The headline is the question many of us are asking. So what’s the answer? His recent actions – especially the Trump-as-Jesus thing he posted the other day – come across as almost unbelievably stupid. Is he that stupid?
Or is it something worse?
Some believe he is that stupid. That he’s literally the “low IQ” person he says those who intelligently question his stupid actions must be. Tucker Carlson is one such target. He was accused by Trump of being “Low IQ” for expressing bewildered outrage that Trump would issue an almost unintelligible, profanity-laced screed threatening mass murder on Easter, a holiday of some importance to the Christians who generally support Trump. It seemed like a very Low IQ thing to do since it served only to alienate his increasingly uncomfortable supporters – including Tucker, who has a huge audience. Has Trump never heard that line about not defecating where you eat?
Apparently not.
The Jesus Trump thing came soon afterward. It has – predictably – alarmed Christians, who generally do not support what they consider to be idolatry. Yet Trump decided to put out an image of himself dressed in the robes of Jesus, applying his holy healing hand to a wounded soldier with one hand while holding divine light in the other. It was both very weird and very stupid – at least on the face of it.
Why? Does the president really have nothing better to do than publish these gratuitously stupid images that he has to know will be perceived as insulting and deranged by his supporters? Never mind the ammo it gives to those who never supported him. Why is Trump doing that? Isn’t helping your enemy when you didn’t have to a good working definition of stupid?
It is possible he’s exactly that.
Trump’s intelligence is more like a combination of effrontery and cunning. He does things more intelligent people refrain from doing because intelligent people shy away from the sort of hyena-snatching-a-piece-of-meat thing that Trump excels at doing. They respect rules because they understand that, in the end, if there are no rules then everyone loses. Of course, a sociopath is blind to this reality, which is another working tautology for stupid. Screwing everyone over works for awhile. Even a long while. But – inevitably – it stops working.
Trump may be so sociopathically stupid that he cannot restrain himself from revealing his contempt for his own supporters. Even Ted Bundy – a sociopath and a psychopath – had the smarts to at least pretend that he wasn’t a serial killer. To show a handsome face to the jury.
Maybe Trump is losing his mind. That could account for the stupid things he’s been doing lately. He is almost 80. As old as Joe Biden was three years ago, when signs of dementia began to manifest. One of the signs of dementia is erratic behavior and strange – often untoward – utterances as the mind begins to lose its former ability to meter thought and refrain from saying things out loud that the mind used to know were not to be said out loud.
This happens. It is always sad when it happens. But it is tragic when it happens to a man in Trump’s position because the consequences involve the fate of hundreds of millions of other people. Grand-dad saying weird things at the table is just a family thing that is kept within the family. When the president of the United States says weird things, publicly, it is an alarming matter.
On the other hand, maybe he is not stupid. Maybe he is something else.
This war thing suggest that possibility, as does the Jesus thing. It suggests deliberate destructiveness. An intelligent person can see this, plainly. No intelligent person in Trump’s position would have authorized the positing of the Jesus thing. An intelligent person would have fired the person who created it (Trump is unlikely to have created it as he is an 80-year-old man and not likely to be deft at the art of photoshop/creating AI images) for being an imbecile time-waster. Don’t you have work to do? Get the Hell out of here. You’re fired!
Instead, he has people in his employ who conjure these things for him. In other words, he sanctions this sort of work. Just the same as he sanctioned this stupid, evil war that is probably just beginning. The Iranians haven’t budged as far as opening the Strait and aren’t likely to. Trump – unless he is an imbecile himself – has got to know this is going to have devastating repercussions for the world and so for America. So why would he have done all that he is done?
Why, indeed.
He is either a very stupid man – or a very evil one.
It is possible he is both.

Within the last few months, we buried two of my wife’s uncles and her dad, the last of their generation. Her dad was 1 of 20! siblings, the offspring of a couple of Swiss emigrants who risked it all to come to America in the late 1800’s (imagine!). My wife and I are now the “older” generation of the family.
We are not long for this Earth. Time is fleeting.
At my age, I’ll not spend a single precious second of my time worrying about the goings-on of far away places, people and events of which I have no control, nor want control of. That kind of worry is for the young.

My own is similar, in that in my judgment, based on known facts about Trump, is it not unreasonable to suspect he has something very unsavory in his past that is now being used against him. I would not suspect Tom Massie in this regard because I am unaware of any evidence or even allegations that he has been involved in such things. But Trump has said some very strange things about his own then-teenaged daughter and it is undeniable that he palled around with Epstein. It is on video. There have been numerous sordid allegations about his private conduct with women, including women who were effectively under his power when he was the owner of beauty pageants. I am not saying he is a child molester. I am saying his known actions do not make that an implausibility on the face of it.
His obsequious deference to “bibi” also speaks volumes.
Even John Mearsheimer said it’s possible he’s being blackmailed. That’s a pretty strong statement from a guy like him.

In assaying Trump’s intelligence, I might be overemphasizing his inability to use the English language well. His vocabulary is severely limited, and he rarely forms a complete and well-thought-out sentence — much less an entire paragraph. And rather than using the appropriate words to clearly express a thought, he just capitalizes any word anywhere for emphasis. If, like many people, he thinks in words, then his thinking is shallow and muddled.
The Israelis have been trying for a long time to get the USSofA government to attack and destroy Iran. They pressured Clinton back in the 1990’s and pressured Bush the Younger when he was president. The Israelis told the Bush administration that “Iraq was a problem but Iran us more dangerous”. They tried very hard to get Bush to attack and even said that he should attack before his last term ends.
But here we are with our MAGA man Trump who has transitioned into MIGA man during his last term. He has nothing to lose. And if he gets impeached he can fly to Israel and become itz president. I’m sure he will be welcomed there.
They Israeli people sure do seem to control foreign policy and a quite sizeable portion of the American people. It has been estimated that the cabinets and policy people of the last 5 administrations contained at least 50 to 60 percent Israeli peoples. WTF!

Could be dementia. But after seeing my dad’s decline up close and personal, it seemed like most of the irrational behavior was much more “personal.” Paranoia about being talked about, constant worry about minor irreverent objects and complaining bitterly about decline.
I think this is all about Butler PA. Most of us will never know what it’s like to be hit by a sniper’s bullet. A sniper who managed to kill two other people nearby. I could see Donny replaying that day over and over. Perhaps at night after making the 2:00am piss walk. Just standing there, remembering the day that he literally dodged a bullet.
Perhaps on one of those early mornings he set a new goal: Sainthood. “Peace in the Middle East would be a miracle,” he thinks. Oh, sure he’s not Catholic, but that’s just details. Modern day secular saints are better anyway, just look at JFK. Barely did a full term and is remembered eternally. If nothing else, Trump “knows” he’s on a mission from God. And just like Jake and Elwood weren’t perfect, he knows God will work with what he has on hand. It’s happened to presidents before. George W Bush was convinced God put him in power to pave the way for the second coming.
The cuss-word laden warning Tweet a few Sundays ago felt like it came out of the frustration that the Iranian people don’t see that Trump is on a mission from God to make the Middle East into a peaceful glorious vacation land, where everyone leaves their front doors unlocked and all grudges are settled in courts and any hanky-panky with the children is kept private. You know, like how God intended.

Witkoff? Kushner and Kushner? It’s clear that Trump is subservient to the Jews. If they are the ones who are really making the decisions, it would explain the over-the-top hate for Iran, the mockery of Jesus, etc.
Maybe — like Biden — Trump is just another doddering old puppet controlled by Israel and its agents in the U.S.
