Orwell’s 1984 is a remarkable book for many reasons, including the author’s acute understanding of the political psychosis of our times – about which he wrote a long time ago (in 1948).
We can see what he wrote about all those years ago in today’s lunatic veneration-hate for Elon Musk by both the left and the right.
Four years ago, the right despised Musk as the arch-grifter of the Green Grift. It regarded his Teslas as even worse than Priuses – which were once the standard object of vehicular derision. And they were right – about Musk being the arch-grifter of our time. He became a mega-billionaire via the “carbon credits” grift that bankrolled Tesla via funds extorted from what are derisively styled “legacy” car companies, meaning those that made vehicles rather than devices. The latter were – and are – styled “zero emissions” while vehicles are held to “emit” things that are bad – specifically, carbon dioxide. Which is like saying oxygen is bad. But in any case, vehicles “emit” this “carbon” and it must be “offset” – in order to avoid punishment from the government – and buying “credits” from Tesla are the way this penance is paid.
Tesla – and so, Musk – also cashed in on stock market valuation predicated on government creating a “market” for devices by (effectively) out-regulating vehicles, thus leaving no alternative to devices.
In addition to all of that, there was (and still is) his ominous advocacy of technocracy, incarnated in his devices – which were among the first to tether the putative “owner” not merely to a cord but also to Tesla, which could send “updates” whenever it liked to add (or subtract) from the device’s range. And tracked the movements of the device’s owner, thus keeping track of him.
Tesla also pioneered charging for the use – via subscription – of options such as Full Self Driving, which the “owner” never really “owned.”
People on the right also rightly chafed over the way Tesla got away with selling “self-driving” devices that drive into things and people, too.
Elon – and Tesla – could do no wrong – in the eyes of the Left. And that rightly enraged the right.
What a difference four years later makes!
Now it is the right that venerates Musk – and the left that despises him.
The right has forgotten all about his rent-seeking and grifting (of a piece with the right’s forgetting the Orange Man’s “vaccine” pushing, which he has yet to apologize for let alone repudiate) and now sees the Elon Man as the man who is going to get government under control. This is astounding. It is like putting Al Sharpton in charge of reforming affirmative action.
Mire finely, it is astounding it can be swallowed. But then, the right has demonstrated it can, will – and has – swallowed and even cheered many such things, including a “homeland” in place of a country and a witless, beady-eyed human ferret as president.

The left, meanwhile, has changed positions with the right and now regards the Elon Man as a very bad man – chiefly because he is now allied with the Orange Man, who is the baddest man of all. And also because the Elon Man bought Twitter and now the friends of the Orange Man are permitted a degree of free speech again – provided, of course, that they pay the Elon Man for the privilege and are very careful to not malign the Orange Man or Israel.
But it’s ok to critique Keeeeeeeev.
Leftists such as the aging songstress Cheryl Crow are turning in their Teslas – and some of them are burning down Tesla superchargers – the oddly mechanical name given to those electric kiosks where Tesla device owners sit and wait for a charge.
Most recently in Littleton, Massachusetts.
The local police said the charger kiosks were “engulfed in flames and heavy, dark smoke.” This is an act on par with the Easter Islands smashing their Moai statues to pieces, having decided their gods were no longer worthy of worship.
A Boston man – presumably a man of the left – was recently caught “tagging Tesla vehicles with Musk decals and sharing the footage on X.”
That is, vandalizing Tesla devices.
After he was arrested, the man said “he had the right to deface the property of others, citing free speech, according to police.”
Fox News reports that “Tesla car owners, dealerships and charging stations have been targeted nationwide in protest against electric carmaker CEO Elon Musk and his involvement with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to slash wasteful spending and fraud within the federal government.”
In Oregon, another former fan of the Elon Man shot up a dealership that sells his devices.
The times have changed, indeed.
Or – rather – they have come to fruition, as predicted by Orwell in 1984, back in 1948. What he foresaw was an age of ideology uber alles. More finely, of mindless following of ideologies and in a way, not even that as much as those who are perceived to be doublesplusgood incarnations of ideology.
Musk was that – to the left – only fours ago.
And now he is that to the right.

Indeed he was. Elon Musk became the richest man in the world (supposedly – because the Forbe’s list doesn’t count Rothschild’s trillions) based on the CULTURAL DELUSION that CO2 was a warming gas – which it isn’t. For those of us who know the truth and the real science, we held Elon in contempt because he made money on one of the biggest state lies ever promoted – that Carbon Dioxide increasing was a threat to the planet. We KNEW AGW was a state sponsored scam, and we knew that CO2 was a trace gas which has never forced warming on planet earth. This is common knowledge amongst real climate scientists – who the media ignored while they trotted out high school flunkies like Greta Thunderborg.
As far as I can tell, this high school level greenhouse gas math book, called “Global Warming: A closer look at the numbers” has never been shown on television or mentioned in any print.

Take a look at the first chart. The first thing to note is water vapor is the primary greenhouse gas (which is conveniently never mentioned) causing 95% of the greenhouse effect. Then CO2 rings in at 3.618%, and man made CO2 only 0.117%.
Damn, AGW is only about a ten of one percent – yet this huge alarm over CO2 and huge diversions of money to subsidized electric vehicles – over basically nothing. And that cultural delusion of runaway warming is how Elon made billions. So when Musk did his own global warming presentation, he stated all the misconceptions about CO2, I watched it, and came to the conclusion he is not so smart after all. He doesn’t know either, he is just a good business man in an era of grift. He believes because he makes money on the belief.
I don’t expect anyone to believe me that CO2 doesn’t warm, that belief is so fully lodged in the public mind, it is like a religious belief of salvation by a Jew man on a cross – who died for your sins. Elon is getting death threats unearthing the evil DC money laundering, so in a way he is dying for our national sins of fiat money excesses. Sin is invisible and unprovable, you can not prove sin is on your soul keeping you outside the Pearly Gates, the gated community of heaven – likewise CO2 is invisible, you can not prove or disprove CO2 is warming the earth uncontrollably. And if man made CO2 is only 0.117% – it would be near impossible to measure the effect because it is so slight. What you can do is look out your window and see the snow, feel the cold, which has not gone away. Right here in Southern Oregon the forecast next week is more snow. But they said our children would not know snow – 20 years ago.
The big joke, and I mean big joke is that Elon’s Tesla is worthless in snow and extreme cold – and we are still in the Ice Age, we never left the ice age, we are only in the interglacial – which will someday end because the claims about CO2 are false. Our culture is fighting warming when the earth is actually cooling into the long period of glaciation (which eventually covers all of Canada).

He starts off asking “what is needed to address the climate crisis?”. Nothing, since climate crisis is a political hoax. The climate is exactly as it was for the last 200 years as detailed by climate expert Tony Heller, his website is real climate science.
Elon Musk’s assumption that there’s a climate crisis being caused by CO2 emissions. He is wrong, and if his assumption is wrong, his entire argument is wrong. His next mistake is that CO2 going into the atmosphere is “very unusual” when most of earth’s history, CO2 has been 10x what it is today. The correct thing to observe is that CO2 in the atmosphere is recovering to pre-ice age levels. He shows a short range chart, and concludes that CO2 rate of growth is “an extreme threat” when in fact CO2 levels are at 1/8 gas tank full level, and plant growth has vastly improved from CO2 going up from pre-industrial levels of 280ppm to the current 420 ppm level. This has double crop yields, a dramatic benefit NOT an extreme threat. Then Musk makes the BIG Al Gore mistake, he assumes temperatures are rising also from CO2 when in fact long before any human effect, the earth warmed all by itself FROM EXTREME LOW CO2 levels. That observation in itself negates the CO2 causal hypothesis. CO2 only follows temperature, never causes it. During the last ice age maximum the earth warmed without human causality, this was 20,000 years ago, when humans were insignificant cave men of a very small population. 2 mile thick ice that covered all of Canada melted, oceans went up 300 feet. NOT CAUSED BY US.
The bottom line is that Musk sells electric cars based on government subsidies, so his presentation supports what he sells. He was wrong again and again and I give him an F- for factual understanding of climate vs. CO2. He has it all wrong, which is why I ask, is this guy really that smart, or is he a put up job like that flunky that runs Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, who has no idea how to code yet wrote the code. Uh huh, something is very fishy with both of these men.

What concerns me is going forward is regarding future candidates, let’s say on the right-side of the political spectrum, will have to be a billionaire. Left-side only will have to be some grifter who adheres to their ideology. Take a guy like JD Vance, so far he appears to be a good guy, articulate and principled. Could he become president? I don’t think he could stand up to the banana republic as we currently have. You would have to be a billionaire to keep out of jail at this point. At least that is my concern.

I think one of the best come back stories in life was Jim Plunkett and it seems to be overlooked by many. He was a Heisman Trophy winner and first round pick from Stanford and went to New England Patriots. The Patriots of old were lousy and he got creamed and hurt really bad. They dropped his contract after a few years, and he was out of football. However, Plunkett used this time to heal. After recovering from his injuries, he ran a marathon. The 49’ners picked him up as a third string back up then cut him. The Raiders at the time had their playboy quarterback Pastorino and were doing well but needed a backup and signed Plunkett. I remember watching a game at Oakland and Pastorino got hurt and Plunkett came in. It was something like the second play (his first pass) he threw a 40-yard touchdown. The Raiders went on to the Superbowl that year and won against Philadelphia Eagles.
I always thought this was a *Rudy* type story that someone should have made into a movie.

The older I become the less faith I have that most people (not all) have a moral high ground. During the Plandemic we saw it on full display. I do not look at Trump, Musk, or any other person in government has ethical beings. We can all tell if someone is principled by not what they say, but how they live. Words are cheap, actions speak volumes.
In that same breath, I realize the world is an ugly place filled with people whose intentions are questionable if not downright evil. Someone has to do the dirty job of skinning the deer carcass. I can separate the man vs the mission. I do not have to like someone for us to share the same goals on a particular issue or matter.
