The Trump regime – just the right word, given its thuggish turn of late – now says that anyone who video records the doings of ICE is a “domestic terrorist.” In other words, to document what the government is doing constitutes “terrorism.” It is of a piece with the doctrine that anything less than immediate submission to an order barked at us by armed government workers constitutes “resisting” and that can (and often does) trigger a Hut! Hut! Hutting!
It gets worse.
In Florida, a woman was visited by armed government workers because she had posted something critical of Israeli-First Rep. Randy Fine on social media. She called him a hypocrite for supporting free speech – if that speech supported the Israeli action in Gaza – while opposing the right of those who do not support it to say so.
Two Miami cops showed up at her home to question – that is, to intimidate her. Because it is intimidating to have cops – armed government workers – show up at your door asking questions. Even if they don’t do anything – this time – it is implicit that they are champing at the bit to do something, next time.
How long before they can?
In Britain, you can be arrested for political deviance. Say – or post – the wrong things and you can expect not just questions but cuffs. This is coming to America. And it is not coming because Kamala Harris came to Washington. If she had, it would have come, no doubt. But the whole point of voting for the alternative to Kamala was that it would not come.
And yet here it is.
In Minneapolis, a woman named Susan Tincher was arrested for following ICE “agents” and video recording them. She did nothing more. She did not “interfere” with their activities – unless you consider video-recording “interfering,” which of course the Trump regime does. She was dragged off to a cell, stripped and had her wedding ring cut off her finger. She was never charged with any crime – because it is not yet a crime to video record the doings of government “agents” in public areas.
But it is clear the Trump regime wants to make it a crime. A serious crime. A “domestic terrorist” is going to get more than a ticket. How long before journalists who write factually about what the government is doing are also Hut! Hut! Hutted! for being “domestic terrorists”?
This, too, has already happened.
Andrew Napolitano describes the case of Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson. Her home was Hut! Hut! Hutted! by armed government workers – federal ones – who ransacked her place and seized her computers. Had she “resisted,” she probably would have been shot.
Her crime? She had committed none that’s on the books. Yet. But she was working on an expose about federal whistleblowers.
That, too, will soon become a “crime.” There were many such “criminals” in Stalin’s gulag and Hitler’s camps.
There are some “conservatives” – whatever that means – who are not concerned. They apparently believe that a police state will never police them. It will only be used to deal with . . . “domestic terrorists.” These latter are the 2026 iteration of the “enemies of freedom” George W. Bush used to hiss about. An “enemy of freedom” was, of course, anyone who did not agree with the Warrrrr nnn Trrrrrr and who expressed unease about such things as the Patriot Act and the creation of a Homeland Security apparat.
Now, some 20 years later, it is “domestic terrorism” to record armed government workers in the performance of their “duty.” But why are they so triggered by the idea of Americans being able to record – and to see – what these “duties” entail? Aren’t we often told – by armed government workers – that if we have nothing to hide, we have nothing to fear?

Thing is, though, this isn’t remotely a 4th Amendment issue. The whole bit about getting your final deportation order is that it’s final. All due process has happened. Someone quoted the 4th in the comments. Read it. This is nothing even close to a General Warrant that the 4th was written to prevent.
Once a murderer has been through all the appeals, up through the USSC, it’s done. Clemency is the only way out of having the sentence carried out. He can’t appeal to the AWFLs in Minnesota to have the case reversed. Same with this. We have a process for immigration, and if the appeals are exhausted, cest la vie.

It is a basic right of free people to record the activities of government officials in public. The argument that it constitutes a “threat to the safety” of these officials is a threat to our safety. To borrow a line: If they have nothing to hide, they have nothing to worry about.

Do you really want to give government officials the “right” to operate in secret? To make it a “crime” to disclose (via video) what they do? This is an example of the reason why “conservatives” are as much the actual enemies of freedom – to borrow a phrase – as the Left. Another example being the “conservative” support for the War on Trrrr as well as the War on Some Drugs. Sure. I’d much rather have complete freedom to record the AGWs. But everyone, everyone has the unqualified right to self-defense. Strip away the qualified immunity, let them shoot the rioters who are burning the cities and otherwise destroying property, and we are good. Yes, they have the same responsibility to stand trial if they transcend the limits of self-defense, and, especially in their case, the defense of other citizens.
Remember, the only reason to have a government is to secure rights of the members of a given society, among the foremost, property rights. The “social contract” is that we agree to defer to the government to protect those rights, and not seek to take matters into our own hands. If they are not doing that, they are in default on the “social contract” and that government is just a gang with no reason to exist.
Weirdly enough, Israel is better at this than the US is. They secure the borders to minimize attacks on the citizenry, they aggressively pursue those who do attack the citizenry, and they even do whatever it is they do that gets the US to back their play.

I’m with you on self defense. But it had better be legit. I have a concealed carry permit and the law says I’d better be able to establish that my life was in peril and that I had no ability retreat when I pointed a gun at someone and shot them. AGWs are held to a much looser standard – and that is the problem, as I see it.

I used to have a permit, but my state went Constitutional Carry. Then I moved to the first state to have Constitutional Carry. Here, even the liberals carry guns.

I think dangerous precedents are dangerous precedents. Over-the-top violence is an example of that. The ICE thug did not need to murder that woman, who was as much a “threat to his safety” as a piece of ravioli. He purposely put himself in the path of the vehicle she was driving, in order to get bumped by the car as she tried to drive away. This gave him the pretext to murder her, which he proceeded to do. He was looking to shoot her. He could easily have just stepped out of the way. They had the woman’s plate. They knew who she was. They could have gone to her home later and given her a ticket or whatever for “obstructing traffic” or whatever petty offense. She wasn’t armed, she wasn’t dangerous. Why not just let her go? Why this ugly business of Maximum Force to enforce the law – even when we’re talking about pretty infractions of laws that entail no harm done to anyone?

There have been many court rulings that filming anything out in the public is perfectly legal. Of course the Trumpenstein administration makes it a point to ignore the law/court rulings. Just to be technically correct, in certain times and under certain conditions it might not be protected. National security exceptions come to mind, filming troop and weapon dispositions would be an example. And publishing some information might also fall under that umbrella for the same reasons.
The thing that’s hinky about all this, is that it’s a military operation in the CONUS, and the ICE guys are acting as troops. But since we’re dealing with a wartime situation, where an invasion has occurred without a recognized army, it is kind of uncharted territory for our constitutional republic.
Trump should have declared martial law right away, which clarifies things, including the correct way to deal with the screeching AWFLs and dykes and Timmy Walz who are lending aid and comfort to the enemy.
Martial law has its own set of dangers, but it would clarify the legal status of what’s going on.

There is no actual “national security” exception in the constitution. That was read into it/invented out of whole cloth much, much later as a post hoc justification/ fig leaf for doing whatever it was they were going to do anyway.
While the words don’t appear, the ability to have national security secrets is in A1S5, “Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy;”.
A 1 S9 also has,”The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.”
A3S3 has,”Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. ”
And finally A4S4 has,”The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”.
So, yes, there are substantial exceptions in the Constitution for national security. Not that anybody in federal government obeys the constitution . But those exceptions are absolutely intended for times like these when the country is in the throes of Invasion and communist revolution.

In 1989 I had a class on the USSR taught by a professor who had actually spent some time there on an academic exchange program. This class had so much important and useful information but one of the things that really stick out now is how was his explanation of how the Stalin personality cult persisted in spite of Khrushchev’s program of de-Stalinization in the 50s and 60s. There were still many who had portraits of Stalin up in their homes and spoke of the need for a “strong leader”. One thing most “conservatives” miss is that the USSR was in most ways a profoundly CONSERVATIVE society not a purple haired LGBTQ+ in site.
Stalin himself is not understood correctly by the same as he was in fact a self-style tsar who modeled himself on Russia’s most powerful rulers (Peter, Catherine, Ivan) than any true belief in Marxism (it was at best a means to an end for him) and that he had most of the original Bolsheviks killed. Stalin was a monster, but he was a different kind of monster than what most people in “the west” thought.
In some ways the Orange Douchebag is EVEN WORSE than Hitler/Stalin in that he has been actively doing the bidding of a foreign country and actively sabotaging his own.
Also most Soviet citizens knew they were being lied to and understood how to “read between the lines” to get a grip on what was really going on. You apparently are not a “real Russian” if you do not believe Stalin was this great, wonderful leader who cared about everyone. To suggest otherwise is like spitting in their face. They simply refuse to see the truth of how evil he was. There is a saying that the Russians helped the allies win World War II in spite of Stalin, and not because of him. Likewise, with Trump and his followers. I have serious doubts they will see the truth, either, even when they are hauled off to a FEMA camp (and do you know what region you are in?) or simply shot because, well, Trump could, and did.
That is quite interesting in that it sounds like their a much more positive view about Stalin among Russians today than there was in the post-Stalin USSR. After Stalin’s death Nikita Khrushchev instituted a program of intensive de-Stalinization which if you have read anything about how he managed to SURVIVE Stalin was understandable and even admirable. There remained some real ambivalence about Stalin’s legacy that continued through the Brezhnev era but the personality cult remained among some of the populace.

Best example I can come up with was in the movie, “Red Dawn”, when the radio announcer (a lady) was giving messages to those in the “Occupied Zone”. Unless you are under an active investigation, no one is actually listening per se. What they are doing is collecting ALL data about you and building a database and storing it indefinitely. One of the things that really pisses me off about cop bootlickers is when they shrug indifferently about cop goon tactics and say “I don’t care, I ain’t done nothing wrong” or “I ain’t got nothing to hide.”
What they don’t realize it that they are not the ones making that determination. The cops are, and the prosecutors are, and it’s entirely subjective.
Avoid the cops at all costs. Never talk to the cops. They are not your friends.
Cop bootlickers are the worst. You are 100 percent correct. Some encounters I have had with police are okay. Some not so good. That said, it’s always in the back of my mind that I could get arrested for doing nothing wrong because it is subjective.
They are predators. They are not us.
