlier, they were buddies.

The GOP is toast without Trump and they are toast with him. Even if he wins, the winners will have to play by different rules.

    • I will enjoy watching the GOP destroy itself. For my entire adult life, I have been listening to Republicans like Romney and Mittens and The Chimp talk about “values” as they incinerate the Constitution, of “freedom” as they systematically take it away, of “the market” as they erect a crony capitalist/fascist system Il Duce would have cheered.

I stab at them, for hate’s sake.

And I believe the outpouring of support for Trump is a function of this. People are not just sick of the GOP and its stooges, they want to burn the motherfucker down.

      Me too.

Just looking at that piano-toothed suntanned shyster (Romney) tilts my blood pressure.

I would vote for Hillary (again, for hate’s sake) rather than him or any other got-damned Republican.

      Except, perhaps, Trump.

      • What I’ll enjoy even more than watching the GOP commit ritual seppuku wil be hearing the howls of pain and gnashing of teeth from brainless TradCon votards who will belive the end of the world is nigh and who will have their shallow hypocrisy exposed for all the universe to see.

I bathe in your tears, you despicable freedom-hating assholes!

      • You get it! Vote for ABE- Anybody But the M**F**ing Establishment! (Should that be ABTMFE??- never mind, too much for a bumper sticker!)

In the 1930’s, one of the stated goals of the Communist Party USA was to gain control of one or both of the major political parties. The Dems went willingly, The Repubs rank and file for all their bible thumping, patriotic BS did not go, but the powers behind the scenes made damned sure they handpicked pliable candidates to sell to the gullible rubes.

It sure looks to me from my seat in the heart of this grim, communist police state, like CPUSA succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

      • eric, there is no upside to Hitlery. She has voted and been vehement about every war that might have been. She’s made it clear there is no bigger warmonger.

And yes, Trump could be shut out by the “Rules” committee and even downright voter fraud and other dirty tricks like RP suffered. Trump has more media notice going for him but he could be shut out by “the party”.

They’re in a tizzy because the JFK solution is not easily done although finding a lone gunman and someone(another Jack Ruby) to off him would seem to be easier now than then. We have an entirely new base of voters who know nothing about JFK and never will. Hispanics read Facebook, I can guarantee this and that’s it. Blacks, read? It’s a shame to have to lump intelligent, informed blacks with their brethren, and it’s not fair, but they are of such a minority as to not be worth mentioning. You have to welfare crowd to vote in the largest welfare/warfare bitch that’s ever walked.

Hell, it would be better if Rubio won in many ways. The Dem’s would be in a tizzy and block everything he tried. The fly in the ointment is the sheer number of federal and state seats that have been won by Reps whose base still votes in those races.

Still, there is no good scenario for the people. I feel no less threatened by global nuclear war with Hitlery as with Rubio so maybe the Mitt getting in might be all we could cross our fingers for.

No matter how any of them get elected, I won’t be headed to the polls. If conditions look dire enough, I might talk up Trump…..if he lives to see his name on the ballot…..which I doubt.

        • Hi Eight,

There comes a point when you can no longer polish a turd.

I’d rather see Hillary become Dear Leader than any Republican for the simple reason that it will accelerate the inevitable and I’d rather the inevitable occur while I am still young enough to deal with it.

Republicans will give us the same as Hillary. Just more slowly. And – intolerable – while talking all the while about “our freedoms.”

          Fuck them. Damn them all.

Especially oily shysters like Cruz and Rubio.

          No me gusta.

          • At least the Dems are up front for the most part about what they want to do. The GOP, so-called conservatives, are hippo-Crips. They claim they want smaller gunvermin, In reality, the only difference might be that we would go over the cliff with the bus driver only having the throttle 1/2 way down instead of on the floor.

            • The Dems may be upfront but it’s no reason to think they won’t actually do worse than the Reps who are highly divided. Hitlery and her bulldyke Reno have already shown their willingness to kill scores of people in this country they wanted to make an example of.

I’m hoping all the emails that have were secret or highly secret will be Hil’s undoing before the election. I think Bernie would be less of a warhawk than Hitlery.

it’s not as if something good is going to come of anyone running for prez so once again, we come back to the least evil. I’m not sure who that might be but Hitlery probably isn’t the one.

There is talk of rolling back NAFTA so I could somewhat support(although not necessarily to vote)someone who talks that up. If Trump could push through legislation to have the law of illegals babies being born citizens and address the welfare, get rid of federal health insurance and such, we might get more relief than we thought possible.

But no matter, the thought of any of them makes my stomach churn……unlike that dead calf I need to bury that’s simply a bad odor.

              • Speaking of Janet Reno, did anybody ever see her and Walter Matthau in the same place at the same time? Perspiring minds want to know. Seriously, anybody who thinks the theatre of the election cycle makes a difference is blind to reality. That said, what I love most about Trump’s run with the bulls is how much it gets leftists’ panties in a twist. These fuckers, and sadly I count many close friends and relatives among the deluded, don’t seem to realize that their movement amounts to a religion. All the hallmarks are there….blind acceptance of dogma, persecution of any individual who dares to hold different views (heresy), refusal to accept objective fact if it conflicts with their dogma, and absolute intolerance for the intellectual rights of individuals. But, 2016 looks more and more like the tipping point. So, pass the popcorn and folks, join me in sending a few regular shekels towards Eric because his is one of the better, more logical and consistent “libertarian” sites on the web.

      • Exactly Eric!! The repuglican party as we used to know it is over, done, stick a fork in it.

I love your description of the pretty boy loser mittens, piano toothed – PERFECT! He also causes my blood pressure to spike. And, what Trump said about him is spot on.

Let me take a contrarian view here and argue that if The Donald sails through the primaries and the convention and actually gets the nomination, then his supporters should be scared shitless and will have had their world torn to shreds. Why, you might ask?

Because a GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump will reveal that he is part of he very same Establishment that he has been pretending to fight against.

Having seen what happened to Ron Paul at the 2012 Convention, we KNOW FOR AN INCONTESTABLE FACT that the GOP Establishment will NEVER allow an outsider to gain the nomination no matter how much popular support he has. If the GOP is expert in anything, it is in telling its grassroots base to go fuck itself. And that base has bent over and graciously and gleefully done so, repeatedly, FOR YEARS. Why would this time be any different?

We all know that elections change nothing. If The Donald is sincere, he’s never going to survive the convention. The Establishment will see to that. If he is nominated, then we know he is “one of the gang” and thus deserving of nothing but our contempt.

    • Hi Lib,

I think he’s a black swan. The obvious desperation, the visceral hate of the GOP establishment shills, tells me he’s got them seriously worried. It doesn’t mean he’s one of us – I doubt he is.

But he’s not one of them, either.

      • This smacks of a railroad job to me.

Trump IS one of them, but he pretends to be an outsider to get the “throw the bums out” vote.

What did Joshua finally learn in “War Games”?

        • If I recall correctly, he found out there was no winner in Global Thermonuclear War.
That doesn’t quite apply here. If we were to nuke them all, say: D.C., NYC, San Fran (Hollyweird), Belgium (Brussels is the head of the Eurozone, IIRC), Aspen, Miami – get all the problems at once (along with the innocents, we’ll ignore the “collateral damage” for the thought exercise) – we’d be able to accomplish an awful lot.

Sooo… We would win. 🙂 Not that it’s a great victory, but a Pyrrhic victory still beats surrender.

Surrender = death. Dodging fallout for 2,000 years is still alive, fighting for a future….

Now, since none of us has nukes, it’s merely a thought exercise. 😉 And I’m sure a lot of other messed up cities could be added to the list, too. I don’t see a reason to include Baltimore, Philly, Trenton, Boston (though it’s a good idea!), Detroit, Kansas City (either), Indianapolis, Tallahassee, Seattle, etc, etc, etc, – some are already in the stone age, essentially; others too insignificant to worry about.

Real problem is, the corruption is a HUMAN thing.
The Elites are correct about the NEED for Agenda 21… they just want to be Eloi, with submissive Morlocks handling their daily work… (http://www.quantumvibe.com/strip?page=49, http://www.quantumvibe.com/strip?page=50)

Too bad we can’t manage something like this…
          http://www.bigheadpress.com/eft?page=866
          http://www.bigheadpress.com/eft?page=865 (intentionally out of order)

          • The new QuantumVibe series took a little while to get going, but it’s really starting to pick up steam now. Highly recommended.

The “Venus Project” name is from Utopian planner (dreamer) Jacque Fresco, who is another one of those “From those according to their ability, to those according to their need” types. You should keep a close eye on them.

Scott Bieser’s friend L. Neil Smith used it as the title of one of his books, which sadly appears to be out of print. It’s also highly recommended (warning: some parts can be a depressing read)

    • It already sounds as if they are going to ‘Ron Paul’ Trump. That is change the rules. But while Paulians got their people as delegates to get a Paul nomination a second ballot under the rules before they were changed this time the rules will be changed so the establishment can use the Paulian game. That is to prevent a Trump nomination on the first ballot and then have the no longer bound delegates vote for the establishment choice in round two.

    • When people ask, “Do you really think Trump would be a good president?” I answer,
“I don’t know. He’s is enough of an outsider (especially politically) that it is very difficult to predict what kind of president he would be. But what I do know is that every other candidate (except Carson) is part of the system, and will be a very bad president.”
Not that this is the end of the world. When was the last time there was a ‘good’ president? Is there even any such thing as a good president?

      • Trump just announced he will repeal Obamacare. Not “reform” it. Not “replace” it. Repeal it.

        End the individual mandate.

He may yet get my vote.

I hope Mittens goes the way of Jeb!

I hope the entire GOP establishment gets flushed down the toilet of history.

That goes double for the GOP’s house shills – Hannity, Limbaugh and Beck. When I think of them, images of Tub Girl come into my mind.

        • OMG Eric!!! Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck the whiner and who could forget the blathering idiot O’Reilly! I also hope both the GOP and team donkey get flushed down the toilet of history and ultimately carried out to sea.

          • Amen, Bill!

It’s delicious to watch Beck and Rush squirm, especially, as they lose their audience… as they are exposed for the shills and frauds they always have been.

      • PTB, My views here are somewhat known, but I would contend Calvin Coolidge was pretty good, as well as Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. Reagan was the best in my adult life, which is just to say the shiniest turd in the punch bowl;)

    • I think we’ll see an interesting contrast this year. On the Republican side, Trump will likely get the popular vote, but none of the delegates. And on the Democrat side, Clinton will likely get the delegates, but not the popular vote.

Gary Johnson may end up being the sane person’s choice (as long as he doesn’t pick John McAfee as a running mate).

        • Maybe the LP is tilting at windmills (airplanes in this case)… but they’re still a pretty good choice compared to the “other guys” that want to take your rights away.

I’m hoping that we’ll pull over 5% this time.

And I’m fully prepared for the complaints from both sides about how we “stole” their election.

          • You mean like W stole Florida from Algore? Few even noticed, let alone mention, that if most of those in NH who voted for Nader had voted Gore instead, Florida would not have mattered.

            • Yeah, funny how that works.

I do think that 3rd parties will play a large role in this year’s election, as election results from the two major parties have gotten much closer over time. Just call us “Kingmaker”.

Except for the Socialist Party – their candidate deserted them for the Democrats. 😉

              • And for all those with their panties in a twist because Trump won’t ‘disavow’ the endorsement by David Duke, what do they have to say about O-Bomb-Ya being endorsed both times by the Communist Party USA?

                • Hi Phillip,

                  Interesting, isn’t it?

I’ve pointed out (in a similar vein) that I could safely wear a T-shirt with Stalin’s portrait on it (or the Soviet flag) … walk around in public… I doubt anyone would say a word.

But if I were to wear a T shirt with Hitler’s face or the Nazi flag….

Note to all Clovers: I am not a fan boy of Hitler’s. I am simply pointing out the cow-headed attitude of the masses. Socialism, communism… they are cool forms of authoritarian collectivism!

                • PtB, it wasn’t that Trump didn’t disavow DD’s endorsement. Here’s where the MSM’s twist the facts to their liking. He didn’t do it “quickly enough”. How the hell ever someone might time it.

I’m guessing Trump did it as soon as he found out about it. There’s a lot of shit to shovel through every day. He evidently needs a large staff to shovel, shake and sort it. I’d recommend the human equivalent or computer equivalent of a 980 Cat loader dumping into a quarry size crusher, with several sorters…..or maybe more.

              • Hi Chip,

It could get very interesting… 1861 interesting.

If a Third Party runs, the vote will fracture and the winner will likely be Hillary… who will be an obvious non-majority-backed tyrant without the veneer of consent needed for her to rule.

Kind of like Abe, all those years ago.

              • “If Gore had carried his home state”
Didn’t even have to do that. If he had gotten 1/3 of the votes Nader got in NH he would have won.

  10. For a few million dollars I can tell the Republican party how to stop Trump. I’ll do it too. Why? Because the way to actually stop Trump is a suicide mission. They think they can stop Trump with the usual media imagery, incomplete biased stories, interview traps (see David Duke mentions), and the rest of the standards they’ve relied on for decades. They did this to Ron Paul in the previous two presidential elections. Eight years have passed and many of the voters who still fell for that are dead (of old age). Except for those voting in the team D primaries the people who still fall for this are divided among the other republican clowns. They are still the majority, but this isn’t a two man race. Enough people see through it plus enough people like Trump anyway (as the strongman who gets stuff done) to win in a three or more man race.

I won’t tell here how to stop Trump, I want the money from the RNC first. But I think the RNC already knows. They simply refuse to do it because it means the end to the way of life to which they’ve become accustomed.

  11. What has disabled the MSM print outlets is that their product isn’t being bought by as many people as it once was. I think it’s very likely that the main buyers of magazine subscriptions are now doctors’ offices.

The advent of email as a method of responding to magazine articles probably has resulted in a “tsunami of contrary reader responses ” which the editors didn’t have to contend with when readers had to write a response and buy a stamp to mail it in. That’s another way that the internet has damaged the old model of manufactured consensus that the print media used to such great effect in the past.

The venerable old glossy print magazines are dying a well deserved death at the hands of readers who now have a huge number of alternate choices, thanks to the WWW.

  12. I’m reminded of a meme that reads:

Good citizens don’t think. Thinking leads to reasoning. Reasoning leads to right and wrong. Wrong leads to revolt. Revolt leads to BAD CITIZENS.

  13. On a related note, it is interesting to see that all pictures of Trump in the establishment media capture his weirdest expressions, subliminally saying that he is unhinged or a loose cannon at best.

  14. It’s true they can’t stand even questioning, let alone criticism.
On the other hand, Gary North disabled the comments on his Tea Party Economist blog, because he had to spend too much time dealing with flamers. But that is a relatively small, private site. Since they can no longer vent, those wanting only to stir the pot may no longer bother to go there. That’s what should happen to these lame-stream sites also. When their page views start dropping, they will find it as hard to stay in the black as their dead-tree counerparts.
btw, I find it humerous, given Romney’s ties to Michigan, that his nickname has become ‘Mitten,’ the shape of the state map (ignoring the UP, of course).

  15. Not quite – in the editorial pages, they could always insure the opposing letters were just badly argued enough to paint the opposition as rubes.
In comment sections you get one giant proctological fact-check, logically consistency check, citations to solid opposing evidence, etc.
They might have to do their homework as if they were homschooled.
You can also see it with deleted comments.
And opposition they can handle, but breaking the narrative itself, no.

    • Very true, TZ.

Print the opposing views that are laden with spelling and grammar errors and clumsily argued. I saw this in operation when I worked for the MSM.

      It’s bad.

      • The three major TV networks often featured “equal time” gun control debates between an articulate, urbane liberal gun grabber, and an inarticulate, oafish gun rights defender.

        So much for media “objectivity”.

        • Hi Bevin,

          Yes. Exactly.

Also, there are certain topics that the major media would never allow to be discussed. Such as any criticism, whatsoever, of Israel and American policy vis-a-vis Israel. No matter how objective and reasonable and motivated not by “anti-Semitism” but by disgust with the thug policies of the Israeli government and the Israeli government’s overweening influence on American policy.

          • eric, it’s been obvious for decades Israel’s controlling interests desire the US to start a nuclear war so they can then claim most of the world they desire(the middle east, the parts of the US that don’t glow), then they can use THEIR nukes to do away with GB and France. They’ll probably be willing to let India and Pakistan lie for the time being.

It’s short-sighted though Shelton A., you scum, to think Russia and most likely China too won’t be glad to send plenty Israel’s way.
