The best thing about BMW as a brand is that it is generally more affordable than most exotic vehicles. Why would anyone care what a “celebrity” drove? At least half of these “entertainers/actors/celebrities” I have never heard of to begin with, and I’m sure that most of us could care less what they drove. Gearhead types like us, on a site like this, would be interested in aspects of vehicles that most of these celebrity people have no idea even exist, like engine design, displacement, transmissions, tires, wheels, etc. I would expect virtually all of these people look at vehicles as a way to attract attention to themselves and as a way to boost their visibility, not for the intrinsically interesting aspects of the vehicle. Bet you won’t see any of these people driving F150’s, AMC Pacers or Chevy Monzas anywhere in this lifetime.
I wonder how many of these vehicles are actually something they want and how many are just put into a contract by their agent as part of a deal? Or how many are just given to the celebrity from the manufacturer to be seen? Jay Leno seems to be pretty up front about how manufacturers get him early access to new models like the mid-engine Corvette, because they know he attracts a big audience of car enthusiasts. My guess is that he probably gets a fairly long “test drive,” and if he does decide to buy, the employee pricing too.
