Dracula is considered a baddie because he sucks the blood of unwilling victims. But – to his credit – the bloodsucker doesn’t think he has a right to the blood he sucks.
Then there’s Rivian.
This vampire objects to the “loss” – a very strange usage in context – of $100 million in “revenue” it can no longer suck from the marrow of other vehicle manufacturers, who are no longer obliged to buy “credits” from Rivian (and Tesla and other electric vampiric operations) to “offset” their “carbon footprint,” because the Orange Man “rolled back” the regs and fines that forced them to do so.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
Electric truck maker Rivian says the rollback of fuel economy rules in the U.S. is holding up $100 million of revenue, a sign of how changes to automotive policy under the Trump administration are starting to hurt the electric-vehicle industry.
Rivian and its rivals have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue selling credits tied to the nation’s fuel economy rules. But after the Trump administration removed penalties for violating those standards, the nation’s top automotive regulator stopped issuing paperwork necessary to finalize those credits, leaving EV makers in the lurch.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the change was part of moves to overturn Biden-era EV rules and address Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards, known as CAFE. NHTSA is focusing on fixing CAFE standards to make cars more affordable again, a NHTSA spokesperson said. 
This obliges the vampires to find a new source of blood to suck, which will be difficult absent what is styled “government support.” The latter being something akin to the man who makes sure to open the window for Dracula and direct him to the bedroom where the victim sleeps.
Now the window has been slammed in the count’s face – and he’s pissed!
With any luck, he’ll soon go broke.
The effrontery of Rivian and Tesla is something to behold. Both of these operation are not just electric vampiric operations that feed off the marrow of healthy victims, using the government to provide the victims. They are boutique operations that cater to a clientele of affluent buyers. In Rivian’s case, extremely affluent buyers. The base price of the least expensive device it sells – the R1T pickup – is just shy of $70,000. The only people who can afford to buy a $70k vehicle are very affluent people. Such people, by definition, can afford to pay their own way. They certainly ought to be expected to pay for their indulgences.
The Left – which is Red rather than Blue (the switcheroo is interesting) loves to preen about need justifying taking things from people to give them to other people, the “needy.” It is hard to make a non-effronterous case that anyone needs a $70k vehicle. Maybe it is nice to own one. It is also nice to own a private airplane. Need doesn’t enter into it. (Not that anyone’s “need” entitles them to take.)
If Rivian and Tesla at least made devices that average-income people could afford, their vampirism would be slightly less effronterous. How about a sub-$20k EV that didn’t need 1,000-plus pounds of lithium-ion battery to store the electricity necessary to get a device to 60 MPH in three seconds but which could get a person to work and back with the AC or heat on, without having to be recharged in between?
Well, the very affluent would not find that appealing. Rivian and Tesla depend on the same factors that sell BMWs and Cadillacs and Mercedes-Benzes – with the virtue-signaling cherry on top. It is not about their customer’s “concern” about “climate change.” It is about their customers’ concern about being seen to care, while having everything the rest of us don’t because we can’t afford it. The image of that horse-faced hypocrite John Kerry exiting his private plane at Davos – to attend another “climate change” confab – says 1,000 words in one picture.
For now, Rivan and Tesla will have to try to earn rather than take money. That’s likely to prove to be as difficult as Dracula persuading people to let him suck their blood.

Newsmax aired the Holocene temperature chart annotated with warm and cold periods on a show yesterday. I could not believe it, finally, a news station actually showing the world a chart that the Holocene Optimum (aka highest temperatures of the interglacial) – and they actually talked about how the Minoan, Roman, and Mideval Warm periods were warmer than today.

What a racket for vaccine manufacturers to bribe governments to make more & more jabs MANDATORY for children to go to public school (which likely culminated in the U.S. & various state governments’ attempt in 2021 to make COVID jabs MANDATORY for adults to work in certain sectors like medical & fire fighting) and enjoy immunity from being SUED for harms caused by their jabs thanks to a nearly 40 year old law. Talking about the “red-blue switcheroo”; the 1988 election is when that took place. My late father kept a 1984 election electoral map news paper clipping of Ronald Reagan’s 49 state sweep. The map was all blue except for red Minnesota. The “news” media made the unilateral decision to switch colors after 1984. Red back then was a color used by communist regimes and a little too close to home describing the democrat party.
As for Rivian and others, they need a crash course in basic free market economics to make a desirable product that the masses want and can afford or go out of business. And that is a good thing.
