The War Tax For Me

I finally got my old muscle car back in running order a few days ago and one of the first things I did after getting it running again was to run down the road to the gas station, to put some fresh gas in the tank – because the gas in the tank had been in there for more than four months, during the downtime it took for me to convert the car from factory automatic to (much more enjoyable) manual.

I wanted to get fresh gas in the tank, because old gas that’s been sitting for months can sometimes be harder for an old, carbureted muscle car V8 engine to digest easily. Hard starting/rough running, etc. But I also wanted to top off the tank because – thanks to Trump’s stupid, evil war – it is not inconceivable that gas might soon become hard to get. Especially gas that’s still gas – as opposed to ethanol-adulterated “E10” (and now – soon – E15).

For now, it is just expensive.

It cost me just shy of $60 to pump about 13 gallons into the tank. The Trans-Am’s tank holds about 22 gallons. A fill-up would have cost more than $100. I am struggling to be able to afford to drive my old car – which is quite something, because when I was a young guy I could easily afford to fill it up.

I have owned my Trans-Am since 1994. I bought it when I was a young guy not making much money as I was only recently out of school and just starting my adult working life but I was able to afford the car and the gas. Back then, I drove the TA regularly. I used to regularly drive it to work in DC, at The Washington Times. The car still has the blue TWT parking lot permit in the corner of the windshield. I was able to do that because a tankful of gas cost about $20. Here I am, more than 30 years later – no longer a young man and no longer able to afford drive the TA except occasionally.

It is a measure of what’s been done to us – not just me.

And especially to today’s young.

My old college buddy’s son is currently only a little shy of the age I was when I bought the TA. Owning a car like my TA is an inconceivability for him – unless his dad is willing to buy it for him and buy the gas for him (which he can’t afford to do anymore than I can). I wonder whether my buddy’s son and others of his cohort appreciate just how badly they’ve been gypped. If he wanted to buy something analogous to my TA today – something like a 16-year-old Mustang GT, let’s say (my TA was about that old when I bought it back in the early ’90s) he’d have to come up with something in the vicinity of $10,000 for the car – which is what it’d cost to get a nice one in condition comparable to the condition of my TA, back in the day – and then the $80-$100 it takes to fill the thing up. Then there’s the insurance.

Forget about it! – As they say in the Bronx.

It annoys me immensely – because I would like for the young of today to be able to have and enjoy what I had an enjoyed when I was their age and also because I do not want their understandable resentment to serve as the fuel for a misguided but understandable political tsunami that will result in all of us living an even more diminished life than most of us are already living.

It is worth remembering that outraged youth was the cohort that led the Communist revolution in what became Soviet Russia as well as the National Socialist revolution in Germany. It is understandable. Young people want a future and deeply resent it being denied them. They see an older guy like me driving a muscle car and realize they probably never will. Certainly not until they are a lot older, too and maybe – finally – they get in a position to be able to afford one. Same as regards a place of their own. A home. I was able to buy my first one – in the DC area! – around the same time I bought the TA.

I was in my 20s. Now most first time homebuyers are pushing 50.

I look back on this and marvel.

My old house is like my TA in that both are things I could not afford today if I had to re-buy them today, 30 years later when I ought to be able to easily afford such things.

The house I bought for around $155k is now $650k and the TA I bought for around $5k would cost around $30k.

Plus gas.

I could not swing either, today. I only have the TA because I could swing it 30 years ago.

No wonder Spanberger is the governor of my state. I expect the Spanbergering to go national come the midterms. I do not welcome it.

But I do understand it.

  1. I suggest a 2011 or later V6 MUSTANG w 6 spd manual for the young man. Notorious for cruising at 30 mpg on regular AND still over 300 hp.

It was my recent 2nd choice behind the much better G37x. Unobtanium w 50k unless yr me

    • “You vill hafe nothing, und be happy…”
      (((Klaus Whoever)))

Those (((chosenites))) really weren’t kidding, they built a seriously deep bench to destroy us Goyims.

The Orange Golem is just the latest of their henchmen, doing their dirty work for them.

The real question is, what will it take to wake up the sleeping citizens as to whom our real enemy is???

The big push to take guns away from goyims is that pretty soon, the (((GOV))) is going to do something that is going to make people “shooting mad”, as we used to say last century…

      YMMV….

  2. Spanberger just signed a bill allowing “immigrants” to attend high schools free until they’re 22 yo. Waiting to hear the fallout from this. Guess you’ll have to vote harder next time!

  3. Try filling my old land Rover gets about 14mpg and take 93 which is almost $5 per gallon holds over 20 gallons I always top of when it’s down a quarter and still costing around $25 why premium now days is a full dollar more I don’t get in the past was like 20 cents more got to love fucking dickhead in office the dear leader I’m sure tired of winning.

  4. Trump was a little girl rape maniac. Now this loon is president and is causing a bad situation to get worse by the day. The only sane thing to do is stop him now, by removing him from office. Each day this loon stays in power is a threat to every living thing on this planet.

Meme of the day: trump hates the marines and is sacrificing them needlessly because he is a jewish supremacist lunatic

    https://i.imgur.com/gjXOFDO.png

No military person should obey the orders of the Commander in Chief when he is a compromised child rapist being blackmailed by Israhell.

Trump is not just slaughtering Marines, he is destroying moral.

Trump must be stopped right now. No sane society would allow this lunatic to continue.

    • IMO Trump should be killed just to shut him up:

Mussolini was Ii Duce, Trump is Ill Douchebag
      https://i.imgur.com/EhFmYBu.jpeg

IMO a national leader who lies should be held as a capital crime.

IMO Trump deserves no consideration, he is a nation wrecker, he’s a mad dictator, he just ruined the Middle East, destroyed the petro-dollar, mass murdered little girls, has bombed hundreds of schools and hospitals (non-military targets) in Iran. Trump is committing thousands of heinous war crimes, he deserves immediate execution as a war criminal, and some patriotic marine sniper should put him out of his misery.

Order following is not just insane, it is suicidal. Following orders of Trump, Netanyahu, and Zelensky is madness, and those who have access to these crazy loons should take action and end their lives to save lives. Just because you are given an order to bomb a school, or a hospital does not justify your actions to do so.

    • In the last couple of weeks I noted that the war would become “tit for tat” as it escalates. Israel is being pulverized, it is really bad in Israel, but because of the media blackout, we are not seeing the destruction.

Jews, by the very definition of being a Jew, a chosen one, are supremacists. A supremacist can not lose. Losing will make the Jew head explode. So what does the Jew do when it loses? It will start targeting non-military structures and people. Like schools, hospitals, day care centers, nurseries, farms, oiive trees. The Jew does not care if you call it a war crime, the jew does not recognize the civilzed world’s definitions, laws, customs. The Jew is god, and you are not, in fact if you criticize the insane crimes of the jew the jew will call you anti-semtic, even if the jew is not a semite.

If you pay attention, Jews become so hateful they even kill baby goats just to spite their enemy which refused to die.

How is the world to deal with these people? Outlaw them, kill them, contain them, sterilize them. All Torahs should be banned. All rabbis rounded up and intern in camps away from the population of sane people.

  5. As the Retarded Chimp used to ask, Is our students learning?:

‘The last 48 hours saw new US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s university of science and technology in the northeast of the capital. Buildings were severely damaged.

‘The IRGC says American universities are now “legitimate targets” unless the US officially condemns the attacks on Iranian schools by noon on Monday, according to Fars.

‘The IRGC has gone so far as to release a statement urging staff, faculty, and students to vacate and stay away from theses campuses. Some notable American university branches in the Gulf (among dozens) include Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the United Arab Emirates.’

    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/pentagon-eyes-weeks-ground-operations-iran-irgc-threatens-tit-tat-strikes-universities

I fully encourage Iran to demolish the Abu Dhabi branch campus of my alma mater NYU. It’s a way of making rich, dual-loyalty New York Jews feel the pain of the wanton destruction caused by their little apartheid colony, which is repeating its Gaza-style war crimes against Iranian schools and hospitals. Burn, baby, burn.

  6. It’s worse than you think, Eric. First of all, you couldn’t even afford to top off the tank. In all likelihood, gasoline will continue to go up or even become unavailable. All across the world, people right now can not buy gas for any price.

    What happens then?

The first thing that happened in Australia this week was bare supermarket shelves. No diesel means no food deliveries. It also caused a panic, people bought out all the stuff in the store before there was nothing to buy.

If you heat your home with firewood, you would NOT drive your Trans Am at all – you would siphon the gas for your chainsaw and wood truck. Simple logic, if you heat with wood, your home is unlivable without heat. People in Ukraine actually experienced this horror this winter.

If you heat with wood and get your own wood better have extra chainsaws, chains, bar oil, filters on hand. Not to mention a wheel barrow and extra splitting mauls.

Basically, Trump has so screwed us that your muscle car is now a 22 gallon gas tank on wheels parked in your garage.

Then there is the problem of income, what happens if there’s no gas, how are you going to go to work and buy food, not to mention your property tax or other bills, like your mortgage?

Fuel is a critical resource, no fuel means the entire debt structure will implode. What Trump has done is screw us all.

    • You just answered your own question re: paying taxes and bills. If the psychopaths in charge continue to allow gas prices to soar, who will pay for their precious AI buildout? Their taxes? Their very existence? Self-preservation on the part of the self-appointed ruling class demands that the feather plucking cease at some point.

    • IMHO opinion (friendly advice) Eric should immediately delete that video because he has it tagged to his plate. Redo it with the plate covered over. Just sayin’ the obvious. I do not know what the laws are in VA, but I would be careful, especially if you are a “self declared” Libertarian, which all statists, like Demoncraps and Repuglicons, hate.

There is no greater threat to state rule if you are of a political persuasion that no man has authority over another.

The extra big letters on VA plate is laughable and shows you the level of control they have, and how they intend to identify you. His plate has shockingly HUGE glyphs.

  7. We need some comic relief from another lost war, with foreign bases in smoking ruins and US soldiers coming home in boxes. Unz Review commentator Notdofast is on a roll:

‘Dulles Airport should be named after Trump, because he is an even bigger traitor than either of the Dulles brothers.

‘It would be an easy rename, to Dullard International. That way they just have to remove the “e” and “s” and replace it with “ard.” Maybe they could just use some leftover black Sharpies, from the Epstein redactions.’

One suspects that as a lifelong sufferer of NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), Trump is utterly incapable of tolerating ridicule. Our mission, therefore, is to mercilessly mock his sorry orange ass till he experiences a brief, horrifying moment of existential clarity, and sees himself as the decadent, putrid human wreck he really is.

Donnie Dullard: born to lose. 🙂

    • Notsofast smokes a Ziotard:

‘Israel is being pounded daily. Maybe you should go there to see for yourself and kiss the wall. You can hang out in the shelters or shitelters as they are known in Tel Aviv.

‘That sounds like fun, like hanging out in the subway in London during the Blitz. Maybe you’ll meet a nice Jewish girl there and settle down. You can become a settler. You’ll get a free home, once you murder the Palestinians that built it. If I don’t steal your home someone else will.‘

      Death, death, to the IDF.

    • Hi Jim,
I’ve got my sharpie ready to cross out Trumpenstein’s signature if it ever turns up on any of my fiat paper currency.

    • Kudos for pointing out the evil of the Dulles brothers. I used to live less than 10 minutes from there and never thought about the name until I understood who John Foster and Alan Dulles actually served (it wasn’t the American people). If it was named “Hitler National Airport” it would actually be less offensive.

      • Ditto that, MQ!

Me, too – re living near Dulles Airport (we talked about that before). I have not been back up the area in about 15 years. I wonder how much worse it’s become since the last time I saw it. I keep meaning to drive up there to have a look, but the thought of actually doing it prevents me from doing it!

  8. Looking at a few examples,
    Rome 2 – 4th centuries
    Spain 16 – 17th centuries
    Brits 19 – 20th century

They were similar to where we are now. Expanding empire and inflation.

They all ended to different degrees of losing their global status.
This will happen to us also.

We are late stage, with a debt so high that lenders will abandon the dollar once a suitable substitute is settled on.

No one will have to worry about gas at that point because it will be unaffordable.

  9. The largest problem we face is how do you change peoples minds when their too stupid to understand that many of our problems are a result of over a century of money printing and foreign entanglements?

I try but I generally get low results. When you’re dealing with people who fail to grasp that their tax refund was a result of being overtaxed in the first place you’ve got to wonder.

    • Same here Landru,
I was always amazed at how many of my coworkers (back before I retired) acted as though they had won the lottery when they got a big tax refund. Reminding them that it was their own money to begin with and they had given Fedgov an interest free loan made no impression whatsoever. Depressing.

  10. Post war economics depended on a growing labor force, just in time for the baby boomers to get going. My father, a depression baby born in 1938, told the unbelievable story of how when he graduated Pitt with a 3.4 GPA in electrical engineering he “only” got offers from 5 companies. This was in 1958, and there was a massive labor shortage. They needed a bunch of men to run slide rules and drafting tables. Not only because the economy was booming, but also because the war and depression pushed down fertility rates -to a rate pretty close to where we are today at 2.0 and falling. The baby boom was more about pent-up demand, not some “new normal.” If there had been no depression or world war, those kids would have been born over a longer period of time. But it also flooded the workforce with cheap labor just before international competition rebuilt their industries and started competing again. The 1970s reflected that fact, and the answer was the Enjoli woman and feral gen-X kids. Now that pool’s been tapped out so what’s next? Go after the immigrants. Try to automate everything. Consolidate corporations. Anything but pay someone to do what their dad did.

Even in the trades there’s a trend to corporatize. Instead of looking for a plumber in the yellow pages or asking a neighbor, you call the number on the flashy trucks you see all over town. They do good work, right? That’s one less “Father and Sons” business that never gets handed down to the kid. One less member of the local Chamber of Commerce. The kids get paid vacations, healthcare and a retirement plan. But they never become an owner, never get any say in how the company is run. Heck, they can’t even drive 5 mph over the speed limit without the boss finding out. And they don’t get to set prices for their labor. Of course in the big picture neither does the father and sons business, and that’s a big part of what’s driving down labor -instead of drafting an estimate based on what your experience and intuition tells you, the sales guy just assumes flat rate for labor, and any chance to lower it is better for sales.

    • Hey my dad also graduated from Pitt in 58. He and my mom drove straight to LA because he got a job at Phillips electronics. Then we moved to Palo Alto and he worked at Melabs and SCM.

  11. ‘I expect the Spanbergering to go national.’ — eric

Probably every one of us remembers buying our first car. I paid $1,200 for mine, a 1968 GTO with four-on-the-floor. Vroom, vroom! GM should have sued for putting feeble 9-1/2 inch drum brakes on a vehicle like that. What were they thinking?

Yet, what is almost never discussed is the insidious, never-ending inflation. From 1790, after the paper-money inflation of the American revolution ended until the early 1930s, the overall US price level was almost flat. Inflation did not exist, and was not expected.

Indeed, after Ape Lincoln’s brief greenback inflation of the 1860s, the general consensus of the late 19th century was ‘Don’t buy real estate — it only drops in value.’ And it did: Lincoln’s Civil War inflation was slowly, painfully sweated out over three decades, after the dollar was relinked to gold in 1871 at the prewar parity.

That was a mistake in retrospect, since it enabled populists such as William Jennings Bryan to rile the struggling masses with cries of ‘Mankind shall not be crucified on a cross of gold.‘

Banksters was their opportunity, creating the Federal Reserve counterfeiting machine in 1913. Now, 112 years on, we’re in another stinking war. Nearly always, war is inflationary. With the US fedgov running a chronic annual deficit, the $200 billion it now needs to finance it will be borrowed or printed. We may give the inflationary 1970s a run for the money.

Irredeemable counterfeit currency is an odious enslavement. It was created to finance WW I. Now it enables permawars for Judaism in the middle east. The Federal Reserve is the enemy of the people, hiding in plain sight.

Meanwhile, the time grows near for the Spanbergering. Mid-April is the deadline for the evil harridan’s gun grab. According to the WaPo, by the time she had graduated the University of Virginia, Spanberger was conversationally fluent in Spanish and “five or six more” languages. I speak three myself:

    https://ibb.co/v6c2tf7T

    • “That was a mistake in retrospect, since it enabled populists such as William Jennings Bryan to rile the struggling masses with cries of ‘Mankind shall not be crucified on a cross of gold.‘”

From a libertarian and populist perspective, Bryan’s “bi-metallism” proposal was commendable. He sought, not to abandon the gold standard, but to introduce silver coinage alongside gold so as to benefit farmers, tradesmen, small business owners, and laborers in particular.

      • Ideally of course central banks and government “standards” for currency and money would not exist. Willing buyers and sellers engaged in voluntary exchange of value would use whatever medium they mutually agreed upon. In a free market, the PM’s would probably and naturally emerge as the most functional.

    • To see your future in VA, just go back thru the last 20 years or so history in WA. Taxes, guns, crumbling roads, environmental straitjackets, soft on crime, sanctuary for the border jumpers we’ve done it all here – and now with Spamburgler you’all are gonna get it, good and hard.

  12. Spanberger and her ilk are Trojan horses. They’re not going to make anything cheaper for the kids. They’re going to deny them the future, too. They’re not going to allow them to have guns or muscle cars even if the kids could afford them.

While we are getting ripped off today to benefit the Israel Lobby and the oligarchs, the Spanbergers are going to rip us off the benefit the queers, the illegal immigrants and the feminists.

We are being flim-flammed by both the “Left” and the “Right.” Nobody gives a fuck about us or what used to be “our” country.

    • Our local area website here in Eastern NC always reports on the “No Kings” rallies and the comments are usually full of abuse from the MAGA red teamers. This time, not so much. To sort of quote one of the much smaller than usual amount of comments, “these days we get a choice between zionism and communism, each a side of the same shekel.” That’s the zeitgeist today.

      • I’m stealing that one: ‘Zionism and communism, two sides of the same shekel.’

And both viciously dishonest and anti-human.

      • “choice between zionism and communism”

Great comment. Both of these systems were brought to us by “The Chosen Ones”. A very powerful group here because of the money and influence they have. Indeed, they think of us as “cattle”.
