My recent article about the bad marriage we’re not allowed to leave got picked up by Zero Hedge, which has a bigger audience than EPautos. I am always grateful when this happens, for the obvious reasons. But I’ve been noticing something suspicious happening.
When my articles get picked up by a big site such as Zero Hedge, it is usually the case that lots of other sites also pick it up – and that is what happened this time. You can see for yourself by scrolling through the comments section to see the ping backs, as they are called.
Well, they just all of a sudden stopped. I wondered why. I began to look into it a little and found several instances of the article that had been reposted elsewhere having been taken down – as in “no longer available.”
Why? 
Then I went back to Zero Hedge to see whether the article was still available there – and it still is (as of 10:29 a.m. Friday morning). As I type this, the article registered about 24,000 views – on Zero Hedge. In addition to that, about 275 comments. But I discovered – just now – that no more comments are being added. “We’re sorry, we were unable to load comments at this time. Please try again later.”
Mind, the article has only been up – on Zero Hedge – for less than 24 hours. I do not know whether Zero Hedge has a policy of closing down the comments section within less than 24 hours after it publishes an article; maybe so. If so, it’s odd. Because why would Zero Hedge or any site do that? The comments section here at EPautos is open eternally; people can post comments in response to articles that were posted a decade ago.
Anyhow, it strikes me as odd. Especially since the closing of the comments section at Zero Hedge coincides with several of the other sites that picked up my article and “pinged” me to let me know they did have, apparently, taken it offline. I suppose it was too Wrongthinkful.
What else could it be?
It is of a piece with the weirdness that finally caused me to stop wasting my time trying to build up my readership via Xcrement, formerly styled Twitter. Xcrement would sometimes allow what I posted to be seen, giving me an incentive to post/interact with people there. Then my “feed”- or whatever it is – would get cut and no matter how many things I posted or how many replies I offered up, I would get zero response, which cannot be possible given that just 24 hours prior I would routinely get a dozen plus in return for the same effort. 
I also began to notice Xcrement would delete people who followed me. I found this out because some of the people who followed me told me this happened.
It’s all very subtle and sufficient to make one rather paranoid. Is it possible there is a suppression technology in use that is so hard-to-see that it is very effective for exactly that reason? Is it capable of throttling the visibility/viewership of web sites such as this one that are neither Right nor Left and for exactly that reason exceptionally Wrongthinkful? My Bad Marriage piece is an example. So also the ones I’ve published lately about Trump. We know Trump has sicced the apparat on at least one media figure – Jimmy Kimmel. Whether his show is good or bad is not the point. The point is he got sicced-on for annoying Trump.
Maybe I have, too. Maybe it’s why there’s this weird ebb and flow of traffic and visibility.
I wonder. What do you think?
Addendum: It turns out it may be Apple – or a web browser – that is diddling with Zero Hedge (and EPautos as well as probably every other media outlet). If you are using a browser that blocks peddlers – data miners who want information about you to sell to peddlers – you may be sluiced off the information highway into a dead-end cul-de-sac.Such is life in our Brave New World.

Eric I link you all the time and just checked, that article can be accessed still by clicking on my link when I posted it – https://nothingnewunderthesun2016.com/2025/09/24/101976/. However, I have noticed another strange anamoly on your site over the past few weeks. Whenever I want to copy anything from your articles when I link them, I can no longer directly copy from your article as before. I literally have to do a print option to be able to copy anything. Your website is the only site that this occurs on when I’m linking my daily articles. Have you changed anything?

UPDATE: I am able to copy/paste (transpose) text from the site. It may be that you have an issue similar to the one I wrote about earlier that has to do with the browser you’re using. Have you tried other browsers?
My system is old and I can no longer update Chrome. I think eventually I am going to have to update my computer in general to newer versions. Just odd that I can highlight other site’s articles and copy and paste but not yours’. I can’t even highlight the text in this reply even.

Strange thing though. I like what you do to the point that I clicked on the donate button, jumped through the hoops to send you $100, because I believe in alternate media and know it needs financial support. I received no acknowledgement which I found strange, but okay. I just checked my CC transactions and you are not there! Apparently, it didn’t go through. I’m using a bogus name tied to a real email account, but could you see if you did get something in the last couple of weeks from the same domain? Hmm, if Eric is having that many troubles, comments disappearing, etc. and if you, Joe, are as well, then I would like to think that Eric is doing something right, and is stepping on some not-nice-people’s toes (being nice here-bwa ha ha). I have frequented Zero Hedge many times, and do not recall their comment section disappearing the way it is being described. Makes me wonder if Bots have infiltrated the site to indiscriminately “weed out” the “undesirables”? Or perhaps those willing (and dare to) ask questions.

I am certain there are methods being used to subtly marginalize and side-show any commentator or site that is perceived as a real or potential threat to “the system.” The technology to do this is, I suspect, automated. It works beneath the surface and is very effective for just that reason. The way Xcrement works provides some insight. People are allowed to post. But the algorithm manipulates visibility – “reach.” You are left talking to the hand – which is much more effective than an outright ban.
I have noticed on two occasion this year where my thoughts were censored by mainstream press. Recently I tried to post blasting a “school” zone Scamera in a Palm coast paper only to be listed as “spam”. I typed it out word for word.
In an other comment to “Tampa bay times” which would always acknowledge a letter to the editor with a return email confirming receipt, none. I sent it 2 to three times.
There is hidden censorship going on. Some pages will no longer allow post.
Things are much worse than you know. My situation is likely more extreme than your’s for reasons I am not clear on, but it allowed me to bait the system out there into making itself visible to me. Knowing what I know, here is the stuff you have not seen.
You have the spark, so when you were in grade school, you were probably identified, and flagged. Kids of domestic surveillance people would have been moved in to gather information on you. You might have noticed periodic anomalies with them, like them doing strange things, or knowing people they would not acknowledge knowing, or having information about you they should not have. When you started this site, your monitoring noted it, and when it began to look successful, if you did not already have the next door monitor, one or more of your neighbors would be moved out and replaced with a surveillance family. They will have normal jobs, appear normal, but they are in domestic surveillance. And they are certainly listening in your home, and maybe watching.
You will get followed everywhere, but not obviously. You may notice you never leave your neighborhood without a car passing your driveway while you are in it, and you will get the oncoming car going in when you go out, and going out when you come in. When you get to the grocery store people are always exiting their cars as you exit your’s, like every time, and their people will track you through the store.
Online, X is not deleting your followers by chance. Somebody doing that knows your name, and has orders. This site may be invisible to various readers, but if so, that will be controlled enough it will be tough to detect as they will keep those readers entirely separate from you.
People don’t realize it but America has become a shadow dictatorship ruled by something just like the old Stasi, and it does not like you having an audience.

ZH comments are weird. Article and comments load fine for me Sep 26, 2025 at 1546 EDT. It’s only one higher at 276, so it doesn’t seem to maybe get as much traction as their meat-and-potatoes like Trump doing a thing or Ukraine.

Speaking of ZeroHedge, I have noticed a serious decline in the quality of articles they choose to pick up since the Orange Turd took office again. Too many of what the post begin with “Radical Left” and “Deranged Leftists” or headlines that amount to cheerleading the Orange Turd and his minions, basically trying steer readers into WHAT to think. I can make my own mind up about what happened after reading, thank you very much. What was a reasonably decent news aggregator site has begun to descend into Gateway Pundit style “conservative” idiocy. The only redeeming feature that remains is the comments on articles about Israel or Ukraine which show how many on the erstwhile right have woken up on those topics.

Agreed, 100%. They’ve always had a certain propagandistic bent, but lately it’s really over the top and fully in support of the state.
I believe the downhill slide began a few years before that, when Google punished Zero Hedge for a COVID-19 article by removing ad revenue. This opened the door for Epoch Times to ‘come to the rescue’ and gain editorial control. ZH is now fully assimilated into the right-wing media circle-jerk of statist outlets like Gateway Pundit, Infowars, Breitbart and lessers like Brandon Smith who publish the same tedious, blatant propaganda articles days apart.
I still quickly peruse the ZH headlines for a heads up on potential major catastrophic events, but I no longer comment. I was very surprised to see them publish a libertarian author like Eric with thoughtful, interesting opinions since authors other than right-wing statists have been seemingly verboten for some time at Zero Hedge. There are still a few in the comments section, but they don’t last long.
They had a fracas with a kid they hired (Colin Lokey?) around the same time. He warned them where their site would end up if they abandoned what made them unique and hitched their wagon to the GOP/statist apparatus. Judging by their declining traffic stats, his warning was prescient. I guess like at Infowars, money once again trumps principles. That, or they never had any to begin with! Sad, because I have a lot of good memories of vigorous debate at the Zero Hedge comment section!
Anyway, thank God for EP Autos (and Lew Rockwell, where I discovered EP Autos) and its uncensored, unmanipulated comments section. It’s brought back some of that magic and joined the rotation of my morning go-to sites.

I never said I was going to bend the knee, and I am doing my best to be the genesis or constituent of a parallel society. I’m becoming a one-man (one-woman and dog), post-apocalyptic engine of creation. But the old powers don’t like and eventually won’t tolerate little sparks of independence such as mine. It’s a question of if we will even be able to fight them at all, soon.
You know, the rodents out here seem to be infinite and unstoppable. And not that I like the analogy, but perhaps we could become like them. The biggest gatekeepers to content are advertisers, or their resellers like Google. When their ad widgets are on your websites, they threaten to cut all ad revenue unless you remove the ideologically incorrect article. It’s all highly automated and impersonal and non-negotiable. I’ve no idea if the “establishment” influences their choices, but given the recent news about the Biden regime asking Google to de-platform opposing voices, it’s entirely possible.

Try another browser. The comments section did not work for me under Safari, but did under Brave. One can still post as well. It is Apple blocking the comments, not Zerohedge.

Apple, eh? The same company that sold me a new computer that needed a new mouse/keyboard before the thing was even four months old. I’m cranky today. And I miss my goddamned dog.
Sometimes, sites don’t work as well in Firefox or Safari as in other browsers because these two actually block a lot of trackers and fingerprinting technology which tries to identify you as a specific target for ads. If a site integrates these trackers unskillfully, it’ll stop working if the trackers are blocked. Trackers are installed because they enable advertising revenue sharing. The private market built a surveillance network the CIA could only dream of.
Every site you visit tries to figure out who you are to show you ads deemed most likely to be effective. To do this, they need some identifiable info from your browser, and browsers try not to give more info than necessary, but it’s a complex arms race. Chrome and Edge are produced by companies that run ad networks, so they have an incentive to leak more info. Firefox is pretty good, Brave is very good at blocking info, while Safari is just ok.
I’m going to take you guys down a little bit of a rabbit hole, but I have expertise here, having worked on security software for a few years.
The surveillance advertising network is truly profound. You can walk into Lowes, pay cash for, say, a power drill. When you get home, you’ll start getting ads for drill bits or extended warranties. How did the ad networks know you bought a drill with cash?
Lowes has WiFi and Bluetooth trackers, and not really intentionally, but their provider of cash registers or credit card scanners offered them them participation in some ad system and they got some cash for it. Your cell phone doesn’t connect to unknown wifi or bluetooth, but by the simple act of scanning what’s around it, it made its presence known. (It’s why Apple phones change their digital fingerprint every few minutes). Lowes’ cash register then sent this information to a data broker. They don’t know it’s you yet.
You paid cash for some coffee at Starbucks the day before. They also see that a cash transaction happened in the proximity of a device with your device ID. Starbucks sold this info to a data broker. They don’t know it’s you.
You used your credit card to buy some sneakers at Foot Locker. Now they know that your device ID corresponds to an anonymized transaction ID. Foot locker doesn’t know your ID or anything but they sell it to a data broker.
Finally, your credit card company sells a data broker “profiles” of spending.
The data broker has been collecting everything from everywhere that it can get its hands on, and given enough of these “anonymized” bits of information, it eventually identifies you, and the personalized ads can come.
At every level, “privacy” protections are in place, everyone’s following the law, but the law is twisted to benefit these giant data brokers. These are companies like DoubleClick (owned by Google) or Palantir (who does this for the gov’t) or Adform, or even Amazon or Facebook who run internal versions. All your data is for sale, and when someone has enough, they’ve got you figured out.
This is true X. But it doesn’t work if you leave your cell phone at home, or don’t have one. I find ads that can only come about because some part of the internet of things is listening to us in our house. If the wife and I want a private conversation about something important, we go into the garden, sit next to each other on our bench and cover our mouths as we talk, like in the movie Casino.
As proof of this, a month or so ago we had a conversation over diner about ‘if there was one place we’d like to go.’ I said Octoberfest, in Germany, she said Britain, then on to Ireland. Less than a day later. I start getting bombed with E-mails about flight deals, and Kick ass places to stay in both countries. I told her only if she wants to come back alone. I’m sure I would be arrested as some kind of hate criminal.
I was using a cell phone as a simple example. You can’t avoid the surveillance advertising. At some point, you will make a series of actions which unveil your identity, and they’ve got you. It will most likely be your credit card usage over time which exposes you, that’s their strongest signal, but lacking that, they use others. I don’t know if they use facial or voice fingerprinting yet, but I’m sure they can.
My own home is “dumb”. I have no smart devices, and everything which requires the internet is firewalled off so it can’t see any other device, and I run a separate network for untrusted devices (which is most of them).
I assumed you were using cash as I almost always do. But yes, the voyeurism is strong in those who would own it all. I went into Walmart for the first time a few days ago and the facial recognition thing is full bore. A whole set of cameras capture everyone coming or going. I looked up at the bank of screens and there was a red square around my face.
I don’t have any wifi fridges, stoves, Dish washers, locks, or thermostats. So I’m going to figure out how to firewall the computers, tablets, and 20 year old TVs.

My house is “dumb” too, and I intend to keep it that way. Passed on the “free” thermostats the gas company was offering because they had to connect to the internet in order to function. No thanks, I’ll decide what temperature I want to keep the house at. Unfortunately my old tv died and I couldn’t find a non-smart tv to replace it. It can be set up without connecting to the internet but every time you turn it on it starts with the Home Screen asking you to connect it, where I would much prefer to just go to the last channel I was watching. PITA but I can live with it.

I looked at him and asked “Where’s your phone?” He said, “Inside on the counter.” I responded, “Good.” I prefer not to have Wi-Fi invading my every breathing moment or conversation.

It’s especially important if you’re talking about $$$ or other strategic allocation/reallocation of assets. When we have deep conversations about the current thing, I don’t mind letting them know, that we know, and that we plan on telling everyone we know.
As a former computer security professional, I don’t fear talking around devices too much, because it’s generally not the manufacturers of the devices that spy on you. Their goal is to sell lots of devices.
However, if you install Facebook, or Instagram or TikTok or any of these other “social” apps, they’ll listen. In both iOS and Android, you can take away their access to the microphone and they can’t listen on you. That actually works. I don’t use most of those apps, but I do use X, and I’ve disabled its mic access.
It really depends on the device. On my network, I can see where devices are connecting, and the worst, to date, was a Samsung TV which had a camera on it in case you wanted to use video chat on it, and that thing was always sending data to Samsung. I replaced it with a Sony which sends nothing (and doesn’t have a camera).
A little known fact – buy your TV’s at Costco. They usually have slightly different model numbers that are Costco specific. Why? Costco requires suppliers of electronics to build them in such a way that no signups or accounts are required for the device to work. So, my Sony TV from Costco had a way to set it up as a dumb TV, despite being a “Google TV”.

If you’re running Android, you can also isolate Farcebook and its ilk in a “work” profile that can be shut off (“paused,” as they put it) when you don’t want it active. There’s an app called Shelter that makes all of this fairly easy to set up:

I use Brave browser. I refresh the Zerohedge article I’m viewing, usually twice, before the “Show Comments” button will appear. Until I do this it always defaults to “unable to show comments” message you saw.
How I wish we could return to some semblance of capitalism, cuz what we have now is nothing of the sort. It’s a prison of cartels.
I recently re-watched that old documentary “Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices”. It perfectly illustrates how much we’ve lost as a country with the proliferation of these globalist chains. They add nothing of long-term value to our families or communities.
The MomNPops of yesteryear were far from perfect. But there was some decent competition in most towns and cities. The best-run enterprises often became regional successes.

How do you peaceably — yet forcibly — break up these multinationals, and return that wealth back to the people? Every family gets X shares of stock of company Z?

Though I rarely use Safari, last time I did, I had trouble accessing a couple of Wrongthinkful sites. Pivoting to my laptop with a different browser, I loaded the sites with ease.
So many layers of censorship: browsers; ISPs; site hosting companies; Homeland Security; Palantir; Unit 8200; and on and on. In another thread, I posted an essay about how TikTok is about to be content-cleansed of inconvenient facts and photos and videos about Israel’s ongoing criminal genocide in Gaza.
What we’re observing is only the tip of the iceberg. Just like the news about 274 FBI provocateurs at J6, which only emerged this week, vast troves of other important facts remain maliciously hidden from our view.
We are reduced to the status of the legendary six blind persons, convinced that we’re accurately describing an elephant despite only palpating an isolated part of it. At least one thing is clear: don’t vote for candidates from the elephant party. Or the donkey-dong party either!

Over the last month I believe the biometric passports are already here. A family member contacted the IRS a month ago inquiring about her refund. They wanted to verify her identity the two questions asked were:
What is the name of your elementary school?
What country did your maternal grandmother immigrate from?
The family member contacted me freaking out. She asked “How would they know this?” I said if you use a cell phone, social media, or have searched anything through an IP address…they got you.
I realize I am paranoid, but I still believe Facebook, Palantir, and Google or just arms of the CIA/FBI.
I also inquired…did they say you were correct on both answers? She said yes. They also may not have the information, but are inputting it as you are verifying it to them. Just something else to consider.
You are not paranoid. All 3 were funded by venture capital from In-Q-Tel. It’s not a secret, if you’re willing to just read open source material. It’s right on their Wikipedia pages, no one’s even attempting to hide that the CIA and DoD paid these companies to build surveillance and analysis that the government is prohibited from doing directly. So you have to assume the part of the budgets they show above board on paper is a fraction of what they do on black budgets under the cover of national security.
