  1. OT: Gray-haired boomers will recall sensational rumors in the late 1960s that ‘Paul is dead,’ meaning Paul McCartney of the Beatles (who is still with us). Now there’s a new version: Trump is dead.

‘Donald Trump has been pictured with his granddaughter Kai after wild internet rumors about his death began to circulate.

‘The president looked frail as he loaded the motorcade on the south lawn of the White House. Before the photos were released on Saturday, Trump had not been seen in public for several days and had no official engagements scheduled for the weekend, leading to widespread speculation about his whereabouts.

‘Worries about Trump’s condition began to skyrocket online after his absence on both Thursday and Friday. The widespread online chatter speculated that something significant may have happened with his health. Terms like ‘Where is Trump?’, ‘It happened’ and ‘Trump is dead’ were becoming viral topics on X, with the President doing nothing to quiet these rumors. It comes just days after viewers spotted a sinister health warning sign in Trump’s fingers after new close-up photos emerged.’

A couple of days ago, Raider Girl opined that Trump might not be around much longer. Quite possibly her comment ricocheted around the internet, mutating after 24 hours and multiple retellings into Trump is dead. To quote the Orange One’s own words:

“Today the Highly Partisan Fake News incorrectly said that Trump is Dead, but they know the United States of America will win in the end,” Mr. Trump wrote. “If Trump ever went away, it would be a Total Disaster for the Country.” He lives! 🙂

  2. Completely agree about flag burning, Eric.

Also, although the has been repeatedly defended as Constitutionally-protected free-speech, of course our Pumpkin-hued Overlord has decreed it illegal:

“Desecrating it is uniquely offensive and provocative…” Says the Pumpkin King

“And if I offended you, oh I’m sorry…
But maybe you need to be offended
But here’s my apology and one more thing…
    Fuck you!”

  3. A few days ago I rolled into a school zone (25mph) that’s about a half mile long covering three schools. The first one I passed was the elementary school. Three cars pulled out from there right behind me. I dropped my speed to 15 and by the time I reached the end I’d picked up four more cars from the other schools.

I can be passive aggressive with the best of them.

  4. Here in Georgia, the state legislature passed a law that school districts can install speed cameras in school zones. It reminds me of the original Star Trek episode “Court Martial” where the captain had to prove his innocence against the almighty computer. There’s no point in doing anything other than obeying the law to the letter – otherwise, you risk getting a fine. Fortunately, the schools I have to pass by all have the flashing lights sign. You’d best believe I’m doing 25 MPH and no more when the lights are on.

    • I was waiting for someone in Georgia to chime in and mention this!

I’ll second this. I’m in Gwinnett County, and I got a ticket on a day when school was out and there were no flashing lights. I have no kids in school and so I didn’t even know they had installed speed trap cameras there. You get a ticket with a nice photo of you and your vehicle and literally NO information on how to actually fight the ticket – no court date and when you call the ticket company, just ‘do you want to pay by credit card or money order?’ Basically, Goodfellas style ‘screw you…now pay me!’

The whole disgusting extortion racket makes an utter mockery of due process. No way to challenge the tickets, camera calibration, or the ‘school resource officer’ who rubber stamps them.

IIRC, the extorted funds are split between the police ‘public safety budget’, the schools and the camera company (run by ex-police.) They strategically place the cameras where they’ll generate the most revenue, not where any actual kids walk and ‘safety’ could (allegedly) be ‘improved.’ Ours is on a 55-mph four-lane split highway with NO foot traffic or residences. The exceedingly few kids who do actually walk to school do so on a winding 25-mph street with no cameras because it just wouldn’t be profitable to place them there! Same with the high school that has no cameras (yet!)

All my neighbors and their kids have gotten them. Some have paid close to $1000 before they even knew the cameras were there. They just got a dozen tickets in the mail on the same day! I read an article in the Gwinnett Daily Post about families living next to the school getting $8000+ worth of tickets before they knew what happened.

In my experience, living in the so-called ‘free’ Red States is no better than living in the Blue States. I’ve done both, and all are rapidly devolving into total police states in one way or another.

Hell, our county just paid millions to install metal detectors and more surveillance at several middle and high schools. I even watched a local news cast where they had tricked some poor, dumb 4th grade girls basically into complaining (clearly from a script) that ‘there’s too much freedom and too many guns roaming around and their safety was important, too, so why didn’t they get some of those millions for metal detectors?’

I guess the reinforced police battalion stationed at every local school isn’t enough to ‘guarantee’ their safety, and ‘guaranteeing safety is the primary job of the government – says so in The Constitution!’ The statist, servile comments by hysterical parents cheering this lunacy on were deeply troubling, too.

  5. It really disappoints me at how “conservatives” embrace censorship just like the “liberals” do. Neither side cares for freedom and liberty anymore. The political atmosphere in this country reminds me of the old Stealers Wheel song. “Clowns to the left me. Jokers to the right. Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.”

  6. It’s a mixed bag around me, some school zones have the flashing yellow lights with the sign – lights active it’s 20 MPH, if off then the normal road limit. Some no lights but state “when children are present”.

The “gotcha” is school zones with just the sign and of course the “7:00 to 4:30 school days” in small print you can’t read from more than 30 feet away. Friend got pinched in one of these, 4:10 not a kid in sight the cop nailed him wouldn’t accept the no kids around argument.

And as usual the law only applies to the law abiding tax payers. The vibrant sub humans will just ignore any of this, news had a video from inside a school bus of a car zooming in a flash of speed between the bus and the kids in the bus stop. Yes, passed the bus on the RIGHT side it was a miracle no kids got pasted. Typical also cars passing school buses stopped with the sign out and lights flashing. Can’t arrest them why that violates “equity policing” and “restorative justice “!

  7. I’ve experienced this a lot. I also find that the odds of it happening are higher when an automated speed camera is present. In the summer, 10PM or on Saturday makes no difference as these midwits will slow down to a lot less than the school zone speed limit (when school is open) out of fear of a ticket and massive fees.

  8. Around here, the cops sit in the school parking lot and take radar whether school is in or out. I suppose you could fight that ticket, but I’d prefer to not engage with an armed government worker at all, weighing the inconvenience.
