Why is it that authoritarian collectivist states regularly use the word “democracy” to describe themselves? This alone ought to suggest something about what “democracy” actually is – as opposed to what some try to get you to believe that it is. Even more telling is that wherever you hear the most about “democracy,” there’s very little of it in practice.
People are told by the authoritarian collectivists of both political parties in this country that America is a “democracy” and that “democracy” is the ideal and that it must be preserved. Well, to begin with, “democracy” was considered almost a curse word by the generation of men who produced the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution, with its Bill of Rights. They despised “democracy” because in theory it is majority rule, which works out to mob rule, in practice. The majority/mob is empowered to do anything it decides to do to the individual, who therefore has no rights that cannot simply be voted away. In practice, “majority rule” is really minority rule, because it is always a minority that insists its represents the majority by a kind of ineffable and open-ended proxy power.
This is the inherent tyranny that is “democracy.”
Consider how “democracy” operates in this country. The masses are allowed to vote – for either of two supposed representatives chosen by a minority (i.e., the people who control the apparatus of the political party, who are inevitably the very rich and so by definition an even smaller minority). The almost-never-touched-on fallacy of “democracy” is that by a process of political osmosis, a man (or woman) “of the people” spontaneously percolates upward to “represent” the “will” of “the people.” In fact what happens is the power brokers who control the party apparatus select their candidate for office, who is then put forward as if “the people” had selected this person. It is something like the belief many people have that there is variety at the supermarket when in fact almost everything they see on the shelves is produced by a small handful of industrial food cartels that own various brands and market them as if they were the product of independent producers.
“The people” then get to pick which authoritarian collectivist that was chosen for them by a tiny minority (in most cases, just a handful of powerful men and women who are the key players within the party apparatus) will “represent” them, which has a very “democratic” sounding feel – which is why it sells so effectively. The idea of being represented sounds good to most people. Many probably associate political “representation” with legal representation; i.e., when a lawyer represents a person in court. There is however an important difference in that when you hire a representative such as a lawyer, he is your employee. He works for you. If he does not do what you ask of him – if he does things you did not ask him to do – you are at liberty to fire him and you may even be able to get some of your money back.
People in “democracies” are conditioned (via government schools and corporate propaganda) to believe that political “representation” is a similar thing or even the same thing, essentially. That “representatives” are also employees who can also be fired. That they work for us – the stupid (the pathetic) cry of a person attempting to argue with a cop. In fact, we work for them – in that we are compelled to pay for their so-called “services,” in the case of both the politician in a “democracy” as well as the cops who enforce “democracy.” The so-called “representative” is at liberty to do whatever he decides to do, irrespective of the specific wishes of any particular voter or even the majority of those who voted for him. An excellent example to make the point is the current president of the United States, who was elected chiefly because those who voted for him believed him when he told them he would not start any new wars. Well, now what? The “democratically” elected president autocratically did whatever he wanted to do – in defiance of the “will of the people.”
So, “democracy” is something worse than the old saying about three wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner. It is worse because the sheep goes along with this – because he has been conditioned to believe in this. He believes his vote counts. He believes if he votes harder next time, maybe he won’t be for dinner.
Those powdered wig men of 250 years ago understood what “democracy” was and did their best to constrain it. Two hundred-fifty years later, it is unbound, chiefly because probably nine-out-of-ten Americans believe they think they know what “democracy” is – and that’s why they’ve been getting it, good and hard.

Not only is “democracy” less than advertised, it directly destroys any and all rights. There is nothing good about it. Like any other form of government, it’s predicated on it’s assumption of authority to kill you if you disobey.
Earlier warnings by men such as Nock, Spooner and Mencken fell on deaf ears. Your writings here will be well received by most. However, the battle extends beyond the electronic pages of EPAutos. There, the booboisie will continue in their 8th grade “Civics” class delusional bromides and put their hand over their heart, pledge allegiance to Almighty GovCo and full-throatedly sing the National Fight Song as this once great Ship of State slides quietly into the murky waters of history.
Morning, Mark!
Yup. I can almost hear the initial strains of the odious Lee Greenwood song. It’s the anthem of Our Democracy.
Amen.
It includes what is arguably the most blasphemous lyrics ever written:
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
You see, Rights are not “Endowed by The Creator”, they are a benefit provided by the U.S. Military. Freedom is free. It’s a gift from God and only Satanists and GovCo (or, do I repeat myself?) try to take it away.
