Unfortunately, this is standard fare in hillbilly households. I am married to a man who could give JD a run for his money when it comes to stories of redneck life with drug addicted egg and sperm donors who couldn’t be bothered to be parents.
JD’s story is only strange when one hasn’t lived it or know someone who has. The sad thing is I believe most people have lived pretty tragic lives. The “normies” aren’t that normal.

I was referring to ML’s post, but lots of people change their names especially if a parent is out of the picture, they were adopted, to suppress certain cultures and backgrounds, or they just hate it.
My nephew was adopted by my parents, his last name was changed from the one he was born with. Why? The sperm donor was never in the picture and my parents wanted him to feel like part of the family so they had his last name changed to theirs.
Hollywood is famous for this. It wouldn’t surprise me that politics shares the same values.
The changing of name from a child to adulthood or for a career doesn’t raise my eyebrows.

I think we will end up with one Gen X president before the Millennials take over. Ossoff is too young. He has very little name recognition outside of Georgia.
Shapiro and DeSantis will both be out of the governorship by the time candidates start throwing their hats in. You can already see both of them distancing themselves from current situations (e.g. Shapiro’s criticism of Netanyahu, both of them back tracking on data centers, etc.).
There is no one to run from either side. The Dems will not run a woman, because they have no chance of winning. If Israeli money is going to determine the election we can expect both of these guys at the top of the ballot.
Vance will be prez by the end of spring next year. I can’t see the Ds not going full impeachment should they take both the house and senate…which seems to be a pretty good bet at this point. Heck, they might even go after ol’ JD and install the Speaker of da’ House. Wouldn’t that be a kick in the head?
Think they can take 2/3 of the senate? That is unlikely in the extreme.
Though as communists are wont to do, they may arrest and cage or kill a republican “Menshevik “ minority so as to have 2/3 of the remaining senate to vote.

I think the outrage over the conduct of the Orange Turd will flip the Senate as well but it won’t be near close enough to impeach. AK and TX are both leaning Dem right now in their Senate races (TX Repuke candidate being repulsive to independents will be the difference). The question is how many of the other Repukes who are not up for re(s)election this year will come to regard being attached to Trumpenstein to be detrimental to his political futurea and want him gone. He is toxic to everyone but the “base” right now so you cannot rule anything out.

But, the Dems would have to flip four seats….Texas, Iowa, Alaska, Maine, Ohio, or North Carolina. NC the Dems will take, but to flip three more strongly held Republican state Senate seats I don’t see how the math is mathing.
Collins has been a “toss up” for almost 30 years and yet she continues to hold her seat. There are two things to consider here: 1) do votes actually count and 2) will Republicans cheat?
