Gas Tax Report: 03/17/2026

2242

Well, the news early Tuesday morning is that those “obliterated” Iranians have managed to hit the American Embassy in Baghdad – which is in Iraq, mind – and no other countries are coming to Trump’s aid to help him open the Strait of Hormuz.

Interestingly the news about the embassy strike only appeared today – not Saturday, when the attack occurred. The extent of the suppression of bad news is astounding. It is very difficult to find real news about what is actually happening until it becomes impossible to suppress it.

One thing’s for sure, the price of a barrel of oil continues to go up. As of this morning (Tuesday the 17th) it is about $102 and – in congruence – the average national cost of a gallon of gas is up about 60 cents. The increase in the cost of the latter is not directly tied to the cost of the former as some of the rise in the cost of gas is anticipatory as well as speculative. But the inexorably inevitable thing is eventual congruence. Trump can bellow bullshit about “obliterating” the Iranians and that the war is essentially over and that can serve to calm the markets for a moment – until it becomes obvious Trump is full of shit. Excuse the language but sometimes there is no other language.

The Iranians have clearly not been “obliterated” – though they are doing a fine job of doing just that not only to Our Greatest Ally but also to us, in that if this war goes on it could obliterate the economy, which will obliterate Trump politically as well as MAGA as a viable political force. It will be something like what the Republican Party was after the Wall Street crash back in 1929, i.e., a party flushed out of power for a generation.

Intelligent people understand that the alternative to the Democrat Party – which is in fact a Communist Party hitting puberty – is a worse alternative. It does not mean it won’t be the inevitable alternative. What will the GOP run on this summer and fall?

That victory is in sight?

Ask Winsome Sears how it’s playing in Virginia – and that was before this war.

Trump is becoming worse than Biden right before our eyes. The demented, angry and incoherent utterances. The coterie of sycophantic praetorians surrounding him. Only it’s worse than Biden because at least the old kid sniffer didn’t start a major war, one that all indicators suggest is already spiraling out of control due to some combination of arrogant incompetence and wishful-delusional thinking, salted with a glib indifference to the consequences.

The pages of history are instructive – if anyone (especially Trump) would read them. There was a guy named Crassus who thought money could buy anything – including victory. He died in a most unpleasant way at the Battle of Carrhae in 53 BC after his legions were humiliated by the Parthians. The latter are said to have poured molten gold down his throat to make a point about his greed.

Then there is the more recent example of The Greatest Field Commander of All Time – the man with the Charlie Chaplin moustache. He also claimed to have “obliterated” the country he attacked, which was Soviet Russia. The problem was the Soviets refused to stay “obliterated.”

It is never a good idea to say the Mission is Accomplished – to cite an even more recent example – when it obviously isn’t. Does Trump recall what the consequences were of that? Does he care? Probably not as it is easy to believe he cares about nothing save his own image and will do and say anything in its defense – even when it is ultimately self-destructive. A reader sent me the following that I think says it all:

He is surrounded by Scofield dispensationalists and straight zionists.
He has no in depth knowledge of any subject, instead relying on gut feeling.
Ego is as frail as a 90 year old woman’s bones.
He superficially bonds with those who praise him.
Because of all that, he is incredibly easy to influence so long as your argument is below an 8th grade level.

He envisions himself as the idea guy.
Everyone else’s job is to make it work.
Upon success, he prides himself on his great vision and leadership.
Upon failure, the worthless drones have failed him.

He has no real idea of why he attacked Iran or how it’s going.
He likes it that way and so do those who are trying to expand the jewish ethnostate.

He is oddly on the pulse of Joe America but is quickly moved to new positions.
The US is led by a narcissistic schizophrenic with ADHD.

So concludes this day’s report. God help us, all.

  1. Trump accuses Obama of giving money to Iran (he was ranting about it yesterday 3/17) — planeloads of cash. Turns out US had kept $400 million of Iranian money since 1979. Obama returned it with interest in 2015, $1.7 billion. [Apparently has been ranting on it since 2016]

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/08/05/trump-accuses-obama-of-lying-says-400-million-to-iran-was-ransom-payment/

ONE DAY OF TRUMP’S IDIOT BOMBING THAT IS ALMOST GUARANTEED TO GET IRAN A NUCLEAR BOMB COSTS THAT MUCH! TRUMP HAS DESTROYED U.S. AS A SUPER POWER, DESTROYED OUR DEFENSE AND MISSILE STOCKPILES, AND BURNED THROUGH $60 BILLION IN THREE WEEKS!

Meanwhile, this is what U.S. has done to Iran since 1979: WIKI “Iranian Frozen Assets. Iranian frozen assets in international accounts are calculated to be worth between $100 billion[1][2] and $120 billion.[3][4][5] Almost $2 billion of Iran’s assets are frozen in the United States.[6] According to the Congressional Research Service, in addition to the money locked up in foreign bank accounts, Iran’s frozen assets include real estate and other property. The estimated value of Iran’s real estate in the U.S. and their accumulated rent is $50 million.[1] Besides the assets frozen in the U.S., some parts of Iran’s assets are frozen around the world by the United Nations.[1] As of January 2021, Iran had frozen assets in the following countries: $7 billion in South Korea; $6 billion in Iraq; $20 billion in China; $1.5 billion in Japan; $1.6 billion in Luxembourg.[7] ”

I just realized yesterday that Cuba is our Gaza! We always had Guantanamo Naval Base there so never understood why we acted like there was some threat. (Turns out the rent is very low but Cuba has never accepted it (maybe because so low it’s an insult) since they want the base gone.) Anyhow, just like Trump allowed Netanyahu to put a complete siege on Gaza for 80 days (starting March 2, 2025) and directed Bessent to crash Iran’s currency, he’s done the same for Cuba (apparently they got ocean front property for Casinos and drug & prostitution biz; and US has $6 bn in claims since 1959 revolution–guess Trump and the Meyer Lansky gang he works for want their money!): “The U.S. government significantly tightened its economic sanctions against Cuba in January 2025, orienting around a “total pressure” or “maximum pressure” strategy.[74][75] In addition to re-designating the island as a state sponsor of terrorism for a third time, the State Department announced further sanctions against Cuban military contractors and further restricted Cuba’s access to the U.S. dollar.[76] U.S. Homeland Security and Coast Guard soon thereafter restricted immigration of economic refugees from Cuba, along with Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.[77] The U.S. re-activated Title III of the Helms–Burton Act, an international deterrent against foreign investment in Cuba.[78][79] The U.S. government halted foreign aid funding, expanded visa restrictions, and formally cautioned against Cuban forced labor in February.[80][81] President Trump issued a presidential directive in July for greater enforcement of the Cuban travel ban, further isolating the tourism industry of Cuba.[82] The U.S. government banned First Secretary Díaz-Canel along with two ministers from entering the U.S., later restricting access to the Cuban luxury real estate sector.[83]

In late January 2026, the United States expanded its “maximum pressure” policy toward Cuba by introducing an extraterritorial tariff mechanism aimed at halting the supply of crude oil and refined petroleum products to the island. On 29 January 2026, Executive Order 14380 was signed and entered into force on 30 January, declaring a national emergency and authorizing the imposition of additional tariffs on imports into the United States from countries that directly or indirectly supply oil to Cuba.[84] In practice, the threat of tariffs, combined with measures intended to disrupt logistical channels, led to the suspension of Mexican oil deliveries after the President of Mexico announced a halt to ongoing shipments, contributing to a sharp decline in fuel availability and to a severe energy and humanitarian crisis in Cuba.[85] The consequences included widespread electricity outages and significant disruptions to essential public and social services.[86] The United Nations, through its special procedures and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, publicly criticized the U.S. order and warned of its humanitarian implications, characterizing the measures as a form of extraterritorial economic coercion and a “fuel blockade” with the potential to affect hospitals, water supply systems, and food security.[87]

Trump says he’s getting ready to invade so who knows what dirty Meyer Lansky mob tricks he’s doing–but the Epstein Pedophile Puppet is busy: 3.17.26 “HAVANA (AP) — Officials in Cuba reported an islandwide blackout Monday in the country of some 11 million people as its energy and economic crises deepen and its power grid continues to crumble.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines on X noted a “complete disconnection” of the country’s electrical system and said it was investigating, noting there were no failures in the units that were operating when the grid collapsed.

Lázaro Guerra, the ministry’s electricity director, told state media late Monday that crews were trying to restart several thermoelectric plants, which are key to restoring power.

“It must be done gradually to avoid setbacks,” he said. “Because systems, when very weak, are more susceptible to failure.”

  2. A Substack blogger pays the price of taking a conscientious stand:

‘IMO the Iranian School Girl Massacre is going to “live in infamy.” I also compare the American “sneak attack” on Iran to Japan’s sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. I don’t think many readers at my contrarian Substack newsletter agree with either opinion. I am losing record numbers of subscribers since I came out as a harsh critic of this war. So be it, though.’

This comment appears on the Moon of Alabama blog today.

    • Hi Jim,

I expect similar; I hope I am wrong – but I have had a few people send me emails (as well as posts here) taking issue with my taking issue with the war, criticizing Trump and even for “anti-Semitism.” Oy vey. It only eggs me on. I feel like it’s “COVID” all over again – and all too many people are donning the proverbial Diaper again. Only this time, it’s not the one on their faces. It’s the one covering their minds.

  3. This is who Netanyahu/Israel are bragging they bombed to death last night:

Larijani is a graduate of Qom seminary.[30] He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mathematics from Aryamehr University of Technology and holds a master’s degree and PhD in Western philosophy from the University of Tehran.[26] Initially, he wanted to continue his graduate studies in computer science, but changed his subject after consultation with Morteza Motahhari. Larijani has published books on Immanuel Kant, Saul Kripke, and David Lewis. Larijani is a faculty member of the School of Literature and Humanities at the University of Tehran.

    • Israel has also murdered the “Commander of the northern Gaza Strip brigade of Hamas’ naval force” (!) who knew hamas had a naval force (‘member when Hamas attacked Israel w/hang gliders on 10/7 and Israel 2x drone bombed and captured Greta Thunberg’s aid flotilla in June and September 2025)?

15:37 YNET. IDF eliminates Hamas naval force commander of northern Gaza Strip brigade
The IDF and Shin Bet eliminated Younis Mohamad Hussein Alyan yesterday, commander of the northern Gaza Strip brigade of Hamas’ naval force. According to the IDF spokesperson, Alyan was responsible for operating the brigade’s naval forces and advancing its force-building processes, and commanded the training and instruction of terrorists and management of combat equipment readiness. It was further reported that Alyan worked to restore the brigade’s capabilities and planned to carry out terror attacks against IDF forces operating in the Strip and in Israel.

      • Iran confirmed that he was killed along with his son and whoever was 2nd to Larajani on the Security Council (?). Larajani’s daughter is a doctor who was employed at Emory U until Israel-US attack when she was fired as a security concern (sure some Zio got her fired: only Jews can be doctors. Only jews can control us universities, banks, businesses and gov’t.)

Hindustan Times is reporting Israel may have murdered him to extend the war — kill Trump’s off ramp:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoqIhM0ieYM

There was a v. interesting article in the Jerusalem Post. It said that Trump’s sending 5,000 marines to capture Strait of Hormuz (nuttiest thing ever) WOULD EXTEND THE WAR BY TWO MONTHS: “Trump’s operation in Strait of Hormuz could extend war with Iran by months, sources tell ‘Post’ Issues in the Strait of Hormuz “could extend the war by as much as two months,” one source familiar with the discussions said. Updated: MARCH 18, 2026 06:49

A number of sources told The Jerusalem Post that if President Donald Trump decides to launch a military operation to take control of the Strait of Hormuz – an operation intended to ensure freedom of navigation – it could significantly prolong the war “by weeks, if not months.” “This could extend the war by as much as two months,” one source familiar with the discussions said.”

US and Israel attacked Iran’s gas fields today: YNET 08:08 Strike on gas facilities in southern Iran – coordinated with US The Israeli strike against gas facilities in southern Iran was carried out in coordination with the United States.

YNET 08:48 Iran on gas facility strike: ‘U.S. and Israeli energy infrastructure are legitimate targets’
The governor of Asaluyeh in southern Iran, where gas facilities were attacked, claimed that “the situation is under control and the fire departments of South Pars and the Pars Special Economic Zone are controlling the fire. No casualties were reported.” Meanwhile, Iran’s Fars news agency published a message: “Iran has previously warned that in the event of an attack on energy facilities, all energy infrastructure serving the United States and Israel in the region will be legitimate targets of Iran.” (Lior Ben Ari)

9:03 Iran ‘warns’ oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar: ‘Will be hit soon’
Iranian state broadcaster issued an ‘urgent warning’ to oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. In an appeal to citizens and residents in the vicinity of the following facilities — the Samref refinery in Saudi Arabia, the Al Hosn gas field in the UAE, the Al-Jubail petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia, the Mesaieed petrochemical complex in Qatar — it stated: ‘These facilities have become direct and legitimate targets and will be hit in the coming hours. All citizens, residents and workers are requested to immediately leave these areas and move to a safe distance without any delay.’

NOTA BENE: YNET 09:20 After IDF STRIKE ON IRANIAN GAS FACILITIES Oil price surges to $108 per barrel Oil prices continue to fluctuate following the war in the Middle East, particularly after the Israeli strike on gas facilities in southern Iran. Brent crude jumped 5% to $108 per barrel, and WTI crude rose 2% to $98 per barrel. (ynet)\

  4. Joe Kent’s resignation letter from his position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center is worth a read if you have time.

“cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war”

“Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby”

      • Will it fall on Trump’s deaf ears. Probably so. Narcissists are usually unable to correct course, because it requires them to admit making a mistake in the first place. When you always have to be right, it’s tough to admit you were wrong.

      • House Speaker Mike’s Johnson — a hard-core zionist who invited Netanyahu to address a joint session of Clowngress last year — weighs in:

“I’m on the Gang of Eight. I got all the briefings. We all understood there was clearly an imminent threat,” Johnson said during a press conference, referring to the classified briefings that top Congressional leaders receive. “I don’t know where Joe Kent is getting his information, but he wasn’t in those briefings, clearly.”

Johnson invokes secrecy to protect the nation he works for, Israel. You won’t find the Gang of Eight in the constitution or any statute law. It’s an illegal power grab.

Johnson is certain to lose his job this coming November. But it’s possible that he’ll lose it even sooner, as R-party members drop out. His 15 minutes of infamy are over.

  5. I’d gladly pay more dollars for gas if we would just stop murdering each other.

Killing those young Iranian girls in school was Stalinistic. A public hanging should await them. I guarantee you,,, the targeters knew. That they were simply following orders doesn’t get it. The USA are no longer the “Good Guy’s” Stop the stupid attacks, Damn it!, Admit our errors. If we stop the killing maybe the Iranians will stop as well. It’s worth a try. At least TALK!

    • Now we have the first resignation of conscience from the Trump regime:

‘The director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, has announced his resignation, saying he “cannot in good conscience” back the Trump administration’s war in Iran.

‘Kent said on social media that Iran “posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

      https://apnews.com/live/iran-war-israel-trump-03-17-2026

The Trump administration is self-decapitating, as it were. Why roll the dice on getting charged with war crimes?

      • It’s good to see a few people in Trumpenstein’s administration even have a conscience. Unfortunately the few who do resign in protest, like Joe Kent, will be replaced by someone who will be a loyal sycophantic for the Orange Douchebag.

        • It’s getting to be a badge of honor for a politician to receive Trump’s verbal diarrhea tirades. The list of them who seem to have some minor functional cerebral cortex and a glimmer of conscience is growing.

          • I agree, Budda –

I hope the Kent resignation is the beginning of the end; i.e., I hope more people listen to their conscience and repudiate this stupid, evil war.

            • Anyone who quits will be smeared as an “anti-Semite”, which is already happening to Kent. A local talk host, Pete Kaliner-WBT Charlotte, read his resignation tweet. But, when he got to the part where Kent referenced Israel Kaliner, in a childish voice, said “the jeeeeewwwws”. He has, in other contexts, mocked anyone that thinks AIPAC or other Jewish/Israeli interests have influence over Congress.

              Start listening ~18 min. in:
              https://wbt.com/1642831/cuba-crumbling-and-is-an-accused-us-intel-leaker-quits-03-17-2026-hour2/

It’s only going to get worse before it gets better.

              • What is called “antisemitism” as applicable to jews who claim to be semitic is actually the body’s (USA) response to a foreign substance (jews as invaders), not unlike the human body’s defense mechanism against disease.
Antisemitism is a healthy response to what is going on in the western world. Eventually, the body will win over the invader, given a strong enough antisemitism response.
Judaism is the disease (cancer or parasite) that must be flushed from the worldwide body politic.
                There is no other way…

    • I’d agree with that. I think it’s quite likely that the CIA knowingly added it to the priority target list specifically as a deep state maneuver against Trump, one which had some kind of plausible deniability, in that it used to be a part of the base.

Then again, American intelligence has been “gobsmacked” by pretty much everything. They had absolutely no idea the USSR was on the verge of collapse. 9/11 was a complete surprise. They called in hits on Saddam Hussein, only to have every single one turn out to be wrong, and resulted in only civilian deaths. They called in Hellfire missiles on weddings and funerals, humiliating both the Chimp and Obongo. They sent innocents to Guantanamo because they “failed” to understand how much Afghani tribes lie about each other.

They must have had some successes somewhere, but those never make news. If only the CIA had some kind of propaganda wing that it could use to tout its wins.

      • Zio-Steve giving us more lines of bullshit to distract from the Zionist tactic of killing Christian and Muslim children.

“American intelligence has been “gobsmacked” by pretty much everything.” -Zio-Steve This is the old “they’re not evil, just incompetent” apology.

Funny, I recall a post from you a couple days after those school girls were killed. You stated with incredulity that you’d wait to comment on it because you expected the truth would emerge that it really didn’t happen.

        • Pick which you like.

“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” -Hanlon Razor

“Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.” – Grey’s Law

  6. I was talking to some 20-something and 30-somethings at work yesterday. They’re all of the opinion that Trump should be impeached over this war. All voted for him in the 2024 election. It reinforces the idea that Charlie Kirk was murdered by the Israelis for his anti-zionnazi influence over young people.

  7. A decapitation strike on Virginia, Colorado, California, or Minnesota would have been justified, popular, and actually good for the country.

Nothing can be trusted but allegedly Iran sank a Arleigh Burke destroyer, an “invincible” Star Wars ship. Supposedly the Lincoln was hit and put out of commission by a drone. Supposedly Russia airlifted in a S400 system, almost 400 anti air missiles, and a bunch of hypersonic ballistic missiles.

Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan.

Just be prepared, the commies are slavering to take everything.

    • Yes let’s add on the evil by striking Americans who live in certain states regardless whether they support their state government or not. Do you ever even listen to yourself??? Between the bootlicking, the pro-Zionist warmongering, and the Orange Douchebag ass kissing you still manage to outdo yourself in the repugnance of your posts.

Even if the Iran regime were as evil as the Zionist lackeys in the Orange Douchebag administration claim, strikes on ordinary Iranians are still reprehensible and constitute war crimes. Millions in “blue” states realize that they really don’t have a say in the (s)election of their state leaders and are just trying to get by, as are many Iranians. GOVERNMENTS tend to vile not matter the country/state.

      • “Ernie: “A decapitation strike on Virginia, Colorado, California, or Minnesota would have been justified, popular, and actually good for the country.”

MQ: “Yes let’s add on the evil by striking Americans who live in certain states regardless whether they support their state government or not.”

Are you quite certain you know what a decapitation strike is?

        • Nah, Steve, Sweetie just thinks she dont like me and sees red which makes it too hard to read. She seems to lack a sense of humor, and irony.

I’m really not trying to bait her, she just baits herself. I’m more of an apprentice baiter, probably will never make master.

  8. The embassy was attacked again early TUESDAY morning (today 17 MAR). Massive blast reported in Baghdad, sources tell Reuters: ‘Drones attacked US Embassy’ BAGHDAD, March 17 (Reuters) – Rockets and at least five drones were launched at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad ‌EARLY ON TUESDAY from areas around the city, Iraqi security sources said, describing the attack as the most intense since the start of the U.S.-Israel war with Iran.

Israel bombed to death Iranian Leader (Drudge is headlining but Indian press questioning). 07:23. IDF officially announces Larijani eliminated: ‘Solidified his position as leader after Khamenei’s elimination’ The IDF issued an official statement on the elimination of senior Iranian regime official Ali Larijani: “Last night, the Air Force eliminated Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council who served as the de facto leader of the Iranian terror regime, while he was near the capital city Tehran. Following Khamenei’s elimination, Larijani solidified his position as the de facto leader of the Iranian terror regime and led the fight against the State of Israel and countries in the region.”

Israel is reporting heavy damage today. 07:24 Heavy damage at 3 impact sites, Holon Junction train station temporarily closed | Documentation. Heavy damage was caused at 3 impact sites in Holon. One of the sites, Holon Junction train station, was temporarily closed due to the damage caused by the barrage from Iran.

08:53. Extremist settlers attack forces during outpost evacuation: Soldier injured by rock, tires slashed. A soldier was lightly injured by stones thrown by extremist settlers at an engineering bulldozer he was driving, while setting up roadblocks after the evacuation of structures built illegally near the Oqafim Junction near Hebron. During the evacuation, tires of Civil Administration vehicles whose personnel took part in evacuating the structures were also slashed. The rioters threw two large rocks at the forces. One of them directly hit the bulldozer, shattered its windshield and lightly injured the soldier sitting in the driver’s cabin. He was treated on site. Security forces detained (NOT ARRESTED/sure Palestinians would have been killed for much less) five Israeli civilians at the scene who were transferred for further police handling. ‘The IDF views violence against its soldiers and commanders with severity and condemns it in the strongest terms,’ the military said.

  9. Reminder: the Spanbergering —

‘Ten gun control bills are currently on the desk of Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, a Democrat, waiting for her approval. Ms. Spanberger is expected to sign each piece of legislation, which will collectively begin transforming Virginia into having some of the nation’s most stringent restrictions on guns.

‘Ms. Spanberger has 30 days from the end of the General Assembly session, which happened Saturday, to sign or veto any bills that reach her desk. She has until April 13 to act either way, and any bill on which she doesn’t act becomes law by default.’

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/mar/16/ten-gun-control-bills-waiting-virginia-gov-abigail-spanbergers/

Several years ago, a friend in Commiefornia invited me to the gun range with him. While we were target shooting, he revealed that he and his wife were moving to Virginia to escape Commiefornia’s anti-gunner mentality.

Oof! From frying pan to fire. Who would’ve thought Virginia would morph into an east coast Commiefornia? The horror, the horror …

    • I have been watching, Jim. Give Span-Berger to the rest of the year, at most: This evil woman will have effectively eliminated the Second Amendment in that state for everyone. Except themselves and the street criminals. I read another article (not sure if true or not), that she was exempting the politicians from said laws. And some ten in the pipeline? Is any of this true/ false, Eric?? Good grief, if so, Virginia turned into California (or Colorado) in a hurry.

      • Morning, Shadow –

Yes. I predict – it is not hard to predict – that the next step will be bans on carrying, either open or concealed. CC permits will be rescinded or become effectively impossible for most ordinaries to get. There will be an outright ban on the possession of “assault” weapons and so on. Millions of Virginians will become Instant Felons. Our choice will be to accept being gelded, resist – or leave for somewhere else.

        • Unfortunately there are fewer states where one can run. Colorado is toast. Montana and Texas are trying to fight back against the Communist onslaught. Here in Alaska our Demon Rat controlled legislature has several gun control bills in que. None have gained traction….yet. I think at some point gun owners will have to stand their ground and tell these demons to go to hell. Give them a map and directions so they do not get lost. For these people refuse to leave us alone. How serious gun owners are about pushing back will be revealed. And sooner rather than later.

        • Eric, bear in mind the way socialists and globalists define “assault” weapons no doubt will include things like Yugoslavian built SKSs and eventually come to include such relics like British Army “Brown Bess” muskets as they were carried by soldiers assaulting a position. Whether they succeed in criminalizing the possession of pre-1899 firearms is another matter but no doubt they will spend your tax dollars in court trying.

          • A Mag flashlight has served me well in tight situations. Will that be labeled as an “Assault Weapon”, as well? At this rate, probably yes.

        • The left will advance the most radical anti-2A bills, a portion will get rejected or challenged in court. The red side will count this as a victory for gun rights, while the left will make small gains towards their ultimate goal of total disarmament. The left plays the long game, while the right is reactionary and short-sighted.

It is not up to politicians to save us. We each have to decide what is worth fighting for, ourselves.

  10. ‘Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer on Monday announced all Democrats will oppose the SAVE Act when it comes to the floor Tuesday.

“Not a single Democrat will support the SAVE Act. It is a radical bill. And if Republicans try to burn time on this legislation here on the floor, we will oppose them for as long as it takes,” he declared.’

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5786819-save-america-act-absentee-voting/

Schumer’s party needs vote fraud. That’s how they ‘elected’ ‘Joe Biden’ in 2020, with ten million fraudulent ballots.

The R-party wants to stop vote fraud. But the ham-handed way they’re doing it, using the blunt force of the US fedgov for compulsion, is a disaster.

Years ago, many of us showed a birth certificate as a form of ID to obtain a drivers license. But most drivers licenses are not coded to indicate citizenship.

Forcing every voter to reconfirm their citizenship with a *certified* birth certificate (that old copy in your file cabinet won’t suffice) is a huge paper chase that will take two decades, just as REAL-ID (which also does not encode citizenship) did.

It’s even worse for married women. If their married name does not match their certified birth certificate, then they need certified marriage documents too.

While all of us support the objective of eliminating vote fraud, the SAVE Act is a train wreck. It is REAL-ID all over again. It is a Trojan horse for another fedgov power grab … and for turning the midterm election into farcical chaos.

    • Does the R party want to stop vote fraud? The vote fraud done by gerrymandering is far worse than will ever be done by vote fraud.

AI: Based on analysis of the 2024 and projected 2026 U.S. House elections, approximately
85% to 90% of congressional districts are considered uncompetitive (or “safe” for one party), a phenomenon driven by a combination of partisan gerrymandering and geographic sorting.
      Competitiveness Statistics (2024-2026)

Uncompetitive Seats: Only about 10% to 15% of the 435 seats in the U.S. House are considered competitive, meaning the outcome in 85–90% of districts is largely predetermined.
2024 Election: An estimated 85% of House seats were uncompetitive in 2024.
2026 Projections: FairVote projects that 81% of the 435 House seats will be “safe” for one party in 2026, with only 8% considered true “toss-up” races.
Primary Dominance: Because so few districts are competitive in the general election, more than 90% of House races are decided during primary elections, which typically have lower voter turnout.

      Impact of Gerrymandering

Redistricting Control: In the current cycle, districts under single-party control were significantly less competitive than those drawn by independent commissions.
Republican Advantage: Following 2020 redistricting, in states where Republicans held control over map-drawing, only 4% of districts featured close races (decided by 5 or fewer percentage points) in 2024.
2026 Outlook: Continued mid-decade redistricting efforts (e.g., in Texas and North Carolina) are expected to further solidify safe seats for Republicans, while similar actions by Democrats in other states are aimed at increasing competitive, favorable districts.
      _______________
You can check out the 33 senate races for yourself (but most are uncompetitive as well–red or blue state):

“Voter turnout in the United States is much lower than in other countries, hovering around 60% in presidential elections and 40% in midterm election years.”

“voter fraud” is just another “divisive non-“) issue R-party uses to keep it’s base angry and voting. They don’t want the Save Act to pass (which is why Trump is trying so hard to make it a BIG issue) so they can campaign exclusively on this NON issue!

  11. Florida cop arrested for using police database and license plate scanners to stalk and pull over women he was hot for:

    https://www.police1.com/arrests-sentencing/fla-deputy-arrested-after-allegedly-tracking-woman-he-met-on-movie-set-pulling-her-over-after-pursuit

“He even added her car’s information into a “hotlist” system that would alert him whenever she drove past an electronic license plate reader…

…The woman told investigators that when she rolled down the window, Roman said, “I told you I’d find you and pull you over,” according to the report.

He also told her, “I was hoping your boyfriend was in the car so I can pull him out and give him a hard time”

    • If the liberty-minded had resources, this example would be used to ban databases and plate scanners. The so-called feminists should be in an uproar over this, but alas they are not.

It was just one bad apple of course. /cynical sarc

    • Just another example of an Armed Government Worker acting like he can get away with anything, including murder or, in this case, stalking.

‘CHART OF THE DAY: US retail average diesel prices have topped the $5-per-gallon barrier for the 2nd time ever.

‘That’s freight inflation — and another big hit to the country’s farming economy (it has received many hits since Trump came into office)’

    https://x.com/JavierBlas/status/2033819585242157552

Diesel over $5.00 is a direct attack on farmers. It’s a direct attack on prices at the supermarket. It will hike the price of all ‘stuff’ we buy.

Trump is the enemy of the people.

      • Hi Adi:

I sift all my wood stove’s ashes to use in my vegetable garden as the Haber process looks a little complicated for home use 🙂 . I’ve learned that squirrels like corn and potatoes while the rabbits have ignored the carrots and lettuce.

  13. I’m aways amazed by how the Office of the President is either nothing more than a figurehead position, where the real agenda and power is within the cabinet and bureaucracy and the President is working constantly and micromanaging like Steve Jobs complaining about the color of the charging LEDs on the MagSafe connector.

Well, which is it? Is Trump playing 4D chess or is he demanding a non-existent “The Gorilla Channel?” Does anyone even care anymore?

  14. Anyone still supporting Orange Julius Caesar is certifiably delusional. Maybe I should be kinder here but, Trump’s Chumps has a certain ring to it.

  15. ‘Trump is becoming worse than Biden right before our eyes.’ — eric

Biden, hell — maybe worse than LB-frickin’-J:

[on Cuba]: “They have no money, they have no oil, they have no nothin.’ They have nice land, they have nice landscape. It’s a beautiful island.

“You know, all my life I’ve been hearing about the United States and Cuba — when will the United States do it? I do believe I’ll be having the honor of taking Cuba.” — AP News

So ‘we’ are replaying the Spanish-American War — an early, ugly outbreak of yankee a-hole imperialism — in the 21st century.

Version 1.0 in 1898 brought Puerto Rico and Cuba into the US orbit. How did that work out for us? We got Bad Bunny, at the cost of countless billions in welfare and tax breaks for PR. And a successful communist revolution in Cuba, decades ago, not to mention a Soviet missile crisis in 1962. Us so smart!

Trump thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt. But unlike the real TR, Trump is a soft-bellied urban fop who plays a tough guy on TeeVee. He disgusts me.

Maybe it’s fitting that the US is governed by the sorry likes of ‘Trump’ as it approaches its 250th birthday, mired in another useless Asian war for little Shitrahell, its de facto ruler. The American century is definitively over. Blithering idiot Trumpstein is symbolic proof that the US is senescent, decadent, degenerate — on the fast lane to history’s scrap heap.

We coulda been a contendah … if we’d shunned imperialism starting in 1898. TR opened the gates of Janus, signaling war. Trump intends never to close them.

    Trump is our misfortune.

  16. Eric wrote: “Trump is becoming worse than Biden right before our eyes. The demented, angry and incoherent utterances.”

Trump ruined whatever legacy he might have had with the most stupid thing he could do – start the biggest war (other than Ukraine/Russia) since the Korean War. It was to be over by the stock market open on Monday. It is now into day 18, with no sign of ending in sight.

It’s going to be a mid-term wipeout. Vance’s and Rubio’s political careers are probably finished. Trump will be fending off serial impeachments. And this Trump voter won’t care because he and the R party betrayed me on the most basic level – starting a stupid and unwinnable war that has killed Americans (and thousands of other numerous innocents across the ME). AFAIC, Trump is a murderer. He admitted as much when he said he might do more attacks “just for fun”.

    • ‘Vance’s and Rubio’s political careers are probably finished.’ — Howard

Nearing eighty, the war criminal Trump is in visibly poor health. Many suspect he won’t complete his term.

But it’s a different story for two of his key lieutenants, Hegseth and Rubio. Both have enough years left to see the worm turn, and potentially face prosecution at a Nuremberg 2.0 tribunal which, under the principles articulated at Nuremberg 1.0, certainly would hang them both.

Vance’s best hope for dodging the noose is that Orange BLOTUS somehow clings to power, despite his obvious, fulminating mental illness. Vance could, of course, simply resign. But as the late war criminal Henry Kissinger crowed, as he humped young boys at the Carlyle Hotel, “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.”

  17. Growing up buying a Corvette was an aspirational purchase. Today it’s filling your gas tank and buying a prime rib roast. The Greatest Field Commander of All Time at least produced and stockpiled most of the weapons and equipment needed to fight a war with. Our forces on the other hand probably get the MIC equivalent of Amazons infamous “Currently not available. We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock” notice. Sucks when you need socks but really sucks when you need air defense missiles.

I know that Iran’s leaders have chanted “Death to America” for almost 50 years but sadly it turns out so did ours (based on the effects of their plans and policies).

  18. It’s 3:30 am ET and I’ve got to run to the gas station to fill up before gas prices go any higher. They’re rising by several pennies per day, with the nationwide average up $1.07/gallon since January, according to GasBuddy. What’s even more galling are all these authoritarians in the media telling us, “It’s just short-term pain — a worthwhile sacrifice for Israel’s safety.” Of course, we all know that “short-term” in political-speak means FOREVER. Thanks for nothing, Trump!
