The parallels with old Soviet Union are really interesting to me, in particular that America is currently ruled over by a senile gerontocracy ever more gerontocratic than the old Soviet gerontocracy. Also, Brezhnev and Chernenko and Andropov were at least sort of respectable. Trump is grotesque. A spray-tanned, pompadoured oaf and vulgarian who makes the Soviet oldsters look like statesmen ad scholars.

That’s simple to answer. Sheep demand to be ‘led’ by someone. They cannot imagine doing their own thinking, so the only question for them is whether their flock is to be red or blue.
Although, to be fair, blue being naturally collectivist does attract many more of them.
Apart from that, the Trump/Biden geriatric performances only show that the ‘real’ power resides not with these addled old men, who are but mere puppets, but with those whose names are never on the ballot paper.
Which is also why voting harder is futile and the West’s direction is firmly set.
