Here is the latest reader Question, along with my Reply:

Dennis asks: Love your work!  Would really like to see you take a stab at ethanol, but you may want to wait till all the soil is destroyed in places like Iowa pushing that GMO corn. No one seems to focus on the point that Tesla and Uber lose money.  I think when Uber pulls off its IPO, that will signal the top of the stock market.

My reply: I’ve written about ethanol several times, including here and here. I agree, it’s egregious. As has been observed, good ideas don’t require force. If ethanol made economic and practical sense, it would not be necessary to mandate it. The fact that it is necessary – insofar as lining the pockets of the ethanol lobby – pretty much tells you everything you need to know about it.

I’ve also dogged Tesla and electric vehicles generally pretty relentlessly. Again, they exist not because they are superior products but because of government mandates. As far as Uber and other such, I am actually in the midst of working up an article on that.

Stay tuned!

  1. Subsidy and “egregious” practices against the earth and the people can be summed up simply, no representation. Congress is and has been, bought and paid for as long as I can recall.
