It is apparently true that a majority of Republican voters support Trump’s stupid, evil war. They just expressed their support – by voting to oust Thomas Massie, one of just a few Republicans who has criticized Trump’s stupid, evil war.

Trump will – correctly – see the ousting of Massie as an endorsement of his stupid, evil war and it will embolden him to continue rather than end it. Whether the general public supports the war is irrelevant. Trump’s base – which seems to have been been distilled down to mostly 65-plus retirees who can afford to pay $4.50 per gallon and think (like Trump) that it’s “worth it” because Iran would otherwise acquire the nuclear weapons “Netanyahu” has been saying they are on the cusp of developing any day now since the 1990s. They buy into the criticism-of-Israel is “anti-Semitic” catcall, many of them on account of their End Times Darbyite/Scofield Bible beliefs that “Israel” – the modern state – is synonymous with the Biblical people and it must be supported without question because if not then you are contra the God of the Bible’s instructions.
This is terrible news for Americans who do not want the world to end just yet so that Jesus (whom the Jews do not believe is the messiah but regard as a heretic who is eternally boiling in shit for that) will come back and before he does, will gracefully Hoover them up to be with him in Heaven while the world ends in Hell below.
It is terrible news for the people who thought they voted to get to the bottom of the Epstein Business. Massie (and Marjorie Taylor Greene) tried to do just that, naively believing Trump supported doing that. Massie was pretty much the sole remaining national level figure demanding answers that we’re now unlikely ever going to get.
We are, however, likely to get laws that criminalize “anti-Semitism.”
It is also terrible news for MAGA because Massie’s loss will be seen as a victory (which it is) for Trumpism, which is not the same thing as MAGA – though the president insists (echoing Rudolf Hess at Nuremberg) that MAGA is Trump and Trump is MAGA. Which boils down to: MAGA has no principles; it is merely whatever Trump says it is. To question this is to not be MAGA. Which means, of course, that to be MAGA means one must be a rabid devotee of whatever Trump says is MAGA. This is a mirror reflection of what Woke is – and the irony of that is lost on the rabid devotees of the MAGA cult.
Massie’s loss could not have come at a worse time – because Trump is likely now to resume the bombing and maybe worse. Had Massie won, it might have served to restrain Trump or at least given perhaps some of the people in his immediate circle something to use to persuade him that resuming the bombing would further antagonize his base and bleed away political support that could result in a mid-term wipeout for the Republicans generally. A Massie victory might have served, in other words, as something like a Stalingrad Moment for Trump. Instead, Trump will probably – rightly – see the Massie loss as a great win and a great endorsement of his stupid, evil war. It is unlikely he will see it any other way.
So, it is likely we’ll be seeing $5.00 per gallon gas before the end of the month, if Trump does what he is almost certainly going to do and resumes the stupid, evil war. It is likely to cost the Republicans dearly come the midterms, because then comes the backlash against this stupid, evil war. The Kentucky primary that Massie just lost was a Republican primary – meaning only Republicans got to vote in it. The midterms are elections in which everyone else gets to vote – and everyone else (largely) opposes Trump’s stupid, evil war – especially the under 30 cohort that is suffering the worst as a result. And which is the cohort that may have to pay for it not just at the pump. It being the cohort that is of draft age. Overwhelmingly, this cohort is uninterested in being drafted to fight for Israel.
Never mind. The over-60 cohort is eager to see them sent to fight for Israel and thinks it’s “worth it” for them to be bankrupted by impossible gas prices, unaffordable rent and crippling inflation. The over-60s got theirs. The stock market is doing bangers!
There will be aa price to be paid for all of this and the over-60 cohort is deluding itself if it believes is immune from the butcher’s bill that’s going to be presented.
Perhaps there is a silver lining to this dark cloud. Massie is now free – and maybe a resuscitated America Actually First movement will coalesce around him. One that is openly anti-MIGA.

A former policeman suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder set himself on fire Friday morning outside the home of a senior official in the Defense Ministry’s rehabilitation department in Neve Ilan outside of Jerusalem, the Defense Ministry and emergency services said.
The man in his 40s was in serious condition and suffering from severe burns on his body when firefighters arrived on the scene. They worked to extinguish the flames in the home’s yard as paramedics treated him for his wounds, according to the Fire and Rescue Service.
Medics took the injured man to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem neighborhood, where he was transferred to the intensive care unit for treatment. A Hadassah spokesperson said that he was sedated and put on a ventilator.
The man, a divorcee with three children, was recognized as disabled by the Defense Ministry’s rehabilitation department due to mild-to-moderate PTSD alongside a physical disability, according to Army Radio.

‘In a sign that the US is preparing for yet another evil war, Marco Rubio is now claiming that Cuba poses a “national security threat” to the United States, saying the likelihood of a peaceful agreement is “not high”.
“Cuba not only has weapons that they’ve acquired from Russia and China over the years, but they also host Russian and Chinese intelligence presence in their country — not far from where we’re standing right now,” Rubio told the press on Thursday.
“So Cuba has always posed a national security threat to the United States. They, by the way, have been one of the leading sponsors of terrorism in the entire region.”
Rubio’s comments come as a US intelligence report laundered through Axios claims that Cuba may be preparing to launch a drone strike against US military forces.
Havana said the Axios report misrepresents Cuba’s defensive measures as a preparation to attack, accusing the US of “fabricating pretexts, creating and spreading falsehoods, and distorting as extraordinary the logical preparation required to face a potential aggression.”
The US has also unsealed an indictment for Raul Castro, the 94 year-old brother of Fidel Castro, in a move that _resembles the playbook used for the kidnapping of Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro=.
The excuses for military action are already being rolled out.

I saw over at politico they have taken the pulse of the people in regard to hanta and ebola and realize they are not being taken seriously enough. While they have pied pipers such as RFK with some pull, their conclusion is that it will take serious pain and the conviction that the threat is not survivable in order for the people to submit again. Depends. If Congress can be bothered to pass a duty on exported petroleum (why should only Americans have to pay in the form of excise taxes, after all) they could internalize the externalities. Countries who import oil would have the option to oppose Iran’s expropriation of “international waters”, like they should have been doing all along, or have their citizens pay higher energy prices until the citizenry replace their governments with someone more sensible.

Under Texas law, a voter chooses his party affiliation for the election cycle through participation in one of the primaries. Any registered voter can participate in either major party’s primary, but their choice locks their affiliation through the end of the cycle in November.
I gave serious thought to participating in the Democrat primary and voting for Jasmine Crockett, but I didn’t want to be locked out of the Republican runoff next Tuesday where I will have to hold my nose and protect the incumbent RINO Senator.
What difference does that make? Are there any party-only issues on the November ballot in Texas?
I was spending the last couple days trying to remember who it was that was always going on about the reality of the parties being “private corporate clubs” or something like that. KrisAnne Hall. Outliers don’t make change, visionaries do. Massie had good ideas, but he was unable to convince his colleagues that his views were worth champing. I am all for ethics, morality, and integrity. I agree with Massie’s opinion on many things, but change does not happen without like minded thinkers. Why wasn’t Massie more successful in passing legislation? Why could he not bring people to his side? Massie now has free range to speak as he wishes. Will he read the names of those in the Epstein files? Will he actually discuss how corrupt Congress is and name names?
I am concerned that we are just trading one politician for another to perpetuate our fantasies and wishes. When Massie announces his run for the Presidency for 2028 are Libertarians going to clamor and jump off the sidelines to vote, well, because he is different.

OK…let me see if I am getting your point. Perhaps we actually agree because if you are saying the system is broken and cannot have actual positive effects, I agree. From the 30,000 foot level, especially given the nature of the population, having a single ruling entity over this large and diverse of a population seems impossible to manage. A good actor like Massie cannot make a difference because the model is broken in its very basic assumptions. Perhaps Jim Rogers was right in his book Investment Biker when he postulated that a breakup of the U.S. into free trading entities of much smaller conglomerations would actually work efficiently. The ideas, especially under the Articles of Confederation, could work pretty well but not necessarily scale. In any case, tis an interesting world we are living in…..my anger would be even more incandescent towards the retards that destroyed this country were I to have children of my own.

Thanks to the way the House is organized, committee leaders and/or the Speaker can stop a bill from ever coming to the floor. If a bill doesn’t make it through committee and onto the floor, it won’t be up for a vote; if it’s not up for a vote, it cannot and will not pass, as being brought to a floor vote is a necessary prerequisite of passage.

Good on him for that. He has attempted to kill the kill switch in cars. So far, he had been unsuccessful in that.
The thing is, that there are so many things that could have been at least proposed and put up for discussion, so I say, where are the bills? A few examples –
1. Repeal the Patriot Act
2. Eliminate the TSA
3. Eliminate gas mileage requirements for vehicles
4. Roll back some (if not all) FMVSS
5. Roll back the FDA
6. Cut gas prices by eliminating oxygenated fuel requirmenets and tier 2 bin 5 requriements for diesel and gas vehicles.
Opposition to the current thing is good, but you want to have an end goal in mind. Keeep sponsoring legislation. Open up a discussion. Create controversy. Keep doing it.

I say this as a certified old fart/boomer who is now 78 – WTF is wrong with these old people?! I was in college in the 60’s and a lot of us protested the Vietnam war, worked for Eugene McCarthy and later for George McGovern to end that stupid evil war. A high school friend who lived next door to me back then came home in a body bag; his parents were crushed, they separated and moved away and we lost contact after that. I got sent for a pre-induction physical right after graduation since my student deferment was over; the only thing that saved was that they already had enough warm bodies for that time period so I did not end up getting enslaved, which is the true meaning of “drafted”.

As an accountant, surely you realize this is at best a morally casual take on the real situation. (Disclosure: Does not apply to me, but it does to most.) The real bugaboo here is tax, specifically capital gains and estate.
Buy a house for $100k, hold it for 40 years, sell it for, say, $1.1mil and go to live in assisted living. That’s a $1 million taxable capital gain. If you didn’t plan ahead very well, Uncle will nick you for $200k. On a capital gain that was really just inflation.
It’s not the elders at fault here. It’s Congress, who can’t keep their spending in their pants. Housing would be affordable if they didn’t monetize the debt, and especially if they weren’t paying rent for illegals, pushing rentals up, and consequently prices up.

Statistically I think the results occurred because the number of registered voters fell that way. There’s two main ways the vote is cheated.
One is completely fake votes via the dead people, the stolen ballots, etc.
The other is to flip actual votes that are cast via the corruption of voting machine software, etc.
So since the majority of voter registrations are going to be Boomers and GenX (dead, alive, fake or otherwise) it’s just a matter of numbers for the algorithms to work on. They need registrations that are not wholly made up, they need real IDs that at least pass a basic check of ZIP code and SSN.
Note that I’m in complete agreement that Massie’s voting was highly manipulated. The other guy was an AIPAC stuffed suit so why would anyone not assume the AIPAC and Mossad/CIA/MI5 election rigging machine would not have been working at 200%?
