Sticking gas pedals are not unique to Toyota vehicles. The main problem Toyota owners are dealing with - loose or out of adjustment floor mats that jam the gas pedal down - can happen with other vehicles, too. If the little tabs that secure the mat in place aren't fitted correctly, the floor mat may slide forward and bunch up near the car's brake and gas pedals, and could lead to "unintended acceleration." In addition, the cable that connect...

2010 Land Rover LR4
Before there were "SUVs" there were Land Rovers - the four-wheel-drives of the country gentry.  The only thing American-made that was even close was the old Jeep Wagoneer.  Then came the SUV boom - driven by the home equity-affluent middle class. $50,000 SUVs became as common as IROC-Z Camaros once were back in the late 1980s. ...
Muscle cars were slow. I mean, the classic-era ones from the 1960s and '70s. Very few of them made it to 60 mph in less than seven seconds. Most were 15 second quarter-milers, which today is Toyota Camry V-6 territory. No kidding.I know it's not in line with the image - lumpy cams, tire-frying burnouts, menacing hood scoops and all that. ...
2010 Mazda6 - Bigger n' Better?
Size matters - to family car buyers, anyhow.  So it's not surprising that the new Mazda6 sedan is significantly bigger - and also a couple hundred pounds heavier - than the previous version. But it now has as much or more interior and trunk space as the Big Kahunas in this segment - models like the best-selling Toyota Camry and the Honda Ac...
You've probably read articles about fighting traffic tickets - but the reality is many of us just don't have the money to hire a lawyer (average cost to defend a simple speeding charge is around $700) or the time/expertise to challenge a ticket on our own. There are some low-budget/low-hassle alternatives, however. * Plead "Guilty With Ex...

Traffic Law Oddities...

Most states now have mandatory seat belt laws. But no state requires that a motorcyclist wear more than a helmet. So, on the one hand, you can't legally ride around unbuckled inside an air bag-equipped 4,000 lb. steel cocoon. But you can legally ride a 170 mph sport bike wearing shorts, a t-shirt, no gloves or boots ... so long as you've got a helmet on.This isn't an argument for mandatory "gear" laws. It's just an observation about the inconsistent weirdness of our traffic laws.  More examples:The legal threshold defining "drunk" driving continues to go down - it's .08 BAC nationwide and nutty groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving have been pushing for even lower standards, down to as little as .06 or even .04 BAC  - yet it's an established fact that most alcohol-related accidents involve drivers with BAC levels of .10 or higher. This has been well-known for years. Yet instead of focusing on...
