I think that the public is shaking off the fear because a bunch of them have gotten the jab. The second thing is that I believe that the death numbers for the jab are under reported. The numbers are likely higher. In the EU, the numbers that I saw a month ago were 4000.
I like your idea of actively “testing the waters” in stores that formerly wouldn’t allow people in without masks.
