There’s a story – it may be true – that Nixon (back when he was president) thought it would be a fine idea to make the North Vietnamese and the nuclear-armed Soviets who backed them believe he was irrational and volatile enough to push the button, so as to bluff them into kowtowing.

Our Nixon seems to also believe it’s a fine idea to convey to the Russians that he just might push the button. Only this time, the Russians might just do it first. Trump’s announced sending of nuclear-missile-armed submarines close to Russia means the Russians would have less warning and less time to react to a first-strike. This no doubt makes the Russians uneasy. It probably makes them more likely to consider a first strike as a preemptive measure – and why not? The United States is run by a cabal that regularly engages in such, though not yet with nuclear weapons and (naturally) not yet against a nuclear-armed nation. The cabal that runs the United States prefers to rain conventional death on nations that can’t do much about it, such as Iran (on behalf of Israel).
But you see the point. Or rather, the hypocrisy. No doubt the Russians see it and tire of it. We – Americans are supposed to not see it and hate the Russians because they see it (and tire of it).
What, exactly, is Trump hoping to accomplish by bellowing demands and authorizing overtly threatening things such as edging our underwater nuclear “deterrent” closer to Russia, the better-to-nuke-them-with? This is something his senile grifter predecessor never did and that’s a measure of just how strange things have become. One of the main reasons people voted for Trump was to end the god-damned wars rather than incite worse ones. Why is he pushing the Russians to push the button? It cannot be Because Democracy, since the Ukrainians are ruled by a dictator who cancelled elections. It isn’t because America is threatened in any way by the Russians hashing things out with a former Russian province. It certainly isn’t because the American people are demanding it. Politically, it is idiotic because it (like the Epstein Business) is alienating people who supported Trump. There is no “upside” that makes any good sense.
So, why? 
Well, because war is the health of the state. It not only shuts up those who raise questions about what the state is up to, it places them in the position of being enemies of the state. Herman Goring, the head of the German Luftwaffe and probably one of the smartest of the leadership cabal of the Third Reich, explained it thusly:

If NATO were disbanded at the opportune time (after the demise of the Soviet Union), then the thought of war against Russia would be unnecessary.
NATO’s purpose was to protect Europe from the (imminent) threat of a Soviet invasion, which didn’t make much sense. The Soviet/Russian way of fighting a war was to wait for an attack, then draw the enemy into your territory, where they could surround the enemy and wait them out, while constantly attacking from all sides. In other words, they weren’t going to attack unless attacked first from Europe. And the closest point they could invade Russia from was the eastern edge of the Ukraine.
If the US were to pull away from NATO, and Europe, then Europe would see the US as a paper tiger, and will abandon US protection and the US dollar. TL;DA.
There might be another reason for provoking Russia. With a nuclear war, maybe 2/3 of the country is wiped out and that helps to satisfy the depopulation agenda. Once America falls, the rest of the world is a piece of cake. Think of all those payouts and freebees that will be eliminated. By declaring the ultimate emergency, our putrid DC Swamp can completely take over what is left of the country. I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.
See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin’ dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I’m gonna play their own game, and I’m gonna destroy ’em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin’ awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I’ve always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded motherf*cker. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn’t know and I’m vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was — ’cause I was really into bein’ clean and on the ball — I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.
So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn’t believe the smell. They were ridiculin’ me and pushin’ me around and I was cryin’, but all the time I was laughin’ to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, “Oh my God, put those back on! You f*cking swine you!” Then they had a urine test and I couldn’t piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin’ up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin’ up. So I went home and cleaned up.

Scott Ritter has some excellent posts on Substack pointing out how Russia has a “dead hand” system that will automatically launch all their nukes at the USSA if we somehow managed to take out their leadership. Our insane neocons think they can call Russia’s bluff, I think we should launch Lindsey Graham at Moscow instead.

Not that I am any fan of the DJT saber rattling. But judging by the Iranian war he appeased the Israelis and the neocons (sorry for that redundancy) with, maybe the plan is to defuse tensions by letting the toddler hurt himself a little bit? Let them have a limited war with Russia to learn that it’s a really bad idea? It shouldn’t cost the US tax donkeys more than a few billion in capital ships and a few thousand of their sons and daughters.
If so it is unlikely to work. Israelis/neocons never learn, always lie, always double down. The Russians are like their AKs, cheap, effective, serious, and capable. Contrast this with modern US military hardware, grossly overpriced, ineffective, incapable, and inadequate.
In aerospace we used to joke that the Russians built their space stations out of pig iron while we used titanium and such. But we knew MIR hung in there all those years partly because it was built like a tank.
We pitted M-14s against SKSs and found out the same lesson. Of course, cigarette filters and WD-40 “fixed” the M-14s. GI engineering superseded Springfield Armory engineering. A little sand and water in the SKS made it run better.
Good comparison between neocon jews and Russians. If we really wanted peace in Ukraine, peace would prevail. Without our aid the Ukes would show up at the negotiating table in short order, and in good faith. Not full of hubris and false bravado backed up by our MIC. Heck, Ukraine isn’t even a real country.
Love both AK and M-14. The M-4/AR15 is crap. The weapon of a dying police state. Springfield armory 3O8, OTOH, shoots lights out at 2OO-8OO+yards, or as far as the eyes can see without optics. I’ve shot holes in silver dollars with mine. The AK, not so much. But as far as dependability, the AK surpass the M-14 by a country mile. Also, she’s not finicky about what you feed her.

I have an old SKS but it doesn’t feed reliably and I could never get aftermarket “banana ” magazine to work well. So I got . . . an AR….
I have an AR. Rarely take it out. They’re good from the perspective of always being able to find ammo and mags. Better though, get an authentic AK. Zastava, Arsenal, and most any eastern Europeon versions are really solid. Its true about how much abuse they will take, its a lot. The SKS is a problem unless you’re OK with the factory 5 round. Still, the 7.62 is a great hunting round compared to 5.56/223 imo. So, even with 5 rounds and open iron sights its pretty good for hunting deer, or putting down a rabid stray.
Norman: M-14 was a fine design for the range, or maybe even a war in Europe. But humid jungles in Vietnam were not a good home for it. It was a boon to WD-40. The developer used to brag that all those GIs issued M-14s begging their moms to send a can ASAP made the brand.
Standard SKS box magazine is 10 rounds. I have a bunch of 10 round stripper clips, so reloading is easy and fast. I also happened to get some of the Russian hollow points before that was shut down. Lacquered steel cases, but they stay fresh and shiny in a house.
I have mine mainly as my “KEEP OFF THE GRASS” device. Plenty of accuracy and punch for that.
Its been a while since I’ve handled an SKS, thought it was five. I stand corrected. Couldn’t agree with you more about the M-14.
My Springfield M14 has the shorter barrel and the synthetic stock, always wanted one, only picked it up three years ago. It feels more substantial than the AK, almost majestic like a 3O.O6, but it doesn’t like every kind of 3O8 round. My AK will run anything 7.62 with nary a misfire or jam. Still have some of that old Russian ammo myself.
I would go with the AK for anything other than ‘get off my lawn.’ This M-14 has the nice rail system I can easily put different accessories on and off. My favorite is the strobe/flash light. If I need to see something outside at night its great that my light just happens to be attached to a rifle. Its almost taken the place of my shotgun in the middle of the night when the boss tells me, ‘get up and go see.’
I’m planning on brandishing it from my front yard if Anti-fa ever rolls through here. Being black it has the scary gun factor, as opposed to the wood stocks of the AKs

Yup! And – at the risk of political incorrectness – Goring was (unlike Trump) a man. A decorated war veteran who put his own ass on the line. Even at the end, he acted like a man. Alone among the Nuremburg defendants, he didn’t beg for mercy or quiver in fear. He even managed to cheat the hangman. This was a man that could be respected.
He was unapologetic about living the fine life too. It didn’t even make him unpopular with the general public (in fact he was probably the most well liked Nazi in the day) He loved fine food, cars, planes, art, big houses, women etc. What he couldn’t buy he just stole.
