The War Situation Has Developed Not Necessarily to Japan’s Advantage . . .

The headline is what the emperor of Japan said when he announced why Japan was surrendering on August 15, 1945. This was shortly after two Japanese cities had been obliterated by atomic bombs.

A similar situation has developed with regard to electric vehicles – and GM was just announced without actually saying the words that it is surrendering, too. About 360 workers at the Factory Zero plant in Detroit-Hamtramck – which is where it makes the device made to look a Hummer as well as the related device that is made to look like a Cadillac Escalade (which GM calls the IQ, as if it were smart to buy a device that is in every functional way inferior to an actual Escalade) – will be “temporarily” laid off and two production shifts idled.

2024 vs. 2025 Hummer EV sales

“Factory Zero is making temporary adjustments to production to align to market dynamics,” said GM spokesman Kevin Kelly – channeling Hirohito. “General Motors updates schedules as part of our standard process of aligning production to manage vehicle inventory.”

Ahem.

The truth, of course, is that almost no one is buying either device. This year so far, GM managed to offload about 8,400 of the things – which is fewer than GM offloaded last year. This ought not to be surprising given this device lists for $96,550 for the truck-shaped iteration and $96,500 for the iteration made to look like an SUV. Leaving aside that they’re devices, there only so many people who have that kind of money to spend on a vehicle. Let alone one that’s also impractical.

Then there’s the hilariously named Escalade IQ. It lists for $127,405 – which is only $39,810 more than the Escalade with an engine but you do get an additional 4 miles of advertised driving range (460) vs. the Escalade’s actual – as in realistic – 456 miles of highway driving range. The misrepresentation of how far devices will actually go in the real world is one of the great unremarked scandals of our time. It is tantamount to the scandal that would erupt if the manufacturer of any vehicle claimed the thing would take you 40 miles on a gallon of gas but did not tell you that this was possible only if you didn’t use the AC or heat and drove like a hyper-miling Prius driver, accelerating the vehicle sloooowly and avoiding high speeds, even if that means not keeping up with the flow of traffic (especially on the highway).

Consider the absurdity. The IQ is not a Prius. One could purchase four of those (at $28,350 each) for the price one IQ and have $14,005 left over for gas. Enough to keep one Prius going for probably ten years or longer. The IQ device touts power and performance you can’t realistically use much because making regular use will rapidly and massively diminish the advertised driving range (I can personally attest to this phenomenon, having test driven most of the high-performance-touting devices made during the past several years and having personally experienced what happens to the range when don’t hyper-mile a device).

Even if you are willing to drive a six figure-plus “high performance” device as if it were a Prius in order to avoid dealing with the hassles of rapidly depleting charge and preposterous waits for recharges – which is as absurd as buying an airplane that can’t fly to taxi up and down the runway in – there is nothing you can can do about the weather.

People are now clued in to the fact that EV battery packs deplete much faster in very cold weather as a consequence of compounding problems. The first is that it uses up a lot of electricity – quickly – to keep you warm when it is cold out. The second is that it uses up a lot of electricity to keep the battery pack warm (necessary to prevent it from suffering expensive ill effects and also to allow for recharging). So even if you are willing to freeze when it’s cold out, the EV’s systems cannot allow the battery to freeze; that means running the heater for it – and that will reduce the charge available for driving. Plus, you’ll still be freezing!

Better not use the heated seats and steering wheel, either.

It’s the same – in reverse – when it’s hot out. The battery has to be kept cool and you probably also would like to remain cool. But AC draws electricity, as does the cooling system for the battery.

These facts were deliberately suppressed when devices were first pushed hard by the government and the go-along car industry, including GM. But kind of like the “safe and effective” drugs that were never vaccines, the truth leaked out and you have to be a really die-hard  person to be willing to pay extra – top dollar – for a device that you’d demand a mandatory buy-back for were it a vehicle. Rich people especially tend ot have very little tolerance for hassles, including waiting on account of them.

So it ought not to be a surprise that GM has only managed to offload about 2,000 IQs so far this year – as opposed to about 30,000 Escalades bought by people who do not suffer from the debilities associated with having a low IQ.

Despite all this, GM still seem to believe the war is not lost; that the idling of the production line is merely temporary. Not even Hitler was this delusional in the final days of the war. Even he admitted der krieg ist verloren a few days before he bit down on that cyanide capsule to avoid the reckoning that was coming.

Will GM get smart before its too late?

  1. My favorite car brand, Lotus, also had a reckoning recently. They were acquired by Geely, a Chinese company which saved Volvo. Geely thought Lotus would be selling 75,000 cars per year, mostly EV SUV’s built by Geely in China with a Lotus badge on them. They sold almost none, and only sold like 3,000 cars total, most of which were the Toyota and AMG powered gasoline Emiras. They also thought they’d be selling more than 10,000 Emiras annually and overstaffed, so at this point, 80% of their workforce has been sacked.

It looks like the EV buyers who wanted them have them, and with the mandates weakening, these EV pipe dreams are collapsing.

    • Indeed, OL –

Lotus esteem the visceral experience and that is something a device can ever have. An electric Lotus is like a tranny “woman” – who is of no interest to most men.

      • Not really. The Tesla Roadster used an Elise structural tub and a lot of the suspension and interior parts, but the body, powertrain, HVAC, all was done by Tesla.

I ended up buying a Lotus Elise when Tesla couldn’t deliver the Roadster that I reserved, and it took years for them to refund the deposit. The deposit was more than the all-in price of a used Elise, so I bought an Elise instead. Best choice ever! It’s been the most rewarding car that I ever owned, and learning to drive it properly taught me to drive lots of other cars properly as well. I had that car for nearly 18 years, and only sold it recently.

  2. Charging stations are all standard… NOT!

GM has new adapters for every conceivable combination of NACS and CCS1

So now, instead of the boring old gasoline pump with hose, valve and tube all basically the same (at least for cars and light trucks), you can have the luxury of a trunk full of adapters!

FTFA: The first adapter that GM released, which cost $225, allowed CCS1-equipped EVs to connect to a NACS charger. But now, GM will have a range of adapters so that any of its EV customers can charge anywhere, as long as they have the right dongle.

At $225 a pop that could get expensive pretty quickly. Better make sure the kids (because the wife will of course know better) are aware that the adapter goes back in the trunk, don’t leave it on the charger. Look for salespeople to “throw in” the adapters instead of knocking a grand or so off the sticker price.

“Oh, but it’s still early days!” they’ll cry. Bulls**t! The Tesla roadster was introduced in 2008. Sixteen years is plenty of time. Twisted-pair Ethernet was standardized in 1990 and it was nearly impossible to buy the wrong cable by 2000. Certainly didn’t need a box full of adapters for very long. Oil companies and automobile manufacturers standardized on a pump and fuel inlet design, and there were once far more of both than there are EV companies.

    • “Certainly didn’t need a box full of adapters”

Don’t underestimate the level of confusion that is possible.

USB was first standardized in 1996. Now 30 years on the combination of USB-A, USB-B, mini, micro, USB-C, USB1, USB2, USB3 and now USB4 data rates, USB-PD power delivery is mind boggling.

I’d wager 1% of the users understand it at all and can get accomplished what they intended.

  3. Factory Zero is making temporary adjustments to production to align to market dynamics,” said GM spokesman Kevin Kelly –

Translation… Nobody in their right mind wants these POS.

I think Hitler Hemingwayed himself or that’s the official lie.

Keep up the good work Eric!

  4. “Then there’s the hilariously named Escalade IQ. It lists for $127,405”

Tack on all the fees & taxes and round up to, say, $150,000. That’s damn near $3,000 a month for five freakin’ years!

  5. Two Japanese cities were obliterated by atomic bombs mostly because the Jews could not get their Jew-bomb ready before Berlin fell. Perhaps one of the biggest favors Hitler did for the German people was losing in May 1945 and not in August 1945, because if he had held out until then likely Hamburg and Berlin would have been Jew-nuked.

Of course Hank Morgentau had already leaked the Morgentau plan in 1943, and Theodore Kaufman had already gotten his book “Germany Must Perish” published in September 1941 long before Pearl Harbor. Kaufman’s book calling for the Jews to genocide every German on the planet had been announced in March 1941, months before even Barbarossa had begun and long before Jews had started their fake Holocaust fantasy.

This all relates back to Eric’s closing statement that: “Not even Hitler was this delusional in the final days of the war. Even he admitted der krieg ist verloren a few days before he bit down on that cyanide capsule to avoid the reckoning that was coming.”

It is important to keep this in context. Jews declared war on Germany in 1933. Jews were publishing books demanding the genocide of Germany and all Germans before Barbarossa and WWII really got going. Jews developed the atomic bombs that were going to be dropped on Berlin and Hamburg. The Jew Ilya Ehrenberg wrote tons of propaganda calling for the rape and murder of every German.

Why is this relevant to this thread? Because it is Jews and their claimed god given right of Tikkun Olam to heal the planet that is the source of all this EV bullshit that is really about burdening the stupid goyim with so much debt that they turn into indentured slaves. Hitler had every reason for holding out as long as he could. Mary Barra (CEO of GM) is just a typical brainless stooge put into place by Jewish Power. She has pissed away what was once the most powerful automobile company on the planet.

    • The USA is ZOG-owned territory.
We have been paying for jewish perfidy since before the end of WW2.
If people knew what jews REALLY think of us “goyim”, there would be a pogrom of massive magnitude. Even before WW2n the warning signs were there. The declaration of war on Germany by world jewry in 1933, (yes, 1933) along with Theodore Kaufman’s book Germany Must Perish should have been a wake-up call for us goyim. Sadly, that would not be the case.
The premise of Theodore Kaufman’s tome Germany Must Perish is being carried out in Gaza and the West Bank as we speak.
Kaufman’s book is still in print and is an eye-opener, especially when the jewish specialties of total destruction and genocide are noted.
Germany was indeed the “canary in the coal mine” that was decimated by jewish interests at our own peril. Germany was a true “economic miracle” that recovered from the great depression much faster than other western countries as it threw off the shackles of the Rothschild banks, something that the jews could not abide by.
As to the atomic bombing of Japan, Nagasaki was chosen as it was the seat of the Roman Catholic Church in Japan.
It is interesting to note (and still goes above most people’s heads) that if not for WW2 German scientists, the USA would not have had a viable space program.
As to blame for the genocides presently being perpetrated by jews, I assign collective responsibility to world jewry, not just zionists as over 82% of jews worldwide approve of the genocides taking place. It is self-interest, not any sense of moral responsibility that drives the few jews who are protesting against the genocides.
How the world can allow this outright mass murder to go on is beyond me…
I would hope that a reckoning is coming…

      • Thanks Anarchyst. I don’t know what proportion of Jews support the genocide of Palestinians. To me it doesn’t matter if it is 82% or 22%. What I want to know is what proportion of Jews support the fake Holocaust and who deny the over 2000 years well documented justifications for “antisemitism”. Being expelled from 109 countries over 1000 times should be proof enough. Not for Jews though. I would bet 99% of Jews would attribute these expulsions to “antisemitism pandemics”, while feigning ignorance to all their egregious crimes against humanity like AG does.

        • It amazes me how a purely automotive subject triggered you two horny twinks to fellate each other over the JQ, again. There are some real weirdos here

          • It amazes me how nasty genocidal Jews like you have to kvetch and fling spittle all over any post you find offensive. Hell, you’d think the entire planet except Jews was composed of Amaleks.

  6. While the 460 miles are probably good for most people, what I have found with ebikes are 3 factors that apply to ecars. Weight, speed & inclines.

Flat road, 1 person of moderate weight, and of course no air/heat/lights/wipers, etc sure, might get around 460. No one drives in those conditions.

This restriction applies to real cars too, but isn’t a concern due to refueling ease and availability.

Considering a battery that can propel a heavy ecar such a distance must need extra charging time, which = extra cost, what is the advantage? Pay more up front, then pay more to make it go.

I don’t see the logic in the purchase.

  7. Probably not true but we all a laugh sometimes.

The Goldberg Brothers – Are well known as the Inventors of the automobile Air Conditioner.

Here’s a little known fact for automotive buffs, or just to dazzle your friends. The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Maxwell, invented and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946 , the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees.

The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford’s office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter.

Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees inside, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately.

The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent.

The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, ‘The Goldberg Air-Conditioner,’ on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed.

Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Jewish, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg’s name on two million Fords.

They haggled back and forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown…

And so to this day, all Ford air conditioners show — Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max — on the controls.

  8. The Court Situation Has Developed Not Necessarily to Trump’s Advantage

‘A federal appeals court ruled on Friday that many of President Trump’s most punishing tariffs were illegal. The ruling, from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, affirmed a lower court’s initial finding in May. But enforcement of the order is delayed until mid-October, allowing the tariffs to remain in place so that the administration can appeal the case to the Supreme Court.

‘The adverse ruling cast doubt on the centerpiece of Mr. Trump’s trade strategy, which relies on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA, to impose sweeping duties on dozens of the country’s trading partners.

‘The appeals court ruling implicates a vast set of tariffs, some of which date back to the beginning of Mr. Trump’s presidency. They include some of his toughest duties on China, Canada and Mexico, and his so-called reciprocal tariffs, which Mr. Trump later revised and began collecting this month.

“Today a Highly Partisan Appeals Court incorrectly said that our Tariffs should be removed, but they know the United States of America will win in the end,” Mr. Trump wrote. “If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country.” — NYT

    https://archive.ph/2zvnk#selection-725.0-725.254

Haven’t read the decision yet. But I hope the law lords thumped hard on Article 1, Section 8 of the constitution, which is pellucidly clear that Congress, and ONLY Congress, gets to set tariffs — not some orange-maned Queens real estate promoter with a fourth grade education, who thinks Adjectives and Nouns need to be Capitalized.

If dimwitted Trump drove an Escalade EeeVee, it would need a custom “Low” badge affixed in front of the ‘IQ’ nameplate. Meanwhile, the Orange Hooligan is headed for an epic beatdown at the Supreme Court. Whack him again, lads — harder! 🙂

    • It didn’t take a rocket scientist to come to the realization that the POTUS does not have the authority to unilaterally impose a tariff on any foreign goods. Art. I, Section 8 specifically states: “The Congress shall have Power. . .To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations. . .”

Nowhere in Art II does it even hint that the POTUS can impose a tariff. Hey Donny, in case you didn’t learn this in grade school, there’s a separation of powers under the US Const. If the tariffs are so important, maybe you should ask the governmental branch with the actual power to impose tariffs to pass a bill for you to sign.

With all that said, WTF is with the appeals court? They have the balls to read the US Const and correctly rule, determining that Trump’s tariffs are unconstitutional (i.e. in violation of the highest law of the land), but delay it for 2 months so the unconstitutional tariff can continue to be collected. WTF? Where do they come up with the ability to do that?

When it does go into effect, and the the Supreme Court upholds the order, will I receive a refund of the portion of the unconstitutional tariffs that were passed on to me? Of course not.

      • The idiot congress gave that power to the executive, and it’s been in effect since the days of FDR. Probably the Supreme Court will overturn this appeals court’s grossly political ruling. Not that I like taxes but until the feral gummint is forced back onto existing on tariffs and gets rid of the slave tax of 1913, this kind of thing is going to be necessary.

We’re fighting to get rid of a 112 year old infection of parasitic communism, the fever is gonna suck but without it the body is going to die.

        • “The idiot congress gave that power to the executive, and it’s been in effect since the days of FDR.”

This is an unconstitutional delegation of power. The Congress can’t alter the terms of the constitution by legislation. The constriction has to be formally amended, the process of which is clearly set forth in the const.

  9. These devices are, as I’ve mentioned before, political products, not economic products.

They are not built in accordance with the law of supply and demand, but in accordance with the dictates of governments. The market does not demand them nor supply them because consumers actually want them—the government orders them to be built.

I’ll also add that these devices are also religious products. How so? You see, environmentalism is not a science, but a religion. It’s a religion in the sense that it has an angry god that humans have displeased not just because of what they’ve done or failed to do, but because of who they are, and humans must make sacrifices—including of themselves—to appease, lest humans meet their doom.

As our society has ditched God, by which I mean God in the Judeo Christian faith tradition upon which Western civilization is based, other gods have supplanted God. Earth worship, I mean environmentalism, is one such false god.

So anyone who buys a device is doing so for political and religious reasons, not economic reasons. Trouble is, most of us average schmoes can’t afford to do that. We need vehicles, not devices, and many of us can’t afford to pay $24,000 for one, let alone $124,000. There you have it.

    • There is no such thing as ‘Judeo Christian.’ If there were, I would vigorously advocate the destruction of both its putative oxymoronic components.

      • Get rid of the “judeo” in Christianity and Christianity will do just fine.
        Question:
Why do Evangelical Christians love Israel and Netanyahu?
        Answer:
        It’s all about the shekels.
That fat bastard Hagee is a prime example. A close second is that of those who preach the “prosperity gospel” insisting that “God” will make you wealthy if you just “believe”…which couples directly with judaism which celebrates the worship of money and wealth, strictly jewish concepts.
Every Christian or Catholic sect that promotes judaism is not following any of the precepts of Christianity or Catholicism.
Judaism is the exact opposite of Christianity or Catholicism and must be recognized as such. The concept of “judeo-Christian” faith must be abolished.
Is it possible to be a Christian or Catholic without falling into the error of promoting the jews?
        Absolutely YES.
The Old Testament “God” is a vengeful “God” who has to constantly remind “his people” “who is boss”. Punishment was always a part of the equation.
Contrast that with the New Testament “God” who is a “God” of mercy and forgiveness…two different concepts, indeed.
Keep in mind that jews have never repudiated supremacy, slavery or genocide. All three abominations are still a part of jewish doctrine. It’s all in their talmud.
The worst people of any faith or belief system are those who “wear their faith on their shoulder” who insist that “their way” is “the only way”.

      • The point is that our society has stopped believing in God and worshipping God for well longer than 50 years now. However, that does not mean our society now believes in and worships nothing—it means we believe in and worship anything. Environmentalism is one of those things we now believe in and worship. Safetyism and Healthism are also things we now believe in and worship.
But environmentalism, safetyism, and healthism are akin to paganism in that there is no possibility of true atonement, redemption, salvation, or the promise of a better world here or in the hereafter. They’re all about gloom and doom, and even blood sacrifices won’t save you.
Again, despite claims of “following the science,” environmentalism, safetyism, and healthism are not sciences, but religions. That’s why they can’t be reasoned with.

    • Don’t be ridiculous, with top slave tax rates pushing 70%, once average income is around 500k, everyone can afford a 90k car. 350k in taxes, leaves 150k for everything else, so a 90k car, which costs only about half a year of real income, is quite do-able.

All we need is a truly epic wave of inflation and everybody will be making 500k. See how easy it is?

      (Need I append the /s?)

      • Hi Ernie,

Yup! In my circle, no one can afford a new vehicle. Most of us are – were – pretty successful in our fields and (until the past five years) had no difficulty earning enough to support a comfortable, middle class life. Most of us no longer can. We have had to dial back on everything except necessities and when that becomes a problem, it’s going to be a big problem.

  10. “This year so far, GM managed to offload about 8,400 of the things”

Wow! They found 8k marks so far this year?

Still way too many fools supporting the grift.

Sucker born every minute.. still proves true.. 😃

    • The “crabwalking” Hummer device commercials resonated.

You could almost hear the proverbial pin drop in the room last Thanksgiving at my in-laws whenever one of the ads appeared on the TV during the sports ball games, even with the sound muted.

  11. As far as I know, some states are STILL pushing to have the ONLY new automobiles available for sale by 203X be EVs, using the BS excuse of “Cliiiiiiiiimate change”. But if people continue buying regular gas vehicles instead and EV sales continue to fall, will such states double down on their demented EV push and try to decree MANDATES that people who wish to drive an automobile get an EV? Good luck with that, as most people can’t even afford to buy a super expensive EV. This whole EV push isn’t about “Saving the planet” at all. Those behind it just don’t want the masses driving an automobile period; they want to make driving and automobiles soooooooo expensive that ONLY uber wealthy elitist b******* can afford it.

  12. Eric, you can’t compare 2025 sales with 2024 sales like this because 2025 isn’t over yet. However, looking at those monthly sales figures gets you a daily production rate of 40 to 60 vehicles, something that is accomplished in 2 hours of production a day. Any engineer working on this would feel useless because none of his efforts helped anything.
