Trump has painted himself into a corner over this Epstein Stuff.
As everyone knows, he made a big deal – during the campaign – about it, promising that he would get to the bottom of it and let the public know all about it, if he got re-elected. Then he got re-elected and all of a sudden, the former fervor to spill the details began to wane, until it disappeared altogether. It was just a “hoax,” the re-elected president snapped. One confected by Democrats – which is an interesting assertion given that so many prominent Democrats, including Bill Clinton have been linked to Epstein in ways that look pretty damning.
Why would Democrats push a “hoax” that made many of their leading avatars look really bad?
A better question, perhaps, is: Why would Trump turn so aggressively against spilling the entire (unredacted) contents in the “files” held by the government?
A hypothesis that perhaps makes some sense is that Trump believed he could make a campaign issue of the Epstein Stuff and that people would forget all about it after the campaign. Like they did his “lock her up” promises – if anyone remembers those.
This is perhaps the key to understanding Trump’s art of the deal. He is a dog-whistler par excellence. He says what he knows his audience wants to hear – and then does nothing (or even the opposite, as for example his sudden priapism for regime-changing).
Maybe he said what he thought people – especially his people – wanted to hear about the Epstein Stuff because those people had been hearing a great deal about it for several years prior to the last election.
They understandably wanted to know whether it was true that high-placed government officials were not just banging very young women (some of whom may have been adolescent girls) but also whether they were being blackmailed for having done such. The latter is even more important than the former because while the former is atrocious – if it is true that rich old men were banging very young women procured for them by Epstein and that perhaps some of these were adolescent girls being trafficked by him – the blackmailing part is much worse. If that is true, it means the blackmailers had operative control over high-placed government officials, which means those blackmailers would have enjoyed control over the federal government and its various appendages.
This would entail both treason and an act of war, if the blackmailers turned out to be assets of a foreign power. Imagine if – a hypothetical scenario – it were revealed that Trump had been banging underage Russian girls and Putin had the negatives, so to speak. More than just impeachment would ensue. Would the scenario be any different if it were revealed that the negatives were possessed by Israel? Well, of course. Americans having in the main been conditioned to regard Russia as the Enemy and the state of Israel as the Ally. The Greatest Ally.
But it would explain Trump’s obsequious behavior of late as regards the Greatest Ally, which he seems to be on the verge of taking America to war for. He practically banged Miriam Adelson on live TV – or at least seemed like he wanted to. Though maybe it’s actually the reverse.
In any event, Trump now finds himself painted into the corner he painted himself into. He made such an issue of the Epstein Thing while campaigning that it just won’t go away – no matter how many regimes he changes. Probably because the allegations are so beyond disgusting that people refuse to forget all about them and move on, as they have with regard to “lock her up” and let’s not forget those $5,000 DOGE refunds we were promised.
This probably explains why – weeks tardy – some of the Epstein Stuff got dumped the other day. By now, of course, the people who dumped it have had plenty of time to redact, scissor and just get rid of the most damning stuff. Even so, there is so much stuff there might be some stuff about Trump that could prove far worse for Trump than the White House Tapes (and erased portions) proved to be for Richard Nixon – because this stuff is far worse than covering up a political break-in at the Watergate Hotel. Nixon was a crook – but (as far as we know) he wasn’t a diddler of young girls.
If it turns out that Trump was . . . Well, it may explain why he seems to be so eager to trigger a major war that could make everyone forget all about that.

I agree. Also what happened in my state (VA). It seems obvious to me that Trump is systematically destroying MAGA. The die-hards will continue to support him, of course. But it is majorities that determine the outcome of elections. Trump won by not all that much – in terms of the popular vote (which largely determines the Electoral vote). He won a few critical states by a few thousand or tens of thousands of votes. He (MAGA) can’t afford to lose those votes. Yet that is just what he is causing to occur. If the current course holds, the midterms will flush MAGA down the toilet as a political force, leaving Trump in office to flail like a coked-up gorilla for the remainder of his term – assuming he isn’t removed from office by a Democrat majority and totally whipped minority.

I try to understand people; I try to view things as someone else might view things. I am utterly at a loss to understand these monsters. How dead do you have to be as a human being to screw around with a kid? I don’t even understand the (to me) deranged lust for more money than any human being could possibly have any sane use for. I think to myself: If I had a million bucks, free and clear, I’d be able to relax for the rest of my life and work because I want to work and piddle with my hobbies, like the TA project – and be free to enjoy life for the rest of my life. What the Hell does one need $50 billion for? Or even ten million? More finely, why must some people seek more? Mind, I am in no way disparaging wealth, as such. But is it not a tool, at bottom? And – ultimately – is it not a tool to free one from the drudgery of worrying about paying the mortgage/rent and so on? Once you no longer have to worry about those things – ever again – and you know your kids won’t have to worry about them, either – why not just pursue your interests and such?

It’s not treason, because we are not in a state of war with anyone Israel is at war with.
Congress should definitely stop the shipments; in fact they should put their foot down and insist that all major spending needs their line-item appropriation, like the Constitution implies. Not the stupid “informal review”, which means it’s not required by law, but rather something they can point to anytime it serves their interests.
Not going to happen, though. The Feds have become too big for Congress to review every major expense. They would have no time at all to get money from lobbyists.
It seems the only way Congress would call for stopping arms shipments to another country would be if such shipments were being sent to Russia given that Neocons, the establishment, and corporate media wants everyone afraid of and hating Russians.
It really pisses me off we send foreign aid to those vipers from hell when our own people are sleeping in tents and on bare ground. I see it everyday.

It’s not just the federal government doing that; many state governments are also sending tons of taxpayer dollars to NGOs under guise of “Affordable housing”, “Stopping cliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimate change”, or some other BS narrative; California being just one notorious example. The NGOs and donors to politicians like Gavin Newsom get wealthy while the masses get screwed. I heard the other day that after, IIRC, billions of dollars were (supposedly) spent on recovery from last year’s fires in the Los Angeles area, only around TEN homes were actually rebuilt.

A sufficiently aggrieved victim might decide to violate an NDA. It could be the only way we would ever find out about what seems to be a massive cover-up, all under seal.
An NDA prohibiting the reporting of a crime or other unlawful behavior to authorities is per se void and unenforceable.

It’s probably not the in-terrorem effect of an unenforceable NDA that keeps victims from reporting the crimes to authorities. It’s more likely that they don’t want to be un-alived after doing so. They made sure that it was very public that Virginia Giuffre was first in a 70 mph car crash from which she survived (which caused her bruises and a black eye and renal failure where she was told she’s die within days). After recovering she was suicided about a month later.
That would make me think twice about going public. I would think if they can kill a high profile victim like Virginia in Australia, they could easily do it to me.
Jim I thought your post was illuminating. Shawn Ryan recently interviewed the sister of a young man who was horribly abused at summer camp and his own lawyers pushed him into an NDA. She revealed how this is standard practice even for minors, and has led a charge to successfully pass legislation in multiple states that renders NDAs null and void if involving abuse of minors. Depending on what states, this could blow the whole thing open. Look up Trey’s Law (sp?)
