Trump says he’s doing X, Y and Z to dial back CAFE. But is he, really?

Trump says one thing and does another. Trump may actually be for some reforms but always caves to his handlers. One of Trump’s big problem is Zionist Jews picked his staff. When Trump was bribed with Miriam Adelson’s mega shekels he tacitly agreed to carry out the Jewish agendas.
I gave up on orange hope a long time ago. All hat and no cattle, he is supreme bullshitter.

“When Charles Lindbergh wrote two books exposing the banking powers behind the federal reserve act they didn’t just burn the books… they destroyed the printing plates.”
I often assert that Trump is a Rothschild agent. When the Jewish banksters can print unlimited dollars, who don’t they own. No one dares goes against the Zionist Lobby because that is a front for Rothschild control.

Trump is what he’s always been — an ’80s New York Democrat. That’s how far the “center” has moved. Tip had stupid ideas, yes, but I think he truly intended the best for the country. That’s why they kept attack dogs like Schumer under wraps. They knew he did not.
It’s eye-opening to realize that MAGA is essentially a mainstream ’80’s Democrat.
Eric,
I addressed this in my long comment in your original post on this, I don’t see this happening on a practical level. Why? CAFE is part of the Clean Air Act, which Congress passed in the 1970s; hence, it would literally take an act of Congress to amend or repeal the part of the Clean Air Act that instituted CAFE standards in the first place. How often do you see acts of Congress happen? Rarely, if ever.
The Big Beautiful Bill reduced civil penalty for CAFE noncompliance to zero. That’s billions of dollars the car companies no longer have to pay and pass along to us for not meeting the rules.
The BBB is an act of Congress, a law that would require a future Congress to repeal or amend.
It took decades to build the tangled mess so it’s also not realistic to think it could be unwound in a few months. So isn’t at least a little encouraging that even though CAFE and the Clean Air Act are still laws the compliance to them is now voluntary from a financial standpoint? The EPA is rendered the mall cop giving you a strongly worded warning for running a stop sign and double parking.
Meh. Pissing off California green hairs & Gov. Newsom is the biggest benefit of Trump & Co. having an eco tantrum. As you noticed Eric, it is 535 people down the street that is the real problem. But they have been too busy making turtle awareness proclamations and trolling for K Street cash for the past 80 years. No chance of changing that status quo anytime soon.
No matter what President Trump or GovCo does when it comes to regulations in the end it comes down to whether or not people can afford to buy it.
A lot of people say they can’t even afford a $500 emergency are unlikely to be able to afford a new car also yet fail to take the time to even learn how to check the oil level in their car let alone how to change it.
All I can say is we are living in interesting times with interesting people.
Basically, the 575-page proposed NHTSA rule unveiled in Trump’s White House meeting seeks to reinterpret the long-standing statutory mandate to set CAFE standards at the highest feasible MPG.
By assuming that two-thirds of vehicles would be EeeVees by 2032, ‘Biden’ projected 51 MPG by then. Now, by excluding EeeVees and a rising share of plug-in hybrids, Sean Duffy’s new rule instead projects 34 MPG, assuming that internal combustion vehicles continue to dominate the fleet mix.
Change the assumptions, get different results. But the statutory and regulatory framework remains in place, completely unchanged. All the bureaucratic machinery still functions, in complete readiness for our next Uniparty emperor to mandate new assumptions and different results.
Let’s face up to the facts: Republiclowns DO NOT do radical change. As chickenshit, milquetoast middle-of-the-roaders (except when it comes to Israeli genocide and summarily executing smugglers), they tinker around the margins of the existing orthodoxy. Duffy’s 575-page proposed rule is a case in point. It relies on the NHTSA’s stunningly complex CAFE model — but merely modifies the inputs to get a different output.
Duffy’s rule even cites the salaries of managers, engineers, and line workers in the auto industry, to analyze the effect of the new rule on auto industry employment and vehicle sales, which are projected to decline slightly. None of this is the slightest business of the US fedgov. Nor does any single person actually understand all of the details in this 575-page ukase — it was written by a cast of dozens or hundreds, probably with some assistance from AI.
I actually skimmed this turgid dogshit. It fills me with disgust. In a just world, these useless-eater NHTSA wankers would be put to gainful employment, digging irrigation ditches with their bare hands, as my sneering overseers cock loaded shotguns next to their ears, and occasionally pound their skulls with the gunstock when they falter and whimper.

You have a dirty mind. Great minds think alike.
Funny (not!) how every Fedgov bill runs to hundreds of pages; you know that there are giveaways and such to the lobbyists who turn all the Clowngress critters into millionaires hidden deep within those pages.
What it boils down to is that environmentalists are now bitching about cars spewing plant food.
Let that sink in.
Actually, reclassifying trucks as passenger cars will achieve the exact opposite of what we are hoping for. It will mean that trucks will have to meet passenger car “safety standards” (and all that that entails…) as well making them smaller, and with smaller engines, since they will have to be figured into the “fleet average CAFE standards”; And since they will have to meet car “safety standards”, there goes any hope of being allowed to have vehicles such as the Hi-Lux, which don’t even meet current light truck standards…..
As usual, the Orange Bullshit artist looks you in the eye while saying one thing…and then doing just the opposite.
We’re never going to get out from under all of this tyranny- it just keeps increasing; even when they say they’re “relaxing” it. The only way to stop all of this is to burn it all down- which is why, for any of you who are foolhardy enough to vote, you should vote Democrat- as that will ensure that it burns down a little sooner, and without the pithy platitudes that and lip service which the Republicans use to satiate the masses, which keep them toiling in their chains. The longer it goes on…the longer we have to endure it. Get a Gavin Nuisance or AOL or Mandummy in the White House, and it’;ll all be over in 4 years, and the majority may actually learn to embrace liberty.
Put it out of it’s misery! We can’t go on like this!
Also thinking, do you really think that American auto manufactures WANT the regulations repealed ?
Let’s say today Trump did suddenly get rid of the safety and all milage regs? I personally think that the Japanese (and even some Chinese) would completely wipe the floor with the American and European manufacturers – who have basically spent the past 30+ years building cars for the government, and are used to the protections they were given due to the regulatory restrictions…..I doubt a company like GM with its HR department DEI management could even make a car like the Hilux Champ….
VW and Stellaris (Fiat) are building compliance cars for their home markets and Toyota and Nissan doing the same for the Asia/Middle East/African markets.

What keeps global cars out of the U.S. isn’t really that they can’t meet DOT/EPA rules as much as the DOT/EPA rules are enough different and don’t share in-kind acceptance. An engine that meets EURO specs most likely would meet EPA but a manufacturer would have to do all the testing to prove it. So instead they offer the options they think will sell here and that’s all.
Anyway, we’re bringing the democratic pain to other countries.

There was a 60-day honeymoon period in Trump 2.0 where he dialed some of the government BS back, but that’s now long gone. He’s a P.T. Barnum-like bullshit artist promising things he cannot and will not deliver. His latest announcement is that he expects the income tax to be ABOLISHED soon.

All those that have elevated Trump to cult leader status will exclaim huzza! and will overlook all of the other fuckery that he’s pushing now like Zionism, war with Venezuela, hiding Epstein files, etc.
