“hero” Says “Suspicion is a Misdemeanor”

Here’s a video taken of another “hero” law enforcer who makes up “the law” on the spot!

A guy is filming the publicly visible exterior of a police station from a public sidewalk – which is (for the moment) abundantly legal – when he is approached by two confrontational “heroes” who – of course – demand his ID, Soviet-style.

Not because the man is committing a crime – but because he is challenging the authority of the “heroes.” It is time, therefore, for a Dominance Display.

The fact that this sort of thing is has become routine in the United States says a lot about the state of the United States, which is no longer even plausibly a “free” country. It is a country in which lawless law enforcers do as they please – insolently – because they are confident that there will be no meaningful repercussions, no matter what they do.

The guy taking the video politely asks what crime he’s committed, or is suspected of committing. This used to be the probable cause standard for detaining a person; that is, armed government workers were once-upon-a-time legally required to have a specific reason for suspecting a criminal act had been committed or was about to be committed before they could lawfully prevent a citizen from peaceably going about his business.

It is no longer required.

Technically, perhaps – but that is as irrelevant as the Fourth Amendment’s defunct guarantee that we are to be left unmolested absent probable cause and the Fifth Amendment’s similarly defunct injunction that we are not to be made to provide evidence that can and will be used against us in a criminal proceeding (see, for example, your 1099 form).

So.

The “heroes” reply that he is “suspicious” – and he is informed that this is a “misdemeanor.”

The reality is, the “heroes” want to show who is Boss – and will use any device, legal or otherwise, to establish this fact. In a free country- if we still had one – this citizen would be free to go.

Of course, we do not live in a free country. And so he isn’t free to go.

These “hero” law enforcers” are brazenly acting well outside their lawful authority – which fact ought to result in their being fired and charged with abuse of authority under color of law – but it doesn’t.

They are free to go. To continue assaulting people under color of law.

As a matter of routine.

And, worse.

Consider, for instance, the fate of the Salt Lake City “hero” who brutally assaulted a nurse who declined to perform an illegal blood draw. He has been fired and his victim awarded a $500,000 settlement.

But he is not in a cage. He has not been charged with the criminal assault under color of law he is flagrantly guilty of.

Those familiar with this case know the basic story.

An unconscious car wreck victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. A thug with a badge shows up and – like the thug he is – demands immediate submission and cooperation from the nurse, whom he orders to draw blood from the unconscious victim, despite the nurse very calmly pointing out that it is not legal for her to do this – nor for him to demand it.

In response, the thug with the badge and the government-issued gun physically attacks the nurse, assaulting her for the grievous offense of not obeying an armed government worker’s commands. Even though those commands had no basis in law.

So, what happens?

The taxpayers end up paying $500,000 for the damages caused by the violent, out-of-control and criminal “hero.”

The “hero” himself is merely fired. Not even a fine.

As a thought experiment, imagine the consequences if the nurse had jabbed her finger into the body-armored chest of the “hero,” to make a point. It goes without saying she would have been caged and charged with felony assault upon a “hero.”

She would have faced prison time – not merely the loss of her job.

This double standard is so routinized it might as well be codified – made official.

Isn’t he – whoops! she – handsome?

“Heroes” also feel entitled to shove their porcine snouts into every nook and cranny of our lives. To surveil us using every means available to them (e.g., automated license plate readers, random checkpoints, devices that hack into our cell phones). They demand that we submit to searches of our persons and property – in order to establish we’re not guilty of something.

They seize our money simply because we have “too much” of it.

Etc. Etc.

They wear opaque sunglasses – and tint the windows of their cars opaque – but we are not permitted to tint the windows of our cars  much at all. For “their safety,” we are told; in reality, so that it is easier for them to look inside our cars and so conduct visual searches at random.

Yet these same “heroes” get their backs up when a citizen so much as points a video camera their way.

It is hardly necessary to elaborate. It is like pointing out that the sun has come up – or that it is dark at night.

We have become subjects – and are no longer citizens.

  1. This helps explain the difference between a COP (Civilian on Patrol) and a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer). Even the presstitute media got the message: Their talkers and guests are not using the term, “police,” any more; they are describing them individually and collectively as “law enforcement.”

To me, a police officer is someone who sees a violent crime taking place and makes a positive effort to intervene. Law enforcement is someone writing you some payin’ paper for operating a motor vehicle at a rate of speed of 26 MPH on a quiet residential street with a posted speed limit of 25 MPH as three other vehicles passed you by before you were pulled over.

I can understand the concept of respect for honest police officers. But I can’t have any respect for law enforcement if the law being enforced is stupid and doesn’t result in direct injury.

  2. How is this less egregious than sexual harassment? Hollywood “hero’s” names are being put out there. Why not put all of the “hero’s” names out there?

      • You “that” Ed? The one that always seemed to write something in every rag from Tucumcari to Kalamazoo? You been mighty busy for a long time. I always wondered how Ed could know so much about women’s fashion and farm implements as well. Ed seemed to have a damned opinion on everything. Was that you? I guess the loss of so many printed things has given you a bit of a break on traveling and postage costs much less time worked. It’s about time….bet you’re about wore out…..

        • No, I’m the nutjob retard Ed. I am not a legend, more like a rumor. Remember that Steve Fromholz album, “A Rumor in My Own Time”? I am about wore out, though.

  3. But Eric the US is a free country – and we know it is such because the US has killed millions of people around the world to keep it free. USA! USA! USA!

  4. anarchyst –

So, you “have no problem with police officers who do their job in a fair, conscientious manner”?

That means you have a problem with every single police officer as if you are a police officer you, by definition, belong to a public employee union and unless you are agitating for the abolition of qualified immunity for your brethren and you are agitating for the abolition of asset forfeiture practices of your department and those of other departments and if you have ever arrested an individual for vice crimes, you can not be considered fair and conscientious.

    • Are you a copsucker??
Yes, I do have a problem with police officers who act outside the Constitution…
A police officer who expedites an emergency run to a hospital for an ordinary citizen is doing his job.
A cop who assists someone in distress is doing his job.
A cop who issues traffic tickets (because of informal unwritten quotas) is NOT doing his job.
A cop who kicks in a door to arrest someone for possessing a plant is NOT doing his job.
A cop who is part of a SWAT team kicking in doors and smashing everything in sight, terrorizing the occupants is NOT doing his job.
Police should be no better than private citizens with NO official immunity for their actions.

      • Po Leece serve politicians and judges and of course, prosecutors. When courts say it’s legal then it is. So kicking in doors, killing someone for nearly anything and robbing them all fall into the legal venue of cops. Courts have deemed it so in regards to ambiguous laws passed. Why would a cop help someone in distress? That ain’t in a law? Ifn’ you want an emergency run to the ER you’d better hope some good samaritan comes along and refuses to stop and doesn’t get killed or blocked. I had DPS go around me and stop me on an emergency run. I told them the deal and they were humming and hawing and I said I had to go, got back in the car and hauled ass. To their idiot credit they just followed me to the ER. 25 years later I probably wouldn’t have survived. I need a pocket sewed into the leg of my jeans for my tire bumper these days.

  5. “We” (well not us, but a HUGE portion of the community) BEG the cops to un constitutionally roust more people. Every single meeting the cops have with citizens they BEG the cops to roust more people. Every time we see anyone having any fun we BEG the cops to arrest them. If you see people riding water craft and you don’t have one, you call the cops and complain. People on 4-wheelers and you don’t have one – call the cops. People target shooting and you don’t shoot – call the cops. People filming and you don’t film, call the cops. What is supposed to STOP the Cops from doing the things people are begging them to do, is the Constitution. But once the supreme court started “interpreting” it became worthless. Imagine a world where the 4th Amendment says in plain 7th grade english “no searches without…” but we are told that means “Search anyone anywhere any time. Kick the door in (I thought I heard someone in distress) bring the dog (look my chihuahua is signalling! Can a dog testify in court???) Sad. and nothing we can do about it.

    • Something dark is being done. There’s a new cold war in America these days.

It the Trumpistanis against the International Deep Statists.

Most likely, it will end badly for these Nanny State Blue Staters, including Virginia. A great battle is afoot that is devaluing real estate and commercial viability of the Blue States, the acceleration of the Sun Belt company town revolution is staggering.

It might not end up helping me individually as far as freedom. But it does warm my spite cockles to think of all those Yankees and West Coast Sanctuary Statists becoming immigrant and welfare gibs over-run third world hell holes.

    • They do beg for the cops to hassle people. The more miserable, mean, and meaningless their existence is, the more they want to spread misery and drag others down to their level. One of the problems of living in a small town, the best leave, the dregs stay stuck to the place and try to run down their neighbors.

  6. John whitehead of the Rutherford Institute has been covering this problem for years . You can sign up for his newsletters : wwwrutherford.org.
He reminds us that we no longer live in a land of freedom.
America is now a land of feifdom. We are all now domestic terrorist threats according to the Marxist Department of Homeland Security, which, by the way now controls America’s police . Is it any wonder we are where we are now at?
A militarized police force armed with everything from full body armor to automatic weapons, AMRAPs, grenade launchers and who knows what else and now humpty Trumpty is going to give away even more military hardware to the heroes.
Jeff the redneck Sessions calls for more civil asset forfeiture including states that require conviction. As if this form of criminality wasn’t bad enough, this ignorant hill billy wants even more thievery. Sessions has built his career on persecuting political rivals while attorney general in Alabama. No different that pink cheeks Giuliani.
When a government as lawless and corrupt as the one in Washington has become, its agents abroad will be as lawless and corrupt; worse, they will be protected from whatever crimes they commit by the government and the organizations(unions) built up around them.
The American people no longer have the protections of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights have become negotiable.
The First Amendment is fully under attack: The BDS movement is outlawed in 24 states, the DHS considers anyone who is critical of Washington a domestic terrorist threat. False flags continue to wreak havoc on the lives of Americans. Government spying, TSA groping, license plate readers, cameras everywhere and of course, everybody’s favorite, red light cameras.
The United States of America exists only on paper. The reality is that nation no longer exists even if a certain number of ill informed and brainwashed Americans continue to insist it does. They continue to worship these heroes and those of the military at the beginnings of football games, inside churches and with bumper stickers proclaiming to support our troops, all the while they commit acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Afghanistan, Syria and Niger.
Americans have by and larger lost their collective minds to brainwashing and propaganda.
Is it any wonder the heroes can get away with anything?
Is it any wonder those in Washington can commit acts of treason, crimes against humanity and even outright murder of those it considers a threat including journalists.
The brutal actions of police are merely an extension of the brutality that Washington commits daily around the world. They are agents of the state, carrying out its orders: maim and terrorize Americans into submission.
Both Sessions and Trump are corrupt to the hilt.

    • JohnZ, that’s a really good post there. I wish I had a way to mass mail and I’d spread it as far and wide as possible. And this is the reason I’m considering an iPhone. It doesn’t depend on Googul and my Samsung is et up with the spyware and inability to visit some sites….and it gets worse every day.

I read Fred on Everything every time I get an episode in the mail. He always makes good points and the ones he makes are for me, mostly flawless. He says what I’d say if I had a website. I’ve often thought about creating a verbal diary or comment via smart phone while I’m driving a truck. Lots of time to think doing that and sometimes I find a real clarity of thought while driving. Once off the road it’s Miller time and lay my tired old butt out once I have home chores finished. Sometimes the work of eating doesn’t seem worth the trouble. Not sure when I’d get to transfer my verbal thoughts to paper or electronics as it were but I’d try on those days I’m off…..between other chores. Anyway, Fred often nails some good points since he has time and effort to give so I read what he says. He lately has said this and I give him full credit…..since he wrote it.

      “Slavery Reparations by Fred Reed

On the Web I find that Henry Louis Gates Jr., the chairman of Afro-American Studies at Harvard, is demanding that whites pay reparations to blacks. It’s because of slavery, see. He is joined in this endeavor by a gaggle of other professional blacks. I guess he’ll send me a bill, huh?

I feel like saying, “Let me get this straight, Hank. I’m slow. Be patient.

You want free money because of slavery, right? I don’t blame you.” I’d like free money too. Tell you what. I believe in justice. I’ll give you a million dollars for every slave I own, and another million for every year you were a slave. Fair enough? But tell me, how many slaves do you suppose I have?

In round numbers, I mean…say to the nearest dozen. And how long were you a slave?

Oh, In other words, I owe you reparations for something that I didn’t do and didn’t happen to you. That makes sense. Like lug nuts on a birthday cake.

Personally, I think you owe me reparations for things you didn’t do and never happened to me. I’ve never been coated in Dutch chocolate and thrown from the Eiffel Tower. I’ll bet you’ve never done it to anyone. I want reparations. Kind of silly, isn’t it? But if we’re going to talk about reparations, that’s a street that runs in two directions. You want money from me for what some other whites did to some other blacks in another century?

How about you guys paying whites reparations for current expenses caused by blacks? Not long ago blacks burned down half of Los Angeles, a city in my country. Cities are expensive, Hank. Build one sometime and you’ll see what I mean. Whites had to pay taxes to repair Los Angeles for you. You can send me a check.

Now, yes, I know you burned LA because you didn’t like the verdict in the trial of those police officers. Well, I didn’t like the verdict in the Simpson trial. But I didn’t burn my house and loot Korean grocers, or burn down a city.

Over the years blacks have burned a lot of American cities: Newark, Detroit, Watts, on and on. Now add in the fantastic cost over the years of welfare in all its forms, the cost of all of those police calls people had to make, for cells and jails and security systems in department stores.

I can’t live in the capital city of my own country because of crime committed by blacks. Toss in the cultural cost of lowering standards in everything for the benefit of blacks. See what I mean?

Now, I’d view things differently if you said to me, “Fred, blacks can’t get anywhere in a modern country without education. We know that. We need better schools, smarter teachers, harder courses, books with smaller pictures and bigger words. Can you help us?”

I’d say, “Hallelujah! Hoo-ahh! Not just yes, but hell yes. Let’s sell an aircraft carrier and get these folks some real schools and get them into the economic main-stream.’ I’d say it is partly because it would be the right thing to do, and partly because I’d like to add you guys to the tax base.

The current custodial state is expensive. I’d just love for blacks to study and learn to compete and stop burning places. But is it going to happen? You may not believe it, but I, and most whites, don’t like seeing blacks as miserable and screwed up as they are.

I spend a fair amount of time in the projects. Those places are ugly. It’s no fun watching perfectly good kids turn into semi-literate dope dealers who barely speak English. It just plain isn’t right. But, Hank, what am I supposed to do about it? I can’t do your children’s homework. At some point, people have to do things for themselves, or they don’t get done. Maybe it’s time.

I’ll tell you what I see out in the world, Hank….. I think blacks are too accustomed to getting anything they want by just demanding it. True, it has worked for over half a century. Get a few hundred people in the street, implicitly threaten to loot and burn, holler about slavery, and sadly the Great White Cash Spigot turns on.

Thing is, whites don’t much buy it any longer.. Most recognize that what once was a civil-rights movement has become a shakedown game. Few people still feel responsible for the failings and inadequacies of blacks. Political correctness keeps the lid on — but everyone knows the score….Which scares me, Hank.

On one hand, blacks hate whites and incline toward looting and burning. (The whites you hate are the ones who marched in the civil-rights movement. Ever think about that?)

On the other hand, whites quietly grow wearier and wearier of it. Not good, Hank.

On the third hand (allow me three hands, for rhetorical convenience), blacks keep demanding things. As I write, you demand reparations for slavery. Blacks in Oklahoma (I think it was) want money for some ancient race riot).

Other blacks reject the Declaration of Independence. Blacks in New York hint broadly at burning and looting over a trial, yet more demand the elimination of the Confederate flag, and the federal equal opportunity apparatus, which means blacks, want to sue Silicon Valley for not hiring nonexistent black engineers. That’s a lot of demanding for one month, Hank.

What happens if whites ever say, “No”?

Now, how about you? You’ve got a cushy job up there at Harvard, and you can hoot and holler about what swine and bandits whites are. I guess it’s lots of fun, and you get a salary for it to boot. But don’t you think you might do blacks more good if you told them to complain less and study more?

For example, if you want blacks to work in Silicon Gulch, the best approach might be to find some really smart black guys, and get them to study digital design ~ not Black Studies (as you teach). That’s how everybody else does it. It works. Then blacks wouldn’t feel left out, and racial tensions would decline. Sound like a plan?

Just out of curiosity, how many hours a week do professors of Afro-American Studies spend in the projects, encouraging poor black kids to study real-life subjects?”

      • For almost 150 years the United States has been conducting an interesting experiment. The subjects of the experiment: black people and working-class whites.

The hypothesis to be tested: Can a people taken from the jungles of Africa and forced into slavery be fully integrated as citizens in a majority white population?

The whites were descendants of Europeans who had created a majestic civilization. The former slaves had been tribal peoples with no written language and virtually no intellectual achievements. Acting on a policy that was not fair to either group, the government released newly freed black people into a white society that saw them as inferiors. America has struggled with racial discord ever since.

Decade after decade the problems persisted but the experimenters never gave up. They insisted that if they could find the right formula the experiment would work, and concocted program after program to get the result they wanted. They created the Freedman’s Bureau, passed civil rights laws, tried to build the Great Society, declared War on Poverty, ordered race preferences, built housing projects, and tried midnight basketball.

Their new laws intruded into people’s lives in ways that would have been otherwise unthinkable. They called in National Guard troops to enforce school integration. They outlawed freedom of association. Over the protests of parents, they put white children on buses and sent them to black schools and vice versa. They tried with money, special programs, relaxed standards, and endless handwringing to close the “achievement gap.” To keep white backlash in check they began punishing public and even private statements on race. They hung up Orwellian public banners that commanded whites to “Celebrate Diversity!” and “Say No to Racism.” Nothing was off limits if it might salvage the experiment.

Some thought that what W.E.B. Du Bois called the Talented Tenth would lead the way for black people. A group of elite, educated blacks would knock down doors of opportunity and show the world what blacks were capable of. There is a Talented Tenth. They are the black Americans who have become entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors and scientists. But ten percent is not enough. For the experiment to work, the ten percent has to be followed by a critical mass of people who can hold middle-class jobs and promote social stability. That is what is missing.

Through the years, too many black people continue to show an inability to function and prosper in a culture unsuited to them. Detroit is bankrupt, the south side of Chicago is a war zone, and the vast majority of black cities all over America are beset by degeneracy and violence. And blacks never take responsibility for their failures. Instead, they lash out in anger and resentment.

Across the generations and across the country, as we have seen in Detroit, Watts, Newark, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, and now Ferguson, rioting and looting are just one racial incident away. The white elite would tell us that this doesn’t mean the experiment has failed. We just have to try harder. We need more money, more time, more understanding, more programs, and more opportunities.

But nothing changes no matter how much money is spent, no matter how many laws are passed, no matter how many black geniuses are portrayed on TV, and no matter who is president. Some argue it’s a problem of “culture,” as if culture creates people’s behavior instead of the other way around. Others blame “white privilege.”

But since 1965, when the elites opened America’s doors to the Third World, immigrants from Asia and India–people who are not white, not rich, and not “connected”–have quietly succeeded. While the children of these people are winning spelling bees and getting top scores on the SAT, black “youths” are committing half the country’s violent crime–crime, which includes viciously punching random white people on the street for the thrill of it that has nothing to do with poverty.

The experiment has failed. Not because of culture, or white privilege, or racism. The fundamental problem is that white people and black people are different. They differ intellectually and temperamentally. These differences result in permanent social incompatibility.

Our rulers don’t seem to understand just how tired their white subjects are with this experiment. They don’t understand that white people aren’t out to get black people; they are just exhausted with them. They are exhausted by the social pathologies, the violence, the endless complaints, and the blind racial solidarity, the bottomless pit of grievances, the excuses, and the reflexive animosity.

The elites explain everything with “racism,” and refuse to believe that white frustration could soon reach the boiling point.,.,

        • Morning Anarchyst,

Hope your okay with a little high functioning autistic interaction.

Here’s my take on your police improvement points. (Your March 2016 version)

You say: Police unions are a gang. No argument there, should federal unions be outlawed in your view? I’m for anything that lowers the malinvestment in “heroes” that nobody really wants. (Because they’re not willing to pay their own money.)

Police officers, who want to do the right thing, will have the option of quitting and going private sector, since wearing a uniform will no longer grant them special privileges.

          1. Eliminate both “absolute” and “qualified” immunity for all public officials. The threat of being sued personally would encourage them to behave themselves.

Who is going to make this happen. If they’re isn’t some crony class membership to benefit from law changes, it’s not going to happen in my view.

          2. Any public funds disbursed to citizens as a result of police misconduct should come out of their pension funds–NOT from the taxpayers. Should, but who is going to benefit. I’m for a straight out pension fund money grab. That sounds a lot more up the swamp creatures alley, and it makes me smile thinking about it.

          3. Regular drug-testing of police officers as well as incident-based drug testing should take place whenever an officer is involved in a violent situation with a citizen–no exceptions. Terrible idea. That costs a lot of money and encourages and even larger police power, since now you have even more police who patrol other police.

          4. Testing for steroid use should be a part of the drug testing program. You know damn well, many police officers “bulk up” with the “help” of steroids. Steroids also affect users mentally as well, making them more aggressive. The potential for abuse of citizens increases greatly with steroid use.
Another terrible idea. No support from me there. You can’t fix a problem by making it even larger in my view.

          5. Internal affairs should only be used for disagreements between individual officers–NOT for investigations involving citizen abuse. State-level investigations should be mandatory for all suspected abuses involving citizens. Nah, more policing of the police by other police is the same bankrupting tautology as above. Need ideas that fund the ravenous maw of the international elite at the police expense or similar.

          6. Prosecutors should be charged with malfeasance IF any evidence implicating police officer misconduct is not presented to the grand jury. How. These entities are not under any kind of citizen level control. Who do you imagine is going to make this happen? It has to be insiders with pull.

          7. A national or state-by-state database of abusive individuals who should NEVER be allowed to perform police work should be established–a “blacklist” of abusive (former) police officers. Nope more expense and more Soviet tactics. The opposite is a better idea. Get rid of the sexual predator database and all that other worthless databases that cost an arm and a leg and accomplish nothing.

          8. Get rid of police unions. Police unions (fraternities) protect the guilty, and are responsible for the massive whitewashing of questionable police behavior that is presently being committed.

Yes crush all the public sector unions like Reagan with the air traffic controllers, but on steroids. Take all their funds and power away and give it back to some centralized Moloch, who will make working in the public sector even more miserable.

          9. Most people are unaware that police have special “rules” that prohibit them from being questioned for 48 hours. This allows them to “get their stories straight” and makes it easier to “cover up” bad police behavior. Police must be subject to the same laws as civilians. Fine by me, but how does this happen in your view? I don’t see a path.

          10. All police should be required to wear bodycams and utilize dashcams that cannot be turned off. Any police officers who causes a dash or body cam to be turned off should be summarily fired–no excuses. Today’s body and dash cams are reliable enough to withstand harsh treatment. Body and dashcam footage should be uploaded to a public channel “on the cloud” for public perusal.

Absolutely not. Who pays for bodycams do you imagine. This all sounds like UK reasoning, where government has unlimited funds in theory, and the public sector must always come first. If the US government worked like UK, I’d be for it. But the US government is as dysfunctional as you’ll find.

          11. All interrogations must be video and audio recorded. Police should be prohibited from lying or fabricating stories in order to get suspects to confess. False confessions ARE a problem in many departments. Unknown to most people, police can lie with impunity while civilians can be charged with lying to police…fair? I think not…

Nope. No more resources should be given to cops. Let them make do with what they have, or GTFO.

          12. Any legislation passed that restricts the rights of ordinary citizens, such as firearms magazine capacity limits, types of weapons allowed, or restrictive concealed-carry laws should apply equally to police. No special exemptions to be given to police. Laws must be equally applied.Police work is not inherently dangerous…there are many other professions that are much more dangerous.

Sounds good. I like Trump’s national carry idea. Where your gun license is just like your drivers license. That way, cops and all authorized citizens would use their fire arms in peace, which I support.

Sure it would be nice if Andy Taylor was real. Maybe he is somewhere still, I’d have to see it in print before I believed it though.

I don’t mean to be dismissive, but this is all I can do on my own. My natural inclination is to imagine all public sector people dying in a massive worldwide fire, but maybe its time to try some other solutions that are less inflammatory.

          • You dismiss many of my ideas because you state that “they couldn’t happen in today’s society”. Perhaps you are correct, BUT, I have to disagree with you on some of your points. one being your supposition that drug testing of cops would not be useful. As it stands now, drug testing of cops is almost an impossibility because of union “rules” (collective bargaining agreements). Police DO use illegal drugs with impunity, as they can get away with it because of restrictive union “rules” that only benefit themselves. Steroids ARE a problem in most departments. Putting on a police uniform should result in MORE restrictions on behavior–not less. As to databases of former abusive cops, what is wrong with that?? A national database of abusive cops could help prevent abusive cops from getting jobs with other police departments, which is common today.
What is wrong with award to taxpayers being disbursed from police pension funds? You can bet that if their funds were threatened, the (few) good cops would put pressure on their brethren to “behave themselves”.
Just because you don’t “see a path” to making changes doesn’t mean that change cannot happen. Change can happen if enough people get behind it…All one has to do is look at the collapse of the Soviet empire…something that people more educated than me declared that “would never happen”.
Change starts with one individual. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback with my rants.
            Regards,

            • Face it, anarchyst: it’s time to edit that post you’ve been pasting onto every site you visit for the past 7 years. Your thinking has changed, so edit the little screed to reflect the changes, or you’ll keep getting negative responses to it.

              • I don’t see constructive criticism as negative. I will continue to post in order to get the “message” out. Helping people to think for themselves “outside of the box” is my aim.
                Best regards,

                • This is one of the few places that even allows boxing outside the box.

That is one of the best outside the box experiences you’ll find IMO.

Cheers for your efforts, I’m still digesting it all. Usually crap flows right through, but I’m honestly trying to extract some nutrients this time I promise.

              • No offense to anarchyst. I welcome his passion and appreciate his point of view.

His response lost me as soon as he said I don’t understand drug testing cops would be useful.

That is not the question to my mind.

Lot of things would be useful, but America right now isn’t in a place to spend even more green stamps on even more public works.

I’m counting on Trump to keep axing them, I think he will.

Sadly, he’ll take the saving and roll it all over into the warmongering department.

But the less Leviathan tries to do, the better in my book.

I don’t get how anarchy is that hard to grasp.

I don’t want my mailman. Or the address on my house.

Or somebody to see if my food is safe or any of that.

If possible, I’d trade the entire government in for a single Chinese or Japanese megaconglomerate.

Just provide the stuff you insist on providing. And tax me or otherwise force me to fund it.

                And then be done.

It adds insult to injury, expecting me to waste my last few remaining minutes on any kind of government utopia mongering.

                • I agree with drug testing porky, as long as it’s an electric koolade acid test kinda thing. Where’s Ken Kesey when we need him?

Wasting time on mongering of any variety kind of pisses me off, too.

        • What if the experiment was to create a permanently poor and dependent underclass that was a threat to the working and middle class? To manipulate people against each other?

I think this is much more consistent with the facts. They knew every step along the way that were damaging, not helping.

The social engineers damage groups of people and then use the results to say ‘look, these people can’t take care of themselves’ or worse and then use that as justification to expand the management of society by government and experts.

          That’s what’s going on IMO.

      • 8, thanks for the Fred Reed column. He is absolutely spot on, as he often is. I especially like this: “Oh, In other words, I owe you reparations for something that I didn’t do and didn’t happen to you. That makes sense. Like lug nuts on a birthday cake.”

  7. The “law” is two lawyers and a judge either functioning in a constitutional way or not.
The police simply reflect what the courts allow them to do.
Said laws start in the Congress.
It is all about money and the legal stealing of said money by a court of law.
For example: stealing money, bypassing the courts, under the guise of drug enforcement without any conviction in a court of law. Just because someone has money on them they are not guilty of anything except “suspicion” and that is enough for a cop to steal. Especially in the south.
You can get a better version of law from the Mafia than you can from this bunch of crooks.
The entire system was originally set up on a checks and balances system that was basically self correcting between the three branches of government and the media which in the past was competing newspapers. Every major town had at least two if not more newspapers in the past.
Basically when the “law” is the crooks what do you do?
Until this country full of sheep wakes up, the answer is nothing except avoid them while you can.
Get another crook to prosecute them. Get a lawyer. But even that is not enough.
When police get warrants on no evidence you have a problem with the judge. Fire the judge.
When police act in an unprofessional manner fire them.
Do away with unlawful searches. That means do away with squads that break into people’s homes.
The checks and balances on police is not there. It used to be there with Internal Affairs departments.
If Internal Affairs refuses to do their job fire them and get people that have pride in their professionalism.
Here is what happens if it isn’t changed. Anarchy.
Even police are afraid to go into neighborhoods that have guns.
If people are not given justice and respect then eventually the police will not be safe on our own streets.
It all starts with being honest, professional, and not being a pimp for the lawyers.
The court system has become corrupt and lawyers are a main cause of it.
If you go for workman’s comp they will steal 1/3rd of the back pay. It takes time to get it and they will not even consider you without one of their brothers of the Law Association.
If you buy a house they will rip you off to the tune of at least 800 dollars for a title search and then the bank forces title insurance on you in case they were too lazy to do their jobs. That title search is about 15-30 minutes worth of work with county records. Nice pay!
The US Congress is made up of huge numbers of lawyers.
They have voted themselves the best payroll and benefits in history and the sheep didn’t even protest.
It is no wonder the Police are in league with them to our bankruptcy one way or another. Like confiscatiing a car on suspicion not even going through a court of law.
When the police become thieves and the people lose all respect for them, they cannot do their job.

  8. All of these videos of citizens going out of their way to film heroes is quite funny. They all seem to take place in midwestern states. If one did that in NYC, the camera would disappear out of evidence and the person filming would disappear as well – likely awaking from a concussion handcuffed to a hospital bed.

NY’s decent to utopia is very far along. 25 years ago my 5’6 jewish schoolteacher neighbor dared not wait for a scooter cop to finish writing a ticket and pulled away. He was greeted by six patrol cars whose 12 heroic occupants pulled him from his car with his seatbelt still fastened. When one MENSA hero undid the latch as the other six were pulling on him, six of them fell to the ground on top of him. These were the porcine obese Irish cops before the department was diversified. Literally over a thousand pounds of pork fell to the ground.

A 5’6 man in his 50’s was then beaten by six heroes and given enough brain trauma to cause an epileptic seizure. I saw what he looked like two weeks later and he was a broken shell of a man.He eventually won a large civil settlement but nothing ever happened to the heroes.

If a 5’6 jewish school teacher could be beaten for not waiting for a parking ticket, I shudder what the notoriously corrupt NYPD that has a thing for inserting things in men’s rectums, would do to a “smart ass” with a camera filming them. Once out of the public. The NYPD were doing Freddie Gray style “rough rides” years before their Baltimore comrades made the news. On their end of the month arrest quota filling, they were arresting men walking on the street by the dozens and driving them around shackled inside police vans where no cameras were and no prying eyes. They beat the hell out of guys, robbed them and even broke one guy’s arm after he stood up to them. Then they drove around slamming on the brakes and making sharp turns to throw them around the inside of the van and stopping to fill it further until the shift ended and their quota was filled. Talking on a street corner was enough “probable cause.” Sitting in a car and arguing with your wife on a cellphone was “probable cause” as well.

I personally do not understand the need to draw attention to one’s self with a visible camera filming these badged terrorists when any modern dash camera the size of a tic tac box can accomplish the same thing without drawing pork’s attention. Being right is not the same as being smart. We are very far outside the time when being right meant anything in this country. Legality is no defense.

  9. And people still look at 1930’s Germany and wonder how it happened there while insisting it could never happen here.

    Wake up. It’s already underway.

  10. We live in a two class world, just like in feudal times. Instead of lords and peasants, we have government employees versus the public.

We have a modern version of prima nocte: http://nypost.com/2017/11/06/cops-accused-of-raping-teenage-girl-quit-nypd . Two cops rape a girl, and they get to voluntarily resign the force.

I tried to find a Will Norman Grigg article I read a few years ago, but he described a police trial where an officer raped a woman during a traffic stop, and she defended herself and hit him in the face a number of times. The trial was her trial for assaulting an officer. The officer’s union lawyer argued you have no right to resist a cop, you have to comply, even if it’s rape, and then file a complaint later.

One land, two different sets of laws. This is the beginning of the end.

    • I’ve been to court and seen and heard much injustice and have experienced myself. As a child I was taken to a kangaroo court for rustling and realized it was a rigged deal.

Later in life I’d be the defendant. If there’s even the slightest chance I can now pull it off it will be the the 3 S’s. If I were to be present during something like a rape by cop the woman could have rightly observed that she was about to be raped when a masked man killed the cop and left.

BTW, I need a new neoprene face mask since my old one is worn out. I have looked for a new one but the hunting/biking style are simply face masks and I’d like a whole head style without the expensive and not to my likely style of the diving type. Those diving types have too large a portion removed around the eyes leaving too large an area to cover with glasses or goggles. Any suggestions?

      • Nah, 8. Forget about all that mask crap. You just need to show some vulnerability. People love that shit. They eat it up. All the lady could describe is how you made her feel, you know, emotionally and all.

        • Here’s the deal, and I thank everybody for suggestions, but I’ve been in an 18 wheeler in the dark for 2 hours in the morning and through the day back into the dark and without a heater. I need something other than my Carhartt hood to keep me warm. I can’t stop the airflow….and it’s cold. It makes my sinuses hurt and I have a face ache all day. I’d turn the heater water on but during the day we gain 60 degrees and I sweat like a hog and then freeze my ass off when the sun gets low. Like I’ve always said, if you don’t like the weather in west Tx. just wait a little while.

Besides, I have to pass through one of two school zones multiple times a day. Mothers don’t use the crosswalk and have drug their children across the street right between the 80 year old and the 84 year old’s rigs…..while I was shitting a brick watching it back behind them. They slammed on the brakes and nobody was hurt. I just want a good face mask, something along the lines of one of those scare the shit out of you types but full head for warmth. I reckon that will get fat mom’s asses in gear(fat moms, every damned one, geez, it’s depressing, young, fat moms…..) I will probably get stopped too but i couldn’t care less. I can just put my mask back on and keep trucking. Just FEAFEFH’s. Well, I guess that I’m through with that job, but it probably isn’t over, just a break. Buffalo Bayou, 12,185.3 acres and I won’t name the company since I’m grateful to them for the work.

BTW, I won’t be videoing the cop stop since I’m not a SJW. I can deal with that shit on my own. Thank god for 3/4″ rebar.

  11. This guy should quit while he’s behind. I couldn’t hear what he said in his “explanation”. He’s the epitome of “I wanted to do this but just don’t have the balls for it”. Ok, we get it. Not everybody is meant for this type of thing and that means you fella.

  12. “That being said, I have no problem with police officers who do their job in a fair, conscientious manner…however, it is time to call to task those police officers who only “protect and serve” themselves.”

Quite the anarchist eh? Fair? Conscientious? Going after people for victimless crimes is fine as long as they follow the “fair, conscientious” doctrine?

Naw man, I am the anarchist since I don’t believe the cops even have a right to exist. Not sure what you are but I’ll be kind and not put a moniker to it.

  13. Great piece Eric, because all you wrote is true. YouTube is loaded with scads of videos of absolutely outrageous behavior of cops.

American copping is completely out of control. You will trust these people at your peril, ESPECIALLY if you have done nothing wrong.

  14. If anything, police should be held to a higher standard than that of the public…As it stands now, police can commit crimes with impunity because, in most situations, they investigate themselves…Behavior that would get an ordinary citizen charged, convicted and incarcerated is routinely ignored by “the powers that be” because police are considered to be “above the law” as the “law” is whatever they say it is, the Constitution be damned…
Police officers are the only group that can murder someone by falsely claiming that “they feared for their lives”, have 48 to 72 hours to “get their stories straight”, and have a union lawyer and compliant prosecutor-steered “grand jury” absolve them of responsibility.
Police demand immediate compliance (Israeli-style)–with two or three cops issuing and yelling out conflicting commands, it is easy to see how a person under police control could lose his life for merely attempting to follow conflicting directions.
Ever notice that police unions are “fraternal”? This should tell you something. The “thin-blue-line” is a gang, little different than street gangs–at least when it comes to “covering-up” their questionable and quite often, illegal and criminal behavior.
In today’s day and age, “officer safety” trumps de-escalation of force. This, in part, is due to the militarization of the police along with training in Israeli police tactics. This becomes a problem, with the “us vs. them” attitude that is fosters, along with the fact that Israel is a very different place, being on a constant “war footing”, its police tactics are very different.
There are too many instances of police being “given a pass”, even when incontrovertible video and audio evidence is presented. Grand juries, guided by police-friendly prosecutors, quite often refuse to charge those police officers who abuse their authority.
Police officers, who want to do the right thing, are quite often marginalized and put into harms way, by their own brethren…When a police officer is beating on someone that is already restrained while yelling, “stop resisting” THAT is but one reason police have a “bad name” in many instances…this makes the “good cops” who are standing around, witnessing their “brethren in blue” beating on a restrained suspect, culpable as well…
I realize that none of the suggestions below will ever be implemented, but…one can hope…
Here are changes that can help reduce police-induced violence:
    1. Get rid of police unions. Police unions (fraternities) protect the guilty, and are responsible for the massive whitewashing of questionable police behavior that is presently being committed.
    2. Eliminate both “absolute” and “qualified” immunity for all public officials. This includes, prosecutors and judges, police and firefighters, code enforcement and child protective services officials, and others who deal with the citizenry. The threat of being sued personally would encourage them to behave themselves. Require police officers to be “bonded” by an insurance company, with their own funds. No bond= no job.
    3. Any public funds disbursed to citizens as a result of police misconduct should come out of police pension funds–NOT from the taxpayers.
    4. Regular drug-testing of police officers as well as incident-based drug testing should take place whenever an officer is involved in a violent situation with a citizen–no exceptions.
    5. Testing for steroid use should be a part of the drug testing program. You know damn well, many police officers “bulk up” with the “help” of steroids. Steroids also affect users mentally as well, making them more aggressive. The potential for abuse of citizens increases greatly with steroid use.
    6. Internal affairs should only be used for disagreements between individual officers–NOT for investigations involving citizen abuse. State-level investigations should be mandatory for all suspected abuses involving citizens.
    7. Prosecutors should be charged with malfeasance IF any evidence implicating police officer misconduct is not presented to the grand jury.
    8. A national or state-by-state database of abusive individuals who should NEVER be allowed to perform police work should be established–a “blacklist” of abusive (former) police officers.
    9. Most people are unaware that police have special “rules” that prohibit them from being questioned from 48 to 72 hours. This allows them to “get their stories straight” and makes it easier to “cover up” bad police behavior. Police must be subject to the same laws as civilians.
    11. All interrogations must be video and audio recorded. Police should be prohibited from lying or fabricating stories in order to get suspects to confess. False confessions ARE a problem in many departments. Unknown to most people, police can lie with impunity while civilians can be charged with lying to police…fair? I think not…
    12. Any legislation passed that restricts the rights of ordinary citizens, such as firearms magazine capacity limits, types of weapons allowed, or restrictive concealed-carry laws should apply equally to police. No special exemptions to be given to police. Laws must be equally applied.
13 “Asset forfeiture” is a form of “legalized robbery under color of law” and must be abolished. We must return to Constitutional principles when it comes to “crimefighting”. The so-called “war on drugs” is actually a “war on the citizenry” and has had an extremely corrosive effect on the Constitutional principles that our country is (supposed to be) founded on.
    14. “No-knock” raids must be abolished as they put both police and (especially citizens) in harms way. Even the Nazis “knocked on the door” before gaining entry.
    15. SWAT teams must be reigned in on their “dynamic entry techniques”. Smashing everything in sight “just because they can”, blaming it on an “adrenaline rush” must end. There is NEVER a reason for destroying property.
Police work is not inherently dangerous…there are many other professions that are much more dangerous.
A little “Andy Taylor” could go a long way in allaying fears that citizens have of police.
That being said, I have no problem with police officers who do their job in a fair, conscientious manner…however, it is time to call to task those police officers who only “protect and serve” themselves.
