The government “shutdown” is a show, of course – because the government hasn’t actually shut down. All that’s happened, mainly, is a show of some recipients of government checks not receiving them. The money that finances these checks continues to be collected (via taxes) or created ex nihilo – via the “Fed,” that entity that the banking cartel created to run the government.
People who work outside the government – who earn rather than take their living – cannot tell that the government has “shut down” because they are still having to pay the taxes that the government redistributes to those who take rather than earn their living; they are still having to comply with the laws and regulations imposed by the government. If the government had truly shut down, they would be free to do business – and to keep the earnings (all of them) generated by their labor.
All the “shut down” means to honest people is that the government bureaucracies they are forced to interact with may be closed for now – increasing the hassle for them in terms of securing the various required permissions and so forth. Maybe the access points to the parks and so on that the government (rather than the “public”) owns are closed. This latter being a way to punish people who earn their living by denying them something the government forces them to finance even while it is closed to them.
The old wig-wearing white guys who conjured the Constitution had this idea that the federal government would be – effectively – shut down for months out of every year via Congress only being in session for some of the year. Politics wasn’t supposed to be full-time, as employment. The idea was that people who earned their living would take a break from that and serve for short periods in office – then return to making an honest living – not “serve” for life. The federal government was supposed to be, in its original conception, a remote and almost abstract thing that involved itself almost not at all in the daily lives of the people. It was supposed to be constitutionally limited to such things as dealing with other countries as the agent of the states.
Except, of course, it wasn’t really and that was on purpose. Alexander Hamilton was a lot of things but stupid he wasn’t. Nor the other wig-wearing white guys who got together in secret and without any mandate from “the people” to replace the Articles of Confederation that did nicely limit the lawful power of the federal entity. Most of these wig-wearing white guys were lawyers and so conversant in the art of legalism – a form of secular Talmudism that relies upon the clever parsing of words to get around the plain meaning of words.
More finely, the intent implicit in the plain meaning of words.
A fine example of this parsing can be seen at every random roadside DWI checkpoint. The Talmudists of the Supreme Court have “ruled” that the Fourth Amendment – which very clearly states that “the people” are to be protected against unreasonable searches and seizures may indeed be subjected to them. It depends on the meaning of “unreasonable,” you see.
Another example – the one that really got us to where we are, with the federal government’s finger in every piece of every pie – is general welfare. Who gets to decide what that means? Why, the government of course! And what do you suppose it will decide is in the interests of the “general welfare”? Well, just have a look at your next quarterly tax form or the other forms of officialized mulcting you are obliged by law to submit to. The really ingenious thing about this Talmudism is that the average person, in his innocence, hears words such as “general welfare” – and “reasonable” – and takes them at face value.
Of course he supports reasonable things; what reasonable person would not? Doesn’t everyone agree that the general welfare must be agreed upon?
The thing is masterful, ingenious. Devilish. Like the Talmud, itself. It is likely the one inspired the other.
Most do not see this. They can’t even see that the “shutdown” is just another show. A thing meant to distract and baffle them. To keep them preoccupied and agitated and thus unable to see the thing for what it is – and is not.

I don’t know if anyone’s looked into this, but when the COTUS was written in Philly in 1787, WHY didn’t the states push for unanimity for ratification? IIRC, the AoC required unanimity among the states to ratify any changes or amendments. What was the present COTUS, but a massive change to the AoC? Wasn’t that the reason for convening original ConCon in the first place? Why wasn’t unanimity insisted upon when it came time to ratify the COTUS? Had unanimity been insisted on, we’d still have the AoC rather than the COTUS.
As far as I know, the AoC was never repealed.

I am sick and tired of my tax money going to support Israeli genocide and economy when they have free universal health care and college education while US has $37 trillion debt. In my businesses, I have dealt with people of all stripes. I have provided a competent and reliable technical service at a fair price which is beneficial for all.
I have had many repeat customers, not having to advertise except by “word-of-mouth”. My reputation is valuable and is a part of my ethics–providing an honest service at a fair price.
I have dealt with many middle easterners, where “haggling” is a part of doing business. I have no problem with “haggling”, understanding that in middle eastern and even in other cultures, bargaining on price is “the way things are done” and I respect that.
I have never had a problem with Muslim customers. Yes, “haggling” does go on, but when I explain the reasons for the pricing of my services, they accept the agreed-upon costs.
I have NEVER had a good experience in my business dealing with jews.
Yes, they “haggle” which is to be expected, but they also are aggressive in their demands for a lower price, no matter how reasonable the cost.
Not only that, they do not pay their bills either on time, or the agreed-upon amount. The times that I have accepted business from a jew, they either don’t pay at all, late pay or pay a lesser than the agreed-upon amount. Attaching a lien to the property is one of the only ways to assure that a jew will pay his bill.
I learned my “lesson” many decades ago and will not deal with jews without demanding full payment “up front”.
In fact, I prefer not to deal with jews at all. The hassle and aggravation is just not worth it.

I find the honesty refreshing and I like the direction. Kill the income tax and replace it with tariffs. The feral government has been entirely out of constitutional control for many decades, so an honest executive power grab which aligns with the interests of the decent people of this benighted land is, on balance, positive. I had hoped it would happen 30 years ago, it’s too late for me, but my kids might yet have a future.

I am completely in favor of replacing the income tax with tariffs which are a tax on consumption on foreign produced goods.
The problem I have with Trump is that while he purports to do this, he is also eroding the credibility of the notion of self reliance by making them so prominent that the public associates them with product shortages and inflation, no matter how real that is.
The other problem I have with Trump is his building a surveillance police state in front of our eyes, militarizing immigration enforecement and parading the guard every time a convenience store is robbed.

A referendum of sorts on Trump’s performance/popularity is coming up – the governorship of my state, Virginia. If the loathsome Abigail Spannberger is elected (especially if it’s a blowout for her) then it’s a sure clue MAGA’s dick has gone limp. We shall soon see.
Yes, the same here in NJ. Both candidates are swamp creatures. One Federal level and the other State. The Republican is polling better than expected but only because the Dems have run the state for quite some time now. It’s been a rough couple years here with rising property taxes and utility bills. I’m not sure just screaming about Trump is enough for them to win so easily this time. Of course, the money is still on the horrible Democrat Congresswoman to win.
