I order cheap stuff by post from India and China all the time. Trump’s order, based on claimed power under IEEPA, is totally illegal and unconstitutional.

Oops. I didn’t read that part. I agree with tariffs on large companies, but the $800 exemption should remain. Many of those orders are filled by individuals. Sigh

Either we have a constitution, or we don’t. Article 1, Section 8 assigns all taxes and duties to Congress — end of story. Trump’s IEEPA fig leaf doesn’t even contain the word ‘tariffs.’
Looking forward to seeing Orange Bejeezus getting the carpet jerked from under him. His tariff ‘deals’ aren’t worth the cocktail napkins they’re scribbled on. Out with it all! No new taxes!
The courts can go fuck themselves. Tariffs are about the only good thing that he has done.
Fuck the courts who kick individuals in the teeth, expanding the police state in this country while giving corporations and government a pass. Libertarians are equally as guilty, supporting corporate supremacy at every turn.
Only 50 years of evidence suggest that free trade has been an abject failure. $1Trillion trade deficits, 140,000 factories closed since 1972 and a 20 percent drop in real wages since then as well. Small towns have been shuttered and the country is falling apart. The only thing that I agree with Trump on is that our trade situation IS a national emergency. So fuck the courts who largely defended the rights of governments to impose mask mandates on the public during a fake pandemic. This emergency is real.
I don’t care what teh stock market has been doing. The average American is worse off than 50 years ago. So, fuck the courts. All of them

What’s the point of having a CONstitution and a “government of laws” if whatever criminal occupying the White House simply gets to say it’s an emergency and do whatever they want. This predates the reign of Orange Doofus and is totally the fault of Clowngress for passing these “emergency” loopholes because they are all to damn lazy to do their freaking jobs.
