Rigor Tortoise?

They tell us the Dirty Old Turtle – Senator Mitch McConnell – is not only alive but in good enough condition to pose for a picture with his wife. He looks alert enough and well enough in the picture, so how come we haven’t seen or even heard any more of him? Why does he not speak? Why are there no videos of him up and about?

How come he’s not back at work? Isn’t that what he’s being paid (by taxpayers) to do? How many of us could disappear for a month and still be getting paid by our employers? Oh, yes. Of course. Our employers have the power to fire us because we work for them and if we do not work, then off we go. We are told, of course, that people who work for the government work for us. If so, why is it that we cannot fire them or even put them on leave?

Common sense suggests McConnell is at the very least incapacitated, if not actually plastron up. It is a reasonable default to assume this given what is known, including the fact that he was obviously in bad shape before he suddenly disappeared from sight about a month ago. He is a frail old man who has needed help walking; who has glitched multiple times while attempting to speak (a symptom of stroke). When a frail old man who can barely stand up on his own disappears for a month, it is reasonable to assume he probably can’t get out of bed anymore. That pic of him sitting upright in bed is very probably a fake and an official one, too.

That’s where this gets interesting.

If you’re old enough to remember the old Soviet Union, you probably remember when the various doddering old men who led it would just disappear and we’d be told they just had a cold and were just fine, really. After awhile, when the official lies could no longer be maintained, it was admitted that Comrade Brezhnev or Comrade Andropov or Comrade Chernenko had died. An interesting thing to recall is that Comrade Brezhnev was just 79 years old when he died. Almost youthful relative to the Dirty Old Turtle, who is 84. Comrade Andropov was a mere 70. Comrade Chernenko was 74 at the time of his death. The Soviet gerontocracy was more youthful than America’s gerontocracy, in other words. Nancy Pelosi is 86. Dianne Feinstein was 90 when she finally died in office. Trump is older right now than Brezhnev was when he died and will be as old as the oldest Soviet gerontocrats were by the end of his current term in office.

It is a metric of the ossification of the American Soviet. It is also eerily similar in terms of the way the actual condition of the gerontocrats is hidden from view and openly lied about, too. The Dirty Old Turtle is not an isolated case. We are not told the truth about Trump’s health, for instance – and are supposed to deny the evidence of our own lyin’ eyes, such as his obviously swollen ankles, strange gait and the blotches on the back of his hand. There are also the strange disappearances – periods of incommunicado – during which our Gerontocrat-in-Chief is not heard from (except via social media) or seen. We are told he aces cognitive tests because he knows that a line drawing of a sheep is a sheep.

The people around Trump know but pretend not to know. Just as the people in the know about the Dirty Old Turtle know but pretend not to know. They lie to us openly, in fact. Unless you believe the multiple Republican honchos who say they all spoke to the DOT for “20 minutes,” each of them. Curious how they all spoke to him for exactly the same amount of time. As if reading from the same script.

The longer this goes on, the better – in the sense that it inadvertently reveals just how Sovietized America has become. The parallels are more than just gerontological. America in 2026 is a lot like the Soviet Union was toward the end of the Soviet Union. The latter was broke, exhausted and demoralized after years of pursuing a stupid, evil war in the Middle East (Afghanistan) and led by rheumy old fossils who clung to power for the sake of clinging to power. And now so it is in the American Soviet.

It will be interesting to see what comes after.

  1. Allowing 8 hours for sleep, there are forty-eight 20-minute time slots per day so after 4 weeks I calculate that he could have held up to 1344 visiting sessions, which is enough for 537 congress members plus 50 governors plus 9 supreme court justices plus the president and the vice president (grand total 598 mugwumps) to have visited several times over by now.

  2. “Rigor Tortoise” , that’s flippin’ gold, Eric.

How many “20 minute” conversations did he have? Hours of interviews but no on-camera talks.

    Bullshit.

    • Why does “Ditch McConnell ” not speak???

The original star trek , Dr. “Bones” McCoy, said it best…

      “He’s dead, Jim”….I

always loved the deadpan dramatic delivery of Deforrest Kelly’s lines…

      YMMV

  3. Excellent points.

If anyone wants a really good picture of what is coming for the USSA, take the time to read up about the last decade of the USSR. I was fortunate to have a class on the subject in 1989, only a few months before the collapse of the Berlin Wall, from a professor who actually had spent some time there. This course cut through the propaganda of both right and left about the nature of the Soviet Union gave a picture of the reality: a populace that no longer believed the official propaganda, who had worked out systems of barter to get past the shortages, and had made the best of their lives in spite of the hardships. Read what people who lived through it have to say about most Americans have no idea how to survive something similar.

Secondly, if there are any Reagan fans still out there, please be aware that the “defense” buildup during his administration had next to NOTHING to do with the collapse of the USSR. It was going to collapse eventually under its shear sclerotic rot, but what speed up the the timeline was (1) the idiotic and poorly planned invasion of Afghanistan (which still had more of a point than any of the USSA’s recent wars), and (2) the real death blow, Chernobyl. There is so much excellent information on how the endless buck-passing and blame-deflecting of the Soviet “leadership” made a very bad situation considerably worse.

Finally, as geriatric as the Soviet leadership was (the remnants of those who had got them through the “Great Patriotic War”) they were still serious people much unlike the clown show of the Orange Douche, Petey Kegsbreath, the (presumably dead) Turtle, and the late, unlamented Miss Lindsey.

The collapse is going to be legendary if we all don’t get nuke first.

    • Another aspect, MQ, is the rumor that George HW Bush was actually the president after Reagan was shot. Bush just hid behind Reagan to do what he wanted. While the rest of the country knew nothing else, and those that did (such as Congress) went along with the game.

      • Hi Shadow,

Bush (the elder) was a kind of Martin Borman figure in the Reagan administration. A creepy Gray Eminence who probably did run thigns, especially after the assassination attempt. Did you know Hinckley is related to people the Bush family was friendly with?

        • Oh yes, I was aware of this, Eric. HW Bush was also a 33rd degree Mason, and a pedophile, as well. Little stuff you know when growing up in Hell. His wife, Barbara (Whom Faux News Fox dubs as “America’s Grandmother”-gag) was a drunk. So when Shrub Jr (as I dub George W.) was president, I had to wonder how far from the tree he fell?

  4. Maybe gerontocracy is a good thing. With the Soviets, the proliferation of the old men led to political stagnation (always a good thing). Younger political “leaders” tend to be more energetic and innovative (i.e. meddlesome), constantly stirring up trouble for everyone and using the population as guinea pigs for their retarded ideas of how they think government should work.

  5. “Khanna, Massie VICTORY: Force Pelosi To CUT Israel Funding Vote” Breaking Points. 7.16.26 video @14:41 I’ve said I’m going to introduce term limit legislation called three strokes and you’re out. U because we we’ve seen this in the House. We saw one of our colleagues disappear for four months. No account. By the way, he won his primary and I lost mine. Maybe that was the answer. And he was depressed, right? Depressed, which is a catch-all. It could mean, I mean, what do you do when you’re depressed? Maybe you drink. Maybe you’re doing something. I’m not saying that he did, but um and then we had Kay Granger who was basically, you know, had dementia and was still a congressperson for many months. One her the one who was in a memory care facility. Yes. Yes. I remember that. I remember that. Yes.
That’s insane. Um, you know, we had yesterday we marked up a bill in judiciary called the National Fossils Act, and I asked them if this was about senators. Khanna (responding to Massie’s bluntness): This is what happens when you don’t have to run for re-election anymore! [which leads to question about Massie’s future plans:] “the political terrain right now in Republican primaries is uphill for me. Yeah, the the war in Iran, this doesn’t get reported enough, is 70% popular among Republicans. Yeah, still is. And you know, that’s in Kentucky where you have Rand Paul and Thomas Massie. In Oklahoma [Toby Keith country], where you don’t have us, it’s 80% popular according to the pollster that I used. So, you know, there’s still And then you saw the the vote on Israel sending the foreign aid. People Republicans say they’re conservative. they don’t want to send money overseas, but then they have little asterisk and they say, “Except we’ll give Israel as much money as they need, you know, and we’ll we’ll empty our coffers for that.” So that I do have a few political positions that I think are going to be right in four years, eight years. Uh maybe it only takes two years, but right now I’m against the grain uh of where you can win certain races. So yeah, I’m going to watch for the terrain. see if it changes. Do I get Do I eventually get the high ground or not, but in the meantime, I am just so happy to have my life back. I have I should send Miriam Adlesen a thank you card.” (the rest of us should send her a deportation order)

In re: to civil war discussion I have been having with myself here, Massie is from Appalachia. Monticello is in the hills, Piedmont, next to there. Could post Breaking Points video link, but rather post about how TM is a self sufficient farmer and his peach orchard: @3:04 “the independence that I’ve created or earned here on the farm, whether it’s from the food or the power that it generate or that I can build a structure with the lumber on the land. Uh that’s what enables me to go to Washington DC and say, “You don’t have anything over on me.” like you could literally uh take everything I’ve got and I can create it again and I’ll be okay.”

TOI 10.13.25. “Hailing Adelson and her ‘$60 billion in the bank,’ Trump quips that she likes Israel more than US. US President Donald Trump gives a shout-out to Miriam Adelson during his Knesset speech, noting her role in pushing for him to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in 2017.

Trump asks Adelson, who is sitting in the gallery, to stand up, as lawmakers give her a standing ovation.

He quips that she and her late husband Sheldon made more trips to the White House than anyone else.

“Look at her sitting there so innocently. She’s got $60 billion in the bank,” Trump jokes about the GOP megadonor.

“Her husband was a very aggressive man, but I loved him… very supportive of me,” Trump says of the casino mogul.

“I get her in trouble with this, but I actually asked her once… ‘What do you love more? The United States or Israel?’ She refused to answer. That might mean Israel,” Trump says, smiling, while looking at the dual Israeli-American national.”

12.17.25 Fox4 Dallas Fort Worth Video. “Trump Hannukah Reception: Mavs owner sparks ‘4 more years’ chant. Dallas Mavericks majority owner Miriam Adelson spoke at President Trump’s Hanukkah Reception on Tuesday, sparking a “four more years” chant from the crowd. Transcript: “Miriam gave my campaign indirectly and directly 250 million. She was number one. [cheering and applause] When somebody can give you 250 million, I think that we should give her the opportunity to say hello. And Miriam, make it quick cuz 250 million is not what it used to be. Okay. Hello, darling. Come here. incredible woman with a great husband, a man that loved [applause] Israel. Well, Mr. President, when you were in the Israeli parliament and you gave a speech and you saw me from far away, you called and I at that time I came with a scooter to the parliament just to hear you. I wanted to hear you alive and then you say Miriam Adson and I stood for a second but it was so painful so I said then you screamed Miriam stand up and I wish you would have known but I stood up and heard all your compliment and thank you very much I saw you back there standing you saw me bravely and now I met Alan Dovich and he say the legal thing about four more years and I say Alan I agree with you. So we can do it. Think about it. Alan’s here someplace. Where’s Alan? Alan is here. Oh, he had a flight. Alan is here. Think about the first one or second. Yeah. She said, “Think about it. I’ll give you another 250.” But I will give. But her husband Sheldon was an amazing guy and he’d come up to the office and there was nobody more aggressive than Sheldon. I think I spent more time with him and you because you usually came up together, but he’d call and say, “Uh, can I come over, please?” I say, “Sheldon, I’m president of the United States.” It doesn’t work that way anymore. It’s like maybe tomorrow. How about tomorrow? No, no, no, please. Just for a little while. And I would, he’d always say, “10 minutes.” It turned out to be about an hour and a half, right? And what he did is he fought for Israel. That’s all he really fought for. He just wanted to take care of Israel.”

      • “ He just wanted to take care of Israel.”
Yeah, with our tax dollars. The Adelsons are effing billionaires but Traitor Trump was fine with it as long as some of that money fell into his grubby hands.

  6. The most believable “I spoke with McConnell for 20 minutes” tweet was Massie’s. And his was obvious satire.

  7. If this goes on much longer it will have to be a closed coffin funeral because the Dirty Old Turtle will be as freezer burned as Osama was when they finally got rid of his corpse.

Although at this point I suspect the Dirty Old Turtle did more damage to America than Osama ever did.

  8. ‘Why does he not speak?’ — eric

Gov. Andy Beshear casually tosses a live grenade into the conversation:

‘In an interview, journalist [sic] Katie Couric asked Beshear what prompted him to release statements calling for McConnell to share more information about his now month-long hospitalization.

“It had been a month before anything had been put out, not even an official statement from Senator McConnell,” Beshear said.

“In fact, I’d gotten two calls from different agencies – not state agencies – suggesting he’s passed.” — Louisville Courier-Journal

    https://archive.ph/FrvLX#selection-477.0-487.222

Obviously, if Mitch is still around, he’s got to respond to that zinger. But more likely, his crisis team is whiling away critical hours, debating whether to climb deeper down the rabbit hole by instigating more fictitious ’20-minute conversations’ with an unresponsive lump of protoplasm. But nobody in the imperial capital will take that bait anymore — too dangerous!

What to do, what to do-o-o-o-o-o-o-o?

    • An alternate viewpoint Jim might be that they actually talked to him for 20 minute but in the way you talk to a deceased relative at a cemetery. That’s talking to someone but not actually talking with someone. A “minor” difference to be sure.

    • Hi Jim,

There are times in life where it is better to ask for forgiveness than seek permission. Beshear needs to name a new Senator. Now. If McConnell is alive (which looks pretty doubtful) he will make an appearance to save his seat. The time to throw down the gauntlet is today. The pussyfooting needs to stop.

      • Excellent idea! Call Andy and urge him to get on with the solemn occasion.

What’s the worst that can happen? Mitch is wheeled out of his sick chamber, blinking in the sunshine. Andy apologizes, saying he was misled, and wishes only the best for the old reptile … then takes advantage of the kerfuffle to announce his 2028 presidential bid.

Andy Beshear won’t shear the sheeple! 🙂

        • You know what, Jim? I think I will send Andy an email. I am sure he will jump right on it. 😂

It would provide him some needed name recognition and the Asses will applaud him giving the finger to the Elephants. He will be known as the man that took on the US Senate.

Do it, Andy. Do it. Seriously, I will become a fan. Just because it will show he has balls.

      • He’s a Democrat,

Either the Dems are in on the charade, or they’re too stupid to throw this particular hand grenade.

Usually they do not hesitate to use such tactics. Something’s fishy.

As George Carlin said, “Bipartisanship” means a larger-than-usual deception is being carried out.

        • Hi Publius,

No doubt deception is occurring, but the Asses are too scared to throw the grenade. They believe if they sit idly by they can claim ignorance when this blows up in the Elephants faces. Being a wimp has never garnered respect, but apparently the Dems hope it does.

Centralized government is failing. The more outlandish the cover ups the more disgusted the citizens become. Nobody takes the federal government seriously. They are a laughingstock to their constituents and the world.

Once the news of McConnell is confirmed the backlash will be intense and it will be the final nail in the coffin of the GOP (Gang of Psychos).

          • Morning, RG!

Yup. The longer this goes on, the worse it will get. How stupid do they think we are? The contempt they have for us is so extreme and so obvious at this point that it hardly needs to be pointed out. If McConnell isn’t incapacitated, all he’d have to do is invite a few reporters to his room for a quick interview. See? I’m alive and functional. I have to stay in bed due to the fall, but I’m not in a coma or stroked out. The fact that he has not done this says everything. If he’s alive – if he’s not incapacitated – there’s no good reason for him to not do this. Ergo, there are bad reasons.

The thing I don’t get is why Bashear doesn’t publicly demand not just proof of life but of consciousness. If it is not produced, he could declare the seat vacant and appoint someone.

            • Hi Eric,

Unfortunately, they think we are pretty stupid. The reason for that is because we produce no backlash. We have become apathetic.

The problem with not caring or just shrugging our shoulders and rolling our eyes is the depravity continues. The elite become bolder in their lies, thieving, and deception. They take us for fools rather than people who are aware of what is going on, but no longer give a shit.

              • I think you’re right, RG –

I see this passivity as being similar to the passivity of Russians in the Soviet era. They felt helpless, so they acted helpless. And they drank. We watch porn and play video games.

                • You are absolutely correct, Eric.

I would have no issue with apathy toward government as long as that apathy did not veer into life, but it seems that many have just quit that as well. It doesn’t seem that most are preparing, stockpiling, or learning instead they are just waiting for the world to end.

                • Except that the Russians were not armed, nor allowed to be. Americans are some of the most well armed and for what?

                  • I think I know why, Shadow –

No one wants to be the first martyr. And martyrs there must be. In 1775, most Americans were very much not wanting to fight, either. It took a determined minority of them who understood that a fight was unavoidable to get things going.

                    • In that case, everyone thinks that this is still avoidable. I fear the minority may be smaller than it was in 1775. Most want the end result (freedom) without the suffering that goes with it. And with Communism appealing to so many of the younger generations, I have to wonder how many really even care about all the crap that is going on? Let alone care enough to fight back?

                    • Yes. All true.

                      But here’s a thought.

Such a feat would be a great deal easier to pull off (and potentially a great deal less bloody), if it happened at a tine when our military had its hands full being fully committed to several foreign adventures at once. The more the better.

It might be better to wait until *after* everyone is fully and irrevocably committed inside Iran, Ukraine, Taiwan, etc. Wait for it to start teetering, then make a full-on push.

“Never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake.”

I don’t think that day is far away. But it isn’t here just yet.

              • Of course the depravity continues. Government and voting is no more than determining which psychopath is in charge. Why would it ever change?

  9. ‘Plastron up’ — eric

Thought this was a typo. But no, it’s a real word: the plastron is the nearly flat, bony underside of a turtle’s shell (the belly or ventral surface).

‘Nancy Pelosi was 86 when she finally left decided to leave office.’

She’s still there. This week she voted in favor of Rep Thomas Massie’s amendment to cut off military aid to Israel. Funny how not running for re-election frees politicians to take ethical positions they should have taken all along.

Sadly, no such final-hour conversion will be forthcoming from the dirty old turtle. Even if he’s not plastron up, he’s almost surely permanently glitched and unable to speak. And it’s way too late for him to learn ASL (American Sign Language), which would be a first in a Senate debate. We’ll just have to remember mincing ol’ Mitch, as he was in his salad rump ranger days:
