A Question for Everyone

I have been discussing an idea with my computer guy and wanted to ask everyone what they think – and whether you guys think it’s worth it. The idea is basically this: To create an open/long form area on the main page – something functionally similar to Xcrement, but without the Bots or the algorithm. A literally free speech zone (no charge to post, no charge to get “reach”) that would let you and anyone else who wants to say something about whatever you want to say, say it without it having to be tied to any of the site’s columns.

You’d be the conversation starter, in other words.

Now, while this would free for all once it’s up (if we do this) it’s not free to set it up. My computer guy is quoting me about $500 to do this. Hence this post. I know it’s tight out there. It is for me also. I really want to do this (assuming you guys want me to do it) but I can’t afford to do it at the moment. If enough of you think it’s worth doing it – and want to chip in – we’ll do it. No pressure; it’s just an offer – and an ask. I’d like to make this site more fun and impactful. But since I’m not Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck, it’s harder for me to do that without your help.

What do you think? Is it worth trying?

If you want to chip in, please note you’re chipping on any donations sent in via PayPal or via the mail. I will update everyone here as far as the response I get and the progress we’re making!

Thanks as always to all of you –

Eric

  1. Eric there is one thing you could do for no cost to make your site an easier read – no right column. The main page still has the right column, but not after opening the essay on it’s own page.

when we click on one of your essays, read and comment, the entire right column is not there so that the commenting banter threads don’t get real skinny and unreadable.

  2. Here is my latest comment on the Unz review, the first graphic will stun your mind, China is completely ignoring Net Zero, lol

    https://www.unz.com/article/the-climate-co2-hoax/#comment-7720924

it is one of the most informative comments you can read today on the entire web, it has excellent graphics, stunning commentary, stinging rhetoric, sharp criticism of the media actors who are paraded in our faces to tell us bald faced lies.

If you want top comments you must have a site that allows to be able to post long replies with excellent graphics, without ever smaller columns.

IMO copy what works best, tell your programmer you want a mimic of the your favorite site

  3. Sounds good to me….perhaps some sort of titled hangout like Eric’s Erudite E-Rascals…..but let me gather some shekels and I’ll send you a check…

  4. Eric – I have no idea what you are planning, but I would think it out real good before committing. Most forums suck. Standard forum formats suck. As you’ve noticed, conspiracy forums is where I notify others of the location of my essays. I want people who think to read my stuff. I believe I put out excellent content, some of the best graphics on the web. (but I stand in awe of the late David Dees and self-banned Smoloko)

Eric, I will tell you who has the best forum on the entire internet. Substack is excellent but there is one even better, Lew Rockwell is boring. The Unz Review stands alone. Study the layout of TUR. I recommend you create a handle and post comments there.

In the last week I made 5 graphic loaded comments on a headlined article on the climate change hoax. Unz got my intense patriot effort because they allow me to post memes and graphics. For your site to be competitive, you must allow graphics especially when discussing global warming hoax.

Total anonymous posting, only need a fake name and fake email to post, but must use same email each time

Unlike EPA, Unz allows you to post graphics, gifs, videos

TUR allows you to criticize the Jews, and Ron Unz is a Jew

TUR search engine is better than average, there is so much good information posted there anyone doing conspiracy research will soon be reading comments for links, hard to find books, etc.

Each night around 9pm PST, two new articles are selected for the top of the page. This high turn over keeps the site interesting, commenters must keep their asses in gear to keep up

The articles on Unz are the best of the web. Top authors, top topics, top thinkers, most informative content. Who else you gonna read tonight? Unz puts the rest of the web to shame. So does your site, but to a lesser extent.

Everyday I scour the web for new exciting content, the best conspiracy research, the consistent truth tellers. Most stuff is completely biased, outright Zio-propaganda, now Ai generated shit, it just boggles the mind. The web is 99% stupid shit.

If you want the best readers and the best commenters you need a winning formula. How to get there. Find the top libertarian sites, mimic successful ones. What is the best layout – hell if I know.

  5. It’s unclear to me exactly how the implementation would work. Any visitor can create a new post that is visible and linked on the main page? If so, your normal content might get buried.

Or an open post in which users are free to comment on any topic they wish? More manageable, all though even then you might wish to establish basic rules and a white list base of permissible commenters. JMG does something like this, a monthly open post.
    https://ecosophia.net/july-2026-open-post

I’d like to see a like/dislike option for posts and comments and an expanded list of recent comments as suggested above.

Re appealing to young people: go online to Tik-tok, Xcrement, etc. and take a good look at what young people are talking about. What apps are they using? What are they bitching about? What do they like? How do they engage with each other? It’s a pretty fractured world out there, and those kids have grown up with vastly differing assumptions about the world than boomers and genZ, affected by influences that didn’t exist in the nineties or even the oughts.

  6. Hi Eric,

I’m in, and will be mailing a check. Have you considered getting an account on Substack? It would help limit the trolls as others here are concerned about and also let you monetize your work.

    • Hi Mike,

Yes – in re Substack – I have thought about it. But I haven’t done it because it would duplicate what I do here; plus, I would not have control over it. At least here, Ah Ahhhhm the Decider!

  7. Eric,

If you want to experiment with an alternative to…social media…then I am all for it.

I have been reading your content for a while, without donating.

I will fund half of what you need, was it $500 total? Will be interested in seeing how your foray into modernizing and attracting fresh eyes turns out.

Mailing a check, dropping in the mail today.

  8. Simply making the Recent Comments notification section a lot deeper — say, by adding a scroll function and maybe even a paging function to it — would ensure that readers wouldn’t miss so many interesting comments. As it is, only the last 8 to 16 comments are listed, so during heavy traffic commenting a recent comment disappears pretty quickly. Also, time and date stamping each notification would help readers know if they’ve already read a particular comment.

This approach would keep the commenting more article-based, which I like. (As always, if a reader is just burning to say something off-topic, that would still be possible.) And this approach wouldn’t preclude or even frustrate implementing your proposed open/long form area thing in the future if desired.

  9. I think it would just be shitposting bots pushed straight into my brain before even reading / parsing articles. IF I understand you correctly it’d be like the live comments on a youtube livestream.

    Please Dont’!

  10. Any good forum has to address the real politic of today, which is highly dangerous because the POTUS is a Zionist agent selling us out and all truth is anti-semitic. The reason why everything is a damn lie is because Jews control the media – free speech for Jews and none for anyone else unless you lick their a-holes on your knees.

Elon Musk got in trouble when he bought Twitter. In order to save X he had to go to Israel and kiss ass, wear a kippah, and even parrot the official state line that Palestinians were terrorists getting what they deserved. He literally had to sell his soul to the devils.

“Elon Musk visited Israel in November 2023 primarily to perform damage control after facing widespread condemnation for endorsing an antisemitic post on his platform, X (formerly Twitter).”

Of course I approve what Eric wants to do, but it is extremely dangerous for him personally. But Eric is a genius. Proceed with caution and wisdom. You’ll be walking a narrow line between truth vs. power. What’s your plan if the Rabbi makes you an offer you can’t refuse? Remember CK? Your life means nothing to this evil Talmudic ruthless enemy of mankind.

Listen to the first caller Peter who lays it on the line. What he talks about is what we need to talk about

I tried posting this image on Unz last night, it didn’t load, just shows you the level of control they have:

  11. I’ll donate to the cause. I’m all for an alternative to Xcrement, especially as your site is the only one I use these days for making any kind of online comments. My only suggestion is that for this to work — that is, better than your current open forum section which (as someone already mentioned) is rarely trafficked — it needs to be put on your web site front and center. The previous forum section you had was hard to find. Also, it needs to be heavily promoted. If done properly, I think it could catch on.

  12. I had inquired about an open thread months ago. Not sure why you need anything new. I do know one thing, if you start an open forum with free speech the Jews will try to shut it down. They want all speech controlled. Free speech for Jews and everyone else can shut the fuck up – and they are willing to kill to maintain their monopoly.

You mentioned David Icke in a recent article. I had a history with trying to post anti-Jew comments on his forum, got immediately shot down by David himself. Never returned. I can still log in using my old Phishna handle.

Eric, I will say this as a warning. Back 10 years ago or so I had over 50 blog rolls, I wrote thousands of posts per year – about the same volume you put out now. I was using wordpress, then one day, the same day Alex Jones got into trouble, all my blogs were disappeared, no warning, no way to communicate with wordpress – I was locked out, deleted, with no explanation. Many of those blogs were inactive, no posts within a year. Gone. Just like that, deleted by the powers that be, that shouldn’t be.

Here is an example, some reddit user had reposted one of my posts from one of my blogs:

    • Thanks, BaDnOn!

I’ve been brain-sweating a lot lately, trying to figure out how to make the site more attractive to more people – especially the younger crowd. Us pre-Internet people prefer (generally) the long-form, whether it’s print or online. It seems the under 30s really like the less-structured back-and-forth of social media. I’ve railed against social media – especially Xcrement and Facebook – because of their sinister algorithms and opacity. We’ll have none of that here, if this flies. Just real people really posting. I think it could be fun!

      • Hey Eric,

Your site has already served as “social media” for me for years now. I exited the social media scope over a decade ago, not only due to the nascent algorithms at that time, but because it was all so inane. Nobody seemed to really want to discuss current events or ideas, and they seemed to bristle at me for wanting to do so.

Here, there are people with insight and experience in many facets of life. Here you can learn something. I do all the time.

But you are correct. We do need some new blood here. This needs to be part of a campaign to make freedom “cool” again. Sadly, most people here are Gen-X or older, 50+ years old. That’s not me besmirching Gen-X, by the way. To me, Gen-X is actually the most righteous generation; the most free-thinking, the most fun, progenitors of some of the best music, etc.

But if we want the world to not further descend into an authoritarian hellscape, we need to younger generations on-board. Now, I’m not sure that this social media idea will do the trick, but you never know! It might just take off like an Iranian drone barrage.

        • Morning, BaDanOn –

Yep! That’s a big part of the reason why I think this could be a really good thing. Bridging the generation gap is hugely important. GenX is the last generation that remembers the Before Time but aren’t yet old timers. I’m not disparaging the older generation. Just making the argument that GenX may still be young enough to connect with GenZ. Not as peers, of course. But maybe as interesting Uncles.

  13. How would this be different from the current “Forum” section that get’s almost no interaction? I am curious and intrigued, and will definitely throw in a contribution.

    • Hi Philo,

It would be part of what you see on the man itself; i.e., not a separate site (effectively). My computer guy gave me a rundown after I asked him about it and specifically, about a way for people to have a free-for-all area on the main site without any need to log-in that would not be tied into any particular article. I’m basically wanting to create something like Xcrement without the excrement!

  14. I spend too much time here already as melbr00ks above says.

But you still need to monetize it better, if you can set up a membership which anyone can join but which charges something apparently small like .01/100 words with a bill going out after $5.oo is reached, it would curtail some of the cut and paste ramblings and making commenters put a little bit of their money where their mouth is might be a good thing.

No matter what you do you need to manage your site- that has cost and value.

  15. Hey, Eric,
Ask yourself if you really want to moderate an open forum.
If you are set on doing this, I suggest you consider making it a private club, members only, with dues. A sort of online speakeasy, if you will. “Eric’s Place,” perhqps.
    That would:
    1. Help defray expenses
    2. Tend to keep out the riffraff.
Not saying I *would* join, but I might.
Depends on the dues, as well as the company, I suppose.

From my own experience (many years ago),
    Autodesk:
    https://www.autodesk.com
ran a group of online forums for software users to assist each other, share tips, ideas, etc.
They had one section called “Take 5,” which was intended as an online “lounge” for users of the other forums. Early on, it worked well, becuase it was frequented by legitimate software users, who posted on the technical forums.

However, in the long run, “Take 5” became infested with assorted trolls who were not legit users of ACAD, but had their own agendas. The burden on the moderator, Anne Brown, became excessive, and Autodesk was forced to shut it down.

    Just my experience, FWIW.

  16. My assumption is, that this new forum will be in addition to separate comments on particular articles, as has been the case.

    Correct?

    • Hi Martin,

The idea is to have it as part of/integrated with the main page; a kind of scrolling format, similar to Xcrement – just without the bot and algorithms!

  17. I say it ain’t broke so there’s nothing to fix here. The comments section works well and because it’s associated with your article topic, it keeps us somewhat on point. Just having an open forum would be too chaotic.
