Trump’s genius lies in taking two positions on the same issue. That way, his followers can tell themselves he’s on their side of the issues. A fine example of this being Trump’s pushing of drugs while at the same time saying things that make it possible for his followers (not all, but entirely too many) to believe he never pushed them or would again.
His followers like to say that no one was forced to take the drugs he pushed – never mind that’s a lie (ask anyone in the military; they were ordered to take the drugs). Civilians could choose to be fired instead.
Many of his followers voted for him because they thought he was opposed to forcing people to take drugs. They ought to consider what he just said:
“I think you have to be very careful when you say that some people don’t have to be vaccinated,” he replied when asked by a reporter about HHS Secretary RFK, Jr.’s repudiation of drug-pushing by the federal government. “They’re just, pure and simple – they work. They’re not controversial at all. And I think those vaccines should be used.”
Note that he didn’t say should be available. Meaning, people ought to be free to decide for themselves whether to take these drugs. He said they should be “used.” Meaning, people – in particular, kids – ought to be forced to take them. Because “they work.”
Whether they do or don’t is not the point, of course. The point is the authoritarian utilitarianism Trump articulated in his own uniquely inarticulate way. The bully-in-chief decides something “works” – according to his own arbitrary standard – and so ought to be “used,” by which he always means imposed.
Even RFK, Jr. – for all his good intentions – misses the point. Which is the involvement of the federal government in this drug-pushing business. Drugs can only be pushed when there is force. Government is force. It never asks. It demands. The irony here is as rich as it is depressing in that government reflexively refers to those who offer drugs to those who are free to not buy them as “pushers” while at the same time pushing drugs on people with the vehement and all-encompassing force that only the government can bring to bear.
During the “pandemic” – a thing also created and enforced by the government – it was nigh impossible t avoid the pushers, first of masks and then of the drugs styled “vaccines.” It was the government that tried to deprive people of their livelihoods and careers if they refused the drugs being pushed on them. This is the fundamental thing; whether drugs “work” is or ought to be entirely beside the point in a free society.
People have been boxed into this stupid corner in which they argue with one another about whether these drugs “work” – not whether they ought to be pushed. There would be no contretemps over these drugs if it were simply a question of availability. Take away government force and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla would have had to convince people that his drugs “worked.” Indeed, he would have been under great pressure to make sure they did “work” before he decided to make them available because things that do not work are quickly rejected when it becomes evident they do not work. But when government force is available to push a drug – or any other thing – whether that drug or other thing “works” is almost an irrelevance.
Trump is instinctively – unconsciously – authoritarian. He is a Babbitt-like caudillo who goes with what “works,” as he sees it. He never forthrightly begins a conversation about drugs or anything else by articulating a principle and then applying it to the particular situation at hand. In this he is a typical Republican. He does not object to statism – the use of government power to push things. He only objects to the pushing he opposes.
His followers – all too many of them – continue to believe he isn’t a pusher, because he sometimes says things that enable them to believe he isn’t. The way to know what is – and is not – isn’t so much by listening to what he says but taking note of what he does. Has he done anything to hold accountable the likes of Albert Bourla, Anthony Fauci or Bill Gates? He just invited the latter to sit with him and Melania at the White House. These actions speak volumes.
So also his latest utterances about how “some people don’t have to be vaccinated.” By which he means to say they ought to be forced to.
Because the vaccines “work.”

I am not sure how said people could believe a face diaper would protect them. I too supported Donald Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024. I supported him because I believed that America would be safer, more prosperous, and more free under his leadership.

I had my own issues with Trump the past few years and was considering voting for Robert F Kennedy Jr when he ran for President, but of course, when he was running as a Democrat, the Democratic Party all but declared they were backing Joe Biden all the way until they forced Biden out and engaged in a very “undemocratic” way by installing Kamala Harris as their nominee for President.
Had we had a Trump v Kennedy race last year instead of a Trump v Harris race, it would have been harder for me to decide who to vote for.

I think much of the reason why that is has to do with politics being a profession and government being the Mecca for people who want to control people and make a very good living doing it. Florida’s Surgeon General, Joseph Ladapo, recently declared that his state was going to end ALL vaccine mandates in the state. His declaration likely freaked out people who’ve effectively become members of the cult of vaccines and think everyone should be forced to take whatever vaccines corrupt public health bureaucracies say people should take. The problem is, many of the vaccine “recommendations” are absolutely insane, such as Hepatitis B vaccines for children on the day they’re born or COVID booster jabs that have proven to have negative efficacy, meaning people who take a booster are MORE likely to get the dreaded ‘Rona than those who don’t.
And with flu season coming up, there are already PSAs urging people to get a flu vaccine. However, there was a study earlier this year showing that people who take a flu shot are around 27% MORE likely to get the flu than those who don’t. Also, around 20 years ago there was actually a report in corporate media on a similar study that was done on seniors. In this study, “Public Health” bureaucrats thought that flu deaths among seniors would fall if more seniors took a flu shot, but instead, flu deaths among seniors who’ve been vaxxed kept rising, so what did “public health bureaucrats” at the time do? Instead of admitting they were wrong about flu shots, the CDC decided to “recommended” flu shots for children and likely added them to all the other vaccines that have been added to the “Childhood vaccination schedule” over the past few decades.
