Will the Apologists Apologize?

Those of us who were right about “masks” and “vaccines” and called out the wrong inherent in forcing these things on people never got the apology that’s necessary before we can forgive. Will the apologists for Trump’s betrayals ever apologize for defending him when he not only betrayed us by starting the war but mocked us for opposing it?

We have been paying at the pump – and pretty much everywhere else – for what Trump did, just the same we did back in 2020 (when Trump didn’t end the “emergency” that led to years of misery for Americans. Trump’s failure to stop the spread – of “masking” and mass absentee balloting months before the 2020 selection – led to the selection of Joe Biden and we all got to pay for that. Trump’s failure to put Americans rather than “Bibi” first led to Americans paying a War Tax of at least $1,000 annually (so far) just at the pump and that led to the Blue Douching that just washed away what had been effective Republican control of Congress or at least, enough control to stymie the Blues.

Not anymore, as Inspector Clouseau used to say.

Now the Blues own Congress – both houses – and we’re going to pay for that, too. The Blues are going to undo whatever superficial good Trump may have done during the first year of his failed second term, such as his ending of fines for non-compliance with federal mandatory miles-per-gallon “standards” that pushed V8 and V6 engines off the mass market and pushed EeeeeeeVeees and hybrids onto what is no longer a market for exactly that reason. These “standards” – and fines – are certain to go back up once the final Blue Douching (of Trump himself) is done two years hence. Expect all sorts of wonderful things to come, courtesy of Trump and his apologists. Including – and this will be consequential – the kiboshing of any Supreme Court nominations he makes during the last two years of his failed presidency.

There is perhaps a way to salvage something out of the wreckage. It begins with dumping Trump. He has got to go. For the same reason that you can’t clean the toilet when there’s still a turd in the bowl.

In 1974, Republicans understood that Nixon had to go. It was the only way. So the Republican leaders paid him a visit and told him so. Gerald Ford became the caretaker president for the remainder of Nixon’s failed second term and then we got Jimmy Carter for four years. There is a chance we might not get something worse than that in two years, but only if the Orange Turd is flushed long before then and the war ended and whatever’s left of the Republican Party repudiates the nauseating fealty to Israel and Israel-Firsters that led to the war and the Blue Douching. The Republican Party has got to terms with the fact that Americans – most of us – are not interested in putting Israel First, are tired of “Bibi’s” bullshit. They want what Trump promised them. Lower taxes – not a War Tax. They do not want a billionaire asshole lecturing them about how “it’s a small price to pay” for the sake of his (and “Bibi’s”) war.

But it has to happen fast.

Trump must be sent packing to Mara Lago by Thanksgiving or even sooner than that. He is cancer. Radioactive. The longer he stays, the worse it is going to get. Everything will be About Trump and getting him – which of course he fully deserves. The thing is, we don’t. Does the Republican Party understand? If it does, it must recognize what has got to be done. All the Keitels and Jodls around Trump (Mike Johnson, Thune) have got to go as well as Trump himself. A new, actually America First movement – perhaps led by Thomas Massie – could at least form a credible opposition to the Blues who are now ascendant.

No person who is a recipient of AIPAC money or a dual citizen can have anything to do with this opposition in order for it to be credible.

It could be immensely powerful.

The core message of MAGA was – and still is. It didn’t get repudiated yesterday.

Trump and his Israel-first movement did.

  1. Trump really fucked us over good. He had a truly golden opportunity to make positive changes for us Americans. To an extent, he did. He was really good on the Second Amendment and on his Supreme Court picks.

But he had to fuck it up with his slavish subservience to Israel, his stupid ballroom, and his nonstop bloviating about stupid shit. He could have deported more illegals but he fucked it up with the ICE goon tactics. He could have purged the military of the tranny shit but Hegseth turned out to be an asshole. His bullshit about how he might annihilate Iran if he felt like it and how Iran was begging him for a deal got old quick. The Greenland bullshit… the family grift… all of it.

The Republicans ran some truly horrid candidates in what should have been slam-dunk states like South Carolina, Texas and Ohio. They all lost. They might even lose a Senate Senate in Mississippi and the Governor’s race in Alaska.

Decent judicial appointments for the next two years? Forget it.

Now we’re fucked good. Now we’re gonna get the trannies, the queers, the girlbosses, etc. and they are going to strap one on and shove it in hard and deep.

    • I agree, X –

Trump is singularly responsible for this. He will go down in history as the most catastrophically consequential president. At least Lincoln was competent. A tyrant, of course. But I give him credit for competence. And intelligence. Trump is an incompetent, reckless buffoon.

But there is still a chance to stave off the worst to come. It begins by getting Trump out of there. Now. He has to be repudiated by everyone who isn’t wanting all the things you describe. Every got-damned Israeli pin and flag has got to go on the burn pile. A commitment to America First must be enunciated and acted on. Remove Trump before he can restart the war. Then make peace with Iran. That’s a start.

There is a brief window of last-chance opportunity.
