As of Thursday morning – just shy of two weeks into Trump’s decision to start a war with Iran on behalf of the state of Israel – the cost of crude oil is surging back toward $100 after a brief decline that occurred after Trump stated the war he started is “nearly over.”
Because it’s obviously not.
Though it is hard to get any real news about how the war is going, it is undeniably far from over. The Iranians vow to push the cost of oil to $200 per barrel – and that will be the biggest boon to the EV Agenda since the federal government began giving affluent EV buyers $7,500 tax credits because that sum is what most of us could soon be paying to gas up our vehicles each year. Of course, EVs won’t be saving us anything – due to them costing so much to buy.
Heads we lose. Tails, they win.
Maybe this is 55D Chess in action? What if – among other things – Trump was put in place to hammer the final nail in the coffin of vehicle ownership for the masses? Intentional or not, that could be the end result – one of them – of this war. Trump brays that America has lots of oil – and Venezuela also – which is true. But it does not mean that the oil in Venezuela is extractable anytime soon or that closure of the Strait of Hormuz isn’t going to affect the cost of oil – and gas and diesel and so everything – in America.
It is already affecting it. To the tune of about 40-60 cents more per gallon for regular unleaded. Diesel is about $5 per gallon in many areas. Considering that shipping – truck and rail – relies heavily on diesel, Americans can expect to be paying an additional War Tax at the supermarket soon.
That is just so far.
If the Iranians continue to win – by not losing – they may well succeed in punishing us by making us really pay for what Trump is doing to them. Trump literally does not care. He literally said so – about gas (and diesel) prices. “If they rise, they rise,” he said.
“I don’t have any concern about it. They’ll drop very rapidly when this is over, and if they rise, they rise, but this is far more important than having gasoline prices go up a little bit.”

Naturally he doesn’t have any concern about it. He is a billionaire for one and for two, as president, it is the taxpayers who pay to fill up his armored limos, helicopters and jet airplanes. He lives high on the hog – one sumptuous meal after another – on the dime of taxpayers who struggle to pay for basic necessities for themselves and their families.
Jimmy Carter had the decency – or at least, the common sense – to wear a sweater when he urged Americans to cope with the cost of heating their homes by turning down the thermostat.
Trump’s glib callousness is pretty appalling. Even more so his arrogant assertion that “this is far more important” – by which he means using American resources (and lives) to topple an adversary of the state of Israel is far more important than whatever it costs Americans, including the lives of their sons and daughters – who may be dragooned to “serve” when it becomes plain that Iran can’t be defeated without being occupied. Or nuked.
It may be even more important to keep people’s minds off the Epstein Stuff, which is closely related to the Israel Stuff.

This war isn’t Operation Epstein Fury. It’s Operation Agenda 2030. Remember, Klaus said we would “own nothing” by the target date, and the ruling class has less than four years to bring that prophecy to fruition (presumably via runaway inflation). Inflation has been the “new” scamdemic since 2022 and it’s going to get much worse before it gets better.
It seems doubtful oil will reach $200 per barrel but only because the economy will collapse before it can.
This is also why any spike in EV sales will not be sustained, if it happens at all.
People buying them are affluent and that affluence for most of them is only an appearance based on credit, loans and a fake number on the value of their home, savings and investments.
If the economy crashes and banks start calling in debt there will be no money for new cars, certainly not disposable ones like EVs.
Fact is anyone who is financially stable and sound won’t have been buying new cars anyway, they’d be buying and keeping good used cars. Maybe a good enough fire sale will get them to wander into a dealership. Maybe.
Anyone with cash to buy a new car isn’t going to be wasting that liquidity on a car in the middle of an economic crash and probably world war.
I doubt oil will get to $200/bbl but only because the economy will collapse before it does.
Which is also why it seems doubtful gas prices going up will sustain any spike EV sales.

Good synopsis. The only point I would disagree with is #5. I find that most narcissists’ deal from an emotional standpoint. Very few are ever calm and collected enough to point out someone else’s emotional state. At least from my experience, it leads back to they are the victim. They are unable to read another person’s emotions since what they think, say, or do is their only concern.

This is Trump’s legacy. Anything good that he’s done is gone from the collective conscious. I will not “vote republican” as the myriads of tv/radio ads suggest. In fact, I probably won’t vote at all.

As for the higher gas prices about all you can do is plan your driving route such as you do all your shopping in one longer trip rather than going to multiple locations multiple times a week. Of course you could park the F250 and use the smaller sedan you probably also have to commute with but that might cause a loss of status so we won’t do that.
As for municipal transit buses? Good Lord no I’m not getting on one of those these days.
RE: municipal transit, this was back in 1998 Seattle. Added new meaning to “Express Flyer”. Lately it’s shootings, stabbings, second hand fentanyl exposure.
