A person close to me got stopped the other day by a law enforcer. Note that the sentence says nothing about anyone having caused harm or even threatened harm to anyone. Well, except for the law enforcer – who caused financial harm to the person he forced to stop (italics to emphasize the point) by handing her what they call a “ticket” – i.e., an extortion note requiring the handing-over of a sum of money (or else). Not because she had harmed anyone or done anything that could be intelligently be argued might lead to someone being harmed.
Her “crime”? Or – rather – her offense?
The word is italicized to mark an important distinction in that a “crime” was once-upon-time presumed to involve a victim whereas offenses are affronts committed against the authority of the government. These latter involve no victim and so aren’t crimes – yet they are treated exactly the same as if they were.
You are pursued – and forced to stop – by an armed agent of the state. You will be treated as if you’d done something wrong.
The offense committed in this case was driving past a law enforcer in a car that did not have the sticker – current state safety inspection – that the government says is required by law to display. The sticker, of course, does not establish that the vehicle it is affixed to is “safe.” Only that on the day the sticker was issued, the vehicle was in compliance with the various inspection points that determine whether the vehicle was in compliance – at the time of inspection.
For example, whether all four tires had a certain percentage of tread remaining. That the exhaust was not leaking. That the headlights and turn signals were working.
Note the past tense – and the italics.
First of all, the “at the time of inspection” thing. It does not mean the vehicle remains “safe” for the duration – i.e., the entirety of the year that will roll by before the time rolls around to get the next inspection.
A vehicle with tires that are 90 percent worn out will pass inspection because on the day of inspection, there was still enough tread remaining to pass inspection. But what about a month after that? The sticker’s still “good” – but the tires may no longer be. Same goes for such things as brakes. Headlights and turn signals burn out, too.
Yet the stickers says all is well. More finely that all is legal.
Sp much for “safety.”
This business of having a “good” sticker imparts both a false sense of “safety” and passivity on the part of the vehicle’s owner, who assumes the vehicle is “safe” because he sees his sticker is still “good.” He is relieved (or so he is encouraged to feel that he is) of any meaningful responsibility for making sure the vehicle is safe to drive on an ongoing basis, as by checking that his tires have good tread and that his brakes aren’t wearing thin himself, over the course of that year in-between inspections.
He feels “safe” – because the sticker says it is “safe.”
Then there is the case of the vehicle owner who does take care to assure his vehicle is safe to drive, by keeping track of such things as tire condition, brake wear and attending to other mechanical issues as they arise – but who didn’t bother (because it is a bother) to get his vehicle inspected. His vehicle is safe to drive – but because he (in this case, she) did not bother to get the vehicle inspected – a process that entails wasting a couple of hours, typically, arranging to have the vehicle inspected and then paying the inspector confirm what the vehicle’s owner already knows – he (or she, as in this case) is vulnerable to being hassled by a law enforcer.
All that seems to matter, in other words, is obedience. Mindless obedience. The most important kind.
The “safety” thing is mere drapery; window-dressing used to justify the harassment of people who’ve committed no crime, properly speaking, because they have not victimized anyone.
But who have affronted the authority of the state.
Such people then become the victims – of the state.
In the case at hand, the person who got “pulled over” – it sounds so benign and that’s on purpose – was handed that piece of paper which amounts to an extortion note demanding the handing over of money for the crime she did not commit. She is not a person who has a lot of money and even if she were, it would not alter the extortion made legal by this flim-flam of “offenses” against the authority of the state. But it does make it more execrable in that the $100-plus she will be forced to hand over as punishment for affronting the authority of the state amounts about a day’s pay for her. In other words, she must labor for a day to pay the state.
The man who pulled her over – like the overseers of old – was indifferent to the victimization he performed. The law is the law – and it is his job to enforce it.
No matter who gets harmed.
Even when no one has been harmed.

The safety inspection sticker is nothing more than a modern day *Stamp Act*. King George’s troops are trained and ready to inspect your private places to ensure compliance and tax paid to the crown. They can even write themselves their own search warrants to enforce the modern Stamp Act.
We as a people should be outraged not compliant.
Nevada pulled a shitty deal on me once back in the 70’s so I re-registered two of my three cars in another (and cheaper) State. I also used that same address (which was a Sales Tax Free State) when I purchased other vehicles. This saved me thousands of dollars over the years until I finally was able to move in the early 2000’s.
Aaah yes, I had a good friend who lived in Virginia. She explained the sticker stuff and how down right draconian the Commonwealth can be if you don’t have that sticker on your windshield. I often wondered if it was just one more way to extort money from taxpayers because, well, the state could.
As a resident of the Sunshine State in a very rural county, the sheriff and his deputies are the epitome of protectors of rights. I’ve never seen someone with a mechanical problem or a flat tire that a deputy or the sheriff himself wasn’t assisting them with it.
When my son had a seizure, I called the deputy sergeant whose over our part of the county and he raced over and escorted us to the hospital 35 miles away with his lights blazing the whole time. He did laugh later that his Tahoe had trouble keeping up with my Infiniti!
The sheriff’s office also know that if the poop hit the proverbial fan, their force would expand greatly. During Hurricane Michael and the aftermath, our sheriff deputized about half of the county’s males under 65 with concealed carry permits and we helped patrol the area to prevent looters.
We actually arrested a couple of outside agitators and caught them with a truck full of valuables. They gave us some zip cuffs and we had those “teens” from out of state trussed up and ready to be taken off to jail once a cruiser arrived.
Your mileage might vary, but in Florida and especially in the Panhandle, people take care of one another. The only way our sheriff’s deputies would pull you over if you’re going 30 mph or more over the speed limit or driving recklessly or drunk. We don’t have inspection stickers and I’ve never seen them pull someone who lives in the county over for an expired tag.
However, “outside agitators” coming through on their way to Spring Break on the Gulf will found our county most unwelcoming. They busted a car full of “teens” armed with enough small arms and ammunition to start a revolution in a Third World country. The stupid “teens” were riding around like Cheech and Chong and you could smell the odor of pot from outside their car.
But I agree with our host that most AGWs are on a power trip and need to have their power curtailed. They forget that they’re supposed to “protect and serve” like our sheriff did.
That’s nice to hear, Dr_Mantis_Tobbogan_MD. I find a Sheriff tends to be a bit more accommodating and responsive to the citizens over a municipal police department. After all, a Sheriff has to be concerned about getting re-elected every 4 years.
“ After all, a Sheriff has to be concerned about getting re-elected every 4 years “
Well, watch your State Legislature pulling a stunt like this. Not passed “yet” but this is the Lib mindset to rein in your independent Sheriff you elected. The State seems it’s their duty to decertify your Sheriff when they decide. What prompted this were Sheriffs not enforcing WA Covid rules. The next step I’ve heard of is to eliminate elected sheriffs state wide.
https://www.khq.com/news/washington-state-bill-deemed-unconstitutional-by-sheriffs/article_ea056f10-b4d7-11ee-9854-7b4420071002.html
The moron voters in King County WA actually voted to no longer vote for sheriff, instead now appointed by the county executive. This is what they ended up with via Chairman Dow:
https://komonews.com/news/local/king-county-executive-constantine-names-patti-cole-tindall-as-new-sheriff
Eliminate – should read eliminate election of sheriffs, appointed only.
Notice the first question from the 911 moron was asking what race the perp was? Notice the 911 operator was not just wanting to know who had the weapon but was trying to pull information from her wanting to know exactly where the gun was. When police arrived they weren’t interested about the perp accosting the victim only that she drop the gun. As a resident of this “Free” state of Florida declared by DeSantis one does not need a permit to carry.
The Po Po treated the women walking her dog,,, worse than the perp. Her civil rights, both federal and state were violated. Both ‘officers’ should have been fired and fined and incarcerated. The committee that determined the shooting was good should also have been fired and fined and incarcerated. The woman narrating the video wasn’t much better.
We live in a totalitarian state run by Jews. Orange MIGA turd works for the Jews, the law is whatever the Jews say it is.
Trump now says he agrees with Bibi Satanyahu on every issue. Trump agrees with that demon scum on every issue, thus we are fucked. Amerika elected an Israeli firster and now we shall pay the price for our foolishness.
Orange MIGA pig is rapidly bringing in a Jewish dictatorship to rule over the Goyim, he is a traitor and must be stopped. Israel is run by criminally insane lunatics, Zelenksy is another Jew lunatic who has destroyed Ukraine. Trump is not going to make Amerika great, he is fooling you, his job is to destroy the constitutional republic and erect a Talmudic system of total repression based on Jewish supremacy.
>Trump now says he agrees with Bibi Satanyahu on every issue.
That makes Mr. Trump a (so far) unindicted co-conspirator.
Trump is actually working with our enemies. For example Scott Bessent before his public “service” is openly gay and was a partner of George Soros now Treasury Sec. Yeah,,, the country is toast.
“You are pursued – and forced to stop – by an armed agent of the state. You will be treated as if you’d done something wrong.
The law is the law – and it is his job to enforce it.”
In America, for the most part, citizens are ruled by the 51%. Ultimately it is the 51% that elects the lawmakers. The lawmakers begot laws and hired enforcers. There are very few areas in the USSofA where people can pursue what ever pleasures that pop up in their heads. Most people are good ‘live and let live types’. There are predators out there. You’ve probably met some of them. They will take whatever they want and only a peacemaker can stop them. Fortunately most of us are asleep at 9:00 PM. The urban jungle is real. There the jungle laws rule.
That’s not at all true. American elections are won by about 30% of eligible voters. They do this by outvoting a shifting opposition of about 29%. The rest are smugly out of the system or refusing to vote because they’re saintly libertarian anarchists who correctly perceive a rigged system. But enough with chumming the waters…
America is ruled by about cabal of psychopathic criminals, amounting to less than 1% of the population, who control everything behind the scenes including both political parties and any third party which becomes a threat.
But observe their continuous lawfare, their propaganda and brainwashing, their attempts to neuter the entire bill of rights, especially the second and first amendments. The American people are the only thing they fear, and rightly so as we are quite capable of taking them down and giving them Justice.
(S) elections are meaningless distractions, meant to lull the ignorant into thinking that the (((government))), at all levels is operating for the benefit and good of the Citizens.
Nothing could be further from the truth, as the observational among us see, the (((government))) is controlled by the Khazarian Mafia for the benefit of Jews and their ilk, and we Goyims, of all stripes, are left to bear the burdens of taxation theft, of all sorts from vehicle inspections, to property tax, and sales tax, and taxes ad infinitum
We are, as Jefferson warned, debtor slave prisoners in our country, due to allowing Jews into the US, who have taken over our monies and our government.
“That’s not at all true. American elections are won by about 30% of eligible voters”
I realize that and should have prefaced with a remark as to the few percent of people that actually bother to vote. As an example in our last mayoral election only about 35%bothered to vote and consequently a communist was elected. He had the backing of the powerful teachers unions. Yes that one that’s brainwashing all the young ones. On a local level sometimes votes can mean a difference. I live in an area where the Communists/Socialists totally control the rules. The representatives are chosen for us. Itz a big country(population) and getting bigger all the time. Yes I know I should have moved out long ago as all my relatives have. The jungle is growing and moving out to the suburbs and out of state.
Don’t even need to be pulled over by an AGW if your sticker is expired here in Taxachusetts, the DMV Big Brother computer is tied into all the inspection stations and will notify the insurance mafia and send you an email reminding you to get it done pronto, otherwise your registration will be canceled.
I love visiting my cousins around Boston but the fact that they put up with the overwhelming tsunami of regulatory bullshit leads me to never discuss politics with them. Really good people fall for the very effective propaganda. It’s a shame that the area that gave us so much positive (and negative) early history has turned into such an intellectual cesspool.
Massive Two Shits is a lost cause.

‘A dozen states, including Arizona, are suing the Trump administration to stop its tariff policy, claiming it is unlawful and has brought chaos to the American economy.
‘The lawsuit says national trade policy is subject to Trump’s “whims rather than the sound exercise of lawful authority.” Officials are challenging Trump’s claim that he could arbitrarily impose tariffs based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
‘The Constitution assigns to Congress, not the President, the “power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises. The president can only invoke IEEPA when an emergency presents an “unusual and extraordinary threat” from abroad.
“President Trump’s insane tariff scheme is not only economically reckless – it is illegal,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said in a statement. “Arizona cannot afford President Trump’s massive tax increase. No matter what the White House claims, tariffs are a tax that will be passed on to Arizona consumers.” — AZfamily

This is the lawsuit that gelded ‘auto makers’ should have filed, but didn’t, since their orchiectomies left them docile as puppies.
So, bizarrely, it’s left to a symbolic thirteen states — including Commiefornia, in a separate suit — to defend the constitution and whinge about R-party tax hikes. Our world is turned upside down.
Truly, the Orange Emperor’s erratic rule-by-decree is indistinguishable from that of the Venezuelan dictator Maduro, who has driven millions into exile from his nightmarish chaos of hunger, poverty and jackbooted thugs.
With his suave new semaglutide physique, Bonnie Donnie really should follow Maduro’s sartorial lead and get himself a red-white-‘n-blue nylon tracksuit — accessorized with an ermine cape, befitting his majestic intellect.

American labor rates are out of touch with a very large portion of the world population. They will not go down in order to become more competitive on the world market. Prices will not go down just like labor rates will not go down. Deflation is the last thing that people with large amounts of money want. Look at what happened in the housing market almost 15 years ago or so.
Maybe a Biblical Jubilee will be the answer.
>follow Maduro’s sartorial lead and get himself a red-white-‘n-blue nylon tracksuit
Or, perhaps something more along the lines of President Camacho.

With the rumors of current Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem going to start enforcing that REAL ID scheme early next month, what are the odds that “law enforcement” officers will start going after drivers who don’t have REAL ID licenses? Just a few years ago, government was sicced on people who didn’t have their “COVID vaccination papers”. If the Trump 2.0 administration starts enforcing the REAL ID scheme after previous administrations delayed implementing it, I’m liable to start souring on President Trump. I’m already finding the Trump 2.0 administration to be a mixed bag, though if we had a President Kamala Harris now, she’d have likely been even MORE of a bag of $#!+ than Joe Biden was.
I can’t help but marvel at how much Ron Paul has been right about over the past 20 years or so, from the Patriot Act to these senseless wars to REAL ID.
No, but there is a possibility that non REAL id license holders will be singled out for different treatment than ones that “complied.”
Unfortunately, I “complied” a number of years ago because there was no option in Florida other than to get a real ID license.
Well, if you are caught following too close in Va. Beach causing a collision, or not having a license nor insurance or running a red light causing an accident, and the Va. Bch. police answer the call, don’t worry you will not be ticketed for anything. In fact, the Va. State Police may not even ticket you either or show up to the scene. From what I was told, most judges are letting violators go with no consequences and the AGWs in VA have to go to court on their own time which, of course, they don’t want to do.
Welfare for mechanics.
In 1990’s Pennsylvania IIRC the inspection fee was $36. But you never left the “Official State Inspection Station” for less than $200. Because of course inspector Javert would find something wrong.
Normally I’d just hold off on whatever was wrong with the vehicle until it was time for the inspection. That way there weren’t any “surprises” waiting. Luckily, Chevy’s disk brakes made it easy to find something every year…
Same here RK,
I always keep my vehicles in good condition but at inspection time I throw on a pair of old wiper blades so they can “find” that and not something more expensive.
It’s definitely welfare for mechanics/service stations; a few years ago there was a referendum to do away with annual inspections that went down in flames due to the service station lobby scaring all the clovers into thinking that without it everyone would be driving around with no brakes on bald tires.
People are gonna’ get mad at me for sayin’ this but – she deserves it!
If you choose to live in a state that requires “safety” inspections and you’ve consented to be harassed if you fail to comply.
It’s like choosing to live in a HOA and then complaining when they “fine” you for leaving your garage door open or whatever other piddly rules they choose to enact.
Stop complying. Leave Virginia which is arguably the most totalitarian state. If not the worst – it’s among the worst. The majority of states in Mericanistan don’t have safety or emissions inspections – nor should they!
Vote with your feet. Leave. Do not comply. This is the only sort of “voting” I believe in.
Easy? No!! But it is the only way to be free from VA’s draconian safety inspections.
Hi BID,
I think there’s a touch of blaming the victim in that. So she’s supposed to uproot her entire life to avoid being hassled over “safety inspection? Move to a state where there are other hassles just as bad or even worse?
Your point would be stronger if there were even one state that offered markedly more freedom than another. But I see no such thing. Do you?
Then you and your friend will continue to suffer until you recognize there are meaningful differences in freedom and liberty between the states.
Your normalcy bias has blinded you to how bad VA is.
As I stated, I know how painful and how expensive it is to uproot and move. Was forced to do this due to the Scamdemic.
If you chose to stay (for whatever reason) then you’ve chosen to consent to their crazy state inspections. Or you can vote harder and try to repeal their state inspection laws. Let me know how that works out.
I personally find it hilarious how easily people will meander down to the ol’ ballot box to steal other people’s stuff yet they won’t “vote” with their feet to actually improve their own lives.
I know this is coming off as me being a jerk or victim blaming. I’m tired of hearing about how the state is screwing people as if they have no other choice but to lay back and take it.
Democracy = gang rape in action.
Choosing to stay in VA is choosing to enjoy VA’s version of that rape. Just lay back and enjoy it they used to say!!
So, which state provides freedom in every aspect of life, and has no tradeoffs in the bad direction?
Your point would be stronger if there were even one state that offered markedly more freedom than another. But I see no such thing. Do you?
Here’s real data:
Taxes on 8 acres and house. $900/year.
No state safety inspection.
No state emissions inspection.
No county building inspection. No state building inspection. Homeowner retains the right to repair plumbing and electrical without having to hire it out. There is zero enforcement of state electrical and plumbing “permitting”.
How’s any of that compare to the tyranny you choose to live under in VA?
State?
We’re full! I hear North Dakota is nice.
I see you are!
North Dakota is nice, nice and cold.
Doesn’t stop South Africans from immigrating to North Dakota. They want to work, not be hassled.
Even Ukrainians move here to work the oil fields, better than getting shot at and hit.
Californians, Coloradans, Virginians, Minnesotans, Wisconsinites, Floridians, they’re all here too.
Plenty of Iowans moved to North Dakota to homestead after selling their farmland in Iowa.
The Old Red Trail is still there.
Every winter in North Dakota is a bad winter.
Every summer can’t be beat.
Even some Jews live here!
Burn It,
Never heard of the State of We’re Full. Missouri, perhaps?
I’m finished with being “inspected”, unless I should choose to employ an “inspector” for some reason. But not likely. I’ve always seethingly resented undue scrutiny.
Like Timmy “The Prison” Walz used to say: “Mind your own damn business!”.
I find Wyoming tolerable. It’s self limiting though, most people cannot make it here so there’s not much risk is telling you about it. It’s cold a lot, windy always. Cattle out number people and you will often have to defer to what the ranchers need. Taxes are low, the government kind of responsive. If you have neighbors the LEOs are more concerned that you have adequate backstop and don’t shoot too early or late at night, sensible things really. Always keep an extra tray of cartridges for the deputy to squeeze off a magazine or two.
Hi BID,
OK, sure. But I have no doubt there are countervailing laws that are as or more obnoxious wherever you are. I am not defending VA per se. Just pointing out that everywhere is bad in one way or another At least where I am there are no zoning laws and I can shoot in my backyard without triggering a SWAT raid. I can collect rainwater and do NOT have to get “emissions” inspection (in my county).
Same here for all your points above.
Is this place perfect? No. But you get what you choose to tolerate. Do you not agree this underlying principle is true?
Have I looked for places around the world that would offer more freedom and liberty than I can obtain here? Absolutely!! Have I found anything better than I can actually afford and would be willing to commit to? Not yet. But I’ll keep looking.
Can afford yes. Prince of Whales Alaska. The bees knees for all the things we complain about here. Can commit to, no. The curse of my desert blood makes it highly unlikely I could do well 8 months out of the year.
Morning, Norman!
Same issue for me. I loathe winter. No (or very little) riding for months and the TA just sits (in the garage) because of the salt on the road. I know, of course, that freedom isn’t free. But what sort of choice is it to self-exile to Siberia? I keep hoping a better option turns up.
Good morning Eric,
What a difference ten years makes. If I was a little younger I would give it a go.
Hi Norman,
I wouldn’t. I have only traveled to a small section of the world so I am not a world traveler by any means of the imagination, but these areas are not rings of freedom. Guess what happens if I accidentally leave a few gun cartridges in a suitcase in and arrive to Turks and Caicos? It involves a significant amount of jail time. Mind you, no gun, just a few cartridges.
The USSA is not a libertarian utopia, but it is the only country in the world that still allows us to protect ourselves. Name me another place that is going to allow me to house an AK-47.
In many places in the middle east and Africa, you can not only own an AK-47, but you can buy one for about $50 bucks. A nice Russian-made one.
Virginia DOES have the most ball-breaking government in the South. Maybe not as bad as NY or CA or MA, but for being the “cradle of the Confederacy” they sure do have plenty of government rules, regulations and taxes.
District of Criminals influence
Yes, they sadly have a severe Yankee infestation.
Having a union of states compete for your residence is the point the Founders were trying to achieve. Yes, you have to either do something to make your state better or move to one that better suits. Vehicle inspections are very unusual in states west of the Mississippi, if that’s important to you. All states require registration and licenses, though. So there’s some baseline grift you cannot escape, even here in Wyoming. Freedom is not always easy or convenient.
Was playing dumb blond out of the question? Unorganized, spacey, flustered, middle aged mom also works.
It doesn’t stop them from pulling you over, but it does get you out of a ticket.
My better half always rolls the tears and it usually works, with the exception of dickless Tracey’s.
Hi Nova,
A girl has to do what a girl has to do. I applaud Mrs. Savant on her acting ability. 🙂
Commander went right to the tears too. In her case it was real.
Last time getting pulled over she was driving the 71 Nova with the Hugger Orange GM paint. Cop probably thought it was some teenager rockin down the highway. Nope, just the tearful Commander with the daughter in her car seat.
Eric – Texas!
We have no auto inspections in counties outside the major cities. Our speed limits are 75 on most interstates, 65 on urban routs and 60 downtown. Our two lanes are 75, 70 and 65 depending on the county and the road design. Our 4 lanes are 75. On limited stretches of I10 and I20 and the 130 toll road, you can do 80. There’s even a stretch of road where you can hit 85 legally.
Texas is one of the most pro motorist states in the country.
The second one in my opinion is Oklahoma. There is a law there that says that you can travel 10 over the limit and get no points. Just a fine. That really helps in the low speed limit zones. In the higher ones, it’s still pretty good. In the 80 mph turnpike zones, that’s 90 without getting any attention from officer friendly.
The best way to limit exposure to officer friendly is to raise speed limits as those are the most frequent tickets. They usually account for 50 to 70 percent of citations issued.
With higher speed limits, they have a much smaller pool of motorists to get.
Virginia is awful. Even worse than North Carolina, where I used to live. You can get a reasonable deal in court there, but not all the time.
In Texas, you get drivers school every year. (I helped push that legislation during the 55/65 days) to get a ticket removed. The only caveat to Texas is if you go over 100 mph, you’re toast. It’s reckless and a ticket, though I’m pretty sure your lawyer can plead it down.
As long as I’m in the country, I’m going to be either in Texas or Oklahoma. No where else.
I’m surprised counties not in the DC / Richmond / Newport News corridor haven’t made an effort to join up with West Virginia. Kinda like the non-Chicago / Springfield counties in Illinois have made waves about joining up with Indiana.
Like Calipornia. People escaped to states nearby. Now those states are Calipornia on steroids.
Yeah, BID. I agree. If a woman’s husband becomes abusive and she doesn’t leave him, she deserves the next beating!
Come on bro. The smart thing for sure is leave the marriage, but there may be reasons why it’s not feasible like lack of money, kids, etc. That doesn’t cause her to deserve the next beating. Same thing goes for that woman being in VA. Maybe she was born there (which is very different from voluntarily buying a home in an HOA). Maybe all of her family and friends live there and she doesn’t want to start life from scratch again. Maybe she actually likes her home and community. Maybe she doesn’t have the financial wherewithal to up and move.
Rationalization is a powerful resistance to changing your situation. You or the hypothetical woman in your analogy do not -deserve- to be abused. But if accepting the situational reality of being party in an abusive relationship causes you to think of reasons not to do something about it then, yes, you do share in the responsibility. The world is not required to submit to your views. Saying that it’s up to your community or state to change for you is no different logically from the argument that is used to require airbags or speed limits for your safety. It’s externalizing the problems. Since we’re talking hypotheticals, imagine if accepting the abuse because the effort to change seems daunting to the pilgrims who crossed without any guarantees or founding generation who stuck a thumb in the Crown’s eye or the settlers busting impossibly hard sod on the plains. There would be no America (at least the idea of it) without the will to say “Fuck this noise.” and do something about it. Being meek doesn’t work. You cannot appease your abuser into submission.
“Yeah, BID. I agree. If a woman’s husband becomes abusive and she doesn’t leave him, she deserves the next beating! “
So exactly what is the solution you’re proposing?
‘Rape-aXe: A woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon. Jagged rows of teeth-like hooks line its inside and attach on a man’s penis during penetration. Once it lodges, only a doctor can remove it.
“It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it’s on,” she said. “If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter. However, it doesn’t break the skin, and there’s no danger of fluid exposure.” — CNN

When your pecker gets bit, nothing else matters.
It’s a porcupine condom!
Another form of sexual assault, with malicious intent. A sex crime.
A philandering husband could be a cause for the behavior.
Two black eyes and two missing front teeth will make her think twice.
She’ll be seeing a doctor and a dentist both.
Her dancing days will be over.
Women have to abide by the non-aggression principle, too, by golly.
Do no harm.
I don’t think I offered a solution and I’m not sure if I have one or if there is one. My sole point was to make it clear that in no way does the VA women deserve the abuse because she lives there.
You’re playing a game of semantics.
Deserve
Tolerate
Consent
Agree
Pick whichever word is agreeable to you.
The point remains; choices have consequences.
Yup, just like the battered wife. She “tolerates” it; therefore she consents to it, agrees to it and, lastly, deserves it.
A bit callous don’t you think?
I suspect I’m not the one playing games of semantics here.
No it isn’t callous to acknowledge the reality that choices have consequences.
You can deny reality as much as you want but it doesn’t change the situation.
The “when did you stop beating your wife?” question just isn’t cutting it.
Offer a real solution.
By your own post, regarding the murdered woman, you don’t advise calling the police. The reality is that the police are powerless to stop the abuse permanently. Sure they can jail the abuser for a while but you know the reality of the system is that the abuser will eventually be released.
Either she leaves or she keeps getting hit. It’s not a matter of deserving it, tolerating it, or whatever you want to call it.
I stand by my statement; choices have consequences.
BID: There’s no murdered woman in my example. She’s just been beaten. Also, the question of “When did you stop beating your wife?” is an example of a presupposition of incriminating facts against the person who is intended to answer the question. That’s not present here, so I’m not sure how it’s relevant to the discussion.
I do appreciate some of your incite on this forum, so I don’t want to keep going back and forth with an I’m Right! – You’re Wrong! volley of opinions. Arguing over whose opinion is right is usually a fruitless exercise.
At this point I’m out.
Fair enough
With respect to the video – I have been corrected.
I didn’t watch until the end because these videos greatly disturb me and they usually end with some undeserving citizen / victim of an AGW dead.
‘ Leave Virginia which is arguably the most totalitarian state.’ — Burn It Down
New Jersey resents this inflated claim.
It spent decades perfecting its tax-hell leftist panopticon — and doesn’t even get a nod from you. :angry-face:
LOL
You mean the New Yorkers and Pennsylvanians who moved to New Jersey spent decades perfecting its tax-hell leftist panopticon.
Which leads to John’s point below.
That said, BID’s point has some merit.
Burn it Down,
Remember when New Zealand was somewhat of a libertarian mecca? Now, not so much. Wherever you may intend to escape to can easily, and at times quickly, become worse than what you “escaped” from.
Yeah – I even went there once – early 2000 ish.
Your point is well taken. I could not be paid enough to visit New Zealand or Australia now.
This further makes the case that none of us should become so complacent in normalcy bias that we can’t see that sometimes it is necessary to pick up and go somewhere else.
The scariest part of 2020/21 that I have yet to come to terms with is how so much of the world was literally locked down and how limited the options to go somewhere else became.
Truly a nightmare
For that matter, Pahrump NV had…HAD…a reputation as a Libertarian haven, thanks in no small part to the late Art Bell with his overnight “Coast to Coast” radio program coming from “The Kingdom of Nye” (County). Well, since the heyday of Mr Bell’s program, Pahrump has quadrupled in population, and the “pigs” are EVERYWHERE, looking to anxious write every chickenshit citation.
The is coming when this will end…and it won’t be pretty…

And that doesn’t include the cash taken from people such as your friend.
If there was ever a parasite that needed elimination, GovCo is it.
You aren’t happy to give what you have to your overlords?
They have needs.
You have to pay your tribute.
ARMED GOVERNMENT WORKER UPDATE:
AGW shoots female veteran and her service dog. Her crime? Legally carrying concealed and having a dog which defended her.

That son of a bitch.
God-damn him – and pardon my language. I need to walk away for a minute .
Yeesh, that Centurion was a frikin’ cowardly flat-out moron.
…Shows, who owns, who. Fo, shoa. though.
He’s gonna get some distress pay.
Here’s some more victim blaming.
Never, never ever, call the cops.
They are never your friend. They have no obligation to help you or to protect you. They can legally lie to you. They can literally kill you and face no consequences for their actions.
Some people still don’t understand this.
This poor lady paid the ultimate price for her foolishness.
Sad.
Now this I can agree with. Cops never help. They always cause harm. Never, ever call them!
Her husband is not going to be very happy for a while.
In fact, her husband might be wanting revenge.
With a little planning and surreptitious use of words, the killer can be driven insane.
It’ll be better than killing the killer, slowly causing insanity in his obviously deranged brain already can be a goal.
Nobody should be shooting from the hip, esp. an officer that is there to help, not hurt, and then get away with it. I think the killer was jonesin’ to shoot somebody, not really a wise decision.
The killer was not there to help, but to intervene and make a scene.
There are other avenues to accomplish even more.
Drive the killer insane, the killer’s brain will be dead before the body.
More than one way to skin a cat.
They need to stop giving badges and guns to pussies. Also, that stupid board consisting of all cops was an absolute sham. They asked that craven cop all sorts of leading questions which were intended to get him out of any discipline.
Agree with all of that, Mr. Liberty.
When can anyone else clear themselves of ‘wrong-doing’ with an ‘internal investigation’? The idea is laughable in any other context.
What a chickenshit bastard! That dog took being shot like a champ, though. I’m glad he lived.
This is what happens when you call the cops.
If we must have cops, could someone please stop hiring ‘roid-addled imbeciles?!
If you’re going to be a peace officer, your first duty is to be peaceful until you can no longer do so. You must be cooler, calmer and sharper than your average person. You should respect the lives of others above your own, but have advanced skills in self-defense that don’t necessarily include offense. This is the only way to do such a job properly. Nervous, jumpy maniacs need not apply.
And still nothings been done about Ashli Babbit.
