Have you been shopping for beef lately? For steak, specifically? I just did that yesterday – but I didn’t buy any, because the price seems to have almost doubled to – according to my informal survey – about $12 on the low end for a small, not-prime-cut steak that cost around $8 a few months ago. The decent-size ribeyes were $16 and up each. Some were over $20.
Trump – in his usual low-rent way – promises that beef will be more affordable soon because he has approved the tariff-free importation of “300,000 metric tons of lean beef trimmings” from undisclosed sources. These “trimmings” – meaning, probably, the parts and pieces left on the floor of the slaughterhouse that they sweep up – will have to be sold 25 percent below current market prices for the next 90 days. That’s three whole months! It all ends just in time for the mid-terms, too.
Curiously, Trump’s official proclamation is headlined: President Donald J. Trump Further Ensures Affordable Beef for the American Consumer.
“Affordable”? Hasn’t Trump been arguing that there is no “affordability” problem? That it is all a hoax and Democrat talking points, like the Epstein Stuff? Someone call Humpty Dumpty, who was the first to elaborate the doctrine that “When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.”
Nor anything at all.
Humpty Trumpty’s proclamation goes on:
“Since returning to office, President Trump has moved swiftly to restore affordability, fight to reverse the Biden Administration’s inflation crisis, and strengthen America’s farmers, ranchers, and food supply.”
Italics added. No explanation necessary.
“Under President Trump, even after accounting for higher prices, real wages grew by $822 in 2025, putting more money in the pockets of hard-working Americans, with more savings on the way from further deregulation.”
Even if true, every cent of that gain (and then some, for most of us) has already been lost at the pump, courtesy of the War Tax we’re all paying.
Back to the beef. According to the White House, “Today’s action reflects The Trump administration’s continued focus on driving down costs for all Americans.” Let’s translate that into non-Humpty-ese:
Americans will get temporarily less expensive slaughterhouse sweepings from God-only-knows-where. In Humpty-Trumpy’s own words. Or at least, the words of his scribes:
“This temporary action will increase beef supply by roughly 10% over current projections – an amount that will deliver economic relief to American consumers, will only compete with cull cow markets, and will not significantly impact the fed cattle market”
Italics added.
What is a “cull cow”? It’s another way of saying a downer cow – as people who raise cows refer to cows on their last legs, who can barely stand on them anymore and that often have to be dragged or (via a front end loader) scooped up and hauled to the hamburger mill.
Note: There will be no reduction in the cost of steaks – like the prime ribeyes that are no doubt served au jus to the diners at the White House, for whom the cost of beef is as much a concern as the cost of gas.
Welcome to the Golden Age!

“Let them eat organ meat”!
Bear in mind that this inflationary price spiral is functionally the same as the ongoing debasement of the Roman coinage. When the coinage had dropped to 5% silver content, the Empire soon collapsed.
Inflation is currency debasement. If you look at a chart of the debasement of Roman coins over time, and the loss of the purchasing power of the US Dollar over time, the charts are nearly identical – though we have managed to accomplish in a century what it took the Romans two and a half centuries to do.
The US Dollar has lost more of its original value today than the denarius had lost when things fell apart.
I wonder what comes next?
The big announcement was about scrap meat and we’re supposed to ooh and ahh?
I am continually bewildered by Trump thinking he can deal with the entire world like a supplier at a construction site by bullying and gaslighting them. When it backfires, he just tells us everything is fine and denies reality.
And I guess we are supposed to just accept that he is great, everything is great, anything not great is a hoax.
I just haven’t figured out if he believes what he says or not.
When we complain about the higher prices, these repulsivecans and their mouth pieces in the media tell us to stop being lazy and work more and harder. And that’s if you can get a job.
“300,000 metric tons of lean beef trimmings”
Are you gonna swallow that tripe?!?
Literal tripe. That’s what he’s offering. At least the slaves and wetbacks got tritip and skirt steak.
Story that I heard was that the beef is coming from Argentina – and it’s unfit for human consumption.
Due to the long history of Foot & Mouth Disease in Argentine, they give anti-biotics to all their animals – chloramphenicol that is banned for all food animals worldwide.
Side effects include:
Blood disorders: Bone marrow failure and fatal aplastic anemia can happen even after small doses.
Gray baby syndrome: Newborns can get low blood pressure, blue skin, and belly swelling.
Nerve issues: Numbness in the hands or feet or optic nerve damage may occur.
Stomach upset: Nausea, vomiting, and loose stools.

Latest I’ve heard is that they’ve now cancelled the import.
Thank you or this, Steve!
Disgusting, but predictable. With Trump, always assume the worst and you’ll never be disappointed.
Seeing Steve is from the UK:
What about those Ukrainian eggs that are allegedly responsible for the outbreak of salmonella in your country?
It seems the ‘dear leaders’ everywhere are not overly concerned about the peons’ health.
After all, should there be some bad outcomes, there is always the pharma industry to ‘cure’ us!
Yes, I have heard this, as well. When even China refuses the beef/ meat from Argentina, you know it is bad. From what I read, the crap that is put in the beef can cause blindness and kidney failure.
I heard Trump had ordered beef from Argentina to help Argentina/Milei. Here’s a clip of him saying, “they are fighting for their lives” and that he likes the president of Argentina
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DcjHGEwBuSB/
AI: “The Agreement: On February 6, 2026, the U.S. and Argentina signed a trade agreement in Washington to cut hundreds of tariffs.
“Beef Quotas: The deal increased the amount of Argentine beef allowed into the U.S. at lower tariff rates to 100,000 tons per year, followed by an additional February 7 proclamation adding 80,000 metric tons of lean trimmings for ground beef.
“Stated Goals: Trump stated that importing more lean beef from Argentina helps increase supply and lower high food costs for American families.
“The Personal Alliance and Favor Accusations
“Public Support: Trump has openly stated that he wants to help Argentina “survive in a free world” because he likes President Milei, who is one of his closest international allies.
“Backlash from Ranchers: U.S. cattle farmers, agricultural groups, and bipartisan lawmakers strongly opposed the deal. They argue that the administration is putting foreign farmers ahead of domestic producers who are struggling with high operating costs and shrinking cattle herds.
“Inspection Issues: Critics also point out logistical hurdles, including a recent recall of 30,000 pounds of imported Argentine beef for skipping required federal inspections.”
______________________________
The plan EP is writing about is apparently a different plan:
“President Donald Trump’s broader recent plan to temporarily lift tariffs on 300,000 metric tons of imported beef has not been officially cancelled, but the administration appears to have excluded Argentina from supplying this specific new quota.
“The 300,000-Ton Plan: President Trump announced a 90-day suspension of tariffs on up to 300,000 metric tons of imported ground beef trimmings to lower consumer prices.
“Exclusion of Argentina: While an earlier executive order in February 2026 increased Argentina’s specific annual duty-free quota to 80,000 metric tons, industry analysis and White House communications for the new 300,000-ton below-market initiative appear to leave Argentina out, aiming instead at other unspecified sources or trade adjustments.
“Current Status: The general tariff-relief initiative continues to face heavy pushback from U.S. cattle ranchers and lawmakers, but the policy itself remains active as the administration navigates domestic food costs.”
Hi AJC,
Milei is a Zionist even more so than Trump, if such a thing is possible.
Funny how Trump and all his tariff supporters claim they don’t raise prices on imported goods.
And yet here we are with Trump reducing tariffs to . . . Reduce prices.
You literally can’t make this shit. It also can’t successfully be explained to the majority of idiots that now surround us.
Pretty sure he’ll start blaming the US business world for not rebuilding 100 years of infrastructure in 18 months.
It all makes sense if you recall the old Reagan quip about how the government treats businesses:
– If it moves, tax it.
– If it continues moving, regulate it.
– If it stops moving, subsidize it!
This approach ensures that the government is ‘helping’ all sectors of the economy, while the ‘rich’ pay their ‘fair share’.
The Corporatism, Socialism and embedded Corruption in the US is beyond reversal. I’m investing my money into property in Mexico.
So far, we have plenty of other “affordable” animal protein. That can change, and probably will. The major cost of producing most anything is government intervention. Trump is the world champion at that. It’s gotten to the point that I feel ill every time I see his image. The “best” liar in history. Government is only good at one thing. Killing people. If they aren’t killing people, they are trying to figure out how kill more of them, and get more profit from it..
Hi John,
You may have heard of these efforts from the Bill Gates of the world to make lab grown or 3D printed “meat”, using the BS excuse that it’s “Good for the climate” compared to REAL MEAT. What are the odds that such frankenmeat will be “Fully approved” by the FDA, and deemed not “Safe and Effective!” but “Safe for human consumption!” despite no long term studies to determine whether frankenmeat truly IS “Safe for human consumption”.
“What are the odds that such frankenmeat will be “Fully approved” by the FDA.”
That’s a given.
Haven’t they just approved the ‘new’ version of the Covid quackcine, which allegedly ‘targets the latest version of the Chinese pox’ and is the safest and most effective yet?
Hundreds of millions of lives have thus been saved.
Just ask The Greatest Evah president!
Not only did the FDA approve a brand new COVID vaxx, they also recently approved an mRNA flu shot, which is said to have even more adverse side effects than a regular flu shot. You’d think that Big Pharma shills were running the FDA once again after decades of successive FDA commissioners being little more than Pharma shills.
‘Welcome to the Golden Age!’ — eric
GOR — it’s raining piss! Neocon scribbler ‘David Frum’ compares the orange-maned pigman to kleptomaniacal former dictators of the Philippines, Peru and Nigeria:
‘The Trump presidency has often looked more like a post-Soviet or postcolonial regime than like a first-world democracy. Trump has abused his office to enrich himself and his family in ways that are completely unprecedented—not only in the US but also in the history of almost any peer democracy.
‘Trump faces little danger of prison. But an ex-president remains subject to civil liability, and the proceeds of bribery, extortion, insider trading, and market manipulation may be exposed to civil penalties. Other countries have shown the way.
‘The message to Americlowns? The recovery of corrupt assets from fallen leaders is not hopeless, but it is difficult and risky. Most people believe that the Fujimori, Marcos, and Abacha families kept much—if not most—of their corruptly obtained wealth.’ — The Atlantic
https://archive.ph/38KFs#selection-931.0-931.447
America’s exuberantly corrupt MAGA clowngov is now reduced to Roman Empire-style panem et circenses dodges (e.g., ninety days of cheap mystery meat) to pacify its restless, starving helots. Get ready for chaotic scenes like this at Barf-a-Lago:
‘A mob famously burst into the private residence of Ferdinand Marcos at Malacañang Palace on the night of February 25, 1986. Only hours after Marcos and his family were airlifted out of the palace by U.S. military helicopters, thousands of celebratory and angry citizens breached the gates. Inside the residential quarters, the crowd discovered the family’s opulent lifestyle, most famously symbolized by First Lady Imelda Marcos’s massive collection of designer clothes and thousands of pairs of shoes.’
Burn it down.
Maybe a mob of MAGAs will invade the White House and strip all of Trumpenstein’s gold adornments off the walls to sell, only to discover that it’s fool’s gold 😆
Have you seen the Oval Office lately? It’s Marcos level tacky!
I have, Crowhouse –
It’s as vulgar and gauche as the mansion of a mafia don. Which of course is what Trump is.
Frum is scum but as a stopped clock is right twice a day he couldn’t be more right about his assessment of the Orange Douche.
I have been reading Hunter S. Thompson’s “Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail” from 1972 and politics today is just an uglier version of the same old shit. This quote was about Richard Nixon but it even more applies to Trumpenstein as while Nixon was a nasty piece of work he at least was capable of behaving himself in public:
“It is Nixon himself who represents that dark, venal and incurably violent side of the American character that almost every country in the world has learned to fear and despise. Our Barbie-doll president, with his Barbie-doll wife and his boxful of Barbie-doll children is also America’s answer to the monstrous Mr. Hyde. He speaks for the Werewolf in us; the bully, the predatory shyster who turns into something unspeakable, full of claws and bleeding string-warts on nights when the moon comes too close…“
A better description of the nightmare we are now living would be hard to find.
Later on, the good doctor Thompson extended his epic rant:
‘Money is cheap on the Gold Coast and there is a lot of it floating around. A 13-year-old boy recently found a million dollars’ worth of big, finely cut diamonds in a brown bag on the railroad tracks near Hollywood one day when he was cutting school and just hanging around by himself and kicking rocks like Huck Finn.
‘His aunt made him turn the loot in, but nobody claimed it, and his neighbors called him a fool. Which was true.
‘There is no place for Horatio Algers down here on the Gold Coast; hard work and clean living will get you a bag of potato chips and a weekend job scraping scum off the hull of
your neighbor’sDonald Trump Jr’s new cigarette boat.’https://www.rollingstone.com/feature/hunter-s-thompson-roxanne-pulitzer-divorce-90908/
Loot the looters.
“ Google changes US mapping from Lake Ontario to Trump’s proclaimed ‘Lake America’.”
I am really nearing a breaking point as this nightmare spins in new and more awful chapters. That a vile tech entity such Goolag deigns it acceptable to follow the edicts of herr Trumpenfuhrer and treat its US captives like idiot children and insult them with such 1984 style propaganda is just enough to destroy what is left about caring about this sorry excuse of a country.
“ Woke” is looking more and more like just another side of the same psyop to destroy all critical thinking.
Being ruled is rapidly leading to extinction. The automobile, developed by free-thinking men, was a boon to man and a great liberator, and now government has taken it away through incremental sabotage. Humans have eaten beef since day one. The rulers, who produce nothing and created nothing, and who acquired everything they have by seizing control of the government through corruption and blackmail, are now taking the natural earth away.
The time to do what Etienne De La Boetie said, and resolve to serve no more, has come. The warning light is now red and blinking.
They’ve tried for years to get Americans to stop eating beef to no avail. Now they’re succeeding via inflation. The problem is not enough people are screaming about it. Americans screamed when egg prices soared and, lo and behold, egg prices came back down. The PTBs get nervous when Americans show choler. Incidentally, the eggflation episode proved that the food price inflation we’re experiencing is entirely fake.
Yeah, the greens even said that eating a pound of beef caused more “greenhouse gas emissions” than driving your car for a year…Go figure.
All true. So you’re on your own but it has always been that way. Now’s the time for looking for marked down meats and canned foods. Neighbors moving out of state or to a nursing home? Maybe look at buying their freezer meats and pantry food. I suspect that in a few years people will be calling this the good old days. I remember being told to clean my plate as there was hungry kids in Africa the difference is that now there are more hungry kids here now.
As one internet prognosticator said years ago: “Today’s regular prices will be next year’s sales prices” and boy was he right.
Where’s the
BeefTurtle?‘It’s been at least 75 days since Senator Mitch McConnell has been seen in public. Yet on Thursday—despite McConnell supposedly being weeks into an intensive rehabilitation routine—his team blatantly refused to provide a progress report.’ — TNR
No turtle soup for you!
I also hear the choco ration is going up. Double-plus good!
How much you wanna bet that we start seeing Mad Cow Disease outbreaks from those “trimmings”?
If that happens, I foresee Bill Gates or one of those companies making lab grown or 3D printed “meat” pushing such frankenmeat as the answer to such outbreaks.
A future Democrat president may even say something like “You’re not gonna get Mad Cow Disease if you eat this new & improved meat!” Remember Joe Biden and others saying “You’re not gonna get COVID if you take that vaccine!” just a few years ago?
Ground beef has been $9-10/lb around here for a while. Been eating a of pork and venison. Thankfully early doe starts in two weeks because my freezer is getting low. The .30-06 is ready to rock!
