I regularly see an armed government worker – some people still bound by their government school conditioning would use the word “policeman” – who likes to hide by the side of an old building up the road from my house; he snugs his vehicle up against the side of the old building and in the shade of a big tree so that it is very hard to see him.
He sits there quietly, like one of those trap door spiders that hides in a little burrow so its prey cannot see it, waiting for the prey to get close a . . . and the trap is sprung. Out rushes the spider to ensnare its prey. Are not armed government workers who lurk in hiding for their prey similar insofar as regards their tactics? – and does it not beg an important question?
If – as we are assured – the object of the exercise is to tamp down what is styled “speeding” (and accepted as being something not merely illegal but also dangerous by the same people whose government schooling causes them to not think much about the distinction between illegal and dangerous) then would it not make more sense to hide in plain sight? If “speeders” – as people who drive even 1 MPH faster than whatever speed the government’s sign says is the maximum allowed are by definition – are a danger then that danger would be reduced via the obvious presence of speed limit enforcers. But – on the contrary – it is evident that the government wants people to “speed” so as to have the excuse to extract money from as many of them as possible via a tag-team of speed limits set so low almost everyone becomes a “speeder” and so potential prey for the trap-door spider who hides and waits.
This even extends to camouflaging the vehicles used to catch “speeders.” In the past, police – I use the term in this sentence because at one time they were more deserving of the honorific – drove clearly marked, clearly visible police cars. They were often two-tone and had (typically) large-font lettering – POLICE – on the doors and clearly visible bubble gum machine emergency lights on their roofs. They were easy to see and on account of that fact, served as a deterrent to “speeders” who saw them.
Isn’t that what was wanted?
Today, the typical vehicle driven by an armed government worker is very hard to see until it is too late. They are painted in the manner of warships, to be harder to identify accurately, especially from a distance. The POLICE lettering is regularly shaded such that it often cannot be see until you’re already too close and the wig-wag lights are buried behind the grille where you cannot see them until they are turned on and by then it is too late. Even more telling is the way these human arachnids deliberately hide so as to not alert their soon-to-be-victims to their presence.
There is – again – only one explanation that makes sense for this. It is that the whole affair is about money – not “safety.” This armed government I see regularly probably extracts thousands of dollars from his victims each week. Some of this “revenue” – the term used by government-school-conditioned non-thinkers to express what they are taught never to think of as other people’s money, taken from them by the government via its enforcers – ends up paying the enforcer to enforce. The genius of the thing is the way it is intellectually laundered. It is made respectable by making it procedural. Forms to sign and checks to be written rather than having to just hand over money to a strong-arm Guido who shows up at your place of business one day to demand money – or else. The government does the same thing, just elliptically.
In the name of keeping us safe.
That none of us do feel safe whenever we notice the presence of an armed government worker – especially if he is in our rearview and riding our bumper – is extremely telling. Why would people who are not criminals fear and loathe the police? Why, because they are not criminals.
And they are not police.

We had a trapdoor spider growing up.He kept pulling all of us over.We dumped a box of roofing racks in his hiding spot. After a few sets of tires,he quit parking there
The state police around southeastern PA hardly every stop people for speeding. On busy 55 mph limit Route 202, there’s a police presence only on festive holidays (e.g., July 4th) when people are likely to get drunk. Often, even when there is a cop car at the side of the road, drivers just slow down from 75 to 65! Now, I do see a speed/license plate recording device outside their windows now and then, but I suspect it’s set pretty high since I’ve never gotten a ticket in the mail. On the other hand, I’ve seen many lunatic “speed racers” on this highway doing 90 mph and higher, but have never seen one get pulled over.
They are BULLIES! One day I was driving. I had just turned out of a shopping center onto a state road. I was in the left lane and a cop came speeding up on my ass. I wasnt speeding, everything was legal, and he didn’t have his lights or siren on. I was also NOT in the mood that day to be bullied. He just wanted to race car past me but I didn’t move🤣 So a couple more miles up the road he pulls me. He proceeds to tell me that he got “a call” that I was weaving in and out of traffic like a maniac AND I was blowing a police siren. Then he stuck his head in my window and asks, “Do you have a siren in here”?! I said, I want your name and your badge number NOW. He reluctantly gave it to me then ran my DL and came back and said have a nice day. I said I will once I file my report on BOGUSLY pulling someone over. I hope that phone call was recorded because THIS conversation was. It didnt end well for him.
Amen, SueBee – and I’m glad it turned out ok; that you didn’t get the Hut! Hut! Hut! and Stop Resisting! tresatment.

Wow, as a Southerner, I am glad I left the South.
I don’t miss the revenuers. Here they aren’t about revenue. They actually pace the highway so others dont speed too much. There isn’t much of a sales tax either. No state income tax as well. It is nice to go into a store, pick something out, take it to the register and it is the SAME price as marked when rung up.
I rarely see anyone pulled over here. At this point I am surprised how people abide traffic flow signs/signals with such little enforcement. It has to be the same phenomena that has people return their shopping carts to the corral. Most people are naturally good and thus do the right thing as a matter of principle.
You dont know how much freedom you have lost until you go somewhere with more freedom.
I have so much freedom, I can go to the store and buy cannabis. Can’t do that in the South.
Just dont call the cops here. They shoot first, dunno if they even ask questions later. They just paid 2.1 million for shooting a 16 year old girl. As well, I have seen body cam footage of other bad shoots. If you have a weapon, comply or die.
Well, if you feel that way, I’m glad you left the south too.
Granted, Georgia will probably be the very last state to de- criminalize pot, there WAS a reason we were overrated by yanks during the covid mania.
It’s all relative.
Warning to drivers going through North Carolina.
If you go through an interchange down hill beware of the cop hiding on the other side of the bridge. If you’re lucky you’ll see them on the ramp but, often times the go all the way up the berm next to the bridge and they’re nearly impossible to see.
You will never get a ticket going up hill, only down because that’s where they set up. They probably cheat at golf, too.
What will really get interesting, Eric, is that as these new vehicles (that you have been writing about) that may include speed limiters, more and more drivers will be unable to speed, even if they want to or need to. I surmise there will always be the former vehicles who will still be able to drive whatever speed the driver wants. But, it brings up an interesting conundrum for the AGW’s who love to pull people over and write speeding tickets. At some point, they may not have anyone left to ticket (for speeding), due in part, to their own stupidity with saaaaafety. I surmise the tickets will increase for the ones they can dole them out to, or worse.
I beg to differ on one point. I routinely use the term “revenue” when discussing the actions of the AGWs. My comment usually consists of explaining to others that the “cop” sitting by the side of the road is engaging in “revenue enhancement”.
I went to a local city hall panel on red light cameras in my city, since the petty tyrants were discussing red light cameras for “public safety”. The company offering the red lights as a contract service made a presentation, then the chief of police did the same. Both of them tried to sell it in terms of revenue to the city, what kind of programs it could pay for, how it could pay for an extra officer, and safety was only mentioned in passing, it was all about revenue. The decision makers aren’t hiding it.
To his credit, the mayor vetoed it. He ranted that this is supposed to be about safety, not revenue, and that someone else made a good point about red light cameras increasing rear-end accidents, so we’ll leave well enough alone. He’s no longer mayor, so who knows if the next guy has that little bit of principle.
If police wanted to improve safety; go after people weaving through traffic, or moving significantly faster than the flow, or hogging the left lane. This is a lot more work and less revenue, though.
If the PtB was really concerned about safety, they would encourage drivers to actually be competent to drive……and to put down the devices that are so distracting to untrained drivers. But the agenda is not about safety…it’s about money and power, just as the entire feral government is…..
Yeah…when you see a LEO on his cell phone (or texting) while driving, you know such laws have nothing to do with safety. Or, the rules are for the rest of us, and not for them.
A border crossing at the US/Canada border has been busy with traffic until no cars were crossing into the US and the cars entering Canada.
A news story reported that the number of cars has dwindled to not many.
Maybe people don’t want to travel, too much bother, too many headaches, plus the highway patrol is watching everybody.
Fear and loathing, all it really is anymore.
Fixed the four-wheel drive today on the Ford pickup. The actuator worked, just had to do the step-by-step process to solve the mechanical issue.
You watch the YouTube videos on how it is done, it works when you do.
Ohio (my state) and Louisiana are the only two states to still have mayor’s courts. Even though the Ohio Supreme Court has been against them. The mayor need not have any legal training to act as the “judge.”
These “courts” are blatant cash cows. A community near me, that has two interstates running through it, brags that they rake in $80K per month in their mayor’s court.
Another local community proposed to start a mayor’s court, strictly as a revenue source. I send out a number of letters, anonymously, to the businesses there, explaining why I would no longer be patronizing them if this proposal went through. The proposal was abandoned due to business opposition, according to the newspaper.
Luckily with so many police on the roads crime is at record lows with no one even considering committing a criminal act as they will be swiftly apprehended and traffic flows smoothly due to the excellent over site of skilled law enforcement officers.
Oops, I almost forgot to add the /s.
Jersey is terrible, speed limits set low to 65 and it ruins the flow of traffic when a trap door agw is chilling in his little spot on the highway, or even worse, suddenly does a u turn after he spots you
Its 2025, most cars baring a now defunct mitsubishi mirage can easily do 80 minimum, so to answer the rhetorical question, why are the speed limits still set for nearly half a century ago (Shall I give the rhetorical answer?)
I cannot wait to move to FL, should be a lot better down there than up here
If you ever want to see the effectiveness of deterrence look how everyone does 5 under on the highway when there’s a cop car or even a sedan that looks like one (such as those bought surplus) in traffic with them. You’ll get a huge moving plug of traffic around them even in the middle of nowhere lengths of Interstate. More than once I’ve see this, set my cruise control to exactly the speed limit, whereby I may even pass the cop, and get looks of disbelief or even derision from the people I pass. The more I see the more I’ve convinced we’re not supposed to survive, mentally broken as everyone seems to be.
I saw this in action one morning on a busy, two-lane highway. Morning traffic was trying to get to work (our version of it, anyway). State Trooper was in the passing lane going exactly the speed limit (55 at the time, now 60), with two lines of cars at least a mile long behind him. No one dared pass him. I had to laugh, being glad I was not behind the AGW, as I was traveling in the opposite direction. I also had to wonder if his stunt was about keeping everyone from speeding, or if the AGW was just on a power trip that morning, and was looking for a fight on his way to work.
Hi Shadow,
As an aside: That Freedom Living American dude continues to copy/repaste the same vitriol I have deleted at least two dozen times so far. Two more times this morning. He creates new log-ins/handles and styles me a communist douchebag for deleting his posts. A mental patient, first class!
Well, it is YOUR site, and if he thinks you are a commie and hates your view points, I think he should go elsewhere. Lord, it sounds like being a babysitter can be sooo much fun sometimes. Yes, where is an asylum when you need it.
The water cops/AGW’s are even worse. They can stop your boat for a *safety inspection* at any time without probable cause. I watched a video where a boat was in the process of rescuing another boat which was taking on water, which the sheriffs wanted to do a *safety inspection*. They arrested the captain because he admitted he had an alcoholic beverage several hours ago. It has gotten so bad that Governor DeSantis and the Florida legislature passed a statute that the water AGW’s can’t randomly stop boats unless they have definitive probable cause (isn’t that part of the constitution anyway?). This won’t stop them but might slow them down a bit. DeSantis has been doing and saying some very good things lately; Boating Freedom Act signed, No property tax proposal. He is gaining momentum for a presidential run. I hope this is not all BS.
It’s increasingly obvious that nearly everything related to government, including the “law enforcement” aspect is all bullshit. All of it.
Government is nothing more than a thief – and when do you ever benefit from a thief?
Eric: “If – as we are assured – the object of the exercise is to tamp down what is styled “speeding” (…….) then would it not make more sense to hide in plain sight?”
Absolutely. But it would exacerbate the problem of traffic slowing way below the posted limit as each driver spots said cop. Nothing is more annoying than having traffic slow to 50 in a 70 zone on an Interstate because two of them are parked in the media with a box of donuts. Americans are well conditioned.
I’ve been the victim of the Mexican policia’s roadside mordita. I went the wrong way down a one-way street in Mexico City. The dirty bastard cop kept his hand on his pistola the whole time demanding that I pay him money (threatening me with jail). He started out with a demand for 20,000 pesos (about $1,000). I had to control myself from laughing in his face, as I was well aware of the game. He kept negotiating against himself over the course of about 20 minutes down to about 5,000 pesos ($250). I continued to just respond “no entiendo” to his demands. Finally, I had a $500 peso bill (about $25) and approx $15 in singles in my wallet (never carry much cash or show anything of value when driving in Mexico). He gladly agreed to accept it. He very specifically instructed me to fold and hide the money under my ID and then hand it to him that way. He then feigned inspection of my ID, palmed the cash, gave me back my ID and sent me on my way with a smile.
I find that treatment much more honest than what we get here in the states. I often think, in Mexico, a simple DUI might cost you $250 – $500 at the roadside, whereas in the states, you get arrested, jailed and prosecuted for a year, which ends up costing you $10k or more and then it’s “on your record.”
The trick is to stay out of Mexico DF. Guadalajara is bad but not nearly as much. At the moment, the Revenuers are nailing people for license plate frames and no bumper mounted front plate so I would suggest: stay out of GDL as well.
As far as the rest of Mexico, there are little problems since the National Guard took over patrolling the highways from the Federales. There are many well-paved Autopistas in different States where one can drive at his own pace. 130-140Km/h (81-87MPH) is pretty normal and 160+ (100MPH) is not a big deal. Also, the Mexicans keep right except to pass. They are much better and more courteous drivers. If you are stopped, protocol is to get out of the car, meet the Revenuer in front of his car and be friendly. Offer him something (I always carry a bag of candy bars), make a little small-talk and get around to making things right. Start at 200-300 Pesos and go from there.
I remember thinking it was weird when they started putting the light bars inside the vehicle but now they’re so well camouflaged you can’t tell it’s a cop car until you’re almost next to it and then it’s too late.
We had a sudden increase in highway patrol activity here in CA in May also. Suddenly they were everywhere every day. Our CHP have new vehicles and some have such subdued graphics you can barely identify them as law enforcement even when they’re right behind you. Black on black with no light bar at all. Now their presence has lessened.
I noticed a sharp increase in traffic stops during the month of may, enough that I bought a radar detector. I hadn’t seen that many traffic stops since the 1980s when the speed limit was 55 mph everywhere. My radar detector is a Uniden R4. I run it in conjunction with Waze so that I can be aware of when they are out. Houston, TX is still fairly lightly patrolled compared per mile of highway compared with more rural areas. Over the last week, the patrols have slowed down quite a bit, but I believe that there will be more random activity from here on in.
I am in the process of arming every family vehicle with someting to sniff them out.
I tend to run 10-15 mph over the speed limits. 25 mph over on an urban interstate and I tend to stay at less than 100 mph on a rural. 100 mph is the magical number that will end you up in a higher speeding category with no court options.
I have seen some of those police cars with the painted over decals. Crap paint jobs.
I despise these people.
It’s called “subdued graphics” the most common example being flat black lettering on a shiny black vehicle.
Swamprat, been running that detector for a long time. I’ve run many different brands of detectors for over 30yrs. I stopped for a little while and kept getting pulled over, so I went back to them. I too drive way above the fake limits all the time.
It’s almost never an issue on interstates. Where they get you is local county and town roads, and this is where a detector is invaluable. Saves me 1-2 times a month.
That particular model is almost too good. It picks them up way way too far ahead, so I slow down ‘where is he?’, then there he is. I’ve learned to keep going fast until the bar graph turns red.
Yes, lots of false alarms, especially in urban areas, but I’ve learned the difference over the years, and it’s still worth it.
Where do you guys purchase your radar detectors, and what brand do you recommend?
Re detectors: My 25 year old Valentine One
works perfectly. New detectors I’ve tried,
seem to be striving for maximum range,
resulting in constant, annoying, false alarms.
If buying today, I’d want to be able to return
unit if too many false alarms.
Hi Shadow,
The Valentine 1 is in my opinion the best unit – strongly recommend. I knew Mike Valentine and V1 advertises here, fyi. But I am not recommending the V1 for that reason. The thing works is what matters!
I clicked on the link from your site here, Eric. Do you recommend the V1 Gen-1 or the newer, Gen-2?
Hi Shadow,
I’d get the Gen 2. I have a Gen 1 which has been a great friend to me – saving me from possibly going to jail several times. But it needs to be updated to filter out the crap emanating from “safety” tech. The latest V1s do that. Get one. Yes, they’re pricey. But what is the cost these days of even one “minor” speeding ticket? Get two within five years and your insurance is likely to go up by 50 percent.
If “officer safety” is such a concern, then police cars should be more, not less, visible. In fact, the most dangerous part of traffic stops is not getting attacked, but getting hit by another vehicle.
You’d think the unions would be all over the safety issue. Who hasn’t seen a dashcam video showing an AGW dressed in all black handing out a ticket to someone parked in a half-sized breakdown lane and getting clipped by a passing vehicle? Oh sure they put “moved over for first responders” up on the message boards, but when someone’s Hogging the left lane, where are they going to move over to, exactly?
When I’m in charge, first thing I do will be to order all police cars to be painted up like the British do, white with lots of reflective yellow tape. The Bobbie’s uniform will be more visible than a utility worker. And daily inspection for cleanliness.
High visibility must be mandated for all police cars and officers.
On another topic, here in Michigan, I’ve seen Michigan State Police cars on a traffic stop with their “ass end” sticking out into traffic on freeways when they could easily pull completely out of the traffic lanes. They must have a “death wish”.
Around here in coastal NC, they’ve gone so far as to put a number of little pieces of flair, such as bumper stickers and the like on their deep blue late model Dodge chargers so as to look even less like cop cars. It’s hard to tell which of the FOUR layers of laaaarrrrr enforcement you’re even dealing with. The visual transformation of appearance from deterrent to bandit continues apace.
‘it is evident that the government wants people to “speed” ‘ – EP
Absolutely. Then they can use that as pretext to satisfy a black robed lawyer that they were justified in stopping a random citizen to conduct further searches for additional crimes.
Imagine signing up to supposedly helping those in need and rounding up criminals, then to spend a career monitoring the average Joe so as to impede his progress in the name of “enforcing” non crimes. I would feel baited and switched.
But the Kool Aid is strong, and most of them probably think they are doing the Lord’s work by keeping the rest of the “potential criminals” free from the criminals who travel what someone, somewhere has decided is too fast.
Control is the name of the game, and the police are the army by which it is enacted upon those who have managed to escape the government indoctrination centers without a tongue on the boot.
They also want people to speed so that they have an excuse to go sniffing around for other things.
I rural 2-lane road near me has been infested with the bastards lately because the Department of Homeland Security has been giving local cops grant money to patrol it, as it is near the border.
Bastards damn near got me two days in a row and I was moving along at a pretty good clip, once in the car and once on the bike.
LOL I had been doing 90 going up a hill on the bike and backed it off to just below 70 when I crested the hill and the son-of-a-bitch was right there. THAT was close. He was obviously giving people some leeway as the speed limit there was 55 so I dodged a bullet.
Hi X,
Yup – and sons-of-bitches is just right. It is what they are. The SOB I see almost every day also “pulls people over” for out of date tags/inspection and other such crap that has nothing to do with anyone being harmed in any way. Sons of bitches, indeed.
You’ll really love this guy, then:
Police officer sentenced for raping handcuffed woman during traffic stop
https://www.al.com/crime/2025/05/former-alabama-police-officer-sentenced-for-raping-handcuffed-woman-during-traffic-stop.html
Hi X –
Just 15 years? The bastard will still be in the prime of his life when he is released – and that assumes he serves the full sentence. Hopefully, he will get serially sodomized by another inmate of girth – who hopefully also has AIDs.
As usual the article starts off by stating “former police officer”. This gives the impression that the slug was, at some point, an AGW. This is to divert attention from the fact that he committed the crime while a cop and under cover of legal authority. In other words, it was BECAUSE he was a cop he did it. He only became “former” when they only fired him because they had no other choice.
Stating the actual fact that he did it with a GovCo issued badge and gun kinda messes up the “all cops are heroes” mantra.
I think speeding used to be the primary pretext for stop and frisks but these days they hoover up every thing from every sail fawn periodically via “dirt boxes” and the AI tells them if there is something, anything actionable in it. Then the ALPRs and the streetlight cameras do the rest. It’s so precise they might even ignore run of the mill speeding case to focus on a hapless meth head texting about his latest score.
I don’t carry a sail fawn but my 11 year old car radio “sizzles” when I pass these things or one is pointed at it. I think newer vehicles are designed to “accept” this interference better.
