This is what’s become of “freedom” in the Homeland, a place America was never supposed to be. Never mind we still have to empty our pockets and spread our legs and raise our hands over our heads and accept government goons rifling through our things and putting their hands on our women and children anytime they like.

We’re supposed to forget (and many have) that at one time – it was less than 25 years ago – Americans could travel by air anonymously and without molestation. Those too young today to remember will perhaps not believe it but prior to the transformation of America into a Homeland – which took place shortly after the federal government used “terrorism” as the excuse to impose terrorism on the American people in the name of keeping us safe from it – anyone could just buy a ticket to fly and once they had done so, they were free to fly.
You did not have to show ID to buy the ticket. You only had to show the ticket to fly. This meant the government didn’t know you were flying – or to where. Imagine that. Your business wasn’t the government’s because there was a time when Americans weren’t presumed to be “terrorists” – which of course the government doesn’t actually worry about much less believe. That is for the people who are terrorized by the government to believe. If you do not believe that, consider the fact that no one who owns or charters or flies in a private airplane ever had to take their shoes off or submit to molestation or show ID to a government goon in order to get on the airplane. The Security Kabuki (like Sickness Kabuki) was and still is only for the cattle, not the ranchers.
The cattle (most of them) do not know about this, of course. Because most of them do not have the means to own a private airplane or even fly privately. If they did know what doesn’t go on at the general aviation (i.e., private) terminal they might wonder how anyone not actually retarded could believe that an actual terrorist organization would be stymied from using private airplanes to attack Our Freedoms. Are these “terrorists” unable to charter a private airplane? Are we to believe that a rich Saudi prince or someone similarly positioned lacks the means to do that?
Never mind. The American Homeland iteration of Ilse, She-Wolf of the SS, has told us we are free to keep our shoes on as we’re processed through the cattle gates at airports. And the cattle are supposed to be appreciative. No doubt some are. Just as some are grateful for the “refund” they get – of their own money, sans interest or penalties – after the government has taken it and made use of it for a year, at the end of the tax year.

It is hard to say which is worse. The degradation visited upon Americans or the degraded state of Americans. The distinction is no small matter. Americans – not all, of course – but a depressingly large number of them – have been reduced to the condition of field hands grateful for what massa allows them. One thing Israel, for all its faults, does right is airport security. They don’t bother with touching your junk, making you take off your shoes, and dumping out your drinks, because none of those things actually work to reduce risks.
Rather, they engage in extensive behavioral profiling. They’re checking you out the minute you buy a ticket, and hone in on red flags before you even get to the airport. One way ticket? That’s a red flag. Traveling alone? That’s a red flag. Not checking bags? That’s a red flag. While none of those things by themselves will trigger a warning, the presence of multiple red flags will.
And once you get to the airport, they ask you seemingly innocent and random questions to determine your intentions.
We should have been doing that before—but don’t. The question is, why? But do we really want to know the answer?

I have not flown domestically or internationally since 2011. America has become a nation of pussies and I refuse to participate in that humiliation ritual. Friends and relatives think I am insane for driving thousands of miles to events that interest me. Frankly, driving off the beaten path is one of the few allowed free acts that one can easily participate in. Besides, one can interact with real people in little dying towns is rural America…..most of the folks I have met were really nice from TN to NH and back and of course, a couple of times I had the pleasure of meeting Eric and his young lady friend face to face. In a few weeks I will be driving to Texas for Ron Paul’s 90th birthday celebration and I will be around a group of people that I consider normal. As el gato malo said, it’s nice to exit the echo chamber of negativity from time to time to enjoy the world that the tyrants can never control.

The world runs on international business and leisure travel. I find the US quite boring, frankly, and hate driving all over the place to take a vacation (and my car does not drive well over water). So I fly – and use precheck, global entry, and Clear. I guess I’m just a compliant sheep, and part of the problem, then – so be it. But, travel has given me perspective and enrichment, and I can see first hand that everything our government tells us about the rest of the world is bullshit. So I will keep on keeping on. It’s too late now, so I don’t fault you for flying now. But I do lament that there was no mass boycott of flying when it could have ended the TSA before the latter got a foothold. Just as “masking” could not have been enforced if – at the start – a large number of people had simply refused to go along with it. Instead, most did – and so “masking” lasted for years. Just the same, we now live in a Homeland rather than America because not enough Americans were willing to say – back in 2002 – that they won’t fly again until they can do so without being forced to endure degrading Security Kabuki rituals.
Agree 100%. I remember what things were and lament what has been lost. I very much refused at first. Then, I realized it wasn’t going away, and decided I would not refuse my way into not enjoying my favorite hobby of travel. That, and client development for my business demanded it. I took what they gave me, precheck, etc. so as to avoid the radiation scanners and the degrading “I surrender” pose. Sad, but you can pay your way into a better experience more reminiscent of what was, but this also comes with a cost – to give them the biometrics and information they likely mostly have anyway. The alternative is to practice avoidance, and miss opportunities. The world is a beautiful place, with many wonderful people. The US Homeland experience is ugly, and resembles North Korea and assorted such shitholes more than the ideals we once embodied.

Last time I flew was back in 2016. I had to get out to AZ to deal with the death of my dad. I came this close – on the way home – to going to jail and maybe prison. I was tired and sad and forgot “the rules” that forbade the carrying of bottles of liquid in carry-ons. I had stowed in my bag a couple of bottles of high-end whiskey (unopened) that my dad had at their house. The son-of-a-bitch TSA cretin confiscated them and I almost lost control of myself. There was a moment of blind fury and hate during which I imagined ripping out his larynx and jumping on his corpse before they subdued me. I will never put myself in that situation again.

This is what I’ve concluded, too. There were moments when resistance would have been effective, long ago and recent. Mostly decisions made generations ago make things they way they are now. Maybe we can understand them, maybe we can fix them. I think we tinker around the fringes mostly, though. I think post 9/11 was a generational inflection point that I wish older people than me would have recognized. I think the con of COVID was one I could have done better. Although I think the outcome of that could have really been much worse. As bad as it was we didn’t not end up in literal, tanks in the street totalitarianism. Power was consolidated, the plan maybe moved ahead, but I don’t think anything that wasn’t already in place got added.
But, still, am I willing to self impose a personal prison? Nope. Was it worth traveling, seeing places and people, putting up with the bull? I think it has been. The world has been under the thumb of banksters since 1913, really long before that, too. But instead of sneering at them, lamenting my poor situation, I prefer to think highly of people who despite things still decided to invent, explore, build things anyway. It doesn’t matter if they knew the evilness under it all they didn’t sit around complaining, making excuses why it couldn’t be done. They just did thing.
The loss of all the historic buildings on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a new opportunity to test this. When it was built in 1928 Americans weren’t meek. They were building a railroad and dammit were going to have a lodge in a beautiful spot. It burned down a couple of years later and they rebuilt it again in 1932. A kitchen fire a few years after in 1937 burned it down again. It lasted until 2025 because people were willing to fight fires. The NPS screwed up, the ineptitude of government and political correctness contagion on display, let the whole thing burn to the ground. What are WE going to do about it? Let that stop us from rebuilding it again? If the NPS, Congress, the Executive drag it out then we need to tell them get the hell out of the way, we’ll do it anyway. It may be symbolic and nothing like allowing the TSA and Homeland Security to fester. But maybe it can be a moment where all the money thrown at useless “experts” will be recognized as wasted. What good did it do to let them manage our land for us? It still burns, it still will be “closed until further notice”. We’d been no worse off and arguably better off had they done nothing at all over the decades.

ICE has jurisdiction and the ability to detain anywhere within 100 miles of the coastline or the border. If you want to see the future, go look at the ICE checkpoint located on the northbound lanes more than an hour north of the border on I-69 between Brownsville and Victoria, TX.
