Do you remember the character Wimpy from the old – the original, black-and-white era – Popeye cartoons? His signature wheedle was to offer to “gladly” pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. Something like that. The point being Wimpy was cheesy. A lovable scammer.
Is Trump lovable? Apparently he is to a lot of people – who are (so it seems) willing to apologize for or simply ignore everything he doesn’t do that he promised to do while at the same time dismissing things he has done that he never promised he’d do when was running for president – such as push for a federal ID card (the so-called “REAL” ID). Had he promised to push a REAL ID on us, it is likely many of us (me among them) would not have voted for him. I voted for less rather than more authoritarian government. How about you?
Back to Wimpy.
Trump – like Wimpy – made a promise when he was running that the creepy people who were clients of the even creepier Jeffrey Epstein would be brought to justice, as by revealing who exactly they were and – if the facts supported it – charged and prosecuted for what they were involved in, which was apparently the sex trafficking and abuse of underage girls by old men. Many of these men being powerful, rich and well-connected men. This almost certainly explains why there is “no timeline” as regards public disclosure of who – exactly – was on Epstein’s infamous list of clients, as was announced the other day by the president’s PR woman.
This does not necessarily mean the names will never be disclosed. Nor that there will never be arrests and prosecutions. Just as it was always possible that Wimpy would pay you Tuesday for the hamburger he got you to pay for today.
But do you think Wimpy will ever pay for that hamburger you bought him today? Of course not. That was the gag. Everyone knew Wimpy was a scammer.
Of course, back when those old Popeye cartoons were playing, Americans were less gullible. Less political. Most understood that politicians – all of them – were like Wimpy in that whatever they promised they’d do was something very different than what they’d actually do.
What’s different today is that many Americans want desperately to believe in the promises made by politicians. Especially Americans who voted for Trump, despite the fact that he has failed to do what he promised he would do – and in spite of the uneasy fact that he is doing things he never promised he’d do or even suggested he was interested in doing, such as hard-pushing a federal ID on the American people.
The Epstein thing is of course just one thing. But it is an important thing. So also this pushing of the REAL ID. And the recent pushing for the criminalization of questioning anything the state of Israel’s leadership does as “anti-Semitic” and subject to 20 years in federal prison. The president did not directly push for that but his party did and to believe he did not support the pushing given he voiced no opposition to the pushing is to believe that Wimpy really does plan to pay you back on Tuesday for that hamburger you bought him today.

‘Republicans are looking to regroup on President Trump’s agenda, which one GOP lawmaker says is becoming a “train wreck.”
‘Senate Republicans met at the Library of Congress on Wednesday to plot a path forward on the stalled budget reconciliation bill amid growing tensions between conservatives and moderates.
Speaker Mike Johnson’s goal of getting “one big, beautiful bill” to Trump’s desk by Memorial Day won’t be met, and now there’s a danger that negotiations of the tax bill will slip past July 4, the target date set last week by Treasury Department Secretary Scott Bessent.
“We are keeping very close tabs on it,” a Republican senator said of the negotiations in the House, adding that the two chambers are heading in separate directions. “Sooner or later we have to pass the same thing, and I’m worried that this is potentially a train wreck. We can’t really get on the same page.” — thehill dot com, May 8

This article reminded me of why I like hamburgers. I usually use a deli type bun lightly toasted. I put a large slice of tomato and many, many pieces of iceberg or romaine lettuce on top. Extra sharp Cheddar cheese adds to the flavor. Rumour has it that hamburgers are Trump’s favorite quick meal. I also recall that old man Clinton was a fan of hamburgers. Clinton also liked to do interviews in the Oval Office with young ladies. These are some busy times for our chief executives.
And, they share more than just a fondness for hamburgers: A 12yr. old girl in 2012 shows off the family genealogy tree of every President & how (except for Van Buren, & perhaps Trump?) they are All related to a former King of England, King John “Lackland” Plantagenet – the signer of The Magna Carta.
…Imagine that. The American hamburger Monarchy?

Tax-hell Republiclowns unite to enable their tax-and-spend Demonrat governors:
‘A bloc of five Republicans from suburban districts is saying they’re prepared to vote no on the wide-ranging tax and spending cut package key to President Trump’s agenda, if they don’t get the raise they want in the controversial state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap.
‘The group consists of Reps. Andrew Garbarino (N.Y.), Nick LaLota (N.Y.), Mike Lawler (N.Y.), Young Kim (Calif.) and Tom Kean Jr. (N.J.) — Republicans from wealthier suburban districts of major U.S. metropolitan areas, where higher property taxes make the increased cap especially valuable to taxpayers.’

I wonder if anyone who reads this blog received the Real ID and what the process required.
When I went to renew my VA driver’s license a few years ago, I did not have my birth certificate. I did have a valid US passport, and as-not-yet-expired VA drivers license. So, lack of the birth certificate precluded my state drivers license from sufficing for RealID. Basically, any ID issued by the FEDGOV itself would suffice for RealID purposes, your US passport being one (& likely the most common). I have a military CAC card, which is simply some other form of ID, but issued by the FEDGOV itself. So that sufficed for me to board an airplane yesterday.
GovCo, “Here, have a Real ID. You can tell it’s “real” because of the yellow star.”
Me, “Ahh, didn’t some other GovCo demand people have a yellow star?”
GovCo, “Yes, but ours is a FIVE-pointed star, their star was SIX-pointed.”
Me, “Ahh, I think I’ll pass.”
GovCo, “You must be an anti-Semite.”
I thought the same thing, Mark. Done quite deliberately, I’m sure, with glee and snickers.

I seem to recall there were quite a few ‘celebrities’ and even politicians world-wide, who demanded that the dirty unvaxxed should only be allowed out on the streets provided they wore something on their shirts for the obedient sheeple to easily identify them.
So this Real ID and similar schemes are just the next step of the same play.
But hey – it’s convenient and for our own good.
All politicians are liars and thieves, or soon will be, or will no longer be politicians.

The REAL-ID deadline was last extended under the ‘Biden’ regime:
‘Today [December 5, 2022] the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced its intent to extend the REAL ID full enforcement date by 24 months, from May 3, 2023 to May 7, 2025.
“DHS continues to work closely with U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories to meet REAL ID requirements,” said ‘Secretary’ of Homeland Security ‘Alejandro N. Mayorkas.’
https://www.dhs.gov/archive/news/2022/12/05/dhs-announces-extension-real-id-full-enforcement-deadline
‘Mayorkas’ — the first ‘Latino’ [sic] Secretary of DHS according to his former employer HIAS — presided over a flood of more than 10 million migrants into the US. It stopped instantly when ICE Barbie, She-Wolf of the DHS, took charge.
Recall last year’s bipartisan immigration bill developed by Senators James Lankford, Kyrsten Sinema, and Chris Murphy:
‘DHS emergency authority would automatically kick in if crossings rise above 5,000 on average per day on a given week, or 8,500 in a single day.’ — Communist News Network, Feb 6, 2024
HA HA HA. What a scam! What a diversion! Arizona lost its Senator when this flaming crock got defenestrated. Miss Sinema kicked over the checkers table and flounced away in her teeny-bopper denim skirt, orange-striped polo shirt and white sneakers, never to be seen again.
Washington DC is Hollywood for ugly people.
‘Mayorkas’ — the first ‘Latino’
“Latino” my ass. Mayorkas is Jewish.
Anybody else catch the irony of Jewish control of der HeimatSecuritatsAmpt?
Hi Eric, et al,
The analogy of Lucy and the football with Charlie Brown falling over and over again for the scam comes to mind. The citizens of the U.S.S.A were given no real choice….Trump and Harris were known quantities. A majority of voters voted against Harris more than for Trump. Trump has not changed one bit from his first term and he’s making the same mistakes but with much higher stakes. The whole Trump administration seems like a joke playing a shell game on the true believers…..which shell is the pea under now?
My belief is that Biden finished off the Democratic party and Trump is finishing off the Republican party. Trump’s margin of victory was not the landslide that his supporters claim. His mandates that took him over the top with people like you, none of them has been addressed. Instead the SMO in Ukraine will continue until Ukraine as a country is destroyed. Israel continues to commit genocide against the people in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank and by proxy Syria. The continuing resolution funds all the same old shit that we were supposedly defunding. DOGE is/was a sick joke. The tariffs that Trump has unconstitutionally imposed have lost the U.S. key allies and further driven Russia and China together as well as alienating Europe, Japan, South Korea and Viet Nam. Also, strengthening the BRICS initiative and China’s Silk Road initiative……Trump is a disaster. If we still have a country by the midterms, the Republicans will get slaughtered just like the last Trump regime when the Red Wave was a bust. Sheesh, and they wonder why I drink…

I believe a passport card will also be acceptable and it apparently doesn’t have your address on it. If so it would be about your only choice left that gives you privacy.
For cards with a RFID chip in them; a couple seconds in the microwave zaps them. Just something to consider…….
Big L,
You are correct. Just checked both the pass port card and my USA passport…..the only reference is,
“Born in Connecticut”……with respect to the Latvian passport….Not so sure! Albeit the country is a member of NATO and a Schengen participant.
Danger lies n the “He is better than Kamala!” syndrome. Is he? It is likely true, but still no reason to sell your soul. Voting for the lesser of two evils is always voting for evil. In my long, long, lifetime, not one government “we” have elected has moved an inch away from Machiavelli. The members of Congress who look out for the general population (at least most of the time) can be counted without having to remove your socks. The ones that look out for us all the time requires only one hand. “Regierung Uber Alles!” is the credo. Roughly translated from the German “Screw the troops!”
The problem is that we can’t vote not to have a president, governor, senator, etc. Thus, we’re between a rock and a hard place of voting for shit to avoid getting shittier. It’s a dreadful system.
Well, that’s not entirely true.
We can just NOT vote at all.
If enough people do this, even the system itself will struggle to continue to pretend it is somehow legitimate.
But yeah, that ain’t gonna happen.
Hi John,
I’m coming around to this point if view. Because I’ve become exasperated by the “choices.” My recent – and perhaps, final – vote was based on the hope (I know) that just maybe, if Trump won, we’d get less rather than more government. But it appears we’re going to get more authoritarian government, all wrapped up in the red, white and blue. Cue that loathsome song by Greenwood.
Did you ever really believe we’d get less government?
The American polity is pregnant with communism/statism/democracy. She was sullied many decades ago, passed through a series of evil men, Hamilton, Lincoln, Wilson, Roosevelt, Etc. like a cheap disposable party favor.
It will either be stillborn or it will come full throated into the world. The father is the execrable Shrub Bush, and the stepfather is Obastard. Trump is the new stand in who is pushing for an abortion and punching the dirty whore in the belly.
We’re in a horrible predicament and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Until a critical mass realizes that they are the rightful rulers of themselves and that the government they tolerate to deal with external and internal evildoers must be forced to obey the law and understand that they are servants and not masters.
Hi Arylioa,
One thing about Kamala. Had she won – had she pushed a REAL ID on Americans – the Red Hats would have been in an uproar. But they are quiescent because it’s Orange Jesus who is pushing it.
Hi Eric,
There are Trump supporters out there speaking out against stuff the Trump 2.0 administration is doing. However, Red Hats who are quiescent regarding the bone headed stuff pushed by Trump are almost as bad as the Blue Anon types who were quiescent when the Biden Thing was pushing bone headed stuff like mandates for people to be guinea pigs for Big Pharma or the proxy war against Russia framed as “Protecting Democracy for Ukraine!” but would have been screaming if such things were pushed by a Republican president.
Forgive my ignorance here, but what is the significance of a “Real Id?” Isn’t this just a centralized database creating a national dossier for each individual? Doesn’t the gubmint already have this on us through all the government records, private companies and DMV records?
I’m not saying I’m ok with such a database, but how’s the “Real Id” any different?
Hi ML,
My understanding of this REAL ID thing is that it’s a wet dream of the globalist/ technocratic elite who wish to monitor EVERYONE and their daily habits and whereabouts under the digital system they wish to foist on the masses. It was passed by a REPUBLICAN Congress 20 years under a REPUBLICAN President, who just happened to be George W. Bush. Subsequent presidential administrations have delayed it, but how odd is it that it takes President Donald Trump and his second administration to start enforcing it after 20 years?
Also, some people have raised concerns (valid IMO) that REAL ID could be expanded to include vaccination records (remember the digital COVID vaccine passports governments tried to ram through just a few years ago?), carbon footprint trackers, enforcement of CBDC, denying 2nd Amendment rights, etc.
But that’s just the behind the scenes database. It has nothing to do with the physical card itself. That database can exists whether we have a card or not.
Is this just a big distraction for us to protest about some stupid card when we really should be outraged by the database? That’s my sense.
Two reasons why I don’t have one and refuse to get one.
1. It creates a database on that citizen. Does the government have this information? Yes, but it is piece mealed together and one has to go through multiple agencies to be able to create it, where the Real ID has everything in a nice little box that can be hacked by whoever the hell. I view Real ID like I do BOI requirements for small businesses. It is a red line.
2. RFID tracking. They can keep their stupid ass tracking chips. Yes, do most people’s cell phones do this? Of course. Does mine? No, because one has to carry it with them to be able to track them.
Are they actually telling us what they are doing with this information? No. Do we truly believe it is for own safety? Only, if we are idiots.
Does a “Real Id” have an RFID chip in it? I don’t think it does. If that little star signifies a “Real Id,” I apparently have one. I candled it up to a bright light, but I don’t see any sort of chip embedded in it. It just a small translucent (perhaps holographic) image of my picture.
I’m not trying to be argumentative. Just wondering if I need to now be angry and outraged about yet another thing when it seems like it’s something I’m already angry and outraged about (i.e. an existing database on me).
Hi ML,
From my reading “some” have RFID embedded in them and can be read from a few meters away. Why some and not others? Personally, I don’t believe them unless the ones that do not have RFID are older cards that just have not been cycled out yet.
https://sage-advices.com/does-the-real-id-have-a-rfid-chip/
Well heres one more stupid story. I went in to my bank to withdraw some crisp bills for a gift. Ive been a customer there since the 80’s and we have several accounts. It was a couple of thousand. When I got up to the teller window I input my debit card, the teller brought up my accounts, then said I needed to present ID to withdraw cash. I whipped out my old DL which was still in my wallet when I received my real ID and after looking at it, she demanded the current card. Fumbling for the right card while she watched over me, irritation rising and realizing how silly this was I suddenly felt the need to make a point. Claiming I forgot my current ID, I excused myself and walked over the ATM which was located just a few steps away from the teller windows and proceeded to conduct the same transaction. No ID needed.
>No, because one has to carry it with them to be able to track them.
LOL.
Mine sits on my desktop most of the time, power off. Emergency use only, in case the VOIP landline goes out. “Power off” is still the default in case I do carry for emergency use (to call a tow, if necessary). Also have a Faraday bag, which are cheap (“belt and suspenders” mode).
Needless to say, I do *not* give out the number. As far as the world knows, I do not have a mobile number, and I wish to keep it that way. “Just leave a message (on my landline) and maybe I’ll call,” as Joe Walsh famously put it. I do *not* need to be reachable 24/7. If it is business related, call me at the office during normal business hours. Otherwise, take a hike.
A discussion about Real IDs in a phone conversation on Sunday between my son’s high school classmate and my second son was kind of interesting.
Don’t get a Real ID my son’s friend said to him. He was adamant about it, even.
Get a passport, he said. Don’t know if it will work to drive a vehicle, but a passport is probably about the same thing, easier to fly, maybe.
I am beginning to think that I could sell my vehicles, not have them, then rent for a month or two each year for a road trip and sightseeing vacation. Age makes a difference in how you might do something different, and what can be done could also be better. A decision for the future for now.
No monthly insurance, just buy the insurance when needed, have delivery of goods from Target and Malwart to your home.
I have a Real ID, my DL had expired and needed a new one. Had no choice, what was issued, I also needed a birth certificate from the state gov in order to be issued a Real ID, my birth certificate was issued by the hospital where and when I was born.
In May of 1987, the lilacs were blooming on the 10th, it is four days away and there is no way the lilacs will be in bloom by then. The lilac leaves are about 1/3 of the full leaf size. The lilacs have bloomed later each year since then. It is cooler now than in May of 1987, 1988 was a hot summer.
That’s the climate change I see.
When Id-ed (in any situation other than being roadside waylaid), I use my passport card with the bar code covered with a sticker so it can’t be scanned (I happen to use part of EP’s no clovers sticker, since he sent me a couple).
I don’t know if this is a good idea or a bad one, but I’d rather not show my driver’s license (of which I have also covered over the bar code on it with a sticker).
>I use my passport card
I present my current passport book (not card) when picture ID is demanded by other than traffic enforcement. So far, no issues, though it is not “scannable.,” which is why I use it.
We’ll know we are in Big Trouble if entities start refusing to accept a current U.S. Passport as valid ID.
I think the book has a scannable bar code in it.
>Don’t get a Real ID
Notice the War of the Words.
All the Little Eichmanns will willingly parrot, “That’s not a Real ID” when presented with a “Federally non-compliant” DL. Implication being, of course, that it is a “fake” ID. Excuse me?
Need to think about your response to this “accusation” before the situation presents itself, as it most certainly will. I suggest starting with “Oh, it’s real, alright,” in your best Jack Nicholson voice. After droid’s response, “No, it’s not a Real ID,” my next response is likely to be, “Are you accusing me of trying to use a fraudulent ID?” We’ll see where it goes from there…
Battered Citizen Syndrome.
“He lies to me because that’s how he shows his love” or “you don’t know him how I do”…and the multitude of other pathetic excuses that voters have to come up with to justify their beliefs in the dead/dying system of American politics.
As someone who voted for Trump 3 times myself (all 3 of the alternatives have been absolutely horrible), and learning over the past several years just how corrupt the U.S. government really is, I’m increasingly finding him to be a mixed bag. One good thing he did was make RFK Jr his HHS Secretary, given the rampant corruption in the government “health agencies”, but there are those who are trying to stop him. Trump also pardoned people who were falsely claimed to be J6 INSURRECTIONISTS by corporate media, the Democrat Party, and the Biden Thing. However, President Trump was also bragging about a $1 TRILLION budget for the Pentagon recently just weeks after he called for REDUCING Pentagon spending by 50%. If the Pentagon actually gets that much money, it’s liable to go to waste, as every time the Pentagon has undergone an audit over the past several years, it has FAILED.
And then of course, there’s the various politicians & bureaucrats who’ve committed all sorts of crimes during the COVID hysteria that would have likely gotten any ordinary citizen thrown in prison. So far NONE of them have been held accountable, and many of them just can’t wait to do it all over again. It’s also astounding that more people aren’t outraged that they’ve been LIED to by the government and corporate media about COVID, face diapers, and mRNA COVID vaccines.
Yep, we get a choice of SHIT or SHITTIER.
Don’t feel too bad.
That choice has gone global.
See Canada, Australia, Germany, etc etc
>One good thing he did was make RFK Jr his HHS Secretary
That would be the same RFK Jr who has stated publicly his belief that willingness to criticize a Jew, any Jew, is a type of mental illness, a “disease.”
Welcome to the Soviet Union, comrades.
Adi,
It appears Bobby Kennedy is a mixed bag as well. He once believed the climate change nonsense, but he did do a service to humanity a few years ago when he wrote his book on The Real Anthony Fauci, as there were a lot of people who’ve been propagandized into thinking Fauci was a SAINT. Kennedy also dropped several truth bombs on various issues and even ran for President himself at one point. Could you imagine if the Democratic Party was actually smart and allowed him to run against Joe Biden during the 2024 primaries instead of all but saying they were “Backing Joe Biden all the way!”?
1) He also exposed Bernie Sanders as being the NUMBER ONE shill for Big Pharma. I knew he was a fake phony fraud – not even a genuine progressive. But dang! Number one? If I was a lefty, I’d be furious with him.
2) That’s how we know the Demonrats cheated in 2020. They cheated Bobby out of the nomination when it was in their best interest to not cheat. He would have easily beaten Trump. Yet we’re expected to believe they didn’t cheat when it was in their interest to do so?
A nuclear arsenal, a Coast Guard, and the 2nd Amendment costs a heck of a lot less then $500 billion, so it’s still waste, even at a 50% cut.
Furthermore, the US military has taken no action to defend the US since January 8, 1815. The actual Defense Budget is zero.
I enthusiastically endorse this comment.
Hear! Hear!
Absolutely, “The Defense Department” should revert to its original name as the “War Department”.
Hi Mike,
Yup. The national socialists were at least honest about that. They had a War Minister. And so do we – only he is styled a “secretary” of “defense.”
>revert to its original name as the “War Department”.
I concur, most heartily.
Truth in packaging, you see. 🙂
But even that doesn’t quite get it.
Perhaps “Department of Beating Up on People who Can’t Defend Themselves.”
Seriously, Grenada?
And of course, that would apply to US Govt’s “bestie” in the Middle East, as well. But, let’s not go there, shall we?
JB,

2) Mark Twain….(closely paraphrased)

Pam Bondi gave you “Treyvon”.
Pam Bondi is not going to give you an indictment of Bill Gates for his rides on the Lolita Express.
On a related note, the new Governor in WA State has a long history with the Gates family.
The last Governor was Costco’s chore boy to the point that he let the retailer’s lobbyists write the liquor deregulation laws in WA State.
I wonder what Gates wants with a Governor.
