The Fed is a big inflation engine at war with the price of gold. In the 1970s gold shot up first forcing the Fed Paul Volker to tame inflation by raising rates to record highs.
The chart above shows this. Unfortunately I am unable to draw this chart myself as FRED charts do not have the function to do so. But if you examine the chart closely, just the price of gold vs the interest rate lines, gold leads.
The Fed must raise rates again because gold has taken off vertically again. The Fed is going to have to hold interests high again to force gold prices down again.
I posted the interest rate montage below to show that in the UK and Germany, long bond rates are already marching to new highs. That implies USA long bond yields will soon breakout to new highs also.
