Glitch Updates

Some good – and bad news.

The good news is, the two small glitches have been fixed. The system now sends notifications of replies to comments and the “ask Eric” button works again.

The Forum, however, is totaled. At least, all of the past 16 years of accumulated posts and comments and everything else that was there is gone, for good. My computer guy cannot recover it and I have been unable to get anyone at VBulletin to respond to  my numerous emails and phone calls about it. I – the admin and Great Decider of the Forum – was simply summarily locked out. My log in and password rejected and no way to recover either. So it’s all lost.

I may re-start the Forum from scratch because there were a fair number of people who liked it. But the cost is obnoxious and that is chastening. I will keep everyone posted. In the meanwhile, thanks to all for your patience and understanding!

  1. Is it not possible to install a php forum on the same server as epautos? It would be under your control rather than some totally separate bulletin board provider.

Something I’d like to see is an official EP IRC chatroom. There are many IRC networks to choose from that would facilitate real-time group chat for free outside the influence of big tech censors.

  2. Ask Eric is still giving me an error on all of my browsers and devices.

“Sorry, there was an error. Please be sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled in your browser and try again.”

Cookies and Javascript are enabled, so I don’t know what is going on. I’ve tried emailing my question and it does not seem to have gotten to you. Sigh.

    Thanks for all you do.
