It makes you miss (almost) that well-known scholar, former president George W. Bush.
It’s “not a big deal at all” . . . for Trump, who can easily afford not just the gasoline (say it with a snarky, purse-lipped intonation, as he did) and also a fleet of 250 Cadillac Escalade SUVs with huge V8s that guzzle oceans of gas, since you and I are paying for it. Most of us can’t afford the Escalade – even just one. As far as the gas, “a tiny little bit more” has so far added up to around $700 for the average American filling up his or her average four-cylinder-powered crossover appliance once a week. By year’s end, the average American will have had to spend more than $1,000 extra on gas. Pocket change for Trump. He is as clueless as George W. Bush’s father (who was puzzled about the cost of a gallon of milk) but with the added element of imperial contempt.
Of course, Trump also thinks no cost is too high for Americans to pay on behalf of Israel and “Bibi” Netanyahu. The latter literally gave Trump (and before him, The Chimp) the talking points about Iran being the “number one state sponsor of terror in the world . . . we don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon,” which “Bibi” has been warning the Iranians are going to possess any day now since the early 1990s. It’s not just bullshit. It’s bullshit that’s dried white and crumbled into dust decades ago. Trump may actually believe it. More likely, he hopes you’ll believe it.
Iran is “a very evil country”? Says the man who ordered the bombing of a girl’s school. Says the man who has made this country an un-indicted co-conspirator in genocide? He’s mocking us all. Most especially, he’s mocking the saps who clap when he tells them they ought to be happy to pay “a little bit more for your gasoline.”
We can only sit back and hope that “the Iranians” don’t cause him to sleep with the fishes. If that were to happen, the Lee Greenwood song would be playing everywhere and (very soon) we’ll be paying a lot more than $4 per gallon.

Gasoline here is stuck around $4.44. I see on the freeway many people actually driving below or at the speed limit in brand new cars and trucks. Demand destruction must be happening, a lot of people are being squeezed with current gas prices.
