Do you live in a state where the state has deigned to allow the adults it parents to purchase marijuana if they “qualify” for “medical reasons”? My state – Virginia – is such a state and I’d like to describe the grift.
It begins – if you want to be allowed to buy marijuana legally – with the obtaining of what is styled a “prescription,” so as to make it seem “medically legitimate.” As if that were the only legitimate reason for a person to wish to purchase marijuana. Imagine having to get a prescription in order to be allowed to buy beer. It is actually surprising it is not required, given the money to be made on such grift. Which brings me back to the grift at hand.
You call a doctor who is authorized to write “prescriptions” for “medical marijuana” – as a palliative or sleep aid, for instance. You do not have to actually visit the doctor for an examination. You simply call the doctor up and pretend you have a medical condition such as achy joints or you just can’t get to sleep anymore. Maybe you actually have such conditions. It does not matter in the sense that how would the doctor know? Not having examined you, that is. Imagine trying to get a doctor to give you a prescription for Oxycontin over the phone, never having examined or even met you.
Of course, Oxy is dangerous and so there is liability. Pot, on the other hand, never killed anyone or even causes harm to anyone, aside from the psychological upheaval it triggers in people who don’t smoke it or otherwise consume it. Many of the latter like their beer and wine, however.
So the doctor pretends you have a condition that requires treatment with pot and writes you a “prescription” that allows you to legally buy it at what are styled “dispensaries,” to further the image that this is all about people being allowed to get the meds they need. Of course, the “prescription” comes with a price – $100, please. And the “prescription” must be renewed annually. That’s a nice little side grift, isn’t it? A doctor can pocket an extra $1,000 per month just be spending 5 minutes on the phone with every applicant. It is thus very probable that it was the doctors’ lobby that pushed for the legalization of medical marijuana. Now people who previously just paid their dealer for pot get to pay a doctor on top of that!
Over say five years, that’s $500 per mark. That buys a lot of pot. Well, it could have, except it went into the pocket of the doctor who has become a grifter, the state getting its cut at the dispensary. That brings us to the other real reason why pot has been legalized in many states: The state is making a bundle off the trade. When pot was illegal, the state collected little. It actually paid a lot – to arrest, cage and feed the multitude of “criminals” whose only “crime” was either buying or selling pot ; i.e., they participated in non-coercive free exchange. This brings up a point well-worth harping upon. We have heard for decades about what the state likes to style drug “pushers,” which is an interesting bit of lying in that no one is pushed to buy drugs such as pot. Certainly no adult. Pot is offered and if someone would like to buy some, they are free to do so. Perhaps not legally – but you see the point.
The only one pushing drugs, ironically, is the state. Pharmaceutical drugs such as the “vaccines” for “COVID” that proved to be neither safe nor effective. Yet the entire population was pushed very hard to take these drugs. And once again, doctors were in on that scam. They were among the heaviest pushers, in fact – and they were well-paid to do it.
Just like the doctors who write “prescriptions” for “medical marijuana.”

This just about sums up my college daze, 1989-1995-’96. I was 32 when I started college in 1989. I did not smoke pot, and was universally shunned, despised, rejected, and ostracized for my abstinence. I got in more trouble for *not* smoking pot than if I did.

Hi David,
That’s interesting stuff! I agree with you in re morality being a cuss word, almost. But I do not see that smoking pot (or eating gummies, occasionally, as in my case) is immoral. Coffee (well, caffeine) is a drug, too. Is it immoral to get perked up in the morning? If it is not, then I don’t see how it is to get relaxed after work, in the evening. I don’t see how morality enters into this at all. Unless we are talking about abuse, at which point one can make a case for immorality because of harms caused. But I do not see how having a few cups of coffee, a beer or glass of wine or mixed drink – or a puff or a gummy, occasionally – causes any harm to anyone.
Guessing most states tax “legal” weed at rates of up to 30% or more. It’s still much cheaper to buy from the “illegal” dealer because he isn’t bothering to collect Uncle Sam’s cut.

It is an injustice that individuals are refused access to the herb considering it is 100% natural and has been cultivated for thousands of years. Additionally, at least 100 studies prove that the plant can combat one of the most frightening modern afflictions: cancer. As 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men are predicted to develop cancer in their lifetimes, it is past time the herb lose its stigma and Schedule I status so that citizens worldwide might benefit from its many properties.
Following are 100 studies proving cannabis to be an all-natural cancer killer:
https://endalldisease.com/34-medical-studies-proving-cannabis-cures-cancer/
As bills and voter initiatives to legalize medical marijuana spread from state to state, remember that we’re not just talking about mitigating the side effects of chemo (though this is another viable use), we’re talking about curing the cancer itself as well as preventing its spread. I’ve taken the liberty of only including articles from credible scientific journals, removing any biased or otherwise improperly cited studies.

Hi Bill,
I liked your comment just fine! The spam filter didn’t apparently. Apologies about that. Just fixed it.
No problem Eric, I thought it might be something like that. AI bots are out of control now, your site is also probably crawling with them. I hope you watched some of the cancer cure videos, and of epilectic children and parkinsons patients. If you really want to know about some lifesaving cancer remedies here are two of the best, and you can also find them on youtube:

Just raising your Vitamin D level appropriately to activate your immune system is one of the most important things you can possibly do to protect your health. The ‘gov’ recommendations are pure bullshit to keep you sick and make you dead. I’ve been taking 5,000 IU D-3 daily in winter and every other day in summer for the past 19 years. The last time I was sick at all or even had a cold was 19 years ago. Had my blood tested about 17 years ago and it was >80 ng/ml, exactly what I wanted. 1,000 IU won’t do shit except meet the ‘gov’s’ bullshit 20 ng/ml recommended level when you need 50-80 ng/ml D-3 blood level to activate your immune system. D-3 isn’t really a vitamin, but rather a pro-hormone or immune system modulator that activates your immune system. Just look at the chart of hospital deaths versus Vitamin D blood level. ALL hospital deaths STOP at 34 ng/ml, except of course accidents. Most people don’t know this.
Search the Vitamin D research on my site for yourself, or don’t.
I liked you comment too.
The miracle of cannabis would be even greater if the plant had not been cross hybridized half to death with the goal being to increase the THC level (only 1 of 80 or so canabinoids in the oil) mainly because of prohibition.
The fractions work synergistically with hormones and enzymes in the body to trigger (promote or suppress) genes or catalyze tens of thousands of cellular functions.
Thrre is evidence of this plant being used by humans for at least 50,000 years.
Many conditions in the body are the result of canabinoid defiencies.
I’m sure these are probably covered in your links.
Before the FDA and the Volstead Act, the Pharmacopia contained 4000 formulas using cannabis.

Apparently I’m the only libertarian who doesn’t imbibe. But I’m a control freak, I don’t even like hard liquor (but I will gladly date her…).
I will say I’ve come to question the harmlessness of the evil weed. I’ve had 2 rescue calls here in rural western communisota in the last year where the patient was seizing and foaming at the mouth after smoking some large quantity of weed. I remember a co-worker in college who did the same thing- that dummy used a surplus gas mask to concentrate the smoke and put himself in a hospital, also having seizures and foaming at the mouth.
But if the joint pain from a lifetime of running and hard work gets bad enough, I may be tempted to try it. If I do it will be just like my ghost ARs and I’ll do my own. F@#k government licenses, lists, and permissions.
Hi Ernie,
Personally, I have never smoked a cigarette or done any kind of recreational drug (I also don’t have any tattoos and my only piercings are on my ears) so I may be weird. I do like a good glass of wine or a margarita every now and then, but I am usually a “one and done” kind of girl, because I do not like losing control of my faculties. Only once has hubby had to give me a piggy back ride because I was too drunk to walk. It was our Cancun honeymoon and we ended up at Carlos and Charlies. I somehow believed I could drink a 3′ margarita. I did, but the time I spent in the bathroom that night taught me a valuable lesson, which I have never repeated.
Like you, I also question the harmlessness of wacky tobacky. I watch the people around me who have used it for a prolonged period of time and they are not as alert or sharp as they once were. In the same breath, I don’t believe in banning it. If someone wishes to sit on their front porch smoking it, while eating a bag of Doritos, and believing the clouds in the sky are unicorns, be my guest.
The issue isn’t the harmful effects of recreational indulgence in the “wacky terbacky”. The issue is that does an adult OWN his body and mind, and has every natural right to get baked? Anyone considering him/herself a “Libertarian ” should enthusiastically say, “Gimme a ‘Hell-yeah!’ ” It’s quite alright to punish misbehaving done as a consequence of indulgence, be it booze, weed, or any exotic chemical that mankind has devised. With freedom does come personal responsibility.
Yep. But far too many people parrot the harmlessness of it.
I know better, but they have just as much right to take their chances with it as I do in refusing to wear a seat belt without damned good reason as decided by me.
Hi RG,
Oddly enough, I have never smoked an entire cigarette in my life. I tried one when I was about 14 and hated it. But I enjoy having a pot gummy every now and then (mostly because it gives me the deep sleep I otherwise rarely get anymore and that has been – per Trump – yuge for me). I used to smoke the stuff back in high school and college but stopped because I do think smoking anything is probably not a good idea and I’m a very health conscious runner, anyhow. There are many things about pot that I think are good or at least, not bad, in that no one ever wants to get into a bar fight when they’re high. They just want to eat, laugh and maybe go for a roll. Harmless – and fun – in other words.
I find it odd how the states that are legalizing — and in some cases pushing — dope remain virulently anti-tobacco.
Somehow inhaling tobacco smoke into your lungs is The Most Evil Thing Ever (besides Hitler… who didn’t smoke or drink, LOL) and you have to show proof to buy beer even if you are 70… but weed is GTG.
Aside from the merits or demerits of weed (which is a different matter entirely) this makes no sense.
Clearly it’s cultural, not scientific. If inhaling tobacco smoke causes lung cancer, I fail to see how inhaling dope smoke doesn’t. But tobacco is “conservative,” white, and male, as embodied by the iconic Marlboro Man — a cowboy on his horse.
Weed is hip, countercultural and nonwhite. “Ganja, mon.” Weed is being legalized and tobacco is being persecuted in states where the leftist counterculture has taken power.
I think it is an alternative to tobacco with the same aim- spray it with poisons to make people addicted. Marijuana smells terrible compared to 20 years ago, just like tobacco has smelled repulsive since the 90s. A good cigar or pipe tobacco has a smell yes, but is often pleasant. Apparently according to Dr Brian Ardis and American Indians generally, is good at curing wuflu, colds, and flu. Also, you shouldn’t breath smoke into your lungs. Just in and out the mouth or nose. Also, tobacco helps with thinking and alertness, marijuana helps with sleep. The state would rather you sleep. That said, tobacco grows like tomato plants… which also have nicotine along with eggplant and peppers among other things.
Good comment. One important thing to realize is that ‘CIGARETTES’ ARE NOT THE SAME AS TOBACCO!
Cigarettes are poison toxic cocktails made by ‘jew’, yes ‘jew’ tobacco companies. Tobacco has been used for health and enjoyment for centuries. IT’S THE ‘jews’, STOOPID.
Just had to throw that out there. haha
Hi Eric,
I never liked the smell of cigarettes or weed so I never bothered to try it. I do like the smell of freshly made coffee and warm chocolate chip cookies. That is what I indulge in. 🙂
Amen, RG!
I cannot imagine life without good (strong) coffee and tasty snacks to go with!
I drank coffee back in the day. I also drank copious amounts of mountain dew. When I detoxed off caffeine, I wanted to just crawl in bed and sleep for 2 weeks straight. Only thing harder was quitting cigarettes.
If you are making your own coffee on the cheap, so be it, but everytime I see a fool toting a Starbucks (or here in AK any coffee shack cup) I think to myself “there goes a financial loser”.
I smoked tobacco for years. Drank a lot for years. Ears & a few other things pierced. Tattoos.
Never tried marijuana. Not really that interested. Although I find that as I get older, the less I give a s#!t, the more likely I am to try stuff, and I’ve been warming up to that particular idea a little bit. I still hate the smell, though, I hate it when I have to smell my neighbor doing it every damned weekend, and I hate that the entirety of downtown Chicago smells like it.
Pay attention to the billboards for weed brands around Boston when you’re up there this summer.
Legalization is the gift from the humor gods that keeps on giving.
Oh God, RG,
I remember going to Carlos and Charlie’s back in my diving days in Cozumel……there were lots of stupid drinking games afoot but any serious diver would stop at a beer or two…..riding in a boat pitching about with a hangover defeats the purpose of the experience of diving on one of the most amazing wall dives in the world.
WRT, the medical marijuana scam, that’s pretty much the same old model behind what I call algorithmic medicine. The AMA got a monopoly on medical prescriptions in 1910 and that has devalued our medical system ever since and given rise to the influence of big pharma and eventually the clot shots. The allopathic medical system had to have a coerced monopoly because their treatments were not only ineffective but most often harmful….remember this was the tradition of mercury and blood letting via leeches. Ideologically nothing has changed.
WRT, marijuana consumption, most of my friends prefer edibles, sometimes topical creams. The nice thing, I’m told, about edibles is that it’s simple to titrate dosage such that you can have an acceptable level of ecstasy (thanks Lyle Lovett) without going overboard.
One more unrelated thing, I am pretty old and banged up and have converted from NSAIDs, which all have nasty side effects, to DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). Have a look at Midwestern Doctor on substack for some really in depth information.
Dude,
Cozumel had THE most asskick drift dives I ever “Floated through”.
Leave your dive fins in the dive boat and bring a chase lounge down to neutral bouyancy……and enjoy the Ride!!
Oh yeah,
I forgot to mention while diving in the Bali Sea (98)…
The Dive Master smelled Arak (nasty tasting local rotgut)
on my breath and …I told the guy “I’m Highly competent,
ethanol enhances the experience”!!
The guy laughed and said his dive instructor followed the same philosophy……
Welcome to Earth.
There’s no doubt whatsoever that marijuana kills brain cells. I’m not saying it should be banned by the state, only that all these Millennials who claim it’s harmless have a severe case of confirmation bias.
Hi Jason,
I dunno, man (had to say it)!
I’ve been smoking since high school, as have several friends of mine I’ve known since then. None of us are appreciably more addled, so far as I can tell. Though of course if I am in fact addled, I would not be able to tell, eh? Mind, none of us are “stoners” in that we use the stuff occasionally – once a week, maybe – and lightly. I use it to help me sleep, chiefly.
Lots of things kill brain cells….
I’m curious to see actual evidence of such an assertion….after all, there’s no doubt that carbon dioxide is a dangerous substance according to powerful political lobbies.
If you do try it, try some thats been made into butter or infused coconut oil. I’ve given up the smoking as my old lungs don’t do as well as they used to. But I grow and give away more than I ever would have imagined. occasionally use it in food when I need to be pain free. Was growing it when it was still illegal, long ago. Now its become a joke, as we can have six plants per adult, [up to twelve per household]
The MJ plants themselves are unequalled if you’re into gardening. The ‘its a weed, nothing to it’ mantra is BS, unless you’re into low quality ditch weed. Same as veggies or anything grown for that matter. Effort and attention equals excellence and yield. I have people tell me how easy it is to garden who cant even grow a cherry tomato plant on their porch. Kind of a younger mindset of, ‘just throw out some seeds, water, then harvest.’
Never heard of anyone foaming at the mouth over weed though. But the stuff they sell in the dispensaries is pretty full of chemicals and crap thats bad for your organs, same as factory farms.
A friend of mine used to make a recipe called majoun, a powerful substance of Moroccan origin. It involved boiling an ounce of leaf and then adding a pound of butter….the butter soaked up all the THC and then he skimmed the magic butter off and made a candy with dates, nuts, wheat groats, and other delectable stuff. He told me that the issue with it was that it tasted so good that it was hard to stop at a single small dollop. Oh, the other thing is that one would think there was no effect until it came on like a freight train…..I remember gales of laughter from this lad out of the blue. The same guy grew pot in the early seventies and it was much more powerful than ditch weed…..just saying……I wonder what happened to that lad.
Even though everyone goes on about how much more powerful the weed is nowadays, I’m convinced that some of the seventies and eighties stuff was stronger. When I was a teen I was taught to grow by a Vietnam vet who had some top notch horticultural skills. His place was filled floor to ceiling with house plants. He had an attached green house with three huge plants, he claimed were ‘Hawaiian.’ He’d regenerated these multiple times. To this day I have never grown or smoked anything close to that.
A lady friend of mine, a little older than me, spent her teen age years living and going to school in Morocco. She told me all about majoun and gave me a recipe, they were OK. I can see where moderation is crucial since they taste so good, hard to stop at just one.
Last year after playing around with majoun it sparked some kitchen creativity. Made a pie crust from scratch. Baked it, let it cool, melted some primo dark chocolate and a golf ball size chunk of hash together, spread that into the crust. Let it cool again, then filled it with strawberries, glaze and whip cream. My wife had a single fork full and was well lit. I ate two huge pieces, half of the pie. Couldn’t speak or get up out of my chair for over three hours. Never been so intoxicated in my life. No throwing up, panic, palpitations or other bad reactions though. Now I know first hand where the term couch lock comes from
As far as the “pot is so much stronger now, that’s why it should be illegal” argument, that just reveals ignorance of why people imbibe.
An alcohol comparison would be, you might drink a six-pack during a fuhtbahl game. That’s 72 ounces, that is 8 oz. over a half gallon of, let’s say, 6% alcohol. You may get a bit of a buzz but, probably no severe hangover. Now, compare that with Everclear, 150 proof is 75% alcohol. Would anyone live after consuming over a half gallon of the stuff in 3 hours?
The point is, higher potency just means you use less to get the same result. No one wants to spend more for the desired results.
God put this plant here for a reason (along with several others that have been prohibited). Quit trying to “fix” what YOU think God got wrong. Arrogance and hubris drive the Drug War.
Hi Ernie,
I wonder whether the guys you went to rescue had smoked something that was laced. I have never heard of such a thing happening solely on account of pot. Perhaps they had an underlying condition? I have been very stoned in my life – and the worst that happened was I ate two pizzas (the full-size Dominos ones) all by myself…
I’ve never done alcohol or drugs(including pot). I hate the idea of anything clouding my senses or altering my perception, or degrading my coordination or affecting my optimal health or causing some negative side effect. But I do DESPISE the the idea of “the state” playing daddy to anyone, and decreeing that someone can’t do something because it is or “may be” dangerous; and even going so far as to subject people to armed government goons and the loss of liberty and property ‘for their own good’. The idea of forcing others to pay for the “treatment” or “rehabilitation” of those who choose to imbibe is equally repugnant. As with most things in modern life, government is the problem.
And the hypocrisy of the state is mind blowing, considering that they are the very ones pushing drugs on everyone from the day we are born, via the form of hardlining dangerous concoctions of who-knows-what’s-in-them vaccines and prescription behavioral drugs, from infancy!
‘Imagine having to get a prescription in order to be allowed to buy beer.’ — eric
ARRGGHHHH! Don’t give them ideas.
Nurse: ‘Step on the scale, sir. Thank you. Now let me measure your height and your waist. Okay, entering your data into the system.’
Computer voice: ‘BZZZTTTTTT! Patient’s body mass index exceeds 25. DISQUALIFIED for beer prescription!’
Nurse: ‘Sorry, sir. That will still be $100. Can we interest you in a Wegovy scrip at $900 a month?’
I have to note that we’ve already had that, during the first prohibition era booze was available by prescription. I have one of the bottles/boxes it came in around here somewhere. Old timers tell me it was awful rotgut.
Indeed, Jim –
I am actually surprised this sort of thing hasn’t happened… yet. But – wait. A communist Muslim is about to become mayor of New York City. It can’t be nuked soon enough.
It was a serious eye opener to find the number of 20-somethings who had chronic back pain and glaucoma when Colorado legalized medical marijuana. Now it’s just fully legalized, they realized that dopers gonna dope so might as well skim the sale. Hasn’t changed the black market and in fact probably helped it by raising the prices, the government being so dumb it can’t even sell weed profitably. They put in high taxes and require putting yourself on a list. So if you had a guy or were doing it yourself you’d keep on doing that. It’s mostly tourists who use dispensaries. Kids on spring break ski trips, oldies here on vacation.
As you no doubt know, Colorado legalized psilocybin, whereas New Mexico is playing the “medical psilocybin” grift. Next up…peyote. Probably start with Native Americans being allowed to possess and use it for “religious” purposes. Hello, Pocahontas.
The worst grift, IMO, is doctor assisted suicide. The doctor worshippers will play along, and dutifully get their doctor’s permission to off themselves. Can’t check out unless “blessed” by a Holy Man. But does Medicare cover it? And do you have to prepay the “co-pay?”
The “uninsured” will have to settle for drycleaner assisted suicide, I suppose.
The Powhatans NEEDED whatever crap went into the “Peace Pipe” in order to “get frisky”. If Pocahontas looked anything like many portraits of her, she was an OUTLIER. Certainly not as depicted in the 1995 Disney animated film.
Barry wrote, “the government being so dumb it can’t even sell weed profitably”
Reminds me of the Mecklenburg County ABC Board a number of years ago. NC has “state” liquor stores and the ones run in MeckCo(Charlotte) ran a deficit of $3Million. Only GovCo can lose money selling booze.
Quoth a version of Frank Nitti (Billy Drago) from the 1987 film, “The Untouchables”…”it ain’t supposed to be ‘good’ (referring to the watered-down, ill-tadting brew that Capone forced on Chicago “speakeasys”, also a reference to the “Cicero Beer War” of 1926)..it’s supposed to be BOUGHT!”.
Indeed, Barry –
It’s as greasy as any other grift. But worse in a way because it just further erodes whatever was left of the reputation of the medical profession. My dad was an MD and he’d be appalled by this were he around to see it.
It’s the whoring of it that is disgusting. We have a family friend doctor who said way back that marijuana (cannabis) does have a legitimate medical use. It helps with nausea, is a natural pain killer, anti-inflammatory with mild side effect risk. It’s a natural substance and can be an alternative to pharmaceutical chemicals.
He was old school, though, generally tried to avoid drugs and wasn’t necessarily opposed to natural remedies generally. He also would talk about the source being important, clean, free of too many fertilizers and stuff, not hyper (and variable) potent as the recreational drugs have become. He wasn’t against medical marijuana as such because giving it legitimacy could have benefit in allowing above board use, you know details about what you’re using.
The bottom line reason it was illegal is it competed against alcohol and tobacco primarily, so that lobby worked hard to prevent legalization. But also drug makers don’t want you medicating with things that occur in nature. They can’t patent things organic and naturally biological. They couldn’t synthesize a cannabis alternative so it had to be illegal, forcing people into opioids.
FYI, the AMA opposed the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 because they knew it had medicinal benefits that other substances didn’t…and no kickbacks, either.
My how times have changed.
CO gets a pretty large chunk of tax money from the recreational pot trade. They don’t get anything from the medicinal kind, so there’s still incentive to get your medical card.. Same stuff, just sold from a different counter.
Las Vegas is pretty much a zombie town thanks to recreational weed. The last two times I walked the strip people were smoking right on the sidewalk, strolling down the street with a blunt in hand. Walk into the casino, the place is empty. Everyone’s outside staring at the lights and laughing… No wonder the big resorts charge for parking now (by the hour). The drop is gone.
Well, haha, I’ve been smoking weed for over 50 years. Never even thought about getting a ‘prescription’. http://billsropesupply.com/garnerweed1.jpg
Spent some years in Humboldt County and the Emerald Triangle hiding from CAMP planes and rippers and growing some fantastic bud! Spent a number of years on the run for possession of 2 ozs of weed that was worth 20 years in prison -THAT I CAN NOW WALK INTO A STORE AND BUY – although I never have been in a dispensary.
Instead, buy some Good seeds online and a couple grow lights and away you go. For 20 years before ‘they’ ‘legalized’ it a year or two ago here, a simple 10′ room divided into “grow” and “bud” and a little fertilizer will provide all the awesome bud you can possibly smoke for about a $50-100 a month electric bill. 600 watt lights are good enough.
Ask me how I know…
I had a cutting of Skunk under a light and in good soil.
The cutting rooted but would not grow.
After several weeks of trying to get the plant to grow, no dice.
I pulled the plant to see what was going on with the root system.
Lo and behold, I discovered a tiny parasite tapped into the root, some kind of worm robbing the goods.
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
Always something out there that makes life miserable for you and a lot of other people.
Root Tone is what to use for cuttings and clones, and keep the cuttings watered really well at first. I bought a bunch of different strains from ILGM.COM some years ago, like 10-20 seeds of each kind, and still have 1/3 of them. They may still germinate.
You have to watch out for most of these ‘seed companies’ which a lot are straight ripoffs and others seeds are bunk. ILGM replaces any that don’t germ, but sometimes they give you a bunch of shit until you demand the replacements. I’m not promoting them just saying I did get some damn good seeds from them that grew really well, along with some tiny bullshit seeds that would never germinate and had to have 20 or 30 seeds replaced.
Once you have what you want just keep cloning from there on out or until you add new strains. Haven’t seen root parasite like you said but had store-bought organic soil that grew shitloads of mushrooms, and flies and aphids from somewhere once. Also, watchout for the dreaded Yellows! Once in a while a damn hermie will come out and pollinate half your crop!
Once you get the cycle going of continuously adding clones on one end and harvesting bud (have patience let it dry slow and Cure) on the other, you have a non-stop continuous supply of new and different and excellent bud if you got good seeds- it’s all about the seeds- and good grow light bulbs changed regularly, and well, I’m gonna go burn one now. hehe
The densest bud I grew was Colorado Cabbage, made you a cabbage head or something.
Grew 12 different strains from cuttings 15 years ago, you buy the light with the newer ballast, they’re much smaller.
In Seattle, growers would jump the meter and tap into the live wires, free electricity.
One grower back then flew to Los Angeles to instruct growers there how to set up shop.
You need electricians who know what to do, they are key to an indoor grow.
His friend, another grower, drove a Corvette and had a van equipped for the business.
You have to have a means.
Buying a pound in 1985 was an easy purchase.
I’ve said enough, I’ve said too much.
It is called ‘one hit wonder’ for a reason.
Can concur. ILGM, NorthAtlantic, and Mantis of southern Az are pretty good quality seeds. A few years ago I began my own breeding program. I’m all out doors, don’t use electric except for the tiny seedling tent if I want to start early in winter. Thats how you get ten footers around here. A nine month growing season is helpful as well, although late October, November has some high humidity rainy days.
A few years ago I crossed some Dutch Orange with male pollen from my Mantis land race sativa. Its the only thing I’m running this year and it is showing some fine potential at this point. Have to keep an eye out for the stealthy males, but I think these girls are going to be keepers.

It’s on my bucket list to hang out with a ten foot ganja plant some day. Great reggae band btw, 10 ft. Ganja Plant, that is.

Helped a buddy two summers in a row with watering, harvesting and trimming several plants. They were grown outdoors in his garden, with a tall fence around it to keep elk and javelina out. Trimming is tedious work — several hours per plant.
Cannabis prices have fallen so low that it’s easier to just buy at a dispensary — especially as the market has moved to live resin concentrates. With a sleek, breath-operated vape pen with 72% THC content, you only need a couple of hits.
Yeah I know what you’re saying. Outdoors takes a lot more work than indoors and is a lot riskier from thieves, helicopters, planes, and satellites. You can grow some damn good shit outdoors though!!
I also know what you mean about the % content on that shit, but my buddy brings this shit over not from a store, can’t quite remember what it’s called but super concentrated beyond like what hash-oil is and was so super strong and so tasty it is almost like weed-crack! I couldn’t trust myself with an endless supply of that shit.
I make plenty of excellent oil using Everclear grain alcohol that is so good it will make you just burst out laughing for no reason when you smoke it. Also, the variety and the taste of smoking excellent kind bud is part of the process, like a connoisseur. Excuse me a second…….. hehe
I would go into a dispensary, since they are everywhere, but there is no reason whatsoever to have to have a ‘government ID’ scanned at the fucking door to buy weed and I won’t.
Hash oil is my go to, most versatile substance as you can eat it, which I do daily, vape it, infuse joints/buds with it, or make edibles out of it. Just squirt a rice sized glob onto your finger and you’re off.
helicopters, planes, and satellites – oh my!!

Into your life, it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
You step out of line
The man come and take you away”

I miss the sixties, and the seventies, and some of the eighties.
Me too, man. BUT, we got to live in the Best of Times, looking back! Compared to now, I can’t even explain it to my own son. It wasn’t perfect back then, but I lived life 150% and I’m still doing it, and only now it is so obvious in comparison to see how (((they))) have ruined the world and turned it into a police state.
I spent years hitchhiking all over the country and into Canada and Mexico. Went to EVERY concert I could, like the California Jam and CAL Jam 2, (too young for Woodstock) and filled a a shoe box with ticket stubs from EVERY rock band known almost. Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Lynyrd Skynyrd… Great times.
One of the methods that CAMP did, when growers got wise to unexplainably large PG&E bills and simply powered their grow lights from diesel generators, was to require filling station operators to log the driver licenses and tags of anyone that filled fuel cans or drums with diesel; else, they’d be charged with criminal conspiracy in growing Marijuana and face a lengthy stretch in a Federal “pound em in the ass” prison. It forced the growes to at least go afar to get their diesel.
Those red and white planes would fly over then a week later helicopters with big nets and an army on the ground come. If you’re still there off to jail you go. If you’re gone they only cared about the plant count anyway, and loaded it and your 3-wheelers, propane ice-box, guns, radios, anything else they want into huge helicopter nets and flew off with it. Anything they couldn’t steal the plastered with huge CAMP evidence stickers that don’t come off, then they all left. That was until they started confiscating land. The Budley Awards at Panther Gap.
You see listings: For sale by owner, 80 acres, private road, southern exposure, year-round water, fertile soil, balloon payment. That was back in the 1980’s. Lights were mostly for getting all female Starter plants a couple foot tall ready to put out. Then it was deer, thieves, feds, bugs and water you had to worry about.
Now it’s easier to just get some lights or grow outdoors or BOTH. Like someone said, inverter powered grow lights are cheap and work well and use less power than analog transformer ballasts, BUT they put out powerful RF INTERFERENCE across large parts of the broadcast and other radio spectrum that is easily traceable by anyone with an AM radio. When their ball game on the radio starts getting blacked out by noise from 6 pm to 6 am or whatever EVERY night, they may start looking for the source. Ask me how I know.
Since it’s ‘legal’ now around here nobody is looking and nobody cares. There’s a dispensary on every corner in town, and one has a huge grow-house building right next to it. Until a couple years ago possession over an ounce got you 2-20 in prison and sales of even one joint was 5 to Life, in prison, for a damn joint! So who’s the actual ‘criminal’ here?
In Arizona you can visit a dispensary and buy some cannabis.
All kinds of varieties, a first time customer receives a 20 percent discount, you can buy a few ounces at a time.
After going on 54 years of imbibing, I ain’t dead yet.
Colorado had Air Force One as a strain of marijuana back a few years ago.
Washington State has dispensaries and you can just buy pot, no questions asked. Don’t need no stinkin’ Real ID.
A local strain was Superman at a dispensary in Wenatchee.
On this date in 1876, Custer led his infantry and cavalry to their doom, Custer made a fatal military blunder.
Just as a yearly reminder, Trump should keep it in mind, methinks.
There was the Mexican-American War from 1841-1842, it is believed that US soldiers were smoking pot way back then, the rumor was they liked pot too.
There are 25,000 metric tons of cannabis bought and sold across the US every year, you don’t need no card to buy some pot.

Yes, WA State legalized over a dozen years ago, but that came at the price of a huge gift to the major players in the alcohol distribution racket in the form of deregulation.
Costco lobbyists literally rewrote the retail liquor rules in the state.
Jay Inslee was so owned by Costco that we called him Governor Kirkland Brand.
It’s a weed.
Seriously, if you can keep a houseplant halfway alive, you can grow this in your garden by the back fence for little to no cost.
I have never understood the mentality of those that buy this stuff – grow it yourself and know for sure that you are getting exactly what you want with no adulteration. And it keeps you off any lists – who knows what entity is buying the customer list.

People don’t grow their own for several reasons. Work is one, quality, consistency and keeping others away are other reasons. And, if you live in a state like North Carolina with no medical availability you can be charged with “manufacturing” which carries very hefty fines and prison time.
The trouble with that is even if you’re an owner-occupant of your home, you can have your mortgage called in if they learn you’re “growing your own”. Mortgage lenders don’t want to get caught up in a Federal Prosecution for growing Marijuana, and especially the home SEIZED under Civil Asset Forfeiture.
Cops will fuck with sustenance growers amd those that patronize dispensaries because they CAN. They’ve been known to take pictures and log license plates, even though the patrons are engaging in LEGAL commerce.
The FedGov has been known to try and hack into / get the list of people who have a card from the state gov.
It’s still illegal federally, the stuff they are writing perscriptions for. It also violates a federal gun background check.
Ergo don’t sign up! The feds can fuck with you any time they want, may as well sign away your 2A rights.
In VA pot(“25:1”) and oxy (kratom) have both been legalized effectivly in full in cigarette stores by the current govenor.
I see a lot of devices in the parking lot of the “medical marijuana” dispensary near my house.
Trippiez. I’m not kidding about the name.
The local Burger King franchisee is looking to get in on the grift with Austin’s first Tim Horton’s, strategically located across the street from Trippiez.
The big medical grift in Texas, however, is Adderall.
What an embarrassment that Texas remains the most hardcore anti-cannabis state in the country … just as it was when I was in high school.
My brother-in-law from Austin was busted in a highway stop in a little town near Lubbock, bringing cannabis gummies from Colorado … for his mom.
Because he’s in a licensed profession, he had to pay a lawyer thousands of dollars to negotiate a legal fudge that wouldn’t threaten his licensure.
This is one reason that I despise f*cking RINOs, of the sanctimonious, authoritarian Texas variety.
Amen, Jim –
I have mentioned on these pages before that as a 19-year-old college kid, I was “busted” – maaaaaannn – for growing pot in my dorm room at college, idiot kid that I was. I was arrested and charged with felony manufacture/production with intent to distribute. It almost cost me everything, starting with my freedom. I could have been sent to prison for several years; I certainly would have been kicked out of college and rendered unemployable except in menial positions as a “convicted felon.” Over growing plants.
Fortunately, it ended up being reduced to a misdemeanor possession charge that went away after a couple of years of “good behavior.” But – holy cow!
It was very personal for me and it made me realize just how evil the state can be. I thought about the millions of non-violent, people who’d harmed no one who’d been sent to prison and had their lives ruined. It gelled my libertarianism then and there.
