I voted for President Trump – three times. Not so much for him as against the alternatives, which is the rock-hard-place many of us feel we’re in because it feels as though there’s no alternative to either-or. Yes, of course, we have the other alternative – which is to note vote for either-or and there is merit to this but also futility because our not voting for either-or will not prevent either-or from winning the election. And since it is probably true that most of us would likely not vote for either (i.e., the “Democrat”) the practical result is that or ends up losing if we choose the third alternative and then we end up with either (i.e., the Communist).
So we vote – many of us – and got either, who increasingly seems to be morphing into a kind of golden iteration of Kim Il Sung, the Great Leader of North Korea whose enormous bronzed effigy (along with that of his son) stands tall in Pyongyang where people are obliged to leave flowers and bow when first arriving in the capital city.
Will Americans soon be required to lay flowers before the barrel-chested effigy of Donald Trump? Such idolatry is already commonplace. Trump is – as far as I can tell – the only living (and sitting) president who has had statues erected in his honor. Most Roman caesars were only deified post-mortem.

I will, of course, be denounced for not showing the proper respect for the Dear Leader. Never mind that I voted for him three times. Apostasy cannot be tolerated. And – to his credit – not even the Decider sought to have his image carved on Mount Rushmore alongside Jefferson and Washington. It was enough for him to dress up like a carrier pilot. 
I felt like Winston Smith in Orwell’s 1984, surrounded by lunatics who seemed to believe that the chocolate ration had been increased. Cue the obligatory vapid smile of enthusiasm.
I told a number of my Decider-venerating friends at the time that we might just end up with something we didn’t want, courtesy of the Decider. Some of them came around when we got the smiling Kenyan as our new Decider.

I had the same disappointments and concerns with Trump as many others, but I didn’t have to worry about making a “lesser of two evils” choice because the election was still stolen. Actually it still was; if they allow Trump to win it’s still a stolen election. When the stock market got destroyed a few weeks ago it pissed me off and I made comments to a few of my Fox news watching friends Trump was “out of control” and he needed to be reigned in (preferably by clowngress) Geez I was immediately met by howls of disapproval. Its idolatry plain and simple
