A 37-year-old man was shot dead in the street in Minneapolis yesterday by ICE “agents” after one of these “agents” took the man’s holstered pistol, which he was legally carrying. A slowed-down, high-resolution video can be viewed here.
It does not look good. In fact, it looks like a summary execution.
The man – Alex Pretti – can be seen backing away from the ICE “agents,” who pepper spray him and another person as they advance. These words are italicized to make an important point. Pretti appears to be trying to retreat and in many states, you can’t use lethal force against a person who is trying to get away from you. Not if you’re merely a citizen, that is.
It gets much worse.
The video shows a bunch of “agents” scrumming Pretti, who is wrestled to the ground. At this point, the video appears to show one of the “agents” taking Pretti’s legally holstered pistol, which he never pointed at anyone. Moments later, Pretti is shot dead by one of the “agents. ”
This ought to appall everyone but especially “conservatives” who are ardent about the right – and it is a right – to carry a pistol. The fact that one is carrying one ought not to be warrant to kill that someone. Especially when that someone hasn’t unholstered his legally carried pistol.
Some “conservatives” will defend the “agents” who executed Pretti – claiming he was “resisting.” Watching the video, it looks like he was trying to ward off a beating. The expectation seems to be – in some quarters – that we must go limp at the first barked command, fall to the ground and lie there, supinely. Anything less – and anything less immediate – constitutes “resisting” and a “threat” to the “safety” of the armed “agents” of the state.
At which point, they can just execute you.
If you carry a pistol – legally – you might want to think about what might happen to you. But that would never happen! “Conservatives” are law abiding! Well, what happens in the event you get “pulled over” for a petty traffic violation – or maybe you just happent o be out driving and are forced to stop for no reason at all, as at a “sobriety” checkpoint – and the AGW sees your holstered, legally carried pistol – and maybe shoots you dead, because he thought you might shoot him?
Never mind that you didn’t even unholster your legally possessed and carried pistol.
Can you see where this could easily be headed? Do you remember what Trump said? It is worth remembering: “Take the firearms first and then go to court . . . I like taking the guns early . . . take the guns first, go through due process second.”
Can you see Trump saying it again? Can’t have those deranged Leftists – or anyone else – walking around with firearms. Someone might get shot! Best to take the guns from those who might get shot.
For their safety, of course.
“Conservatives” – many of them – will chortle and say this is an example of “TDS.” Trump would never do such a thing. At least not to them. He would only do it to those “insurrectionist” Leftists.
The police state would never turn on “conservatives.”
Well, it appears the summary execution of Pretti might just provide the necessary pretexts. It is early as I type this – just a few hours after Pretti’s execution – but as the sun comes up on this bitterly cold Sunday morning, it is very likely there will be protests in MN. More violence is likely. This could result – and looks like it is going to result – in Trump declaring that there is an “insurrection” and that he must “act” to suppress it.
One “conservative” site that is reporting this – approvingly – uses an image of Trump as Lincoln – both with incandescent glowing eyes and with murderous lightning bolts cracking around them. It is an apt analogy – though many “conservatives” don’t see it quite that way. More finely, they do not understand why it is apt.
Perhaps they ought to try.
Lincoln was the man who waged war on the American people – of the North as well as the South. People forget that Lincoln sent federal shock troops to New York City to quell draft riots – because men who lived in New York had no interest being sent to kill and die down South. Lincoln also laid siege to Maryland, to prevent it from seceding – i.e., to prevent its people from choosing their own form of government, as both the Declaration of Independence and natural law sanction. The same was done to the portion of Virginia that is now West Virginia. Lincoln also threatened to arrest a Supreme Court Justice – Roger Taney – for questioning the legality of Lincoln’s suspension of due process (habeas corpus).
Lincoln then waged a war of annihilation upon the Southern states, for resisting federal authority. It was a full-scale Hut! Hut! Hutting! and it led to the creation of the very thing that “conservatives” used to pretend they did not like, that being an essentially omnipotent federal government. Now they seem to like it very much, because it is their man who is at the head of the thing. 
One wonders how they’ll like it when the Hut! Hut! Hutting! comes to them.
Of course, they think it won’t. They think it’ll just be those people over there – the ones they don’t like – who are on the receiving end of the Hut! Hut! Hutting!

As I remember from when this was happening during the “Biden” administration that most these people were given “temporary asylum” until a future hearing which was usually 2-3 years in the future. Also, I personally would like to hear what the ICE agents have to say about what happened. The protester guy seemed to be highly resisting — the ICE agents were having a very hard time getting the gun away from him, and I assume trying to cuff him. Was the protester guy holding onto his gun? Maybe that’s what was going on. Carrying a gun is totally legal, but come on — all of these deportation protests are volatile and violent — the ICE agents are taking alot of heat and are very concerned about getting shot — that is a real possibility, so they have a right to defend their lives too. Maybe the protester guy was yelling “I keeel you!” or something like that, who knows. So that one agent just figured he’d had enough and felt he had to stop the protester guy. Also everyone is all hopped up in a scuffle like that, people don’t always think perfectly or calmly.
What’s more important is that all of the govt people that frauded the elections so they were not even elected [almost all of them] should be put in jail for life. Billions of people are being tortured, murdered, and/or suffering greatly because of all of these fake unlected govt people, yet some people are all worried about one single democrat / protester / defender of illegal migrants … and most of the migrants probably came directly from prisons in other countries and/or are criminal types.
Priority #1 is fixing the elections — bring back the mechanical voting machines, or at the very least publish all of the ballots and the vote totals, so every voter can lookup their ballot on the state website and see that it is there in the list so they would know that it was counted. PROVE to the voters that their votes were counted. And let anyone run for any office/position with only 20 signatures — no more primary elections (they are just totally unfair). And let people select “none of the above” on the ballot, and let people select more than one candidate for each poll/race if they want to. Fixing the elections will solve ALL of the worlds’ problems, and nothing else will do that.

The facts – as anyone can see – are that Pretti was retreating. Was pushed back several times by the ICE goon who initiated the physical violence. Said goon then sprayed Pretti and another person with Mace. The other person fell, Pretti tried to help her up when he was gang-scrummed by ICE goons, who proceeded to beat him. He never touched his gun. That he had a gun is not justification to shoot him dead like a dog in the street. I also carry. Does that mean I ought to be shot dead when a cop sees I am armed and because I am arguing with him? Or because – if the cop attacks me – I try to ward off the blows?
I hear you, guns are totally legal, but this is a special situation — a violent riot/protest with ICE being chronically targeted over time. I can understand why ICE would be concerned that someone was carrying a gun. So they tried to disarm him … and I saw the videos after that point where they started to try to disarm him … and he was highly resisting being disarmed. So you”re saying that you think that ICE should let people carry a gun to the violent protests. If you were an ICE agent, would you really feel the same way? Those ICE agents probably agree with you 100% about guns — but they have to self defend themselves in that situation too. That seems to make sense to me. I think you’re just over-generalizing this event into saying that no one can carry a gun anywhere anytime. I hate sounding like I’m disagreeing with you, I’m not really disagreeing, I totally agree on the whole rights/gun thing, but this is just a specialized situation/event IMO. As for honest elections, if you don’t care about that, then it seems to me that you just like complaining about problems but don’t really want a solution. Has that been established yet? He was a nurse. Seems much more likely that his drive to help someone who might be hurt got misinterpreted. Well, if they work and take care of themselves and their families, Id’ say they qualify as Americans and I have no problem with them.

If you had children and grandchildren (I have a total of 20!), I suspect that you would be less welcoming to the illegal aliens who have added about 150 million people to the US population in the last 40 years. These additional people drive up the cost of housing, crowd our streets, and strain and crowd schools, courts, hospitals, DMV offices, the electrical grid, etc.
For the most part, these aliens do not have or even appreciate our heritage of liberty and all that that entails, e.g. free speech, gun rights, etc., as evidenced by their faithfully voting Democrat 80-95% of the time. Patrick Henry and John Calhoun mean nothing to them. There can be no real free speech in a multicultural society, as somebody will always be offended. Importing millions of aliens with a foreign language, culture, and history inevitably degrades a country. My progeny will not be able to enjoy the high-trust society that obtained in this country when you and I were growing up.
Regarding “those who work and take care of their families” — Every illegal alien working in the US has a job that an American should have and would have if that alien worked and took care of his family in his own country. When he works in my country, he’s taking a job that my son-in-law or grandson ought to have. And the jobs that my relatives can still get pay less due to the large number of alien workers in the workforce.
Much more could be said on this subject. I know that the “big L” libertarian position on immigration is (or at least was, when I contended with them 20+ years ago) that governments should not have the right to erect artificial barriers that restrict the flow of people. That’s one of the reasons I could never be a big L libertarian. (Note: I’m not saying that you or anybody else here is or professes to be of the big L variety.)
I’m not disputing what he says in the video. I am not apologizing for the agents and officers.
The fact is you and I were not there. We can only rely on secondhand information. It may be reliable but I don’t trust ANYTHING uncritically anymore.

You know in your head that the cop who hassled you over your inspection sticker doesn’t deserve to be shot in the face the moment he walks up. He deserves the courtesy to not be an asshole and walk away from the situation.

If you’re strapped you have to been absolutely sure why you’re there and why you’re engaging in a volatile situation. You don’t go in as a journalist or activist and get to change your role to protector or enforcer at whim.
When the agent engaged him he had to acknowledge that he was armed opposition and handle himself as such. He did not de-escalate or walk away. He became assertive.
These agents are probably vets. They’d understand, embedded reporters and corpsmen are not the same as combatants. At least in the Navy and Marines the corpsmen (don’t know about medics) would not carry a rifle, just a self protection side arm. In the context of a civilian protest I’d suggest that when he decided to carry then he became a potential combatant. That’s not judging if he’s right or wrong on that choice, just that you have to be realistic about your task and purpose.

The Trump administration and the federal government itself are not interested in solving the problem of illegal immigration. If they were, the steps you suggested would actually work. Unfortunately, what they actually seem to be interested in doing is using the illegal immigration problem as an excuse to turn the nation into a police state.

It’s irresponsible to not carry at least one extra magazine. It’s not just the extra ammo but manual of arms dictates ejecting the magazine in a jam. You don’t try to “fix” anything, you rack, eject, reload, rack, repeat as quickly as you can until you’ve met your intention to put rounds down range. If time allows you might go back and try ejected magazines but you have to assume in the moment that you have rounds stuck, not fully seated magazine, a bent magazine lip, broken spring or follower, who knows what. All you know is for some reason a round did not come up into the chamber when it was supposed to.

Minnesota law clearly does not interpret a citizen’s failure to carry ID when otherwise lawfully carrying a firearm to be evidence that the citizen “planned to trigger a mass casualty event”.

The correctness of being required to produce ID on demand should not be a pivot on our rights. It does not say “A well regulated -and properly identified- militia” or anything like that.
But that said, it does fall into the middle ground where it’s not smart to interact or antagonize LEOs. If I’m walking around unarmed I might not carry ID and be more apt to push back than if I’m walking around armed, especially open carry where anyone, LEO or not, should be at condition yellow. You know there’s a gun and you act appropriately.
With CCW the situation is different, a cop would have to be at orange assuming there could very well be a concealed weapon he cannot see. You as his target (right or wrong) need to be aware of this and if someone who’s at orange already (again, doesn’t matter if it’s right or not) makes a demand you need to tread carefully to not push the situation to red.
Asking for your driver license might be an absolute affront to your moral sensibilities but ask yourself “Is this the hill I want to die on?”

Predictably, Generalissimo Trump and his minions wasted no time before approbating the ICE goons and disparaging the citizen, a Registered Nurse, whom they murdered.
According to reports, White House advisor Stephen Miller claimed that Pretti was a “domestic terrorist” who had “tried to assassinate federal law enforcement“. Senior United States Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino stated that the incident “looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement“. And Trump’s DHS Eiswolf-Schlampe assured us that Intensive Care Nurse Pretti was indeed yet another “domestic terrorist” who, brandishing a weapon (and having “multiple dozens” of rounds of ammunition), attacked federal officers, wishing to inflict harm on them.
It’s funny you think there are “conservatives” ;). What we have is people that cry foul when their rights are violated and lament for the constitution to be honored. Then they cheer when the rights of others are violated.
They think the “other” is wrong and deserves what they get. They are no different from modern liberals, except they don’t like trannies and welfare.
They have conserved exactly zero. They normalize the gains of the left and increase the power of government when it suits their desires.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen that on full display since at least as far back as 2001 shortly after 9/11, and people on the “Left” & “Right” have both been guilty of it to some degree….. “Conservatives” cheering W going after “Terrorists” & “Unpatriotic Anti-war types”, and “Liberals” cheering Joe Biden going after “ANTI-VAXXERS” & “Insurrectionists”.
While we’re all getting spun up consider why does the camera in these videos always seem to be positioned to get the scene but miss the critical moments?
Also, if he was shot point-blank with a 9mm or .40S&W in a way that immediately killed him it would be messy. The guy isn’t writhing, which a person does even with a head or heart shot for a few seconds.
This has the hallmarks of being an agi-prop video. It’s still on X several hours later, too. They can manage to shut down a user that merely hints at being anti-Israel in 5 minutes but a snuff video, that happens to benefit the narrative, they can’t find it or put a 18+ warning?

What is really depressing is that none of this is necessary but is being orchestrated by those at the top and they’re quite literally insane and suicidal. I agree with what you say – in general. And in particular re Walz. He is scum. But I cannot look away from the murder of that man the other day. He was not a “threat” to anyone’s “safety” and yet he was shot to death by government agents after they removed his holstered pistol. I also carry. Legally. I think it’s not at all unreasonable to dread being stopped by a cop and shot to death when he screams gun! – and says he “feared for his safety” afterward. If the law is that it’s legal to carry then government goons had better learn to accept that it is the law – and unless a person actually draws his legally possessed pistol, then the government agents have no legit claim that they “feared for their safety.”

Not necessarily defending the cops here, as I’ve said before I agree with enforcing the immigration laws but not the provocative thug tactics.
One argument that sounds plausible is that the cop who was disarming the victim negligently discharged the victim’s Sig 320 CCW piece, and the other cops didn’t know that and lit him up. As much as I dislike the cops I doubt it was a deliberate execution. Cops tend to get trigger happy any time they PERCEIVE “danger.” There have been plenty of cases where they lit up completely unarmed people because they thought they MIGHT have a weapon.
In any case, yes, we have been living under the bootheel of an occupying military force ever since 1861. Avoid the cops at all costs.

Yes. You’re absolutely right. If I recall correctly, a cop in Minnesota did exactly that to a black man who had a CCW and told the cop a couple of years ago. Also in Minnesota there was a Somali cop who shot an unarmed white woman to death in a traffic stop. Then there was the case of the chick cop who thought she was reaching for her taser and fatally shot an unarmed black dude with her Glock. Also in Minnesota, I think.
Any time you interact with the cops, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, there is a danger that they will perceive you to be a threat and beat the fuck out of you or shoot you.
Therefore minimize interaction with them as much as you are able. You do not have 100% control over this, which is why you are under occupation. But as much as you are able to, you should avoid them.
