Is he just trolling us? That is, mocking us? Goading us? If so, why? Is he deliberately trying to demoralize the movement he once led by making it appear ridiculous? Or is he just a demented old man? You tell me: 
“Please raise your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States that loves us so much he can’t even breath, that I will go out with my family, my friends, I’ll do it anyway, I don’t care if I’m registered or not, I’m going to try and cheat like hell…I am going to go out and I’m going to get my friends and my family and we are going to vote on Nov. 3…So help me God.”
Trump said that at his “midterm convention” the other night.
He also said that if people vote for him – mark that – in about two months from now, he will reward them with a $5,000 check that is certain to always be in the mail.
What happened to Trump? Or was it nothing at all? The explanation that best fits the facts is that he has always been Trump – but some of us made the mistake of believing (of hoping) that Trump was what we believed/hope he wasn’t. It was a foolishly hopeful belief. People are what they are. What is Trump? More specifically, what isn’t he? 
Fundamentally – and that’s why it’s foundational toward understanding what didn’t go wrong – Trump is unprincipled. Like – frankly – most “conservatives.” I say this regretfully and without malice. It is simply a fact. Trump – and most “conservatives” – do not oppose in principle taking people’s money; their point-of-difference with “liberals” is what this stolen money is to be spent on. “Conservatives” want it spent on aircraft carriers, bombs and missiles. “Liberals” want it spent on programs that assuage the hurt feelings of “liberals.” Both favor spending it on “the schools.”
Neither support the quaint idea of leaving other people alone. Of “crime” being defined as having actually caused real harm to a real person (or their property) as opposed to affronting a rule laid down by the state.
The point is you can’t effectively argue for liberty when you don’t actually understand what it means. Or intelligently argue against taking people’s money if you support taking people’s money. You can’t argue against a police state, either, if you think a police state controlled by your side can be a good police state. It is also hard to argue intelligently against forcing anyone to take any drugs (they call these drugs “vaccines” now) if you think some are “beautiful.”
It only makes you look blinkered.
Trump is merely doing what he has always done, which is to serve his own interests – which is the only principle he hews to. Once this is understood, one can understand Trump.

You nailed it….Trump has always been this way. In my naiveté, I have often believed that my friends shared my principles…they do not. I still treasure such friends and family members but I do not respect their lack of principles. Trump is a more obvious version, like Biden, of the corruption inherent in desiring political power. Thanks for the succinct summary.
What made you believe that Trump would be any different than 99.8% of all the pols in Congress and the White House you people have kept voting into office?
Why I stopped voting. Period.
Electing people to run an immoral system is immoral.
What if they gave an election and no one voted?
Go and look at campaign promises, promised actions, and voting records of presidents and senators and reps prior to winning, and you will see maybe one or two actually didnt lie, or at least spent their political capital to try keeping their promises.
Only way to win is not play.
