There’s a whole lot of kvetching going on over the “deal” Trump and the Iranians have apparently agreed to. Probably because the “deal” is a kind of surrender – a good one – in that it might mean an end to this stupid, evil war Trump started.
Trump has agreed to a return to the pre-war status quo – and then some. The Iranians retain control over the Strait of Hormuz and the United States agrees to stop mucking around in the internal affairs of Iran. The demand the Iranians turn over their nuclear materials – if any – is gone. All of this is good for the Iranians – and for the United States (that is to say, for Americans). It is not so good for Israel and hence the kvetching.

It’s a significant ramp-up in the violence in Lebanon. Four dead Israeli soldiers, including a battalion chief, are front-page news in Israel. Eighteen dead in Lebanon are a high total too.
Like the US, which spent 20 years in Afghanistan and lost 2,459 soldiers, Israel is occupying Lebanon and can expect steady, withering attacks while it does. Lebanon might be a metaphor for the whole misguided zionist project over the past 110 years: sending European settlers into a majority-Arab land was guaranteed to provoke violent resistance — especially since several million Palestinian Arabs have been subjected to brutal Israeli military occupation in the West Bank and Gaza for 59 long years. In human rights terms, this is one of the ugliest situations on earth.
Because AIPAC owns Clowngress, US presidents have little leverage over Israel. They can’t cut off little Shitrahell’s $3.8 billion allowance. All that’s left is gestures such as withholding intelligence cooperation. But Israeli agent Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Tel Aviv) has got that covered, by prohibiting it in the next intelligence authorization.
Apparently, no number of fatal snakebites will induce Jewish settlers and their Americlown enablers to get the hell out of the middle eastern snakepit, where they are unwelcome, undeserving intruders. Only mad dog, Tanakh-thumping religion can explain such fanatical knuckleheadedness. As ol’ Hunter S. Thompson used to say while firing machine-gun rounds into the air, God’s mercy on you swine!

I’ve thought about this for a while now:
As U.S. demographics change; specifically as the number of Jews, evangelicals, and boomers declines, so does support for Israel.
By 2030, Muslims will outnumber Jews as the largest non-Christian group. (I see far more hijabs than yarmulkes on the streets these days.) Also, younger people are less supportive of Israel, and among younger men, they are going to Catholic and Orthodox churches in increasing numbers. (The Catholic and Orthodox churches aren’t really into the whole premillennial dispensationalism thing; and the Catholic Church makes a clear distinction between the modern state of Israel and the biblical concept of Israel as the Church.)
So perhaps we are seeing the beginning of that trend.
