It’s (another) interesting incongruence of our time that a president who dodged the draft when he was young enough to “serve” is able to posture as a great warlord and be regarded as such by many of his followers. Say what you will about the Austrian gefreiter. He was an unusually brave frontsoldat who risked his own skin in the trenches of the Great War. He wasn’t a poltroon. Or a hypocrite. Nor did he steal valor, as the man who seems to think of himself as a great warlord just did.
The Greatest Warlord of All Time just posted an AI-generated image of himself in the uniform he never wore, wearing medals he never earned and rank he never achieved. The Austrian gefreiter never did that. He wore the medals he’d earned, nothing more – but nothing less. Now behold the president who never earned even a perfect attendance medal.
He pictures himself as a four-star general, with more medals on his breast than Douglas MacArthur and George S. Patton, who actually were generals of real rank but who are depicted as seconds to the Greatest Warlord Of All Time.
If Barry Obama had depicted himself similarly, the shrieks of the Fox News Chorus would have shattered glass all the way to Patagonia. Barry could never have gotten away with it. Of course, Barry would never have done it in the first place. Say what you will about Barry, he didn’t pretend to be a military man and that is a chit to his credit. Barry also didn’t start a catastrophically stupid, evil war. This is not so much praise for Barry as it is a condemnation of Trump – and his remaining followers. 
It is remarkable, isn’t it, that the “patriots” of MAGA do not condemn Trump? Not necessarily over this catastrophically stupid, evil war. It is comprehensible that a Fox News “conservative” might support it.
Supporting war – all wars – is congruent with “conservatism.”
It is incomprehensible that anyone who claims to respect the military and those who actually have “served” could abide Trump’s depiction of himself as the Greatest Warlord of All Time. It transcends embarrassing (given the fact that Trump has lost the catastrophically stupid, evil war he started). It is a mockery of everyone who actually did “serve” – and who is “serving” right now, including the service members who’ve been killed in this catastrophically stupid, evil war. What do you suppose the parents, spouses and children of those killed in this catastrophically stupid, evil war think about the image of Trump as a four star general?
It is also a mockery of two of America’s greatest generals, who actually fought and won wars. Both Patton and MacArthur led troops at the front. They were personally brave men. That Trump could even – in his own mind – imagine himself as being in the same class with such men is bad enough. The fact that he had an image created depicting himself as that and then loosed it on the world via his social media account calls into question the man’s sanity. It is far worse than the Austrian gefreiter screeching that the coming wunderwaffe would win the war that was already lost. 
Is it not ironic that this man got re-elected, in part, by pointing out that men who believe they are women are delusional, which is another way of saying they are mentally ill? What does it say about a draft-dodger who seems to believe he not only “served” but achieved the highest ranks and awards bestowed upon those who “served”?
What does it say about those who have “served” who let it slide?

I’m Trump’s age. Army ’64-’67. 22 months overseas, Germany and Vietnam. I can do nothing but shake my head over this nonsense of his, and wonder if Trump’s day of reckoning for the financed and direct slaughter of so many from the Caribbean to Gaza, Iran and Ukraine will come, as he demands entrance at the Pearly Gates. That is his real sin, compared to his childish AI dress-up.

Well, sort of. The Keeeeeeeeevvv thing is bad, certainly. But it’s far less worse than this Israel Uber Alles thing. I don’t think any Americans have died in Keeeeeeeeeeeeeev, except perhaps mercenaries. So far, at least 18 Americans have died for Israel. Hundreds wounded. In a war that has already probably set in motion an economic catastrophe.
I despise Obama. But I despise Trump more – because he is a traitor. We got what he promised we weren’t going to get. Barry was just serving his interests and everyone knew that.

Obama got far more Americans killed in Afghanistan than Trump has gotten killed in Iran (so far).
Recall that the Afghanistan war was VERY quiet prior to the Obama presidency — there was ONE U.S. KIA in the initial invasion in 2001 if I recall.
Obama ramped up troop deployments to over 100,000. I know because my kid was one of them. 2,500+ Americans got killed in the escalation. Some whom we knew.
And it was all for nothing. After the military-industrial complex got its promotions and fat contracts, the war ended (after 20 years!) and we left with the Taliban back in power, armed with billions in military hardware we abandoned.
Oh… and ZOG got to test all the spyware and surveillance technology they are now using on us here at home. Because we might be “terrorists” just like the Taliban.

Don’t forget about the Arab Spring in the Middle East after the Russian and Chinese wheat crops failed, Obama’s expansion of ethanol pushed more farmers into growing field corn instead of wheat and the boys over on the Chicago commodities exchange pushed up prices in response to all the crazy quantitive easing.

The country is full of these egoistical men and women who believe the rest of us worship them. Unfortunately, some idiots do. Jeezy peezy they are hiding a dead Senator from us! Then there is that other guy, Fauci, who pled the fifth while having immunity knowing the courts will do nothing. We have representatives who place Israel over their very own country and people, local governments and police departments illegally rigging cameras while destroying Americans Fourth Amendment rights, and corporations stealing personal data from our most private moments to sell to third party vendors. Shall I mention the continued taxation of our personal property on a semi annual basis? Some individuals end up paying more in taxes over their lifetime than they ever paid for the asset that they are being taxed on.

As a man, I am beyond flummoxed by this. I mean this pretending to be what you’re not – and to the extent Trump routinely does.
A friend of mine is a combat vet. I would never presume to pretend I’d “served” – and I expect if I did, my friend would no longer be that. Not until I walked it back and apologize for it.
I’ll never have to make such an apology, though. Because such a thing would never cross my mind.

I believe all this is more than narcissism but a planned, epic troll.
It’s a way to flush out those who aren’t fully on board MAGA, who may have a functioning conscience and the nugget of believing in their oath (enemies foreign and domestic).
He’s already purged some of the upper brass but to prevent a fracturing down the command and field staff as well as the ranks he needs to make sure the whole military is loyal and there’s no serious organization possible with access to trained manpower and materiel.
They’re preparing for the inevitable civil war. They know the descent of martial law will need to be swift and decisive. If they don’t succeed in the first few weeks they’ll lose. The Borg is learning from (apparent) failures in Vietnam and the Middle East.
They need to identify those in active or ready reserve that might be trouble to their plans.

Yes, I agree this could serve. I’m a practical man as well an idealistic one. Ideally, I’d like to see a libertarian society. Realistically, I know that only a select few are capable of it. A military requirement and a property requirement would serve to keep the worst sort from destroying society via the ballot box.
A few days ago, I got an unsolicited call from the Alabama GOP. I hung up on them.
Yesterday in the mail was a Republican National Committee “survey” i.e. a plea for donations. I answered the questions my way and am sending it back on their dime no less. The first answer was NO NEW FORIEGN WARS.
This is my little form of protest. Since voting doesn’t matter it’s all I have.
Another difference between President Trump and Patton/ MacArthur is that they actually won wars.
You really have to wonder who thought it was a good idea to put out stolen valor pictures anyway.
At least if you don’t count the Fall of the Philippines speed bump and being relieved of command during the Korean War by MacArthur.

Excellent point. The hubris and hypocrisy are completely off the charts. Teddy Roosevelt was an out-and-out warmonger, but at least he and his sons personally went into combat (and his youngest son Quentin died in World War I).
Kennedy personally served in combat, and his older brother was killed in World War II. Truman served in combat, and so did Eisenhower.
However, as a general rule, the biggest presidential warmongers were all chicken-hawks — Lincoln, Wilson and the cripple FDR never served and LBJ rigged a bullshit rearguard “service” purely for political effect in WWII. W of course went to the Texas National Guard instead of Vietnam.
